The Tragedy of the Irredeemable
Chapter 4: A Sour Aftertaste
Vanellope sits with Rancis and the other racers at the Sugar Rush Raceway as Sticky and Cinndon are racing each other, one on one. The crowd keeps their eyes on the screen watching as Sticky maintained a small lead on Cinndon as the race reached the half way point.
"Those two are neck at neck." Vanellope said. "This is turning out to be a great race."
Rancis smiled and nodded. "Yeah, they make a great couple, they bring out the best in each other."
Vanellope spaced out for a second, her mind leaving the race. "The best. Yeah." she says, enthusiastically.
Rancis turned to face his girlfriend. "Nelly? You okay, you seem to have just spaced out."
Vanellope slightly shook her head, bringing her back to focus. "Yeah, sorry."
Rancis tilts his head slightly. "Whats on your mind?"
Vanellope looked beyond the track. "Im just thinking about Creamorana."
Rancis's eyes shot open. "Creamorana? What about her?"
"Maybe we didnt approach her situation the best." Vanellope admitted.
Rancis remembered what happened that day.
Vanellope and the rest of the racers are gathered at the finish line to the Raceway, some of them bruised up. Creamorana is separated from the rest as they all face her, their faces a mix of anger and hurt.
"Creamorana, you have gone too far this time." Vanellope stated
Creamorana took a step back and put her hands up. "Now hold on, you know I didnt mean to have that happen."
"Creamorana, you made Cinndon, Minty and Taffyta crash into the Gumball machines, You drove Swizzle and Candlehead off the cake, You made Rancis crash in the caves and you ran me off the road at the last stretch." Vanellope explained, angry as the rest of the racers yelled in agreement. "All to take first place in what was suppose to be a fun race."
"What is racing without some competition? It helps us get better." Creamorana said, defensively.
Taffyta blurted out "Your too competitive! Your doing all this to get better. Your just like King Candy!"
That comment caused the entire crowd to erupt, everyone screaming at Creamorana, and her screaming right back.
"All I want is to be the best! Is that too much to ask?" She screams in anger toward the crowd.
Vanellope stepped forward, causing the uprising voices to quiet down. "Creamorana, we dont need someone who is far to competitive, to the point of harming others. You have hurt your fellow racers on more then one occasion to achieve victory. I have no choice but to have you banished from Sugar Rush."
Creamorana's anger face dropped for one of shock and surprise. "No, I will have no where to go."She says as she starts to back away from the angry mob encroaching on her.
"You should have thought of that before putting winning over everyone else's safety Creamorana." Rancis said.
Creamorana looks around at the other racers as they inch closer. "No! Stay back!"
"Dont make this harder then it has to be Cream." Taffyta said as Creamorana's back hit her kart.
Creamorana started to hyperventilate as the rest of the racers got closer. Her eyes darting back and forth, seeing nothing but angry faces. In a moment, she climbs into her kart and drove away, not looking back.
Rancis agreed with Vanellope, they could have taken a better approach to the situation with Creamorana, but several racers were hurt and they were all angry and scared. They didnt need another power hungry megalomaniac taking over their world.
Rancis put his hand on Vanellope's shoulder, consoling her. "Vanellope, everyone was overwhelmed with emotion that day. While we could have handled the situation better, no one was thinking logically, everyone was too angry that day."
Vanellope sighed. "I know, maybe we could have just tried to understand her instead of being so rash about it."
Rancis nodded as the sounds of engines could be heard coming closer to the finish line. They looked up and noticed Cinndon in front of Sticky as they came down the final straight away, crossing the finish line.
The crowd erupted in cheers as Cinndon came to a stop, Sticky just behind him.
Cinndon took off his helmet and turned to Sticky. "Well Sticky, you owe me a date."
Sticky smiled as she took her helmet off. "A bet is a bet Cinn. You won fair and square."
As the crowd started running down the stands towards them, Vanellope looked across the landscape, wondering what happened to Creamorana.
