Well, here it is. It's time for Sasha's first day of school go? Read on to find out, my loves. =)
The day had finally come. After another day of waiting, today was the day that Sasha would get to begin going to school.
"This is gonna be so much fun having you in school, Sasha!" Bayley excitedly chirped. "How are you feeling?"
"I, uh," Sasha began before stopping. "I'm ...not sure how I'm feeling."
"What do you mean?" Bayley asked, a bit confused.
"I'm not sure. I was excited, but now I feel ...weird," Sasha began. "My insides feel tight, I've been feeling a bit shaky, I feel warm, and I've been thinking about how things will go for me today. Is that normal?"
"I ...think so," Bayley said as she thought over what the magenta-haired Gem told her.
"It is? Then, what does this mean?" Sasha asked, hoping to get an answer to all of this.
"I think all of that means you're just nervous about going to school," Bayley said.
"Really?" Sasha asked. Seeing the ponytailed brunette nod, Sasha asked "I see. Did you have similar feelings when you started going to school?"
"Yeah, I did. I guess it's something that came from going from just being around the guys all day to being around so many new faces," Bayley began. "It was a bit scary at first, but after some time, I started to like school. It's where I met some of my new friends, and it's where I've learned a lot of new things. So, I'm sure you'll grow to like school just as much as I have."
Taking in all of what Bayley said, Sasha thought over what she was just told. 'All of this sounds ...admittedly scary. But, I'm sure I'll grow to like school and being among humans. I just have to make it through today to gauge how things will go for me.'
"Oh, girls?" Dean could be heard calling.
"Coming, Dean!" Bayley answered as she grabbed and pulled on her backpack. "Come on. I think Dean and the others want to see us for something."
Nodding as she mostly followed Bayley's lead, Sasha followed the brunette from one of the back rooms they were in to where the other three Gems.
"Well, well. Would you look at the cute new kid?" Dean joked with a smile. "How're you feeling, Sash?"
"I'm feeling ...nervous. At least that's what I gathered from my talk with Bayley," Sasha said, her hands bunching in the hem of her pastel purple top.
"That's perfectly normal, Sasha," Seth said, sending a sympathetic smile the magenta-haired Gem's way. "Happened with Bayley when she first started school."
"So she told me," Sasha said with a laugh. "I just feel ...worried. What if I don't fit in well among the humans? What if my lack of knowledge of the modern world proves to be a bother? What if-"
"Sasha, relax. You're going to do well today. You're going to be taught by some great people from what Bayley's told us. You'll do fine. And you can believe that," Roman smiled as he rested a hand on Sasha's head.
Looking around to see everyone give her similar looks-with Rosey Paws even giving a cheery "Nyaa!" in support-the magenta-haired Gem nodded before saying "Thanks, everyone. I'm sure my nerves will go away, so hopefully, my first day of school will go well."
"That's the spirit, runt," Dean smiled. "Now, it'll be time for you two to be headed to school soon."
"Not yet, it isn't!" Seth cut in. With a few sets of confused eyes on him, the two-toned Gem held up a camera before saying "We gotta have a first day photo shoot."
"Is this ...also normal?" Sasha asked, feeling a bit confused about this "first day photo shoot".
"In a way, it is," Dean said with a light laugh. "It's just a little something we did for Bayley on her first day of school. It won't take long."
"If you say so, Dean, I'll take part in this first day photo shoot," Sasha said with a smile.
"That's the spirit," Dean said with a smile of his own.
The photo shoot went about how it did for Bayley with Seth first taking pictures of Sasha by herself, then with each of the others-first with Roman, then Dean, the sandy blonde Gem taking the camera and taking pictures of Seth and Sasha, Bayley giving Sasha a hug in a couple of their pictures, Sasha holding Rosey Paws for a couple of pictures, and Sasha taking a couple with Sami who had arrived a few minutes before school started-with the "photo shoot" finale coming with a big group picture being taken after Seth got the camera timed and on a tripod. Once the last of the pictures was taken, the trio was almost set to head out the door when-
"Sasha, wait!" Dean called.
"What? What is it, Dean?" Sasha asked as she and the others were joined by the sandy blonde.
"Your Gem. Let me help you with it," Dean began.
"What are you going to do to it?" Sasha asked, starting to feel a bit nervous about this.
"I'm going to put a shield around the part that comes out of your back. It should help with making sure it doesn't get cracked and keeping it from everyone's sight," Dean explained. Then, once you're back here, I'll take the shield down."
"Are you sure that'll work?" Seth asked, feeling a bit wary about this plan of Dean's.
"Well, ...I'm not sure, as I've never had to hide a Gem's Gem before, but ...it can't hurt," Dean said.
Not saying anything else, everyone watched as Dean manifested a shield that was the exact size and shape of Sasha's Gem.
"Whoa. That was pretty cool of you to do, Dean!" Bayley chirped.
"It was nothing," Dean shrugged with a grin. "Now, like I said, I've never done anything like this before, so hopefully, my shield'll hold and keep your Gem covered."
"I hope it does," Sasha said as she swallowed and slung her backpack over one of her shoulders.
"Don't worry, Sasha. I'll help keep the shield up over your Gem," Bayley assured the magenta-haired Gem.
"Thanks, Bayley," Sasha smiled. Saying her goodbyes along with Bayley and Sami, the trio then left and made their way to school, with Sasha doing her best to calm herself down on their walk.
Reaching the school as the trio made their way through the gates and through the schoolyard, they then made their way into the building where Sasha let her eyes behold the sights and sounds of a school. 'So many people. So many rooms. This certainly isn't what I was expecting at all,' she thought with a nervous swallow.
Looking over and seeing the nervous look on Sasha's face, Bayley said "Sasha? Sasha? Sasha. It's okay. All of this is totally normal for a school."
"She's right, Sasha. It may seem a bit scary, but this is how school can be in the morning," Sami said. "Come on. Let's go to the office so that we can get your schedule. We can work from there as far as helping you around the school goes."
All Sasha could do was nod at this. As she let Bayley and Sami lead her to the office, the magenta-haired Gem looked around herself: There were what she guessed to be others there to learn as well, older people who she guessed were instructors, and various odd sights-like the tall metal boxes that lined some walls and signs on some of the walls. Her gazing had gone on until they reached what she guessed was the "office" Sami spoke of. Heading inside with the others, Sasha watched as Bayley and Sami struck up a conversation with the woman with red hair sitting at the desk in the middle of the room.
"Morning, Ms. Kanellis," Bayley smiled with a wave.
"Good morning, Bayley. Good morning, Sami," Ms. Kanellis said with a smile of her own. "How have you two been today? What brings you to the office so early in the day?"
"We've been doing fine," Bayley said. "We're actually in here because we're helping show my cousin Sasha around the school. It's her first day today, so she's been feeling a bit nervous."
"Aww. That's very nice of you both to do," Ms. Kanellis said as she began to look through a stack of papers before finding what she was looking for, said thing being Sasha's schedule. "Here's your cousin's schedule. All she has to do is go to each room listed here. Now, do you think I should call someone in to help her find her classes or will you both be able to handle helping her around?"
"I'm sure we'll be able to handle it, Ms. K.," Sami said with a smile as Bayley took Sasha's schedule.
"Great. And, Sasha, I'd just like to welcome you to Emerald Pines Middle School. If you ever need help with anything, feel free to come back here. Our doors are always open," Ms. Kanellis said with a smile.
All Sasha did was nod with a bow in response to this before walking out of the office with the others.
"OK, Sasha. Hmm…. Looks like you have some good classes here," Bayley said as she handed Sasha her schedule.
Taking the paper, Sasha read over the classes she had. 'What an odd mix of classes. Drama, Physical Fitness, Math, History, Free Period, and Literature.'
Seeing how Sasha was looking over her schedule, Bayley stifled a slight snicker before asking "So, what do you think of your classes?"
"It's ...certainly a mix of classes," Sasha said. "But, I have to admit. They all sound quite interesting."
"That's good," Bayley smiled at this. "So, what's your first class today?"
"Umm, it's ...History 2 with W. Regal," Sasha said.
"Oh, cool. Me and Sami had Mr. Regal last semester. He's a pretty good teacher, so I'm sure you'll like him," Bayley said.
"You've already been in his class? Meaning we won't be in a class together?" Sasha asked, starting to feel nervous.
"No, we won't," Bayley said, Seeing the nervous look on Sasha's face, Bayley said "Sasha? Sasha. Sasha, look at me. It's going to be okay. It's going to be alright. Like we've been telling, I was in a similar position myself when I first started school. But it's going to be fine. You'll do great in your classes."
"Are you," Sasha began before swallowing a bit "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes, I'm sure about that, Sash. You've got nothing to worry about. I'm sure your classes will all go well," Bayley said with a smile and thumbs up.
Hearing Bayley say this with Sami echoing this, Sasha nodded as she let the pair lead her on to her very first class on her very first day of school and as she worked to calm herself down. 'To my first day of school. Here goes ...everything.'
Well, it looks like Sasha's first day is off to a fairly nervous day, as it would appear that she doesn't have any classes with Bayley and Sami. ...At least the before school photo shoot went well, and Dean was able to help with protecting Sasha's Gem (with Bayley offering up her help with keeping the shield up). Coming next chapter will be Sasha's first class and beyond. What lies ahead for her? Stay tuned to find out. Until next time, don't forget to R&R please. =)
