Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics
Ch 20: Arcane
Hinata smiled happily as he crossed the street, continuing down the sidewalk past the hattery and dress shops, perking his ears towards the café nearby. The beta he was looking for was already there, tall and slender, his dark hair highlighted with splashes of bright sunshine, the omega grinning and skipping over to him while calling out cheerily, "Kageyama! Sorry if I made you wait! I missed the first train and had to wait on another!"
The beta perked his ears up while turning to face him, offering Hinata a small smile and shrugging lightly, tilting one of his ears to the side. "It's alright. It gave me some time to familiarize myself with the menu." He nodded towards the entryway, asking gingerly, "Did you want to eat inside?"
"On the balcony, actually! If that's alright?" He stepped past the beta's shoulder and waved to the hostess nearby, turning and ascending the flight of stairs leading up to the terrace, Kageyama following after him quietly as he looked towards the dainty tables and floral arrangements nearby.
He took a seat across from Hinata once the omega found a table he liked, humming softly and catching Hinata's eyes, the omega perking his ears up and watching him cheerily. "My sister mentioned she supplies fresh arrangements for events here." He said casually, Hinata's eyes following Kageyama's towards the tables nearby. "They must be having a gathering for lunch later. They've already started setting out the arrangements to soak up the sunlight."
Hinata watched the beta curiously, his expressions open and bright. "You said you've been helping your sister out around the shoppe for almost a year now?"
"Yeah." Kageyama hummed quietly, resting his forearm against the tabletop while tracing his fingers along the edge of a butter-knife absently. "We moved to this neighborhood about two years ago. Took almost a year to cultivate the garden and officially open up the shoppe, and I've been helping Shimizu out with things ever since."
Hinata tilted his ears slightly, thinking to himself for a moment before asking, "You don't call your sister by her first name? The two of you seemed pretty close."
Kageyama blinked at that, letting out a soft laugh and shaking his head. "Yeah, no we are. I guess I'm just in the habit of calling her that, since we're more formal with one another at work." His expression softened a bit, and he added hesitantly, "When we're alone together, we call one another by our first names. She means a lot to me. She's taken care of me since we were kids."
Hinata perked his ears at that, curious as to what Kageyama meant, but the waitress appeared a moment later ready to take their orders, and Hinata redirected his attention to reply to the little beta before settling back into his chair with a happy sigh. Kageyama ordered something as well, perking his ears towards Hinata as the waitress stepped away, the omega grinning excitedly while saying, "Wait until you try the sweets here, Kageyama! The fruit tarts are amazing, and the cakes are delicious as well!"
Kageyama offered Hinata a small, friendly smile and tucked his ears back a bit, glancing away from the table and out across the streets below, his gaze trailing over the shops nearby. "This neighborhood is pretty fancy. I'm not sure if I've ever tried anything quite like this before." He thought to himself for a moment before returning his gaze to Hinata, holding his eyes and asking curiously, "You've lived in this city your entire life?"
Hinata nodded, smiling happily. "Yes I have! I love this city so much! The metro is so convenient, and the neighborhoods are all so dainty and unique!" He smiled to himself, thinking about his shared apartment with the twins and Bokuto. "The neighborhood I live in with my partners is nice as well, but I guess you're right, this boulevard in particular is rather fancy compared to most!"
"Yeah…" Kageyama breathed, his voice trailing off, Hinata watching him curiously, wondering why he sounded so overwhelmed.
"Have you not lived here for long?" He asked, tilting his head slightly as Kageyama shook his head, the beta resting his cheek against his hand while thinking of how he wanted to respond before opting to speak.
"We moved to this city a little over two years ago. The only reason we moved here was because Shimizu had finally saved up enough money for us to move out of the place where we lived before." He hummed softly, shrugging lightly. "We're lucky I guess, that her flower shoppe ended up being pretty popular. We live comfortably now, we have a nice little townhouse in a smaller neighborhood nearby, and we have a bit of extra money tucked away just in case." He smiled a little, his expression distant. "It's more than I ever imagined we would have, more than I thought was possible for us. She's done so well, I'm so proud of her. She's great at everything she sets her mind to."
Hinata smiled, blushing faintly at Kageyama's tone. It sounded more like he was thinking fondly of a lover, than an older sister. "Where did you live before you moved to this city?"
Kageyama frowned a little, sitting up slightly and sighing deeply before settling back in his chair. He was quiet for a while, one of his ears twitching lightly as he said softly, "I moved around a lot for a few years before we moved here together, so for a while there I didn't really have a place I considered an actual home." He closed his eyes for a moment, then returned his gaze to Hinata. "Before that though, I lived in a little apartment with my sister in the slums of another city. She was working as a waitress at a tiny diner, and I was just a stupid kid playing gigs at a sub-class bar down the street." He glanced up towards the sky, watching the fluffy clouds drifting slowly by. "I guess that was about six years ago now. I had just turned eighteen when I joined the band at The Burrow."
Hinata smiled and leaned closer, watching Kageyama with interest. "Oh wow! You lived in a sub-class neighborhood? I've never even seen one before! What was it like? How long did you live there?"
Kageyama nodded slowly, thinking back and recalling what details he could. "It was a completely different world down there, living in the slums as a lupine. There were people living on the streets, people destitute, people starving. Shimizu and I were some of the lucky ones." His expression was soft, and his tone was tender as he added quietly, "The sub-class kids I met while I was there, they ended up being the closest people to me in the world. My bandmates, y'know? I've never met anyone else like them. I'll never forget them, for as long as I live."
Hinata thought about the bandmates he had met before, asking hesitantly, "You were in a different band before?"
Kageyama nodded, smiling and gesturing lightly as he spoke. "Yeah, when I was first starting out. Back before I'd even thought about creating my own, I was a guitarist in this sub-class band. We never really had a name for it, Kairoh and Chai argued about it all the time. Oriole or Flightless, and they just couldn't agree on a name to save their lives!" He sighed and shook his head, perking his ears towards the waitress as she approached. "We made letter jackets eventually, but I think they just pissed off Kairoh even more. He never did wear one, even when we had one custom-made for his wings."
"Wings?" Hinata asked, his eyes wide as the waitress set down their drinks and sweets then stepped away, Kageyama nodding and smiling while picking up his fork, poking at his cake for a moment before taking a forkful and trying a bite.
"Yeah, the lead vocalist of our band was named Kairoh. He was an oniscine. Black feathers, orange highlights. He looked like an oriole I guess, and as conceited as it was he wanted to name the band after himself." He perked his ears up slightly, smiling as he spoke. "His best friend Di'a was our drummer, a musteline. Classic black and white stripes, dyed his hair to match, the whole shebang. Kairoh's girlfriend Zeryce was our bassist, a leporine. She had the prettiest golden fur, and these beautiful, tall ears with cream-colored tufts." He took his time spearing another forkful of cake, his voice hitching lightly as he spoke. "Then there was ah, there was Tulousse, our keyboardist. Precious little ovine. He had these horns that spiraled just above his ears, complete corkscrew. Really unique looking. Head full of curls."
His fingers were trembling slightly as he took another bite of cake, and he chewed slowly while setting his fork aside, taking a moment to blink away tears before he swallowed thickly and glanced away from Hinata's eyes.
"There was also another guitarist in our band, besides me. His name was Chai. He was a pteropine." He closed his eyes, taking in a quiet breath to steady himself before exhaling slowly, tilting one of his ears slightly as he met Hinata's eyes again, the omega dipping back his ears slightly, watching the emotions churning in Kageyama's eyes. "He was ah…" He laughed softly, sniffing and reaching up to wipe roughly against his cheeks, hiding the stray tears that dripped from the corners of his eyes. "He was my first boyfriend. So, yeah I guess...when you asked me if there was someone I've ever wanted to bond with, I should have said that I would have bonded with Chai, if he was still alive."
Hinata tucked his ears back fully and reached across the table to touch Kageyama's hand, crooning softly and scooting a little closer, searching his eyes. "Oh no. Oh, I'm so sorry Kageyama. You don't have to talk about it, it's alright if you don't want to-"
"No, no I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm crying like this. It happened years ago." He laughed and wiped at his eyes again, pinching the bridge of his nose for a moment before sniffing and shaking his head, giving Hinata an apologetic look. "It just gets to me some days. Guess I've been feeling a bit raw lately…"
Hinata nodded slowly, squeezing Kageyama's hand. "I understand, Kageyama. I'm sorry for your loss. There was someone I lost recently, and I loved him very, very much too."
Kageyama perked his ears up a little at that, searching Hinata's eyes before asking hesitantly, "Not one of your partners?"
"No." Hinata breathed out a quiet sigh of relief, continuing softly, "No, he wasn't my partner, but he was a dear, sweet friend." He arched his brow, offering Kageyama a gentle smile, squeezing his hand again while asking, "So...since you lost your partner, years ago...there hasn't been anyone you've wanted to bond with since?"
"There hasn't been anyone." Kageyama said softly, Hinata not understanding for a moment before his eyes widened.
"You mean...you haven't dated anyone else since?" He blinked in surprise, thinking about how much time had elapsed given what Kageyama had told him before. "You haven't had another partner since your first boyfriend?"
"Yeah." Kageyama said quietly, nodding his head. "Not sure if I'll ever have another, if I'm honest." He glanced down at his cake, picking up his fork again, Hinata withdrawing slightly and watching the beta quietly, frowning a little and picking up his fork as well, poking at the strawberries atop his fruit tart.
"Is it because…" Hinata started hesitantly, spearing one of the strawberries and lifting it to his mouth slowly, "...you think you'll never be able to love anyone the same way again? Or...because it hurts too much to think about the possibility of losing someone again?" Kageyama watched Hinata quietly for a few moments, the omega meeting his eyes and ducking back his ears while adding quickly, "Oh gosh, I'm sorry Kageyama! I know we only just met, and it's absolutely none of my business. I...I have no place even asking such a thing!" He worried his lip, his fork falling again as he rested his hand against the table, the omega searching the beta's eyes for a long moment before saying quietly, "I don't...I don't mean to be insensitive or anything, I just...I can't imagine what that must be like, thinking that you're going to spend the rest of your life alone..."
Kageyama watched Hinata quietly for a long moment before he exhaled slowly, closing his eyes and nodding hesitantly, his brow pinched as he let out a soft, sad peal of laughter. "Yeah, yeah it's uh...it's both of those things, I guess. I mean…" He closed his eyes, thinking for a moment before he continued, "...it's not like I would be alone, even if I never dated anyone ever again. I have my bandmates, my current friends, and my sister." He shrugged a little, licking icing from his upper lip before taking another bite. "I'm not sure if it's something I can handle, falling in love again. I gave Chai everything. He was my future. Everything I ever wanted died with him that night."
Hinata frowned again, arching his brow and nodding his understanding, picking at his fruit tart for a moment longer before finally taking a bite. He didn't say anything else, taking a few small bites and chewing slowly while Kageyama watched him silently, not certain what Hinata's expression meant, or if there was something else the omega wanted to say.
Kageyama watched Hinata for a while, finishing his cake before perking his ears up and reaching for his glass, taking a sip and hesitating for a moment before chuckling softly, asking teasingly as he tilted his glass towards the sky, "You wear your heart on your sleeve, don't ya kid? You look so sad over what I've said, but we're complete strangers, you and me. You don't have to grieve with me, or pity me. I can handle things on my own. I take care of myself."
"But you shouldn't have to." Hinata said, and his tone was almost angry, the omega pinching his brow and meeting Kageyama's eyes, his irises bright honey-gold in the sunlight. "You shouldn't have to be afraid of love, you shouldn't have to live your life alone. It might seem impossible, it might seem like there will never be someone else you'll ever love, but how do you know that if you won't even try?"
Kageyama set his glass aside, leaning across the table, searching Hinata's eyes. "You can say that, and it's all well and good in theory, but you have no idea what it was like for me, what I went through after losing Chai." He folded his hands, his knuckles taut as he clenched his fingers. "The thought of dating, the thought of being romantically attached to anyone that way ever again, of being even half as attached to someone else as I was to Chai, it would break me. I would die. I'd kill myself before I'd go through that again."
"Don't say that." Hinata said, and the tremor in his voice caught Kageyama off-guard, the beta frowning a little and tilting one of his ears back a bit before perking his ears towards Hinata once more.
"That's how you lost your friend, isn't it?" He asked, his features smoothing and his tone softening a bit. "He killed himself?"
"Yeah." Hinata whispered softly, the omega glancing away and reaching for his drink, holding the stem of the glass for a long moment before lifting it from the table, taking a sip and meeting Kageyama's eyes. "I keep thinking about it, what if I had been partners with Toru. I can't imagine what his partners must be going through right now, raising a baby without him." He took another sip, setting aside his drink and reclining back in his chair, tilting his face up towards the sunshine. He was quiet for a moment, considering what he wanted to say, then he refocused on Kageyama again, adding softly, "Toru killed himself the same day that his partner found out he was pregnant. Toru never knew he was going to be a dad. He never had a chance to meet his beautiful little girl."
Kageyama hummed softly, letting out a deep sigh and shaking his head, resting his lips against his folded fingers. "That's a shame. What a coincidence, that those two events would coincide. Life, and death. Who halves of the same coin. Different tunes playing on repeat, looped infinitely on the same damn carousel, and the world just keeps turning 'round and 'round with or without us. Makes you think, doesn't it?" He held Hinata's gaze, his dark irises glinting as he searched the omega's eyes. "What's the meaning of it all? Why are any of us even here?"
"We could die at any moment. Any of us." Hinata breathed, searching Kageyama's eyes. "I almost died, a few months ago. I was in a car wreck downtown." He glanced down slightly, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt, thinking about the day of his near-death experience, a shiver quivering up his spine. "I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, and I was thrown from the vehicle as our car rolled across the median and through several lanes of traffic." He closed his eyes, taking a breath, thinking before saying aloud, "While I was lying there on the concrete, bleeding and disoriented, a stranger came up to me and sat beside me. He knelt in my blood and watched over me, soothing me the best he possibly could while holding onto my hand." Hinata smiled fondly, his chest twisting with emotion as he spoke. "He calmed me down when I started to panic, and coaxed me into staying still while we waited for the ambulance to arrive."
He paused for a moment to take a breath, exhaling shakily and continuing softly.
"I later learned his actions prevented my injuries from becoming any worse than they already were. The doctors said I could have been permanently paralyzed, or worst case I could have twisted my neck the wrong way and died if he hadn't been there to comfort me." He bit his lip, shrugging lightly. "I didn't see his face, when I looked up at him I saw Toru instead, the friend that I lost. I genuinely believe that both that stranger's kindness and Toru's presence saved me that day."
He shook his head slowly, blinking back tears and meeting Kageyama's eyes.
"I don't know if there's a life after death, but what I do know is I was given a second chance, and I intend to make every single second count, no matter what." He pressed his hand over his chest, patting at his breastplate as he added, "My life may not mean something grand in the overall scheme of things, but my friends, my packmates, my partners, the people I care about, the people I love. They mean everything to me, and I mean everything to them." He shook his head slowly, tears dripping down his flushed cheeks as he offered Kageyama a heartfelt smile, laughing brightly and arching his brow as he whispered breathlessly, "And you tell me you're okay with living a life without that? It's a waste, Kageyama. It's such a terrible, terrible waste."
Kageyama was quiet, his eyes wide, barely breathing as he took in everything Hinata had said. He shook his head, blinking twice in slow succession, arching his brow and whispering hesitantly, "You were...you were lying in the street, just outside of that fancy restaurant downtown, the one with all the lights in the trees at night."
Hinata blinked, shaking his head in confusion, asking hesitantly, "What did you say?"
Kageyama nodded slowly, glancing to the side, trying to recall the details. "There was a wreck on the east-bound side of the highway, someone impatient jackass had rear-ended this lady's car while we were stuck in traffic." He shook his head slowly, searching Hinata's eyes. "Ryuu was driving, we saw the whole thing. We pulled over and got out to wait for the police to arrive, to give our statements once they were writing up the report. Yuu and Asahi were helping out the lady who had gotten rear-ended, there were two kids with her in the backseat." He gestured lightly as he spoke, his fingers tracing through the air. "They were all shook up of course, from being hit from behind like that, but luckily no one was hurt that badly. The driver that rear-ended her barely had a scratch."
He met Hinata's eyes, continuing steadily.
"Ryuu was busy arguing with the guy who'd hit her, and I was just standing back watching everything from the sidelines. It seemed surreal, being in the middle of all of it, and I wasn't really sure what to do to help out. The boys had it handled, so I just waited around for the cops and ambulance to show up."
He shook his head, his brow arching a bit.
"Not two minutes later, another car came around the corner and swerved out of the way. They jerked to the side to avoid ramming into the wreck so hard they crashed into the median, and rolled across the west-bound lanes all the way to the other side." He scoffed, shaking his head, his breath hitching and he whispered, "There was...there was this tiny body just lying in the middle of the road. I didn't even think, I just ran towards it. This kid was just...battered to pieces, tossed around like a rag-doll. He had this...this cut on his forehead, this superficial thing, but it was bleeding so much I couldn't make out his face. He kept trying to say something, so I just...I just sat with him, tried to calm him down, tried to keep him still…"
Hinata reached across the table, grabbing Kageyama's hand, his fingers trembling as he whispered, "Oh my god, that was you?" He laughed incredulously, reaching up with his other hand to cover his mouth as he gasped and let out a choked sob, "Kageyama, you're the one who sat beside me after our car crashed?"
Kageyama nodded slowly, searching Hinata's eyes as he carefully twisted his hand in Hinata's grasp, lacing their fingers, the omega ducking his head and crying softly, the beta watching over him with a tender expression, his heart twisting tightly in his chest.
"You saved me! You saved me!" Hinata sobbed, shifting from his seat and wrapping his arms around Kageyama's neck, hugging him tightly and sobbing against his shoulder, the beta tentatively wrapping his arms around Hinata's small frame. "I knew it! I knew there was a reason I was drawn to you! I knew it meant something that you were the one who sang Toru's song!"
He sniffed and hiccupped, pulling back and meeting Kageyama's eyes, laughing brightly and pressing his hand against his mouth, arching his brow and crying quietly.
"I knew that there was a reason why I saw Toru during the crash. I knew it couldn't just be a coincidence that Toru introduced me to your song, and then months later I somehow unexpectedly met you, the actual vocalist!" He clung to Kageyama's fingers tightly, shivering as he spoke. "I knew it was impossible without something inexplicable bringing us together. What are the chances that we would ever meet that day, that you would be there to help me during the crash, or that we would ever possibly meet again?"
Kageyama didn't have words, searching Hinata's eyes, reaching up and cupping his cheek. He held the omega's gaze for a long moment, then he let out a shivering breath and whispered, "I couldn't...I couldn't just watch. I had to do something. If there was a chance that I could help you, I wanted to. I wanted to so desperately." He arched his brow, ducking his head, a soft, shaky sob escaping him. "I'm so glad you're okay, I'm so glad that you recovered. I was so worried that you wouldn't make it. When they took you away on the ambulance, I thought that might have been it." He laughed and shook his head, pressing his forehead to Hinata's gently. "I'm so glad that you're alive."
Hinata laughed, a sweet, bubbly sound pitched higher with a hint of tears, the omega hugging Kageyama's neck tightly once more, a happy purr starting in his chest. Kageyama held him gently, gradually tightening his hold and closing his eyes, letting out a soft, trembling breath as tears streaked down his cheeks, allowing the little omega pressed against him to soothe him and comfort him, basking in Hinata's brilliant warmth.
They stayed like that for quite some time, until gradually Hinata pulled away, smiling and sniffing lightly while meeting Kageyama's dark eyes. He bit his lip, blushing lightly and holding the beta's gaze while letting out a series of happy laughter, squeezing Kageyama's fingers while he offered cheerily, "Come home with me? I want you to meet my partners!"

Kuroo perked his ears towards the betas nearby, his expression soft as he finished making himself a sandwich then grabbed a bag of chips from the counter before returning to the couch, settling down beside Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. The movie had been playing for a while now, and the felines were intrigued to say the least, Yamaguchi biting his lip and half-hiding behind his blanket while Tsukishima tensed and inhaled sharply now and then, his ears ducking back before pivoting forward once more. Kuroo chuckled softly, leaning down to kiss Tsukishima's shoulder before reclining back and taking his sandwich in hand, taking a large bite and grabbing a handful of chips, returning his attention to the movie as well.
It wasn't particularly scary, but it did have a suspenseful theme and several intense moments with a jump-scare thrown in here and there. He'd watched it already once with Bokuto and Akaashi, and he was eager to see how the betas would react as the movie continued steadily towards the climax at the end of the film. There was a rather intriguing twist ending, one he hadn't been expecting himself, though Tsukishima had an uncanny way of figuring out most plotlines before the final scene. From the blonde's expression, he hadn't quite figured out what was happening yet, and Kuroo waited patiently to see if the quiet beta would be thrown for a loop or not.
While Kuroo was eating, Yamaguchi huddled closer to his roommate, tensing slightly as the plot continued to escalate, his eyes wide and his ears perked towards the scene currently taking place. Tsukishima hummed quietly and leaned closer to nuzzle between his ears, his eyes flitting across the subtitles at the bottom of the screen, squeezing his companion's fingers tightly and waiting to see what would happen next.
At the final scene, Yamaguchi yipped and turned to hide his face against Tsukishima's chest, the blonde beta holding him tightly and inhaling a sharp draw of breath, exhaling slowly and nudging Yamaguchi lightly, nodding towards the screen, the freckled beta peeking through his fingers to watch the final moments between the characters draw to a dramatic close. Kuroo was grinning expectantly, shoving another chip in his mouth and chuckling when Tsukishima glanced up and caught his eyes, the Alpha quirking a brow and asking curiously, "So? Was it what you were expecting?"
"That was interesting." Tsukishima admitted with a quiet sigh, rubbing up and down Yamaguchi's back gently. "It was quite a twist. I have to say, it didn't end up going the direction I thought it would originally." He softened his gaze a bit, searching Kuroo's hazel eyes. "You win this round, I'll pick out the next movie." He looked down at Yamaguchi, signing to his roommate one-handed for a moment before the younger beta hummed and nodded, perking his ears up and untangling his limbs from his blanket before stretching and getting up from the couch. Tsukishima stretched out as well as soon as Yamaguchi moved, Kuroo crooning and setting aside his plate and chips before wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, Tsukishima sighing quietly and relaxing back against his chest, soft purrs escaping him as Kuroo kissed at his shoulder sweetly.
"Alright, you pick out the next movie. Whatever you like." He glanced up and met Yamaguchi's eyes, the beta smiling and giving him a little wink before gesturing towards his room, giving them both a little wave and padding away quietly, dipping into his bedroom and closing his door partially behind him. Kuroo perked his ears up curiously, asking after a moment, "Is Yama going to bed already?" Tsukishima hummed softly, turning around to face Kuroo fully while wrapping his arms around the Alpha's neck, searching his eyes. Kuroo smiled and chuckled softly, leaning a little closer as he whispered, "Ah, I see. You asked him to give us some privacy? Naughty little minx."
Tsukishima blushed faintly at that, pouting lightly and tilting his face up a bit, Kuroo dipping down and kissing him slowly. Tsukishima breathed against his lips, kissing him back gently, smoothing his palm along Kuroo's broad shoulders and up his nape to tangle his fingers in his dark hair, the Alpha wrapping his arms around the beta's slim waist and tugging him closer for more.
They'd been dating for months now, gradually becoming more intimate as Tsukishima opened up to Kuroo at his own pace. They'd done little more than kissing, but the emotional connection they shared was akin to the connection he shared with his bondmate, and the Alpha was more than willing to continue allowing the beta to take his time, accepting whatever intimacy Tsukishima willingly offered. More than anything, he wanted Tsukishima to want this. He adored the beta, and he considered him a partner just as intimately as he held Akaashi, Kozume, and Bokuto.
Tsukishima had never been like this with anyone before. Kuroo was his first everything. He was hesitant and unsure about many things regarding intimacy, but Kuroo was happy to indulge his fantasies and desires however small as they continued to explore together. Gradually, Tsukishima's shy nervousness was transforming into something intensely powerful, from trembling advances and tentative presses of mouth to openly showing his desire and asking Kuroo to give him what he wanted without hesitation, the Alpha happily giving Tsukishima whatever he desired each and every time.
Tonight it seemed Tsukishima wanted more than soft kisses and gentle touches. Tonight he wanted Kuroo to take him apart.
They parted for breath a few moments later, Tsukishima exhaling shakily and tugging Kuroo's hair gently, searching his eyes and blushing faintly as he whispered, "Will you take me to bed?"
The Alpha crooned and kissed him once more before shifting to rise from the couch, taking Tsukishima's hand and tugging him gently towards the blonde's room, adjacent to Yamaguchi's. They stepped inside and closed the door behind them, Kuroo pulling Tsukishima closer once more and reconnecting their lips as he coaxed the beta gently towards the bed.
They sat down together at the edge of the mattress, Kuroo pulling back and stripping his shirt off overhead, Tsukishima shivering lightly as the Alpha reached out for him and slowly tugged him into his lap. Tsukishima blushed faintly, smoothing his palms over Kuroo's warm skin, marveling at the Alpha's defined musculature, his broad pectorals, his chiseled abs, the dip of his Adonis belt. He bit his lip, blushing a bit brighter as the Alpha's purring sent little vibrations through his fingertips, the beta's breath hitching when he felt Kuroo's body start to respond, squirming slightly against the Alpha's lap.
Kuroo watched him quietly, tilting one of his ears to the side while watching the beta with a fond expression, allowing him to explore as he liked. He was quiet for a while before reaching up and cupping Tsukishima's cheek, tilting his face up just enough that Tsukishima could read his lips while whispering gently, "Do you want me to touch you, baby?"
The beta blushed a shade brighter at that, the blonde nodding and leaning closer to reconnect their lips again, Kuroo's purring deepening as he held Tsukishima's waist and changed their positions, pressing the beta down against the mattress while hovering over him, slowly starting to trail kisses down his neck. Tsukishima let out a soft sound of want, shivering and gasping softly when Kuroo's fangs brushed against his pulse, his grip tightening on the Alpha's biceps as Kuroo rocked down against him purposefully, Tsukishima's breath hitching as Kuroo started to grind his thigh between his legs, rubbing teasingly against the beta's half-hard cock.
The fire between them grew steadily, Kuroo's fingers tracing along the hem of Tsukishima's shirt before smoothing up his taut stomach and teasing along his ribcage slowly, pushing up his shirt until it was bunched above his clavicle, giving the Alpha access to what he wanted. He kissed down Tsukishima's chest, petting over his sides and hips gently as he descended, the beta shivering and gasping quietly as Kuroo nuzzled just above his navel, kissing his soft skin while glancing up to meet his eyes.
"Can I taste you?" Kuroo asked gently, holding Tsukishima's gaze, the beta blushing even darker than before. He hummed his consent, carding his fingers through Kuroo's hair while nodding, the Alpha crooning and nuzzling against his stomach before curling his fingers in Tsukishima's waistband, slowly pulling down the dark fabric of his sweats.
He shifted up slightly, helping Tsukishima out of his clothes before settling between his thighs once more, his breath hot as he nuzzled against Tsukishima's length, kissing up his shaft and mouthing at the tip, the beta whining softly and reaching up to hide his face with his hand, his glasses foggy and slightly askew. Kuroo smirked and lapped along the underside of the beta's cock, teasing him slowly, kneading at his warm, soft thighs and lifting one of his legs slightly, coaxing Tsukishima to rest his legs over his shoulders, the beta's breath hitching as he closed his eyes and arched his back, letting out a high-pitched moan as Kuroo wrapped his lips fully around his cock.
The Alpha exhaled a soft snort while bobbing his head slowly, his ears perked towards Tsukishima's breathless moans as the beta canted his hips up slightly, tightening his grip on Kuroo's hair, his legs tensing around either side of Kuroo's neck, effectively holding him in place. He moaned deeply around Tsukishima's cock, sucking him eagerly and taking him into the back of his throat, swallowing around him purposefully while undulating his tongue against the thick vein twitching along the underside, watching the beta's expressions as he continued greedily sucking his cock.
"Tetsurou~ Tetsurou! Ah, please~" Tsukishima gasped out softly, his tone hitching into something almost song-like as his vocalizations drifted between pleasured moans and breathy whines, the beta smearing fingerprints across his lenses as he pushed his glasses away from his face, hiding behind his trembling hand desperately. "Tetsu, I-" He jerked his head back, arching beautifully and canting up his hips, the Alpha sucking him rhythmically and lapping up the length of his weeping cock before taking him into his mouth again, bobbing his head slowly once more.
As Tsukishima whined and his legs started to tighten further around Kuroo's shoulders, the Alpha reached up with one hand and took Tsukishima's hand from his hair, lacing their fingers and squeezing gently, giving the beta something to anchor onto. Tsukishima continued moaning loudly while still hiding his face with his other hand, the beta yipping desperately and gasping while bucking into Kuroo's throat, the Alpha breathing shakily and swallowing around him as Tsukishima started to cum.
He swallowed dutifully around him over and over again until Tsukishima was completely spent, the beta gasping and tightening his hold on Kuroo's fingers while whining and reaching down to tangle his fingers in Kuroo's hair once again, finally revealing his flushed face, glistening tears caught in his long lashes and his cheeks a vibrant shade of crimson. "Oh Tetsurou! A-Ah!" He whined and bit his lip while watching the Alpha resting between his thighs, holding his gaze and whimpering desperately, "Please don't stop! Please!"
Kuroo snorted again softly, tightening his hold on Tsukishima's fingers and holding his eyes, bobbing his head quickly and listening to Tsukishima's voice rise as he quickly worked him up again. The beta was shivering with overstimulation, nodding quickly while praising the Alpha and begging for more, arching his back and choking on his breath as he gave himself completely to the sensation. He kept his back bowed, closing his eyes and pressing his head back against the mattress as he yipped and bucked his hips, fucking into the Alpha's hot throat and holding onto his hair with a painfully tight grip. He urged Kuroo on needily, biting his bottom lip so roughly between broken moans it was already swollen and red, a telltale sign it would surely start to bruise later, his whole body coiling tight as he ascended to climax once more.
Kuroo groaned and swallowed around him as Tsukishima came down his throat, sucking at the tip and lapping at his shaft for a few moments longer before Tsukishima gasped and tugged at his hair, drawing the Alpha away from his cock, the beta's chest heaving as he fought to catch his breath. Kuroo was panting unevenly as well, his face flushed ruby-red and his cock painfully hard where he rutted against the mattress, the beta coaxing him closer and framing his hips with his trembling thighs as the Alpha dipped down to give him a slow kiss. Tsukishima sighed contentedly, his body relaxed and sated, the beta moaning softly against Kuroo's tongue while the Alpha kissed him slow and deep, Tsukishima trailing his hand down Kuroo's chest and petting over his stomach, his other hand still clinging to Kuroo's tightly.
"Will you jerk yourself off for me?" Tsukishima whispered against his lips, Kuroo nodding and giving him another kiss before shifting to undress himself further. He took his time, shoving down his grey sweats and boxer-briefs slowly before returning to Tsukishima once more, giving him a few slow kisses and moaning softly while wrapping his fingers around his twitching cock. His knot was already half-formed, the beta's fingers trailing down his stomach while watching the Alpha's movements, Kuroo working his hand over his cockhead, down his rigid shaft and over the curve of his knot, the blonde biting his lip again and gliding his fingers along the precum beaded at his tapered tip. Kuroo shivered pleasantly at the beta's touch, groaning appreciatively and kissing at Tsukishima's chest lovingly, lapping over one of his perked nipples and starting to jerk himself quickly, panting softly against his boyfriend's chest and nuzzling against his breastplate gently.
Tsukishima continued playing with the tip of Kuroo's cock, coaxing out more of the Alpha's thick precum and watching him with a heated blush, his own cock starting to fill once more as he took in his boyfriend's scent and the desperate noises he made, gasping softly at the sensation of Kuroo's teeth and tongue teasing over his chest as he worked himself closer to the edge.
"Together." Tsukishima coaxed eagerly, Kuroo glancing up and meeting his eyes, nodding and shifting up the beta's frame, resting on his side and reaching for Tsukishima's cock. He kissed Tsukishima slowly while the blonde wrapped his fingers around Kuroo's twitching shaft, starting to stroke the Alpha quickly while Kuroo began jerking the beta's hardening cock, moaning into his mouth and lapping at his tongue, panting harshly as they shared breath.
They jerked one another off quickly, Kuroo easily spilling over Tsukishima's hand as the beta locked his fingers tightly around his thick knot, the Alpha growling and nipping at his lips and jaw before moaning against his ear deeply, "I love you, Kei. I love you so fucking much."
Tsukishima whined loudly as he climaxed a third time, spilling over Kuroo's hand while the Alpha continued to jerk him through his orgasm, the blonde whimpering and whining while bucking his hips, Kuroo kissing him eagerly and rocking his hips against Tsukishima's hand, reveling in the sensation of the beta's fingers locked around his knot. He continued jerking Tsukishima's cock, coaxing the beta towards another orgasm, Tsukishima crying out sharply and cumming violently against his stomach and chest a few moments later, adding to the mess already smeared between them, Kuroo still cumming as Tsukishima squeezed his swollen knot.
It took some time before their movements stilled, Tsukishima shivering and hiding his face against Kuroo's neck, completely spent, his entire body limp as he basked in the Alpha's warmth. Kuroo crooned gently while petting over Tsukishima's back, whispering soft praises and reassurances against his ear, kissing his shoulder and neck slowly while listening to the beta's breathing deepen as he drifted off to sleep.
Kuroo chuckled softly, closing his eyes and inhaling Tsukishima's scent, holding him close while reaching down to wrap his fingers around his cock once more, slowly starting to stroke. It didn't take him long to work himself back up again, precum dripping down his shaft and smearing against Tsukishima's upper thigh as he breathed deeply against the blonde's soft hair, moaning and bucking into his hand while purring and holding his boyfriend close, eventually cumming across the beta's warm skin, his fingers locked firmly around his knot.
"I love you baby." Kuroo whispered, rubbing along the underside of his swollen knot as he canted his hips forward in little jerks, cum streaking against the beta's stomach, hips, and thighs. "I love you so much, Kei. You mean so much to me. You make me so happy, sweetheart."
He dipped down and kissed the beta slowly, Tsukishima humming softly and kissing him back in his sleep, Kuroo pulling back and nuzzling into his neck while still clenching rhythmically around his knot, lapping over the beta's throat and pressing his fangs against his slow, steady pulse. He lingered there for a while, feeling the familiar ache of the urge to mark the boy he loved, his fangs throbbing as his instincts coaxed him into claiming what was already his, the Alpha breathing shakily against his neck, holding himself back.
He nipped at Tsukishima's neck and shoulder gently, lapping over his throat once more before sighing and releasing his knot, stroking his cock slowly. Gradually he drew his fingers away from his deflating knot and softening cock, reaching over to smear the warm cum he'd streaked across Tsukishima's skin, rubbing it into his boyfriend's skin purposefully while kneading against the beta's thighs and hips, kissing his lips slowly once more while methodically marking the beta with his cum and heady scent. Tsukishima rested against him peacefully, his body lax and his breathing slow and deep, his glasses resting atop the mattress nearby, the Alpha carefully folding them and setting them on the headboard before curling around the sleeping beta, closing his eyes and exhaling a slow breath.
He wanted to mark Tsukishima. He had wanted to for months now, his instincts calling out to him, driving him to mark his boyfriend. He'd wanted to mark each of his partners, wanted to claim them for himself to show the world they belonged to him. For some reason, with Tsukishima, the desire to mark the quiet beta was almost overwhelming. He wanted to mark Kozume too, they'd discussed the possibility, but the petite beta wasn't ready for that yet, and Kuroo had resigned himself to wait. He understood with Kozume's current circumstances he was focused on bonding with Hinata and Bokuto right now, and had little room to focus on much else. With Tsukishima on the other hand, the blonde held no other partners, his only sexual experiences those he had shared with Kuroo, and his only romantic experiences those he'd shared with Kuroo and Yamaguchi, platonically. It sparked something within Kuroo, it drove his instincts wild, knowing he was Tsukishima's first everything, knowing that every single sensation and emotion Tsukishima felt when he was with Kuroo was the beta's first time feeling such a thing.
He wanted Tsukishima to adore him, and desire him above anyone else. He wanted Tsukishima to fall in love with him just as deeply as Kuroo had already fallen. He wanted to take Tsukishima's virginity. He wanted the beta to beg him desperately for his knot, he wanted to be locked inside of him while giving him pleasure beyond anything Tsukishima had ever imagined before, and more than anything he wanted Tsukishima to ask his Alpha to claim him, and give him his mark.
He'd spoken with Akaashi about it many times, his desire to mark both Kozume and Tsukishima. His bondmate had agreed wholeheartedly, he wanted Kuroo to give himself completely to his partners and experience whatever happiness he possibly could with them. The bond he shared with Akaashi was unshakable, and the omega understood completely Kuroo's desire to mark his other partners. As they grew closer, there were definitely times when Akaashi yearned for Bokuto's mark, too.
Tsukishima shifted lightly in his sleep, humming and curling his fingers against Kuroo's chest while nuzzling into his neck, the Alpha smiling and kissing his forehead before crooning and petting over his boyfriend's side, Tsukishima purring softly and going still once more. Kuroo listened to his vocalizations, his soft purring and hitches of breath, the sound gradually lulling him to sleep, his arms wrapped protectively around his boyfriend as he dreamed.
Perhaps one day soon Tsukishima would trust him enough to want Kuroo to mark him too.

Bokuto's eyes widened as he listened to Hinata's words, glancing towards the quiet beta at his side, perking his ears towards Kageyama and arching his brow as his breath hitched. "You were the stranger that sat with Shouyou? That's...that's amazing. I can't believe you two found one another again. Holy shit." He shook his head, both in surprise and disbelief, one of his ears twitching lightly as he replayed the information over and over in his mind, allowing his boyfriend's words to sink in. "It's...it's unthinkable that you'd somehow manage to find one another again. That's absolute insane odds, nearly impossible!"
Atsumu nodded his agreement, exhaling slowly and reclining back against the arm of the couch again, perking his ears towards his twin while Osamu smiled in amazement, meeting Kageyama's eyes. "You have no idea how much it means to me, to all of us, being able to meet you like this." He stood from the couch, walking the short distance to reach Hinata and Kageyama, reaching out and wrapping the dark-headed beta in a gentle embrace. "Thank you, Kageyama. Thank you so much for watching over Shouyou."
Atsumu stood as well, walking past Bokuto and reaching out for Kageyama, the beta inhaling softly and ducking back his ears, clearly overwhelmed, the tawny Alpha purring happily and wrapping his arms around both Kageyama and his brother, Osamu already starting to purr as well. Bokuto watched the twins with Kageyama for a moment longer before reaching for Hinata's hand, the omega tilting up his face and smiling up at his boyfriend cheerily, Bokuto exhaling slowly and smiling as well, perking up his ears and leaning down to give Hinata a kiss. The small omega purred softly and wrapped his arms around Bokuto's neck, perking his ears towards Kageyama's voice as the beta laughed awkwardly and dismissed Atsumu and Osamu's gracious praises, Hinata reaching out for Kageyama's hand and squeezing his fingers, the beta glancing over and meeting his eyes.
"You're welcome here, Kageyama." Hinata said gently, trying to reassure him. "You're welcome to stay here, or spend time with us, whenever you'd like." He shifted between the twins, reaching out and wrapping his arms around Kageyama's waist while resting his cheek against the beta's chest, Kageyama hesitating only for a moment before wrapping his arms around Hinata's shoulders lightly, Bokuto watching over them with a soft smile. "If it weren't for you, everything could have happened so differently. You changed my life that day, Kageyama. You gave me a chance to live again. I'll never be able to repay you for your kindness."
"You don't have to do that, Hinata." Kageyama said softly, his ears still ducked back, the beta glancing between the twins watching him before looking up at Bokuto, an indiscernible expression across the Alpha's face as he tried to understand Kageyama's unsure tone and the tension he was holding in his shoulders as he embraced Hinata lightly. "Really, it's...it's nice of you to bring me here, to introduce me to your partners, I just…" Hinata looked up at him, perking his ears up and searching the beta's eyes, Kageyama's words fading as he swallowed thickly, the beta glancing away and breaking eye contact after taking a deep breath. "I don't deserve all of this. It was a random act of kindness. I didn't do anything special. I just...I just sat there. The paramedics and doctors are really the reason everything turned out alright."
Hinata frowned a little, ducking back his ears slightly before perking them once more. "If something had happened where you had been in a wreck instead, and I had sat with you in the middle of the road and held your hand and helped you stay calm while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, don't you think you would feel the same way too?" He squeezed Kageyama's fingers, tilting his head slightly while saying gently, "It's okay to relax around us, Kageyama. You're safe here. You're safe with me." He smoothed his palm over Kageyama's chest, searching his eyes. "You're so tense, I'm sorry if this overwhelmed you. I just wanted everyone to meet you. You're an amazing, selfless person. You deserve to feel good about what you did for me. You may not think so, but you did so much for me that day. I would have been afraid and alone without you."
Kageyama's expression broke at Hinata's soft words, the beta nodding hesitantly and reaching up to cover his eyes with his hand, a soft sob escaping him as Osamu and Atsumu drew closer once more, hugging Kageyama and Hinata between them, the beta's breath hitching quietly as he tightened his hold on Hinata and cried. Bokuto dipped back his ears a bit, wondering why the beta was so upset, wondering what else Hinata and Kageyama had spoken about while they had been out for brunch. He stood back and watched over them with a quiet sigh, emotions twisting in his chest.
This quiet, withdrawn beta that Hinata had brought home to them seemed to be hurting, recovering from some sort of emotional wounds that Bokuto couldn't even begin to imagine. If Bokuto knew anything, he knew this: Hinata would do everything within his power to help Kageyama through whatever it was he was dealing with, and if he was picking up on things correctly he could already sense that Kageyama was going to become someone very meaningful to Hinata as their friendship progressed.
Bokuto couldn't wait to see Hinata coax Kageyama out of his shell, and see how much the beta changed as Hinata worked his way into Kageyama's heart.
