"So two kids Hunt," Derek said.

"How do you manage a teenager," Mark asked.

"Excuse Mark," Derek said, "he just found out he has a 17 year old."

"Congratulations," Owen said, "have you met?"

"Her name is Sloan Riley and she's at my place," Mark said.

"Come Saturday night and bring Sloan," Owen said, "Richard's family is coming."

"They do okay with his nephew," Derek commented.

"You keep the teenagers close," Owen said, "know where they are and who they're with. It's Tuesday, which means youth group and bible study tonight."

"You send the kid to bible study," Mark asked.

"She's got some good friends there and knowing the stories will only help her education," Owen said, "it's part of her education. They do a decent job teaching kids to discuss and debate. And the social piece for Danika is good."

"What does your group do," Mark asked.

"Tuesday is games and bible study," Owen said, "every second Saturday is a field trip to do something. Rock climbing, swimming, laser tag, go karting."

"You pay for this," Mark asked.

"Not for Tuesday but we take turns sending a snack about every six weeks the Saturday events we pay for her to do them," Owen said, "no different then if she went with friends."

"It's worth it the kids are supervised," Richard added, "the youth pastor Harold is a nice man."

"He's good," Owen said, "we've hung out with him And his family."

"How do I get Sloan in this youth group thing," Mark asked, "and school?"

"School, find your local high school and register her at the office," Owen said, "youth they just show up. Danika has a group from her school there."

"Danika's school if I wanted her to go there " Mark asked.

"They audition young," Richard said.

"Danika started there at 9 in fourth grade," Owen said, "and their class is pretty stable. It's not cheap. I've seen the tuition bill. I didn't know Teddy was paying that much until she left the tuition statement on our dresser."

"Altman didn't tell you," Derek asked.

"There's a trust from their dad." Owen explained, "Teddy says the interest covers tuition and the optional fees for Royal academy exams and private lessons. She's not worried. They came from money."

"Addison knew Teddy growing up," Mark said, "they went to the same schools."

"Their dad was a big part of upper level publishing," Owen said, "I think he was the majority owner. Teddy has to go to New York in January to deal with some stuff for it because their dad's shares got split between Teddy and Danika. We don't know if Danika will go or not."

"Make a family trip of it " Richard suggested.

"Teddy doesn't know if Danika is ready. Their dad didn't want them involved Teddy was in her late 20s before it was explained all to her," Owen said, "when their dad was sick."

"Seriously Hunt, how do I get a teenage girl to like me," Mark asked.

"Time " Owen said, "without Lexie. Food helps. Find something she's wanted to learn to do that you can teach her it worked for me."

"What did you teach Danika," Derek asked.

"To ride a bike," Owen said, "I got her one and a helmet last Christmas. We ride at least once on the weekends. Teddy comes now and I have a baby seat for my bike for Allison. We all go or I throw Danika and my bikes in the truck and we go to a couple different forested trails. If I can get her outside to ride her bike or hike she'll talk to me."

"Patrick wants a new bike," Richard said.

"I've repaired the tires and gear shit of his," Owen said, "those kids riding around our neighborhood or the Kandlers is good for them."

"For slurpees and candy," Richard said.

"We have to let them be kids, not just dancers," Owen said, "there's still a stuffed polar bear."

"I thought the bear at the conference was for Allison," Derek said.

"No, the polar bear is Danika's, the ducky is Allison's," Owen said, "with the trauma Dani's had, a comfort object is normal. That bear is from her last trip with her dad and Teddy. They went to sea world and the San Diego zoo."

"Didn't Teddy bribe the kid with a cat," Mark asked.

"I think Milly was a bit of a peace offering for up-rooting Danika," Owen said.

"What am I going to bribe with," Mark asked.

"You don't," Richard said, "we don't, he has what he needs and some treats. The extra activities and outings. Time not things. I'd rather pay for him to go go karting then buy a video game."

"How we operate," Owen said, "she doesn't need stuff and we do buy books or board games but experiences and skills."

"Mark has a kid," Callie said walking into the attendings lounge.

"I know," Teddy said, "I'm inviting them to dinner this weekend with the Webber's and Patrick. Get the teenagers together."

"I've seen the kid," Callie said, "Sloan will eat Danika alive. Your Dani is sweet and gentle."

"She's a good kid," Teddy said, "we try. She loves Megan Hunt."

"Both your girls love Auntie Megan " Megan smiled as she joined the conversation.

"Thanks for taking them overnight," Teddy smiled.

"Dani is at school and Allison is in daycare," Megan said.

"School drop off went okay," Teddy asked.

"She saw Asher," Megan laughed, "she rushed out of my car. I didn't even get a good bye."

"Shes been texting him," Teddy said.

"She likes him," Megan said, "she asked me to do the twists into her bun this morning."

"Did you," Teddy asked.

"Cool auntie Megan doesn't say no to that," Megan laughed, "it's a high school crush. She's 15 and the only way she gets to show personality at school is with her hair so yes."

"Thank you," Teddy smiled, "she needs you to be that person because I have to be the parent."

"Cool aunt is an important job," Megan said, "you and Owen parent her. She trusts you. She wants to be with you."

"I don't know I was pretty short with her yesterday at drop off," Teddy replied.

"Something happen," Callie asked.

"Back talk about getting ready," Teddy said, "being a teenager and not getting out of bed and ready on time so she was late for school and I was late for work."

"I did it to my mom a few times," Callie said.

"So did I," Megan replied, "she won't hold it against you."

"It won't happen again," Teddy replied, "I kinda needed Owen as back up but he was here."

"Trading off," Callie asked.

"Sometimes when one of us is getting frustrated or we have a power struggle to have the other step in works," Teddy said, "it doesn't undermine either of our authority with her but shows we're united."

"He's okay with this," Addison asked.

"He knew," Teddy said, "he knew the day we started dating that Danika is in my life and will be in his."

"Please he loves that kid," Megan said, "he talks like he has two kids you both do. They do their things."

"Like what," Callie asked, "Mark is panicking."

"Bike rides for ice cream or hot chocolate," Teddy replied.

"Really," Addison asked.

"He had asked her one day last fall about something she wanted to learn to do but her mom had said no," Teddy said, "and her answer was ride a bike. So he got her a bike and helmet for christmas last year and taught her to ride after breakfast Christmas morning in our driveway."

"Like a dad," Megan said.

"Yes," Teddy said, "I had worried about him being a dad, about us being parents but watching that I knew."

"Sure it wasn't hormones," addison teased.

"Maybe a little," Teddy agreed, "but that he would care that much about my sister to want to be there for her."

"It's the happiest I've ever seen Eeyore," Megan said.

In the OR Mark asked, "seriously how do I get my daughter to respect me?"

"Time," Owen said, "and stay the course. Spend time with her."

"How do you spend time with Danika," Derek asked.

"Teddy and I both parent both kids," Owen said, "I'm sometimes in a weird position with Danika. I'm raising my sister in law. You have to talk to your daughter's mom. Be a untied front. Teddy and I agree on what we accept for behaviour and grades. You both have to have a say. Teddy is stricter about grades and I'm pickier about behaviour. We both discipline when needed. I grounded Danika a couple weeks ago and took her phone."

"You took her phone," Mark said, "Sloan's is surgically attached."

"Danika loses phone privileges first," Owen said, "her phone and computer. Her computer isn't allowed in her room ever. Homework is done in the kitchen."

"Why did you ground Danika," Mark asked.

"It was a few things," Owen said, "Teddy was working that weekend and Danika was being 15. She was late to the meeting spot for me to pick her up after going out with friends Friday night so Allison got to bed late and was fussy. Saturday she refused to do her chores and talked back all day then after rehearsal she refused to help me make dinner and it was enough. She had been warned several times. I had taken her phone and it didn't change the behaviour so she was grounded for a week."

"What about boys," Mark asked.

"Only downstairs," Owen said, "that was Teddy's decision before I moved in but I agree. Danika hangs out with Patrick Webber but they're just friends."

"Theres a new guy thats been hanging out with them," Richard said.

"Asher," Owen replied, "he came over with the others last weekend. Decent kid."

"Good for the group of them," Richard asked.

"Nice kid, polite and friendly he acknowledged Allison," Owen said.

"They all like Allison," Richard said.

"Most were only or youngests," Owen said, "Patrick is the youngest so is Dani. Lizzie is an only."

"So will Allison be an only," Derek asked.

"That's up to Teddy," Owen said, "if she wants to."

"You like kids," Mark said.

"I like our family," Owen said, "Teddy and the girls."

"How did you just take Danika on," Mark asked.

"I knew when Teddy and I started dating," Owen said, "I always knew how much Teddy loved Danika; the only family Teddy talked about for 5 years was her baby sister. I knew she would be in Teddy's life. I knew when Teddy moved here that she would be raising Danika. I chose to help raise Dani. I didn't expect to have another baby sister and to love that kid but she's our Dani she's a huge part of our family. When her maternal grandparents appeared and we could have lost Danika I panicked. I was looking up custody lawyers to fight for Danika."

"Legally," Derek asked.

"Teddy has temporary guardianship," Owen said, "we're waiting for the hearing in two weeks to give it to both of us with my sister as our back up. Megan is back up for both."

"I need back up now," Mark asked.

"Have some one on standby," Owen said, "for getting called in and emergencies. We use Megan and Riggs."

"I saw both your kids here the other night," Derek said.

"The bus crash," Owen said, "Danika will sleep in a patient bed or on call room and we can sign Allison into the nursery."

"Did you bring both in pajamas that night," Derek asked, "I saw pink cupcakes."

"Danika had a cold and ear infection and we didn't have the heart to make her get dressed for the car ride," Owen said, "I actually carried her in."

"You," Mark asked.

"Teddy had Allison," Owen said.

"Ear infection I wasn't called," Mark said.

"Megan can prescribe for her it wasn't worth bothering you," Owen said, "Sloan you can handle a teenager. You're in charge, you make the rules. Get to know your daughter and bring her for dinner this weekend. Introduce Sloan to Danika and Patrick."
