Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics

Ch 24: Anew

They napped together for a few hours before eventually stirring, deciding on ordering pizza and watching a movie together while still coming down from their respective highs. The afternoon faded to evening, and Hinata found himself torn between spending more time with his new friends, or returning home to his partners. They had a big day ahead of them tomorrow. He would need to settle down and get some sleep before the festivities started.

Hinata texted Kozume near the end of the movie to arrange for a ride home, Kageyama peeking down at his phone over Hinata's shoulder before glancing away. His eyes drifted from Azumane and Nishinoya on the opposite side of the couch to Tanaka, who was still dozing in the oversized bean bag chair nearby, a slice of half-eaten pizza resting beside him. He let out a soft, amused snort, peering down at Hinata once more as the omega set his phone aside and curled up with him again, finding Kageyama's hand beneath the blanket shared between them, squeezing the beta's fingers lightly.

"I had a really good time today." Hinata said softly, and Kageyama made a quiet sound of affirmation, squeezing back his fingers and leaning down to press his nose to Hinata's bright, messy hair, still tousled from their earlier nap.

"Me too." Kageyama murmured gently, Hinata smiling and looking over his shoulder to catch Kageyama's eyes, letting out a happy, contented sigh.

"After my idyll, once I'm back in the city," Hinata asked quietly, "Would it be alright if we spent time together like this again?"

Kageyama nodded, offering Hinata an impish little grin. "I'd like that."

Hinata's breath hitched and he let out a soft peal of bubbly laughter, nodding and nuzzling under Kageyama's jaw before returning his attention to the movie, his hold on Kageyama's fingers growing tight.

He didn't want to lose this, whatever it was they were building between them. Once he returned from his week-long idyll at the beach with his new bondmates, he was eager to explore the possibility of a relationship with Kageyama as well. This feeling, this warm, gentle flame they shared between them, it felt like something more than friendship. It felt as if it could one day grow into a deep, fathomless love. With patience, understanding, and utmost care.

Hinata didn't want to rush things. He wanted to see how things progressed naturally between them, but from the way Kageyama kept looking at him, and touching him, and smiling at him so sweetly, he could only assume that Kageyama felt whatever this was too.

Hinata cast his gaze towards his phone, tracing his fingertips along the curve of it, a light blush staining his cheeks.

He wondered what his partners would think of it, if he expressed his interest in sharing romance and intimacy with Kageyama. He also wondered what it might be like for Kageyama, for the standoffish, reclusive beta to enter into Hinata's world. He had a whole pack of friends and loved ones to welcome Kageyama with open arms, should Kageyama eventually allow Hinata to bring him into their fold. He tried to imagine it, Kageyama being friends with his partners, his packmates.

He found, with a giddy sense of relief, that such a possibility wasn't hard to imagine at all. If anything, it caused his yearning for closeness and companionship with Kageyama to flourish and grow.

His phone buzzed beneath his fingertips, and he turned over the small device to read the message he'd just received. He smiled to himself while sighing sleepily, stretching out a bit before pressing closer to Kageyama's side, resting his cheek against the beta's shoulder. "Kenma's on his way. He'll be here in twenty minutes or so to pick me up."

Kageyama hummed softly, rubbing along Hinata's back while breathing in against his hair slow and deep, memorizing the sensation of the omega resting in his arms. His scent, his presence, his warmth. He didn't know what to say, what it was that he was feeling exactly. He wanted Hinata to stay with him a little longer. He wasn't quite ready to let the omega go.

"Kageyama?" Hinata asked, his voice slightly muffled against the beta's shirt. "Tomorrow, during the after party, would it be alright if I asked you to dance with me?"

Kageyama's heart skipped a beat, and he forgot how to breathe for a moment before letting out a shaky exhale. Hinata pulled back slightly, his nose and cheeks tinted with pink as he searched Kageyama's eyes, biting at his bottom lip absently.

"Are you…" He took a moment to think about what he was trying to express, what it was he wanted to say. "...are you sure?" Kageyama asked, his brow arching with concern. "Surely your partners would rather dance with you? I don't want to intrude-"

"I want to dance with you too." Hinata interrupted gently, holding Kageyama's eyes. "I want you to be a part of this with me. Not just because you're playing for us, but because you're my friend." He paused for a moment, his brow pinching a bit as he forced out in an embarrassed whisper, "We're...we're friends now, aren't we?"

Kageyama hesitated, but nodded. "Yeah, yeah we're friends."

Hinata laughed a bit at that, his expression smoothing into giddy relief, squeezing Kageyama's fingers and giving him a warm, tender smile. "Then dance with me at my ceremony. I want to share that with you, even if it's only for a moment. Even if it's only for just one song."

Kageyama watched Hinata for a long moment before nodding, his chest twisting and his heart fluttering against his ribcage wildly. "Yeah. Yeah, okay. I'll dance with you. If you're sure that's what you want."

"It is." Hinata grinned, nodding and laughing brightly, all traces of uncertainty and embarrassment now absent in the wake of Kageyama's reassurances. He'd needed to hear that his feelings of companionship towards the beta were indeed reciprocated, and that Kageyama now considered them to be friends too. He returned to resting against Kageyama's shoulder, teasing his fingers along the beta's longer digits for a few quiet moments before adding softly, "I'll miss you, while I'm gone."

Kageyama's brow pinched, and his expression softened. Hinata wore his heart on his sleeve in every waking moment. He was the most genuine, gentle person Kageyama had ever known.

"I'll be here when you get back."

"I know." Hinata smiled, closing his eyes and relaxing against Kageyama once more.

Kageyama was quiet for a moment, basking in Hinata's warmth and the comfortable silence shared between them, before he nosed against Hinata's ear, adding in little more than a whisper, "I'll miss you too."

Kozume knelt down beside Hinata with a sigh, relaxing against the lip of the bathtub and reaching out to card his fingers through the omega's hair gently. Hinata was humming to himself quietly, dragging the plush loofah in his grasp back and forth over his upper arms slowly, enjoying the sensation of soaking in the warm water, iridescent bubbles clinging to his skin. He lathered the loofah over his chest and neck before reclining back against the curve of the tub, sighing pleasantly and looking over to catch Kozume's eyes, giving him an affectionate smile.

"Thank you for coming to get me." He glanced over Kozume's shoulder towards the partially open door, listening to the sounds of soft snoring echoing minutely from down the hall. "You said Kou passed out as soon as he got home? Did he mention anything about his finals?"

"They'll likely start posting the results online a bit later tonight." Kozume replied gently, his fingers trailing along the surface of the bubbly water. "We should know by the morning."

Hinata nodded his understanding with a little smile, his movements stilling as he simply basked in the warm water, steam curling languidly from the surface of the tub. "I haven't heard anything back from Osamu yet either. He's driving back tonight, so he can be here in the morning to help with preparations for the ceremony." Hinata bit his lip, blushing lightly, reaching over and taking Kozume's hand while searching his eyes. "It's real. It's happening. I still can't believe it's happening."

"I know." Kozume laughed quietly, the sound ringing off the bathroom walls for only a moment before fading once more into silence. He shifted forward, leaning over the lip of the tub and kissing Hinata slowly, the omega humming and tugging him a bit closer, kissing him back with a hint of desire in his touch.

"I love you." Hinata purred, soapy water dripping down the side of the tub between them. "I love you with all of my heart. With everything inside of me."

"I love you too, Shouyou." Kozume whispered, nuzzling the omega's nose for a moment before pressing their lips together again, kissing him slow and sweet, their movements growing more heated as Hinata pressed a bit closer, haphazardly splashing water outside of the tub.

They giggled together quietly, Kozume waiting for Hinata to finish his bath before carefully helping him out of the tub. They took a few moments to share soft kisses in the lingering steam before parting, laying down a plush towel across the bathroom floor to soak up the bathwater that had been spilt, gradually making their way down the hall to Hinata's bedroom and closing the door behind them.

Hinata crawled into bed first, settling down beside Bokuto beneath the messy blankets, the Alpha stirring and blinking down at him as the omega kissed at his strong jaw. He chuckled softly, nuzzling Hinata affectionately for a few moments before yawning loudly and closing his eyes again, quickly falling back asleep. Kozume stripped out of his damp clothing and joined them in bed a moment later, curling up behind Hinata and spooning him as Kageyama had earlier that same day. Hinata's stomach twisted with butterflies, the sensation of it something between desire and yearning, blushing lightly at the thought of the tall, dark beta curled up behind him naked in bed as they settled down to sleep.

He bit his lip, squirming lightly, exhaling a soft huff and rolling over in Kozume's arms, the beta watching him with a soft smile as Hinata cuddled up against his chest, hiding his face against Kozume's neck. "Shouyou? What is it?"

Hinata was quiet for a long moment before he pulled back enough to meet Kozume's eyes, his cheeks tinged with pink. "I…" He searched his boyfriend's eyes hesitantly, his breath hitching slightly before he took a deep breath and managed to force out, "I think I like Kageyama."

Kozume watched him with a calm, even expression, a little smile teasing at the corners of his lips. "I thought as much. As more than just a friend, right?"

"Right." Hinata murmured, his ears pivoting slightly as he glanced to the side, his cheeks steadily growing a brighter shade of pink. "You don't think it's…" He looked up again, searching Kozume's eyes. "It's not stupid of me? To consider pursuing something more with him?"

Kozume watched Hinata thoughtfully for a moment before asking quietly for clarification. "You mean, because you haven't known him for very long?"

Hinata nodded slowly, "That, and I already have you, and Kou, and the twins…" He bit his bottom lip, adding hesitantly, "...and Keiji, and potentially Tetsurou…"

Kozume exhaled an amused snort through his nose, rubbing along Hinata's side gently. "Are you really concerned with having too many partners? Who do you imagine will judge you or disapprove of such a thing?" He arched his brow a little, watching Hinata's expressions carefully. "All of us, each of your partners, know your heart exceptionally well. You treat each of us equally, you give all of yourself in every relationship you hold. You love us without hesitation, in full capacity. You give us everything, Shouyou. Everything we could ever want for or ask of you. You're a caring, beautiful, selfless soul."

"It's not greedy?" Hinata whispered, his brow pinching with concern. "It's not wrong to...to want more?"

"No, baby. Don't ever think that." Kozume watched Hinata with a calm, patient expression, smoothing his hand along the curve of the omega's side. "Don't ever tell yourself that. Don't ever doubt the validity of your genuine feelings." He leaned a little closer, pressing their foreheads together gently. "How could loving another person ever be wrong? How could anyone possibly try to limit something like that? Why would you even want to?"

He kissed Hinata's nose and cheeks, purring softly, trying to reassure his beloved in any way he could.

"If you care for Kageyama, and the two of you decide to explore your feelings for one another, we will happily give you both an opportunity to do so." Kozume smiled as he spoke, tracing his fingertips along the curve of Hinata's flushed cheek. "If nothing romantic comes from it, then hopefully at the very least the two of you can become close friends." He arched his brow a bit, adding tenderly, "I know how much it meant to you when you learned he was the one who helped you during the crash that day. I couldn't imagine now, knowing what you know, that the two of you would simply return to your lives as strangers." He nodded to himself lightly, leaning in to gift Hinata another small kiss. "It only makes sense that the two of you share your lives in some way. You were drawn together by fate."

Hinata listened to Kozume, barely breathing as the beta spoke in earnest all those things Hinata might have been too uncertain to say. He felt that within him, that Kageyama's presence in his life was some sort of twisted fate. Losing Oikawa, and finding Kageyama. They were two halves of the same coin.

The fact that Kozume understood, that the beta knew him so well, it had Hinata's heart clenching tightly in his chest. He was filled to the brim with adoration and relief, the omega pressing his face against his boyfriend's shoulder with the faintest hint of a soft sob.

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

Kozume crooned softly, holding Hinata against his chest as the omega tried to even his breaths, crying softly against his neck and shoulder, letting all of his lingering anxieties go. He didn't have to be afraid of this, he didn't have to be concerned of what his partners might think of his growing connection with Kageyama. All he had to do from this moment forward was trust his instincts, and allow his feelings for Kageyama to manifest in whatever way they naturally occurred.

Tomorrow at the ceremony, after dedicating his life to his bondmates, he would take that first step towards truly allowing Kageyama into his heart, and claiming a place within Kageyama's heart as his own.

Atsumu perked his ears towards his brother, Osamu yawning quietly and pouring himself another cup of coffee, rubbing at his eyes while padding slowly towards the kitchen table, Atsumu chuckling and trailing behind him.

"You could sleep in a bit more." Atsumu chided affectionately. "Sho won't be awake for at least another hour."

"If I go back to sleep now I won't wake up again." Osamu sighed, sipping at the steaming brew while blinking slowly down at his phone resting atop the table. "At least, not in time for our breakfast reservations." He flicked through the upcoming events calendar on his phone, asking curiously, "When did you say the photographer was arriving?"

"She's meeting us at the café for breakfast." Atsumu grinned, perking his ears up while glancing towards the bedroom door nearby, listening to the sounds of snoring from within. "We booked her for the entire day, so she'll be following us around for the entirety of the event."

"Expensive." Osamu murmured, shaking his head slowly. "How did we even manage to budget for that? For all of this?" His thoughts drifted through the different aspects of the bonding ceremony; the photographer, the live band, the bartender and catering team, the various floral arrangements. "It's a pretty elaborate venue isn't it?"

Atsumu hummed quietly, quirking a brow before replying in a hushed tone, "You remember Kenma is loaded, right? He dipped into his inheritance money. That's how they were able to afford arranging for the ceremony, and their idyll at the beach the following week!"

Osamu made a soft sound of understanding, "Ah, that's right. Sometimes I forget. He lives so simply, just like the rest of us." He arched his brow a little, taking another sip of his coffee. "It's odd to think of him as one of the elite."

Atsumu hummed his agreement, sipping at his coffee as well while reaching for his phone, checking his messages and grinning impishly before getting to his feet. "Alright. Quick shower for me before they wake up and use all the hot water." He set his mug aside, leaning down to kiss his brother's cheek while murmuring against his ear, "Come join me? I'll be sure to help wake you up."

Osamu smiled against the lip of his mug, replying back teasingly, "Don't tempt me Atsu, or we'll be the ones using up all the hot water."

The tawny Alpha chuckled and swatted at his twin's shoulder playfully before stepping away, Osamu listening to his footsteps disappear back into their bedroom before refocusing on the event calendar again. "Breakfast at the café first, then final touches at the dress shoppe before heading to the park for a photoshoot, and then off to the hanging garden to start coordinating with the event crew…" Osamu sighed to himself, smiling and taking another sip of his coffee, thinking of the day he was about to spend with his friends, his packmates and partners. He was so happy to be home with them, so grateful that classes were finally over, and that he would never have to leave their sides ever again.

He'd graduated with top marks, his degree secured and his future bright. He was a professional architect and designer now, with contracts already on the menu for him to choose from whenever he decided to delve into his new career head-first. For now, he would take some time to simply relax and enjoy his family. His loved ones. He'd been away from home for too long, and now that everything was neatly settled he could finally sit back and enjoy the small, simple things in life again.

He could hardly believe Hinata was bonding with Bokuto and Kozume in the next few hours. It seemed surreal, like a conversation that had been happening all around him while he'd been distracted studying and passing finals, and now that he was back with them in the moment it almost felt rushed. His mind and heart were still trying to catch up, though he was genuinely ecstatic.

Osamu was happier for them than words could express. He had always wished for Hinata's well-being and happiness above all else, and he loved and trusted Bokuto and Kozume as if they were his partners as well. He had never been more thankful to have such amazing packmates. Now, with their threeway bond tying them together even tighter than before, Osamu was eager to see how their pack dynamics would continue to strengthen and grow. They had a lifetime of companionship ahead of them. They had plenty of time to build a new home, big enough for all of them to enjoy together.

It was one of Osamu's dreams, to one day create a home for all of them to live in together, a safe place he had lovingly crafted with his own two hands. He was certain he would be able to successfully do so, especially with Atsumu and Bokuto beside him, not to mention with help from all the other packmates surrounding them. It was the next big project he wanted to begin working on now that he was through with college. Perhaps by the time the trio returned from their idyll he would be able to show them some rough sketches of the plans he was already working on. He had many, many ideas. Narrowing them down into the perfect blueprint would be something for all of them to do together, as a pack.

He smiled to himself, thinking of the property he had in mind, the beautiful plot of land in the countryside he had already set aside a contract for. He was lucky to have found it before anyone else had managed to snatch it up, and with the reminder his brother had just given him he made a mental note to discuss the specifics with Kozume later, perhaps after the height of the ceremony once the after party had started.

His only concern with the property thus far was officially making the substantial down-payment to secure and finalize the building contract. He had been saving up for it for quite some time now, but with Kozume's help he might finally be able to officially own the land and start building a foundation for their dream house as soon as possible. It was finally within his grasp. It made him feel absolutely giddy with thoughts of the future, the lifetimes of happiness that were bound to come, both now and for future generations. What they would build together would become their family home. Their children's home, and one day their grandchildren's.

He closed his eyes, relaxing back into his chair, his fingertips trailing along the curve of his steaming mug.

How had he become so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing, precious loved ones? There were days it felt like an elaborate dream. This amazing, beautiful day was bound to be one of them.

He perked his ears towards the sound of quiet footsteps, Osamu glancing towards Bokuto as he made his way over to the kitchen table, his laptop in hand. He exhaled nervously, still half-asleep, setting the laptop down before him and waiting restlessly for the computer to boot, Osamu watching him with a knowing smile.

"Checking to see if your test results are posted?"

Bokuto hummed a quiet affirmation, his tone deep and gravelly with sleep. "I set an alarm but I must have snoozed it. I wanted to know as soon as possible, so I could focus on today instead."

Osamu hummed quietly in response, getting up from the table and padding into the kitchen, fetching another mug and pouring Bokuto a cup of coffee before stepping over to the other Alpha's side. Bokuto glanced up at him with a little smile, muttering a soft thanks and typing for a moment before reaching for the mug, lifting it gingerly and sipping while he waited for the website to load.

Osamu watched him with a little smile, one of his ears tilting towards the sound of the shower muffled through the bedroom door before refocusing on Bokuto once more. He was sipping at his coffee, his eyes gleaming with reflections of numbers as he scrolled and read his final results.

He was quiet for a long moment, then set his cup aside, exhaling a heavy sigh.

Osamu waited patiently, arching his brow with mild concern, until finally Bokuto looked up from his laptop and gave the other Alpha a tired smile.

"I passed. One of them, just barely, but I passed them all."

Osamu smiled warmly, nodding and toasting his coffee against the air. "Congratulations, Bo. That's exciting to hear."

"I'm so relieved." Bokuto sighed, blinking back the tears gleaming in the corners of his eyes, sniffing lightly before reaching for his coffee again. "I've been so stressed out, trying to balance everything that's been happening. The car wreck, physical therapy, my relationships with Tetsurou and Keiji, forging a pack with everyone…" He laughed to himself, smiling while carding his fingers through his hair. "I feel like this massive weight has suddenly been lifted from my shoulders. I can't believe it. I'm finally done with college. I'll never have to attend a class or return to campus ever again."

"It's an amazing feeling, isn't it?" Osamu crooned softly, his expressions affectionate and calm. "Now you can focus on your lifebond with Shouyou and Kenma. Your week-long getaway at the beach will be an excellent reward for all your hard work!"

Bokuto grinned broadly at that, his fangs glinting in the kitchen lights as he chuckled heartily, Osamu chuckling alongside him. Atsumu joined them a few moments later, still toweling at his damp hair, greeting Bokuto and congratulating him on passing his finals, pouring himself another cup of coffee before settling down beside them.

It wasn't long until Kozume made an appearance as well, blinking tiredly while shuffling around the kitchen, setting the kettle on the stovetop and waiting patiently for the water to boil before preparing himself a fresh cup of tea. He steeped his teabag for a short while before adding a bit of honey to the brew, standing beside the kitchen counter while stirring the contents of his teacup, yawning now and then quietly.

He stood by himself in the kitchen as he sipped at his tea and slowly woke up, eventually perking his ears towards the trio of Alphas sitting around the kitchen table, an affectionate little smile teasing across his lips.

"Shouyou has something to tell you once he's awake." Kozume murmured quietly, his eyes on Bokuto before gradually trailing towards the twins. "All of you."

The twins exchanged a glance, Bokuto perking his ears up curiously, asking after a moment's hesitation, "Is everything alright?"

"I think so." Kozume said with a soft sigh, his tone bright and warm, a reassuring smile across his lips. "It's what he's wanted for some time now, and I know it will make him happy." He sipped at his tea for a moment before adding quietly, "I'm trying my best to be supportive of his decision. I hope all of you will be too."

Osamu made a soft sound of understanding, picking up on Kozume's meaning, Atsumu watching his brother with a confused little frown. Osamu didn't say anything, he simply reached over and patted his brother's arm, nodding and giving him a happy smile. Bokuto watched Kozume with a similar little frown, the beta taking a few steps closer and leaning in to press a kiss to the Alpha's brow, a soft purr starting within his chest.

"It's a good thing." Kozume said in a hushed tone, Bokuto slowly searching his eyes. "Trust me."

"I trust you." Bokuto replied softly, wrapping an arm around Kozume's waist, hugging the beta lightly. Kozume lingered at his side long enough to finish his tea before excusing himself to go take a quick shower, Bokuto hesitating only for a moment before standing from the table and padding towards Hinata's bedroom door.

He pushed the door open slightly, peering in on the omega sleeping soundly in the middle of the blanket pile, taking a few steps closer and watching him sleep. He hovered for a while before pressing a knee against the mattress and leaning over his intended, Hinata making a soft sound in his sleep and rolling over, Bokuto's eyes catching a hint of the bandage wrapped around Hinata's upper arm for the first time.

He'd returned home after Bokuto had already been asleep, and the Alpha hadn't noticed it during the night while they were cuddling in the dark. His breath hitched lightly, and he arched his brow, leaning down and nosing into Hinata's hair, breathing in his warm, sweet scent. The omega finally stirred at that, yawning and stretching out while reaching up and wrapping his arms around Bokuto's shoulders lightly, tugging him down into the blankets once more.

"Morning baby…" Hinata murmured sleepily, Bokuto smiling and kissing at his temple and forehead, the omega wrinkling his nose and blinking his eyes open slowly while complaining in a teasing whine, "Mmh...coffee breath…"

Bokuto chuckled softly, "Yeah, sorry. I'll start getting ready once Kenma's finished with his shower." He pulled back ever so slightly, trailing his thumb over the bandages encircling Hinata's upper arm, pausing for a moment before asking quietly, "Did you and Kenma visit Keiji's clinic yesterday?"

Hinata inhaled softly at that, perking his ears and smiling up at Bokuto, a blush starting to creep across his cheeks. "Yeah! Yeah, I wanted to...to wait, and tell you in person. I didn't want to distract you during your finals." He bit at his bottom lip, searching the Alpha's tawny eyes. "They managed to squeeze me in at the last second. Isn't it perfect? Now we can share our idyll together, and maybe…" His voice trailed off for a moment, his brow arching a bit as he whispered breathlessly, "Maybe while we're together in paradise, all three of us, we can start trying for pups?"

Bokuto was watching him with the sweetest, most tender expression Hinata had ever seen, the Alpha crooning softly and kissing at his fingertips while Hinata reached up to pet along his strong jaw. "I would love that, Shouyou. I would love to start trying to have pups with you."

Hinata laughed brightly, his cheeks rosy and happy tears gathering in his lashes. "Yeah? Really?"

"Really." Bokuto chuckled, kissing at his nose and cheeks, Hinata laughing happily while trying to shove him off, still complaining about the Alpha's less than pleasant morning breath. Bokuto grinned impishly, tickling along the omega's sides teasingly in reply, Hinata squealing out protests while kicking and giggling excitedly. He rolled over quickly, trying to escape by crawling out of bed, Bokuto growling playfully and quickly chasing after him as he ran out into the living room, the twins watching over their antics fondly.

The rest of the morning passed in a blur.

After showering and changing into comfy casual wear, they all piled into Osamu's car together to head to the café. They met up with their photographer once they arrived, the chique, modelesque beta that would be joining them throughout the events of the day.

Hinata had never met her in person before, but he had heard of her often in passing. Her name was Alisa, and Kozume had requested her specifically to photograph their ceremony and subsequent afterparty. She was Haiba's older sister, as well as Yaku and Kozume's longtime friend, and she was an accomplished model and photographer.

Hinata warmed up to her easily. The tall, soft-spoken beta was graceful and poised, always waiting for the perfect opportunity to capture an image without interrupting the special moments happening around her. She spoke with Kozume quietly now and then, only asking for those around her to stop and pose on rare occasions when the setting was just right before stepping into the background once more, playing the role of the ever-attentive observer as breakfast commenced.

Akaashi and Kuroo were the first to arrive at the café, Sawamura, Sugawara, and Iwaizumi arriving soon after. They opted to claim seats together at the end of the long, elaborate table spread out before their packmates, Hinata happily fussing over Skye and Rue as the babies began to eat in their little highchairs side by side, quickly making a mess of themselves much to Hinata's delight.

Akaashi and Sugawara watched over them with happy smiles and affectionate laughter, offering the babies bits of egg, fruit, and sweetbreads to try while eating their respective breakfasts, Hinata eager to try feeding the babies as well. They were just recently beginning to eat solid foods, now able to hold onto whatever they found to be tasty and take messy little bites as they liked.

Rue was still quite a bit bigger than Skye, but both of the babies were steadily growing. It wouldn't be long until Skye started growing at an accelerated rate, his Alpha traits bound to provide massive growth spurts in comparison to Rue's, while the omega pup's presentation would likely result in her growth spurts becoming substantially smaller before lulling completely.

Rue's eyes were a beautiful hazel-green unlike anything Hinata had ever seen. In the sunlight, they appeared to be a vivid jade, while in shadow they appeared to be a darker hazel, almost brown. She was quiet and calm, never fussing regardless of whoever might decide to hold her or feed her, her personality completely mellow in comparison to Skye's.

The Alpha pup was persnickety with almost everything; textures, scents, and tastes. He didn't like being held by strangers, and he blatantly preferred Akaashi, Sugawara, or Hinata over everyone else. Constant exposure to Kuroo and Bokuto had earned his trust and acceptance over the months they'd spent together, and Kozume had found he could also hold Skye for short intervals as well, but it was rare that Sawamura or Iwaizumi could hold him for long before the pup started fussing and demanding the attention of one of the omegas close by. There were times when he would cry and fuss for hours without rest until he exhausted himself and eventually fell asleep. Now that he was growing older, he was a bit more agreeable, but his parents were already dreading his formidable toddler years.

Despite how fussy their first pup tended to be, Kuroo was excited to start trying for another as soon as Akaashi decided that's what he wanted too.

Sugawara and Sawamura had been trying for a second pup for the past few weeks, eager to gift Rue with a sibling as soon as possible. Iwaizumi was always there beside them, offering his support however he could while watching over their daughter. He was also excited to add another little one to their household, though for the time being he wasn't interested in personally acting as a sire to another pup. Sawamura was more than happy to take on that role in his stead. He had wanted to sire pups with Sugawara from the start, and they tried in earnest frequently. Sugawara was confident that with time, Sawamura would gift him with a pup too.

Aside from the pups, Hinata was excited to spend more time with Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, the beta pair greeting Hinata warmly before taking their seats nearby Kuroo and Akaashi. Kuroo grinned impishly as he welcomed them to the party, signing back and forth with his boyfriend for a few moments before giving him a quick kiss, Tsukishima's nose and cheeks dusted with traces of pink, Yamaguchi leaning closer to wave hello to Akaashi as well.

Kozume and Yaku were chatting back and forth quietly at the other end of the table while sharing bites of their breakfast, Haiba speaking with his sister now and then and asking her about her life in the city. Alisa was happy to catch up with her younger brother while taking bites of her cranberry scone, sipping at her latte and pausing to capture photos now and then before returning to their conversation, the siblings laughing and sharing the most recent developments in their respective lives with bright, happy smiles.

Atsumu and Osamu watched the pair of tall, fair siblings curiously, commenting to one another now and then and exchanging laughter, Bokuto perking his ears towards them and chuckling quietly before leaning a little closer to add his own thoughts as well.

Hinata cast his eyes along the length of the table, his chest twisting and his cheeks warm. It was perfect like this, all of them together.

He wanted Kageyama to be there with them. He couldn't wait for everyone to meet his new friend, his sister, and the amazing, talented members of Flightless.

After breakfast, they found themselves gathered at the vintage dress shop across the street, where Hinata, Bokuto, and Kozume were fitted into their chosen ceremonial garbs for the upcoming bonding ceremony. Alisa drifted between their fitting rooms as the tailors worked on small pin placements and stitches here and there, capturing eternally those beautiful reflections in the giant mirrors under bright lights of each of the bondmates in kind.

Bokuto was wearing a dark shade of blue, a deep hue caught between cobalt and sapphire, with accents of brighter, vivid blues to complement the Alpha's silver hair and fair complexion.

Kozume was wearing a lighter hue resembling sky blue, a soft, almost pastel shade hinting on the edges of periwinkle, with darker accents and stitched highlights of bright gold to compliment his hair and eyes.

Hinata was dressed in soft eggshell white, embellishments of pastel cream and soft honey-gold woven into the intricate pattern of the flowing fabric, tiny flowers sewn into the length of the opaque silk and the helm of each tier of buttery chiffon. He'd opted for a traditionally-styled omega bonding dress, the silken jumpsuit beneath fitted at the ankles and wrists as appropriate for a male omega, his bared feet wrapped precisely around the ankle and arch with hand-stitched silken flowers.

He wore slippers while travelling to the park with his packmates, but as soon as they reached the venue he was barefoot again, running through the dewy grass while clinging to bunches of chiffon and silk with both hands, laughing merrily and twisting this way and that, his bonding garb swaying beautifully with his movements. It made him feel like a princess, like the most beautiful omega in existence at that very moment. That was what he had wanted for his ceremony. For a moment, only a moment, he wanted to feel as if the entire universe was created for and belonged to him.

The photoshoot lasted through most of the morning, Alisa thoroughly and dutifully fulfilling her role as photographer, including each of the bondmates and packmates that had gathered in celebration. She smiled to herself contentedly as she carefully logged and categorized each of the beautiful, enchanting photos that were captured, ensuring Kozume and his bondmates were satisfied with everything she had procured so far before moving on to the next set.

She found her favorite photo sets were those of Hinata, Bokuto, and Kozume walking together through the sunshine as the sun ascended along the treeline behind them, showering them with brilliant rays of emerald and gold, and the more personal, intimate photos she captured of Hinata kneeling in the grass with both Skye and Rue, smiling down at the babies as they rested beside him, his dress splayed beautifully around them.

As morning faded into afternoon, the packmates left the park behind and made their way into the city to the venue at the hanging gardens. Music could already be heard as they stepped inside under the brilliant archways of flowers, Hinata slipping out of his shoes once more and running ahead through the twisting pathways to reach their destination, his cheeks rosy and bright as he came to stand before the stage where Kageyama and his bandmates were playing.

He was breathless with emotion, panting softly as he clung to his dress, happy tears gathering along his lashes as he smiled up at Kageyama, the beta smiling down at him warmly and chuckling softly as he paused between lyrics before resuming his singing once more.

Everyone gathered beneath the pavilion side by side, surrounding Hinata, Kozume, and Bokuto, as one by one they began to exchange their vows before their loved ones, and declare their lifebonds to the world.

Hinata could barely remember the words he had memorized to say aloud to Bokuto and Kozume. He was trembling as he spoke, his chest twisting and his stomach in knots, his entire being singing with overwhelming emotion and restless energy unlike anything he had ever known. They returned vows of their own, soft touches and whispered reassurances and praise, Bokuto holding him close and kissing his brow sweetly while Kozume slid a ring onto his finger. A glinting golden band to rest beside the silver one he'd worn since the night they'd promised themselves to one another forever. With trembling fingers he slid the matching golden ring onto Kozume's finger a moment after, the beta smiling and leaning closer to press his smile against Hinata's flushed cheek.

The ceremony was a surreal blur, laughter and warmth and sweet kisses exchanged beneath a myriad of blooming flowers and soft, delicate lights. When the ceremony transitioned into the afterparty, Akaashi and Sugawara pulled Hinata aside and helped him out of his dress, leaving only the silken jumpsuit behind, Hinata immediately seeking out his partners to tug them excitedly onto the petal-strewn dance floor.

He danced with each of them, Alisa taking pictures all the while. He danced with Kozume first, then Bokuto, then Osamu and Atsumu, the twins more than happy to take turns spinning Hinata between them, the omega laughing brightly at the dizzying sensation before reaching out to his bondmates once more. Bokuto couldn't stop smiling, holding Hinata delicately around his waist as the omega flit between him and Kozume, the beta laughing cheerfully and twisting this way and that to accommodate Hinata's twirls, Bokuto chuckling and watching over them, reaching out for Hinata whenever the omega leaned into his touch.

As the afternoon grew long, and the sun began its slow descent from the horizon, Hinata took some time to rest and enjoy the presence of his packmates; sharing treats with Akaashi and Sugawara, spending time with Skye and Rue, chatting excitedly back and forth with Haiba and Yaku, promising they would all hang out together soon.

He also spent time dedicated to thanking Tsukishima and Yamaguchi for coming to the ceremony to celebrate with all of them, despite not officially being integrated into their lupine-centric pack. The felines responded with varying levels of affection, Yamaguchi wrapping Hinata in a warm embrace and hugging him tightly, while Tsukishima opted to simply reach out and brush his fingers along the delicate flowers covering Hinata's arm, giving him a soft smile.

"We're happy for you." Tsukishima said gently. "May your life be filled with love and happiness, for you and both your bondmates."

Shadows fell over the pavilion as sunset hues filled the vast sky, burnt orange and vivid pink melding together beautifully with burnished gold. The band had been playing off and on for hours now, and the bandmates were taking turns resting and enjoying the catering buffet and drinks from the bar, Hinata waiting until Kageyama stepped down from the stage to approach him with a shy smile. He bit his lip, reaching out to touch his arm lightly, the beta turning to blink down at him in surprise before giving him a soft smile.

"Hey." He said softly, lifting his drink and taking another sip of champagne. "Congratulations on your bonding. You were beautiful out there, exchanging vows with your mates. Your dress was like something out of a fairytale, I'd never seen anything like it."

Hinata blushed lightly, letting out a soft breath of laughter and stepping a little closer, glancing away from Kageyama to look across the wide spread of desserts and savory treats beside them. He reached for a macaroon, lifting it to take a bite and watching Kageyama do the same, taking little bites of different treats before he glanced over and their eyes met, Hinata's heart twisting and fluttering. He'd been waiting patiently for this moment, and now that it was here he wasn't about to let it pass him by.

He finished his macaroon, then reached over and took Kageyama's hand, squeezing the beta's fingers lightly.

"Will you dance with me?" He asked, and Kageyama's breath hitched quietly, the beta's cheeks brightening to a lovely shade of pink. "Please?"

Kageyama was quiet for a moment, then nodded, setting his glass aside and allowing Hinata to pull him out onto the dancefloor, the omega smiling and giggling softly while guiding the beta's hands to his waist, reaching up and wrapping his arms around his shoulders and tugging him into a light embrace.

"Thank you for being here." Hinata said softly, his lips pressed against Kageyama's shoulder. "Thank you for being here with me."

Kageyama hummed softly, hugging Hinata a little closer and turning his nose to press along the curve of Hinata's ear, breathing him in quietly while closing his eyes, murmuring back gently, "Thank you for allowing me to be."

The beta perked his ears towards the sound of voices, Hinata tilting his ears towards the sound as well, the two pausing their steps and glancing towards the heart of the pavilion where Yaku was standing beneath a cascade of multicolored lights, Haiba watching him with wide eyes, the younger beta pressing his hand over his mouth lightly.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Yaku said gently, looking up into Haiba's eyes and holding out his hand, offering his boyfriend a ring. The white-gold glittered beneath the warm lights, tears starting to silently streak down Haiba's red cheeks, the younger beta nodding and sobbing behind his hand. Yaku let out a soft sigh of relief, watching his intended with a calm smile, guiding the ring onto Haiba's finger before pulling him into a tight hug.

"I love you! I love you!" Haiba sobbed, Yaku shushing him gently and holding him against his shoulder, cupping the back of Haiba's head and carding his fingers through his pale hair.

"I love you too, baby." Yaku murmured gently, kissing his wet cheeks. "I love you so much."

Kageyama was quiet, watching them with glassy eyes. Hinata could feel his tension, feel the tightness within the beta's limbs as if it were his own. He watched Kageyama for a long moment before pulling him close again, Kageyama shifting his hold on Hinata's waist and ducking to hide his face against the omega's bright, fluffy hair. Hinata could feel the way the beta was trembling as he choked back a sob, Hinata arching his brow and tilting his face up to nuzzle Kageyama's cheek. The beta met his eyes silently, Hinata searching his eyes and reaching up to cup his cheeks, pushing himself onto his toes and pressing their lips together slowly.

No one was watching them, all eyes on Yaku and Haiba, the laughter and applause surrounding their engagement the only thing on everyone else's mind aside from Hinata, Kozume, and Bokuto's bonding ceremony.

No one understood how painful it was for Kageyama to attend such an event. No one had any idea how hard it had been to maintain his composure throughout the entire day, and now that the sun was setting and the afterparty was drawing to a close, Kageyama couldn't bring himself to hide his emotions anymore. Hinata searched his eyes, stroking his small fingers along Kageyama's cheeks, watching him closely, carefully wiping his stray tears away.

"You're not alone." Hinata whispered, holding Kageyama's eyes. "I'm right here. I'm with you. You're not alone. I'm right here beside you."

"I'll lose you too." Kageyama whispered, his brow pinching, tears streaking down his flushed cheeks. "I'll lose you too, and what happens then? How can I bring myself to keep on living if I lose you too?"

"You won't lose me, Kageyama." Hinata whispered, pressing their foreheads together gently. "I'll be right here with you, in this life, in the next. The same way Toru is still with me, and Chai is still with you. The memories we carry of our loved ones will never fade away. We'll be a part of each other's lives, even once we're gone. As long as you want me to be, I'll be right here beside you."

"Promise me?" Kageyama whispered, his hold on Hinata drawing tighter than before, almost desperate as his words began to shake. "Promise me you'll never leave?"

"I won't." Hinata whispered, bringing their lips together gently once again. "I won't, Kageyama. I won't."

Kageyama sniffed and nodded, breathing against Hinata's lips for a moment before kissing him back, the omega blushing lightly and petting his cheek, a soft purr starting in his chest. They held one another close, swaying gently back and forth together as Yaku and Haiba danced in the center of the pavilion, celebrating dedicating their lives to one another as Hinata had with his bondmates during the sunny hours before.

Hinata wasn't certain how long they danced for, half-asleep on his feet as he swayed with Kageyama slowly, eventually blinking and drawing his cheek from the beta's shoulder as he felt a warm hand smooth along his side, Bokuto's voice drawing him back to the present moment.

"Hey baby," Bokuto crooned softly, meeting Kageyama's eyes and offering a friendly smile before refocusing on the omega between them, "You about ready to go home and get some sleep? The plane leaves early tomorrow. We don't want to be late for our flight."

"Yeah." Hinata agreed tiredly, yawning a little and leaning into his Alpha's touch, smiling up at him fondly. "Give me a moment to say goodbye? I'll be right there."

"Alright." Bokuto chuckled softly, carding his fingers through Hinata's hair affectionately before pulling away, leaving Hinata and Kageyama to say their goodbyes, the omega glancing up to meet the beta's eyes.

Kageyama was watching him with a soft expression, offering him a little smile and leaning down to kiss his forehead, nuzzling him for a moment before murmuring, "Get some sleep. You'll need to be rested to enjoy your first day at the beach tomorrow."

Hinata hummed softly, still searching Kageyama's eyes, lacing their fingers and squeezing lightly, asking after a moment, "It's alright? That I kissed you before?"

Kageyama's brow arched a bit and he exhaled softly, his lips turning up into an amused grin. "Yes, Hinata. It's alright that you kissed me. I kissed you back, remember?"

"Oh." Hinata replied back just as softly, blushing lightly and recalling the details of the moment they had shared between them, his fingers tightening between Kageyama's.

The beta watched him fondly, chuckling before humming thoughtfully, Hinata meeting his eyes once more. "We'll talk about it more later?"

"Yeah," Hinata breathed, offering Kageyama a shy little smile, "I'd like that."

"Me too." Kageyama replied softly, leaning closer and wrapping his arms around Hinata in a light hug, the omega squeezing him back gently. "Have fun on your trip. Try not to get too sunburnt."

Hinata laughed brightly as he pulled away, grinning and giving Kageyama a little wink. "Oh don't worry! Kenma always slathers me with sunscreen! It's Koutarou we really have to worry about!"

The Alpha glanced up from his conversation with Kozume and Kuroo upon hearing his name, Hinata running the short distance to his bonded's side, cuddling up under his arm and quickly joining in on their conversation, Kageyama watching over them with a warm smile.

He hadn't felt anything like this since losing Mala'chai, it almost didn't feel real. Whatever this was that was starting between them, Kageyama was hesitant and almost apprehensive to find out, but he tried to look at things from Hinata's perspective. He didn't want to continue living in fear. With the omega at his side, he would try his very best to play the role of the optimist, and do whatever he could to let down his walls and allow Hinata into his heart.

He didn't want to be afraid to fall in love. Not anymore.

There was already the potential there, that Kageyama could feel that way again with someone new if he allowed himself to. Someone he trusted completely, someone who would be there for him to reassure him and push back his fears whenever they might arise. He could easily, so very easily, fall in love with Hinata, if only he could trust himself to do so. If he could gather the courage to open himself up, to show his vulnerability, and take the leap. They might crash and burn together beautifully, or they might instead find happiness and wholehearted love that would transcend a lifetime.

Kageyama wouldn't know what could possibly happen between them until he let Hinata love him first.
