Chapter 2
"Damn. Lost again," Haley said.
"Here, give it here," said Kelly. "I'll show you how it is done for that part."
Haley gave up and handed the controls to her older sister. She watched as Kelly played the game and got away from the killer while completing the tasks. Haley knew she wasn't as good as her sister, but she enjoyed the game regardless.
"You're so good at Dead by Daylight," Haley said. "A complete natural."
"You'll get the hang of it," said Kelly. "Trust me."
"If you say so," said Haley. "I'm done playing for the day. I'm going to go find Orion."
"I think he was in his office last," said Kelly.
"I'll go check it out," said Haley. "See ya sis."
"See ya," Kelly called back.
Haley went down the hall of the military base.
"Hey Haley," Lennox greeted.
"Hey Lennox," said Haley.
"Where are you headed?" the man asked.
"To go be with Orion," said Haley.
"He's in the office. I just left there," said Lennox. "Have fun."
"I will," said Haley.
Haley stopped at the office door, knocking on it.
"Come in."
She opened the human door and waltzed in. She smiled as she saw Orion concentrating on a datapad. He had shared leadership with his counterparts, so he would work on some of the reports. Orion turned to look at who had come in and smiled softly. He offered a servo to his soulmate, allowing her up onto the desk.
"Hello Haley. What brings you?" Orion asked.
"I missed you," said Haley. "So, I came to see you."
"I've missed you as well," Orion said.
"I was thinking that maybe tonight we could hang out, and go for a ride, grab a bite to eat," said Haley.
"Oh?" Orion asked.
"When will you be finished for the day?" Haley asked.
"Once I'm done with this datapad," said Orion.
"Good,"
"Yes, I am sure it is," said Orion with slight humor in his voice.
"You are so cute, dear one," Orion said, activating his holoform and pulling her in for a kiss.
"Awe, thanks my star," said Haley.
The woman waited patiently for Orion to finish up. His holoform kept a hold on her, his arms wrapped around her middle. When he did, he picked her up and headed to the main hanger.
"Good thing we are going out for dinner. The meatloaf looks drier than the Sahara Desert," said Haley.
Orion laughed at that remark. He transformed down around her and headed off the base. They would get their small fueling started early. He pulled up into a small fast-food joint and parked. Orion activated his human holoform and gave Haley a quick kiss. They got out and headed inside, ordering their food. Orion and Haley found a place in a corner by a window as they waited for their order to come up. When their number was called, Orion went up to grab the tray.
A man had bumped into Orion on his way. Orion steadied the man, so he didn't fall.
"Are you okay?" Orion asked.
"Yes," said the man. "Sorry about that. I got distracted by a message from my boss."
"There was no harm done," said Orion.
The man nodded. He noticed the unusual blue eyes and looked the man up and down behind his shades before he walked to the counter, grabbing his bag of food and leaving. Orion watched for a bit, getting strange vibes from the man. He shook it off, grabbed the tray of food, and went back to his mate.
"Here we are," said Orion, setting it down.
"Sweet. I'm hungry," Haley said, tracing her finger on his chest for a bit. "Let's eat!"
Orion sat next to her and ate as well. His mind wandered back to the man that had bumped into him earlier. Something was off about him, but he didn't know what.
