(Season 5x05 = Detective Amenadiel)

Throughout this past year, Chloe Decker discovered a lot of things that had officially turned her life upside down. From discovering that half of her friends, are celestial beings from Heaven and Hell, to later accepting and falling in love with her partner who revealed to be the actual Devil himself.

But what was presently troubling her, was when she was told by the Angel who bearded a striking resemblance to the man she loved, that she is a gift from God. And the reason behind her very existence was so she could cross paths with Lucifer.

As a result, Chloe has been unable to cope with this life shattering shock. So much so, she's feels as if she no longer has any freewill or control over her own life and the decisions she makes. In addition she's been keeping Lucifer at arm's length.

Yet, Lucifer still refused to give up on trying to help her through her issues. Although, regardless of his own determination, Lucifer was still in a hurry to make things right between them before he has to relieve Amenadiel as Hell's temporarily warden and return to there.

After several failed attempts of trying to get her attention, Chloe eventually agreed to finally meet with Lucifer. It wasn't an easy choice for her, but after the events of the 'pet-napping case,' Chloe knew she couldn't avoid Lucifer forever. Especially since he won't be able to stay on Earth for much longer. Which is why on one bright and earlier morning in Los-Angeles, Lucifer placed a blindfold around Chloe's eyes and guided her to a very special spot at the beach.

Lucifer: Thank you for finally agreeing to meet with me, Detective.

Chloe: *Still blindfolded* Well, after 57 phone-calls, twice as many texts, the billboard of Sunset, oh, and the ill-conceived stripper…

Lucifer: In my defence, Roberto came highly recommended.

Chloe: *Sighs* Lucifer, I am ready to talk, and yes, thank you for being patient, but I really don't know what you can say that's going to make a difference.

Lucifer: I agree.

By the time they stopped walking, Lucifer removed Chloe's blindfold for her to see… a neatly wrapped present lying in the sand.

Chloe: I don't think a gift is going to fix this.

Lucifer: We are, once again, in agreement. Hold that please. (Kindly hands her the blindfold before retrieving a canister containing gasoline)

What Chloe didn't realize was that the spot they were standing in was where Lucifer made his own life-changing revelations. It was where he and Maze first arrived when he decided to leave Hell, it was where Maze cut off his wings and then five years later it was where Lucifer burned his wings after retrieving them from Amenadiel after he had them stolen.

Now, it was the very place where Lucifer hoped to finally make things right with Chloe by giving her the same clarity he received during his previous visits to that very spot. Therefore, as a way of showing the gift's symbolism, Lucifer began pouring gasoline on it.

Chloe: What are you doing?

Lucifer: Years ago, I faced a similar sense of helplessness, a lack of control in my life, so I came here, to this very spot. This is where I burned my wings. Now, you don't have wings obviously, but… (Reaches into his pocket and pulls out a packet of matches) as a Devil who's learned to embrace metaphors… (Offers Chloe the matches)

Chloe: Huh. One gift burning another.

Lucifer: I hope it brings you the same catharsis as it did for me.

Chloe: Well, I appreciate this, Lucifer, but, um… (Returns the matches back to Lucifer before walking away) this is not what I need.

Lucifer: Well, then what do you need, Detective? Please, just tell what I can to do to fix things.

Chloe: There is one thing you can do, but you're not going to like it.

Lucifer: Well, tell me.

Chloe: I need time… and… I need space. (Continues to walk away)

Lucifer: *Sighs before whispering to himself* I don't have time.

After yet another failed attempt of trying to help Chloe with her identity crisis, Lucifer went over to Linda's house, at 7 a.m. and sought council from her. Only, he didn't realize that Linda had something important to tell him. The matter was significant because just moments after Lucifer, Joei walked in side-by-side with her new border-collie puppy, Nana, on a leash.

# It was a bright and beautiful morning, so I thought I'd take Nana out for an early walk before work. Until I got a text from Linda texted asking me to come over. By the time we got there, Luci was already there having a bit of spat with Linda about the whole 'Chloe situation.'

Hairstyle: Plait accent ponytail

Top: Pink Print Ruched Sleeve Wrap Top by Topshop

Bottoms: Blue acid-wash jeans

Footwear: Black ankle-length block-heel boots

Earrings: White flower studs

Ring: Fidget Spinner Rose Ring Sterling Silver from Boho-Magic

Nail-polish: Sky-Blue

Lucifer: Joei, what are you doing here… with your dog?

Joei: We were out for a walk when Linda texted me. Is everything alright?

Linda: Well, actually…

Lucifer: No, everything is not alright. The Detective doesn't want me around while she's dealing with her identity crisis.

Linda: Lucifer, you should know…

Lucifer: I should know better, I need to be patient. Yes, I am aware.

Linda: Not what I was going to say, but it's a good point.

Lucifer: The problem is, if the Detective focuses on work, then she's just going to avoid dealing with her issues.

Joei: That is true. Whenever Chloe want's to avoid dealing with something in her personal life, she focuses all of her attention on a case.

Lucifer: Exactly. Which is why I need to speed her along to the part where everything's good again.

Linda: Yeah, the thing is, Amenadiel…

Lucifer: Is down in Hell waiting for me to return, yes, I'm aware. Why to do think I'm in such a bloody hurry?!

Linda: Lucifer…

Lucifer: Doctor, I need to clear things up with the Detective before I go home, because I once I relive my brother… who knows when I'll be back. It's… it's like I can leave Hell unattended and…

Joei: (Notices a certain someone entering the room from behind Lucifer) Uh, Lucifer. (Points to the person standing behind him)

From the moment he turned around, the sight of Amenadiel standing right before him while holding Charlie in his arms stunned Lucifer.

Lucifer: Amenadiel?

Amenadiel: Oh. Hey, Luci. Joei. And… puppy?

Nana: *Barks*

Lucifer: Why didn't you tell me he was here?

Wanting to give the three siblings some privacy, Linda took Charlie into another room, leaving the three to talk. Once the siblings seated themselves at the dining-table (Joei placed Nana on her lap), Amenadiel began explaining the story behind his sudden return from Hell.

Amenadiel: There I was… wondering the corridors of Hell, when… I heard a voice. A voice that I never expected to hear in Hell.

Lucifer: (Grabbing a drink before sitting next to Joei) Well, who was it? Mother Teresa, Mr Rodgers? Adele?

Amenadiel: Father.

Joei: Wait, Dad spoke to you?

Amenadiel: Mm-hmm.

Lucifer: Well, go on then. What did he say?

Amenadiel: He told me that Hell no longer requires a warden.

Joei: And?

Amenadiel: And that's it.

Joei: That's it? So does that mean neither you nor Lucifer have to go back down there to keep the Demons at bay? And you're absolutely sure it was Dad who told you that Hell doesn't need guarding anymore?

Amenadiel: I knew his voice, so yes. And so I came up here to see my son. I've only been back for a few hours, siblings. I was going to find you guys next.

Lucifer: Let me get this straight. I just spent millennia down there, diligently doing everything He asked without complaint, and you have one sleepover in Hell and Dad tells you your watch is over?

Amenadiel: Well, Luci, you know Father works in…

Lucifer: if you finish that sentence, I will punch in your 'Mysterious ways.' Well, first the Detective, now this. Talk about salt in the wound.

Amenadiel: What happened with Chloe? Is she alright?

Lucifer: Oh, I wouldn't know. She's been keeping me at arm's length ever since Michael told her she's a gift from God.

Amenadiel: Oh… no. Wait a minute, does she know that…

Lucifer: What? That you're the one who delivered the gift? No. Her brain was already plenty melted without adding that to the mix.

Sometime later, Joei had already dropped off Nana at the local dog-sitter before heading off to work. Upon her arrival at the precinct, she saw Dan sitting at his desk, talking with a couple of unis. After Ella told her about Dan having a crush on her, Joei was still unsure how to approach it.

Originally, she thought about turning him down in a gentle manner, but a small part of her almost considered the thought of being… romantically involved with him! However, because Lucifer interrupted them the last time Dan tried asking her out, Dan remained silent on the topic.

For example, by the time he finished his conversation with the unis, Dan looked over and simply watched as Joei made her towards the lab without even bothering to get her attention and then continued to work.

Meanwhile over at her own desk, Chloe was doing her usual jobs, as it was the only thing that made her feel as if she had some sense of control over her own life. That is until she too received a surprise visit from a concerned Amenadiel.

Chloe: Oh. Amenadiel, you're back. Wait, does that mean Lucifer…

Amenadiel: No, no. He's still here. Everything in Hell has been taken care of.

Chloe: Well, I have no idea what that means, but just add it to the list.

Amenadiel: Yeah, I heard. Um… Chloe, how are you doing?

Chloe: *Scoffs* Did Lucifer send you to see how my 'Gift from God spiral's' going?

Amenadiel: He doesn't even know that I'm here.

Chloe: Oh. Well, luckily, I have this to keep me busy. You know, following clues, catching bad guys. Makes me feel like I have some semblance of control, even if I don't.

Amenadiel: Okay, Chloe… Listen, if there's anything that I can do to help, please, just…

Uniformed Officer: Detective Decker, we caught a body down at Silver Lake.

Chloe: Okay. I'll take it. And um… *Clears throat* Thank you for the offer. But for now, I'm going to stick to police work and avoid anything 'God-related.'

Except, that would prove to be difficult because the latest crime-scene took place at… A nunnery called the 'Sisters of the Divine Path.' Ironically, the victim was in fact a nun named Sister Victoria Reynard.

Her cause of death was blunt force trauma to the back of the head from being yanked from behind by her own cross necklace that broke during the struggle. However, the contusions on her neck didn't match the markings from the cross. Meaning, she was likely wearing another necklace and the killer took it.

When it was time to ask the other nuns about Sister Victoria, Chloe couldn't help but speak out in a rather rude and unprofessional manner towards them.

Chloe: Excuse me. Uh, which one of you found the body?

Sister Andrea (The redhead) I did. I was the first to leave my cell this morning.

Chloe: Cell? Oh, sounds like a prison.

Ella: Oh, yeah, 'cell.' That's an old school term for their rooms. Hi. Long-time fan, first-time visitor. Almost signed up myself, actually.

Joei: ^Cap & Gloves: On^ Really? You thought about becoming a nun?

Ella: Yeah, I was wondering…

Chloe: Uh, excuse me. Uh, Sister Victoria? Had she been upset lately, or had a falling-out with anyone?

Sister Mary: Well, Sister Victoria did just find out…

Sister Andrea: That she was being accepted into our order. She was so happy. We are so blessed God sent you here to find who did this, Detective.

# Oh, boy. Bad choice of words.

Chloe: Oh. Mm-hmm, yeah. Well, yes. That's what God does. Yep, Sends me here, sends me there, kills a nun! Just so I can meet all of you, and…

Joei: Okay! We're going to take a little breath and then we'll be right back. Excuse us. (She and Ella guide Chloe away from the nuns) Okay, what was that?

Chloe: What?

Ella: What? You can't insult them like that.

Chloe: Sorry. That was unprofessional.

Ella: Yeah, well, more importantly, you're making me look bad infront of the nuns.

Chloe: They're hiding something, it's obvious.

Joei: Probably. But I don't see them opening up to you anytime soon.

Chloe: Fair point. Hey, Ella, could you excuse us for moment?

Once out of sight, Chloe pulled Joei away to an area where they could speak privately. Regardless of her need for space from her celestial friends, Chloe knew she needed their help. Especially since her little outburst will undoubtedly cause the nuns to avoid answering any questions she'll have for the case. However, when she asked for Joei's help.

Joei: Ah, I don't think I'm the best choice for this one.

Chloe: Why not? I've seen you use your own mojo on people before. You're just as effective as Lucifer, so I'm sure you can easily do the same with the nuns.

Joei: Well, as fun as that sounds, nuns and me don't exactly have the best history. The last convent I visited resulted in me being thrown out because I told them things they didn't want to hear. Apparently, they don't like it when you tell them that Angels prefer to avoid and look down on humanity and the Devil is actually a decent fello. Besides, I have back-to-back meetings today.

Chloe: *Sighs* Great.

Joei: Although… I'm sure you know of a certain someone who'd be here in a snap of a finger just by picking up the phone.

With that, Joei prepared to take off for her meetings, leaving Chloe with the to pick up the phone. Giving in, Chloe picked up her phone and called a certain Angel to say…

Chloe: Hey, I know I said I needed space, but I could really use your expertise on this case. I'm at a convent in Silver Lake off Cole and Gavin. How long do you think until you can… (Feels a mystical wind before seeing…) get here? Oh, of course. Angel and all that.

Just as Joei predicted, one of her brother's came to help Chloe at the snap of a finger. Normally, everyone would expect it be Lucifer, but instead… Chloe called in Amenadiel! Upon his arrival at the convent, Amenadiel couldn't help but stop and admire his surroundings as it reminded him of the Silver-City.

Chloe: Wait, this is what Heaven looks like?

Amenadiel: No, but there's so much love for my Father here, it feels similar. (He says as he watches the ME's role Sister Victoria's body away on a gurney) And yet also so very different. How can I help you, Chloe? I do have to remind you that, uh… I can't slow down time like I used to.

Chloe: What? I didn't even know that was an option. Wow. Well, what can you do?

Amenadiel: Well, I am God's greatest warrior.

Chloe: Well, as much as I love the mental image of you punching a bunch of nuns, the issue is, they're freezing me out, and I thought with you being an Angel and all, maybe you could use that.

Ameandiel: Chloe, I can't expose myself to them. (Notices Ella walking by, looking disgusted by his choice of words) My Angelic side, I mean.

Chloe: That's not what I meant. I was thinking more along the lines of, like, Lucifer and Joei's mojo's. Do you have the same effect on people?

Amenadiel: I'm sorry, I don't.

At least he thought so until he and Chloe found themselves being circled by a large group of nuns, who couldn't help but smile and gaze at the tall, dark and handsome Angel-man standing before them. Using the nuns affections for Amenadiel, he and Chloe began interviewing them.

Even though his presence proved beneficial for the case, Chloe still had a hard time getting answers from the nuns because they were all too distracted by Amenadiel's angelic appearance. At one point, Chloe had to leave the room in order to get proper answers form nuns.

Eventually, one of them did tell him something. Amenadiel discovered that the kind-hearted mother superior of the convent, Mother Angelica, is a former murderer. Most of the nuns, including Sister Victoria were well aware of her past. Leading to the conclusion that when Sister Victoria found out her dark secret, Mother Angelica decided to silence her.

As for his newfound mojo, Amenadiel wasn't fully certain why the nun were so eager to speak with him because that kind of reaction has never happened to him before. What it because he was Angel and the nuns could sense that or was it something else entirely?

Moreover, before developing a plan to approach Mother Angelica, she was already willing to surrender herself over to the police as she couldn't bear her sisters defending her any longer for her past sins.

Moments before Chloe and Amenadiel brought in Mother Angelica, Lucifer was already at the precinct. Even though he's now free to remain on Earth, Lucifer still wanted to speed up the conclusion of Chloe's case so they can finally resolve their issues. Which is why he enlisted the help from his official 'Bracelet Bro,' Dan. Hoping they could work the case from the sidelines. Except, that's exactly what Dan was already doing. Leading the two to look through the paperwork together. Overtime…

Lucifer: I can't believe there's so much paperwork for one single convent. I mean, they're nuns after all. How many thing can happen to them, really?

Dan: A single convent? These are all just the files on Mother Angelica.

Lucifer: What? This is going to take forever. It'd be much faster in person, Daniel. I could seduce the truth out of them.

Dan: Bro, there are 30 nuns there. I doubt that's faster.

Lucifer: Well, it's certainly more fun.

Dan: Come on, this is fun.

Lucifer: Is it?

Dan: A murder, man, it's like a… it's like a gigantic puzzle, only you don't know what the corner pieces are, or what it's going to look like when it's done.

Lucifer: You just described torture. Trust me, I know.

Dan: It could take hours, days, years even, man.

Lucifer: Definitely torture. I see all your self-help nonsense has gone for naught.

Dan: But nothing in the world feels better than when you find that one piece, and then boom. Suddenly it all clicks together.

Lucifer: Oh, hello. Oh, I think I've found the piece Daniel. (Shows that he's written, 'This is Sad' on a clipboard) Let me talk to them.

Dan: Shortcuts are not the answer, Lucifer. Hard work… pays off.

By the time they finally brought in Mother Angelica, Lucifer was already planning to make his way into the interrogation room when…

Lucifer: Brother.

Amenadiel: Oh, Luci.

Lucifer: What on earth are you doing here?

Amenadiel: Chloe asked me to help with her case.

Lucifer: *Chuckles* Right. You're not joking? But I need this case solved quickly. Much as I appreciate you playing Detective Amenadiel, perhaps you should leave it the professionals.

Amenadiel: Like the Devil?

Lucifer: I'm a consultant. I understand human desire. You're just…

Amenadiel: Just the one who found our latest suspect.

Lucifer: *Chuckles* Oh, really. Really?

Amenadiel: You know, Chloe and I actually make a really great team. I can see why you enjoy working with her. If you'll excuse me, I'm just gonna… (Enters the interrogation room)

When Amenadiel entered the interrogation room, Lucifer stood stunned by the fact that Chloe asked his brother to help with a case instead of him.

Anyway, upon bringing her into interrogation, Mother Angelica began explaining her story. She was born the worst neighbourhood imaginable in Puerto Rico, and when she was 16, she killed a man in self-defence. Afterwards, she fled to Los-Angeles to escape retribution and eventually found reconciliation in the arms of God.

As said before, most of the nuns knew about her secret. Including Sister Victoria, who like the rest, was very understanding. Which also meant, it was beginning to look like that Mother Angelica was uninvolved with Sister Victoria's death. Furthermore, she had an alibi. However from Chloe's perspective…

Chloe: Well, unfortunately, your alibi is a bunch of nuns who have proven that they'll cover for you.

Amenadiel: *Using his newfound mojo on Mother Angelica* Are you sure, there isn't anything else you want to tell us?

Mother Angelica: I can see why sisters were so eager to talk with you. If there was more I could tell, I would, but that's all I have. Everything else is in God's hands. If this is the path He wants me on… He must have his reasons.

Chloe: You're really willing to give up your freewill, just like that?

Mother Angelica: I am willing to have faith.

Chloe: Oh, come on.

Mother Angelica: I know that look in your eyes. Over the years, our convent has taken in many women like you, women who feel powerless, adrift. You have more control then you think, my child.

Chloe: *Scoffs* Which is it? Control or faith? You can't have it both ways.

Mother Angelica: I have faith in you, Detective. You help the helpless. It takes great strength to do that, and I think you have strength to find who really did this.

From outside, Lucifer waited impatiently for Chloe and Amenadiel to exit from the interrogation room. At one point, he even spiked Dan's coffee. Nevertheless, Dan and Lucifer looked over Sister Victoria's phone records and discovered that sge was getting frequent phone-calls from popstar, Destiny Page.

As soon as they showed the report to Chloe, she questioned Mother Angelica about Destiny Page and learned that the popstar tried to buy the convent and was upset when Mother Angelica turned her down. When Chloe and Amenadiel took a step back for a private conversation…

Chloe: Why would Destiny Page be calling a nun at a convent that she wants to buy?

Amenadiel: Well, her latest album was testament to be a newfound faith, and the one she's working on is supposed to continue in that vein. (Realizes that he just openly admitted to being a Destiny Page fan to his brother's love interest/his sister's best friend) Please don't tell Lucifer or Jophiel.

With Destiny Page as a new suspect, Mother Angelica was longer considered a suspect in the case. However, she will most likely be prosecuted for her previous crimes, but if required with a experienced attorney, she'll have a chance of either a reduced sentence or even probation.

Moreover, by the time Mother Angelica was being escorted out, Lucifer stood by waiting to gloat on his brother's failure for catching the wrong suspect. When Joei approached him after attending one of her meetings…

Joei: Hey, Luci. So I hear Amenadiel is helping Chloe with her case.

Lucifer: Yep, and he's already failing at it. Look. (Points to Mother Angelica being escorted out before turning to Amenadiel) Ah, wrong suspect. Rookie move. Are you sure your powers are gone? Because it feels like you're slowing down time.

Amenadiel: Because you always get the first suspect right away?

Lucifer: Well, I've certainly never arrested a nun, that's for sure.

Amenadiel: Lucifer, I want Chloe to resolve her issues just as much you do.

Lucifer: Why? Because you're feeling guilty?

Joei: Ah, Luci…

Amenadiel: Why would I feel guilty?

Joei: Um, brothers, seriously…

Lucifer: Because you're the one who performed the 'little miracle' on the Detective's mom in the first place.

Amenadiel: That wasn't mine…

Chloe: You what?!

# I was just going to tell them that Chloe was standing right in front of us.

Wanting answers, Chloe had the three Angels sit next to each other in the interrogation room (Joei sat in-between her brothers) before allowing them to explain everything.

Chloe: Go ahead, talk.

Amenadiel: (Sees his siblings signalling him to explain) Years ago, at Father's behest, I came down to Earth to lay a blessing on own… Penelope Decker.

Chloe: Wha…? My mum and dad were… were trying to have kids, and they said they'd just about given up.

Amenadiel: And soon after my visit… you were born.

Chloe: Um… Amenadiel… Your my dad?

In response, the three siblings laughed in a slightly awkward manner because to them, it was a silly and untrue notion. Futhermore, once informed, Chloe asked…

Chloe: So, 'laid a blessing' isn't a euphemism?

Lucifer: Well, not in this case, at least.

Amenadiel: What, no, Chloe, no. Luci, stop.

Joei: Shut up, luci.

Amenadiel: Listen, Chloe, your parents are still your parents, and I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you any of this earlier.

Joei: And I had nothing to do with any of this.

Amenadiel: Well… not personally.

Joei: What do you mean, not personally?

Lucifer: Yes, brother, what do you mean by not personally?

Amenadiel: Ah, Jopheil, do you remember the night you left the Silver-City? But beforehand… you left behind a small lock of your hair?

Joei: Yeah…

Chloe: Okay, what does Joei's hair have to do with me?

Amenadiel: Well, when Father sent me down here to bless your parents, he requested that I use a very small piece of Joei's hair to actually… bestow the gift.

Lucifer: Wait, are you saying that the Detective was made using her hair?

Amenadiel: Only from a single strand, so it's nothing too dramatic. But if it's any consultation, it probably explains a few things about you, Chloe...

It actually did in some way. For example, during the events of their very first case together, Lucifer attempted to draw out Chloe's desire, but she proved to be completely immune to his devilish charm. To this day, Lucifer is still unable to figure out Chloe's deepest desires. (Even though he learned to completely accept it without any further questions) When Chloe acknowledged this…

Chloe: Okay. It's okay. So… I'm the only one immune to Lucifer's mojo? And since I was made from a piece of 'Angle hair'… does that mean I have any powers, or… anything cool? (The three siblings looked to her with confusion) I don't know, laser-beam hands, something? (The three siblings look to each other before looking down) No. No, of course not. They were just concerned with creating the 'Perfect Mrs Morningstar.' Why me?

Amenadiel: I don't know, Chloe?

Lucifer: Detective, when I found out about this… 'manipulation,' I felt the same way as you. But then, I realized that it's far from a curse, it's a gift. I only hope, in time you come to see that way too.

Chloe: There is a huge difference, Lucifer. You were given a gift, I am that gift. I mean, I'm not even a person. I'm just a thing. Created from a piece of 'Angel hair' in order to cross paths with someone else. And… I gotta get back to work.

With that, Chloe left the room, feeling even more adrift then before. As for Lucifer, Jophiel, and Amenadiel they remained in the interrogation room until Lucifer said...

Lucifer: Well, that went well.

Meanwhile, throughout the investigation, an angry Maze had finally returned from her trip to Reno. After finding 'the Bitch' she called her mother and learning the reason why she abandoned her and her siblings, Maze went over to Linda's office to vent out her anger as she's now found the true source behind her abandonment issues.

However, as Maze expressed her feelings of anger and abandonment, she soon found herself feeling confused when Linda suddenly started defending Lilith. Believing she was simply too young and afraid to handle raising a child and probably regretted her decision.

Except, that wasn't Lilith at all. She was over 12 thousands years old when she had Maze, she certainly wasn't afraid to be a mother, she simply left her children because she felt like it and was happy with the result. When asked why Linda was defending the woman who abandoned her best friend, Linda said…

Linda: Because I get it.

Maze: You're a great mother, Linda. You'd never do that to Charlie.

Linda: No. Not Charlie.

Maze: What are you saying?

Linda: When I was very young… I had a baby. …A girl. And…

Maze: And you abandoned her?

Before she could have a chance to explain, Maze immediately got up and walked away disgusted by the fact that Linda did the very thing her own mother did. Eventually, Maze came back and allowed Linda to explain her side of the story. The very story that would explain why Linda has always felt unworthy of Heaven.

Ever since she discovered the truth about divinity, Linda has always believed that when her time comes, she'll go down to Hell. Her story was about to answer that very belief.

Linda: Thank you for coming back, for being willing to listen. *Sighs* I haven't told anyone this. I got pregnant when I was 17. And I spent the entire pregnancy in denial. Even when I started to deliver, I thought… there had to be a mistake. But then… after the birth… when I held her… Well, there was no denying that… she was mine… and I was her mom. But then they took her to the NICU and… the whole thing… seemed like a dream. One… One that I was completely unprepared to handle.

Maze: Your baby was a nightmare. Got it.

Linda: No. God, no. No, she was perfect… and beautiful, and… And I didn't have the strength to raise her. And I didn't have the strength to face giving her up. So… so when the nurses were away… I left.

Maze: So you just… you just walked away? Is that why you think you're going to Hell?

Linda: I thought I could pretend it never happened, but the truth is… The truth is, Maze… I think about her every single day. I've even tried to find her a couple of times. I wonder where she is now. Or how's she doing.

Maze: She seems good.

Linda: What?

Before returning to hear Linda's story, Maze took it upon herself to track down Linda's daughter! It didn't take long for Maze to find and learn everything about her. In addition, Maze decided to take Linda to see her. In doing so, Linda learned that her daughter's name is Adriana; a loving family adopted her shortly after she was left at the hospital, and she's been living a happy life. In fact, she currently works in real-estate. Which is where they were about to meet.

Linda and Maze met Adriana at an open house she was selling. Upon meeting her, Linda stood astonished by how beautiful and similar her daughter looks to her! Same skin, same blonde hair same eyes, and of course, both wear glasses.

However, because Linda felt so anxious about meeting her daughter, she lied and said that she and Maze were potential buyers for the house and asked for a tour. Although she was afraid to tell the truth, Linda was still able to learn a little bit about Adriana.

Even when Maze began asking inappropriate questions that related more to her situation (Regarding adoption and abandonment), Linda could still see that Adriana is kind-hearted and is truly happy with her life. In fact, when the word adoption was mentioned, Adriana openly said it was the best thing to ever happen to her. As for Maze's questions, Linda could also see her true intentions, leading her to drag Maze outside, and confront her for her inappropriate behaviour.

Linda: What are you doing?

Maze: I am trying to get you to connect with your kid.

Linda: Oh, really? Cause seems to me like you're making it about yourself, while trying to torture me in the process.

Maze: Or, maybe I am trying to get you to tell your daughter the truth.

Linda: *Sighs* I can't. you tracked down your mother because you were ready to see her. But who knows when… or if Adriana will ever be ready to see me. I'm realizing it needs to be up to her.

Maze: Coward.

Linda: I'm not Lilith. If you have something you need to say to your mother… you should say to her.

Regardless of offending Linda for being too scared to officially meet Adriana, Maze still followed her advice, and went back to her mother's apartment in Reno the next morning to say her peace. But alas… Maze came in too late. She arrived to find repo-men and the landlord packing away Lilith's things and being told that she had died a couple of days ago.

Wanting a moment alone, the landlord and the repo-men left the room to let Maze grieve in her mother's old, small and rundown apartment. As Maze looked through Lilith's belongings that weren't even going to be pasted down to anyone, because Lilith had absolutely no one in her life to pass them down to, Maze soon found Lily Rose's poster from when she performed at 'The Garden Club,' causing Maze's grief to turn into rage when she tossed the framed poster against the wall.

Elsewhere, Chloe continued working the case by going over to meet Destiny Page at her studio. Which proved to be difficult at first because of Destiny's obnoxious bodyguard, Hank standing in her way. That is until Hank was called away when Amenadiel showed up in Destiny's dressing-room thinking she'd react the same way the nuns did because he believed she was religious because he found her kneeling.

Expect Destiny Page wasn't kneeling to pray, she was actually reaching for a bottle of vodka she had hid underneath her makeup-table. Revelling that she's a recovering alcoholic and from the way she didn't react to Amenadiel's new mojo, it also meant that she wasn't really religious either.

As for Sister Victoria, Destiny confessed that Victoria was actually her assistant, and when Mother Angelica turned down her offer to buy the convent, she sent in Victoria to go undercover as a nun to gather information. But overtime, Victoria eventually fell in love and decided to embrace the life of a nun.

Furthermore, when Chloe asks for an alibi, Destiny claimed she attended an AA meeting and even received her one-month sobriety chip before a goat ate it when she attended goat yoga afterwards. All while wearing a black bob cut wig and pink hoodie.

Because the chip was the only object that could prove Destiny's innocence, Chloe sent Dan and Lucifer over to goat yoga to search for the chip in… the goat droppings. Well, Dan was the one who searched through the goat poop while Lucifer stood around moaning for trying to rush Chloe.

Nevertheless, still wanting to make things right, Lucifer decided to actually help and work the case properly by talking to the witnesses while Dan continued to search for the chip. Eventually, Dan found the chip and after reading the transcripts while also speaking with the teacher, Lucifer confirmed that Destiny Page did indeed attend the class while wearing black bob cut wig and pink hoodie. Proving she's not the killer.

Which sadly meant, they were back to square one. At least until Dan noticed the teacher wearing her engagement ring as a necklace to prevent the goats from eating of her hands. Following their suspicions, Lucifer and Dan went to see Joei to confirm their theory.

During which, Chloe and Amenadiel were sitting at her desk and even when they briefly reached a dead-end, Amenadiel sat admiring Chloe's inability to give up searching until she's found the right and truthful answers. No matters how many dead-ends she hits.

Chloe: You make me sound like a sadist. Then again, I was made from two Angels.

Amenadiel: *Chuckles* No. You see, for eons, I was God's right hand, you know? And for most of the time, I had no idea why I was doing what I was doing. But watching your perseverance, to see you keep digging for the truth, it's… it's inspiring. And I don't think it has any to do with Jophiel's ability to give inspiration. And I also wish I would have had the same curiosity, because then… maybe I would've had the answers that you're asking for, Chloe. But unfortunately I don't. And neither does Lucifer.

Lucifer: I know who the killer is.

Dan: We know who the killer is.

After asking Joei to draw a reconstructed diagram of the contusions on Victoria's neck, Lucifer and Dan had officially confirmed their suspicions. They discovered that the markings were consistent with an engagement ring that Victoria secretly wore around her neck while she was undercover. Leading to the conclusion that when Victoria wanted to become a nun for real, she also had to end her relationship with her fiancé, leading him to kill Victoria and steal the ring back.

Although she approved of their very likely theory, Chloe still pointed out that there was no still official identification of the mysterious fiancé. That is until they were interrupted by the sudden arrival of one of the nuns, Sister Francine, who requested to with Amenadiel in private.

When he took her to the interrogation room (With the others watching from the observation room), Amenadiel could see that Sister Francine was nervous about something. But when Amenadiel convinced her to relax and realise her truth… she suddenly started kissing him! Shocking Lucifer, Chloe and Dan in the process. (Lucifer was secretly amused by the outcome)

Moreover, when the kissing stopped, Sister Francine instantly regretted her decision, yet, she couldn't figure out the true source behind her actions. Until Amenadiel helped her clarify things.

Sister Francine: This is wrong. I'm a nun. I love God, it's just… when I looked at you, I… get this feeling that I've never had before. What does that say about me?

Amenadiel: What are feeling?

Sister Francine: it's going to sound absurd, but… I feel as I'm closer to God… But that's not exactly It, it's…

Amenadiel: Like your love for God is being reflected back at you… through me.

Sister Francine: Yes. that's exactly it. How did you know? I did even know that until you just said it out loud.

Amenadiel: I'm starting to understand something.

Alongside this eye-opening development, Amenadiel also discovered from Sister Francine that Victoria found a secret room in the convent. Which would have been the perfect place to meet her secret fiancé.

With the case coming close to a close, Chloe was sorting through the last of case files at her desk when Lucifer stood before her smiling. Because if Chloe was close to solving the case, then it meant they'll have a better chance to finally resolve their issues. However…

Chloe: Lucifer, I know what you're thinking. That once this is case is solved, I'll have magically figured everything out and it'll all be fine, right?

Lucifer: Well, I'm definitely not thinking about that now.

Chloe: Look, I… I want us to be together. I really do. I just don't… I don't know how long it's going to take me to get over this. I may never…

Lucifer: I understand, Detective?

Chloe: You do?

Lucifer: There no shortcuts. Just… take all the time you need.

Chloe: Are you sure?

Even though it was a very mature decision for Chloe's sake, it still deeply bothered Lucifer to learn… that he and Chloe probably won't get a chance to be together.

Later on, after asking for the blueprints for the convent, Chloe and Amenadiel eventually found the secret door in the bookcase that lead to a secret cellar. Once downstairs, they searched for an out of place object containing fingerprints.

Only to find themselves confronted at gunpoint by the killer/fiancé who revealed to be… Destiny Page's bodyguard, Hank! Not only was he Victoria's secret fiancé, he was also an atheist. So was Victoria until she wanted to join the convent. And when she broke-up him, they fought because he wanted the ring back and as result, he pushed her too hard.

Furthermore, as Hank kept ranting about how everything Victoria left him for was all just a bunch of 'made up nonsense and a scam, Amenadiel and Chloe had already heard enough. Before Hank was about to pull the trigger, Amenadiel had already stepped in front of Chloe Just a Hank began shooting him five times in the chest.

In process of seeing Amenadiel completely unharmed from his bullets, Hank stood in shock by how it was even possible. To even further his shock, Amenadiel stood before Hank and exposed his Grey Angel-wings and used them to blow him away as punishment for taking away Victoria's chances of fully believing in faith! Afterwards, the now angelophobic Hank was arrested for Victoria's murder.

Even though he shouldn't have exposed himself to a random human, Amenadiel believed it felt appropriate for what Hank had done. Although she agreed, Chloe still remembered how punishing it is when humans learn that it all really exists. Which is what lead Amenadiel to acknowledge his latest epiphany. Recalling his previous conversation with Sister Francine, he made a realization that answered the very questions Chloe has been asking.

Amenadiel: Chloe, I think I know why the nuns were drawn to me. And I also think I know the true reason why Father wanted me to use a piece of Joei's hair.

Chloe: Oh. Why is that?

Amenadiel: Sister Francine said she felt God's love more than ever when she was with me. You know, when she was in my presence.

Chloe: Well… Yes, you are an Angel.

Amenadiel: I am, but I'm pretty sure that she was seeing her own faith reflected back at her.

Chloe: Okay. Why do you think that?

Amenadiel: Lucifer, actually. Men, women, they're all drawn to him because he pulls out peoples desires. And Jophiel's the same with her ability to give people inspiration. But… what if the reason they're all drawn to them is because that?

Chloe: So you're saying, Lucifer and Joei… reflect peoples desires and inspirations back to them?

Amenadiel: Well, who wouldn't want to be with their greatest desire or inspiration?

Chloe: Yes… Yes, I agree, but… when I look at them… I,I,I don't see that. Which would mean…

Amenadiel… That you're the only mortal who seems them. For who they truly are. And the reason behind that… is because of that tiny piece of Jophiel's hair. You see, she has the ability to truly look at people. She sees the beauty within and sees people for who they truly are. Not matter where they come from or what they look like. So that piece of Joei's hair…

Chloe: Gave me a little bit of that ability. *Lightly gasps* So… everything Lucifer and I shared and… everything I was afraid was a manipulation…

Amenadiel: Is as real as it gets. You're 'the' gift, Chloe. That is.

After much consideration, Chloe knew everything Amenadiel said was 100% true. She wasn't born to be a gift, she was born 'with' a gift. The gift to see Lucifer Morningstar for who he truly is. Which meant… she truly is in love with the Devil. All by her own freewill and because Joei's hair gave her that very ability to see the beauty within all his flaws, all his antics and of course, his true Devil form. However, there was still one more question Chloe needed answered.

Chloe: Yes, but I… I make him vulnerable.

Amenadiel: That's something else I wanted to talk to you about.

Later in the evening over at Linda's house, Maze hands her a database realise form for biological parents. So when Adriana is ready, she can find Linda for ease. Even though it was the best choice for Linda, Maze still advised her to actually give her daughter the choice of wanting to see her by telling her the truth first. Although it was very good advice, Linda could also see the hurt within Maze's eyes…

Linda: You saw your mother again, didn't you? What did you say to her?

Maze: Nothing. I didn't get to say that 'I hate you.' I didn't get to say that 'I forgive you.' I didn't get to say anything. Because she's gone. She died, Linda.

Without needing to say another word, Linda simply walked forward and gave the grieving Maze a well needed hug Linda while she cries into her shoulder.

Elsewhere, in the aftermath of her enlightening conversation with Amenadiel, Chloe went up to the penthouse to share it with Lucifer. She found him playing a soft melody on his brand new piano.

Chloe: Hi, Lucifer.

Lucifer: Detective.

Chloe: You mind if I sit?

Lucifer: Please. (Scooches over so she can sit next to him on the piano)

Chloe: Well, I had a… Interesting conversation with Amenadiel.

Lucifer: Please, tell me you're making him police consultant. Anything but that.

Chloe: *Lightly giggles* Ah, no, actually. He has, um, a theory about why I make you vulnerable.

Lucifer: Oh. Do tell.

Chloe: Well, his theory is that… I don't.

Lucifer: Well, I have many scars to prove otherwise.

Chloe: He thinks that… you choose to be vulnerable around me.

Lucifer: I choose to be…?

The more he thought about it, the more Lucifer began to think back and realized… Amenadiel was right. He didn't become vulnerable around Chloe until a few weeks after they had already met. Which was before he even knew he was slowing beginning to fall in love with her. Furthermore, upon making this incredible realization, Lucifer looked to Chloe and said…

Lucifer: Well, I'll be damned. I think he might right. I… Detective.

With Amenadiel's theory officially confirmed and knowing that every cut, bruise, scratch, shot, stab, burnt and even impalement wound Lucifer had endured over the last few years since they've worked together were the result of him choosing to get hurt for her, Chloe decided…

Chloe: Lucifer… If… if that's true. If you choose to be vulnerable around me… Then I choose to be vulnerable around you.

To prove this, Chloe began to slowly lean forward to kiss him. Of course, Lucifer did the same. And when lips finally met, Lucifer slowly backed away to ensure what was happening was indeed real. Whereas Chloe almost thought, it was him pulling away from her. But instead, Lucifer looked into her eyes, gently grabbed the back of her head and pulled her into what was probably the longest kiss they've ever shared.

A kiss that meant they could finally be together. No more lies, no more manipulations, no more denying their feelings for each other, and no longer allowing anything or anyone to give them a reason to say no. it was Lucifer and Chloe who've always been in love and were officially having a chance to be a real couple. All by their own freewill.

I loved the ending of this episode. Hope you've enjoyed reading this, because the next chapter… is based on what probably is my favourite episode in the whole series! See ya next time.
