Greetings, dear readers, and welcome to the newest chapter of 'Bayley's Universe' (that didn't take me too long to have finished and posted...*throws up some confetti in celebration*)! Last time, we left off with Sasha making her way through her very first ever day of school. She still seems fairly nervous about being school, but it also looks she's taking to learning pretty well. How will she take to her next class? Read on to find out, my loves. =)
As she would later learn, Physical Fitness had been a class Sasha had all but fallen in love with.
After her introduction to her teacher, who greeted her with a welcome similar to the ones Mr. Regal and Mr. Copeland gave her, she followed Paige into what she was told was the "locker room"-'More of these strange metal boxes are in here. I wonder what's inside of them,' the magenta-haired Gem thought-before she was told by the raven-haired teen that she had to change her clothing from the outfit she had on to the spare outfit Dean had out for her that morning-"Now, I'm not sure which classes you'll have. But, if one of your classes is one where you can get some exercise in, take these. You can change into this outfit so that you won't get your nicer clothes messed up. Just don't go too overboard with your activities," she could remember the sandy blonde telling her. After changing out of the outfit she had worn to school into what Dean gave her, that outfit being a simple white t-shirt and black shorts, she followed Paige along with some of the other students out of the locker room and back into the main gymnasium.
"OK, class," Ms. Moore told her class when she saw that her class was all gathered together. "Since it's something we started yesterday, today, we're going to be playing more softball. Now, let's head outside to the baseball field and once we're out there, I want you all back in the teams I put you in. And, Sasha, if you'd like, I'd like for you to be on Paige's team. Alright, let's head outside!" With a blow of her whistle, the class made their way outside.
Following along with the class, Sasha couldn't help but feel a bit confused. 'Softball? What kind of human sport is that?'
Looking over to see the fairly confused look on the magenta-haired teen's face, Paige asked "Everything okay over there, Sasha?"
"Not ...really. Can you tell me what softball is? I've never played it before, so I don't want to look too lost when we play."
"Well, to explain the basic rules, we'll be in two different teams. Between the two, we play until we reach a certain number of points."
"And how do we score points?"
"It's somewhat fairly simple. One person'll throw, or pitch, the ball to the person that'll be at bat, who'll then try to hit the ball. If they can hit the ball, then they can run to one of the three bases with the last being home plate. If you can make it back there, then you score a point. But, if you can't hit the ball in three tries or someone touches you with the ball, then you're-"
"You're out," Sasha cut in. "I'm sorry I cut in. I'm just familiar with the rules of baseball, and I noticed that the rules of this game sound quite similar to those."
"It's fine. Hopefully, you knowing the rules'll help us out."
"Don't worry. I'll do my best," Sasha said with a smile.
"Good to hear," Paige said with a smile of her own as they reached the field.
Once she saw that her class was all on the field, Ms. Moore said "OK! Since Xavier's team started as defense yesterday, his team will start at bat first today. Mustafa's team will start as defense today. Now, let's play ball" before she blew her whistle as the students went to their positions.
Following Paige to an area that she was told was called "the dugout"-"We wait here until it's our turn at bat," Paige explained-Sasha watched the first five students took their turns at bat, most of them successfully hitting the ball far enough so that they could make a run for the bases, with two students not having as much luck.
"Next up. Sasha, you're at bat!" Ms. Moore called.
Rising from where she was sitting, Sasha made her way from out of the dugout as she heard Paige wish her luck. As she made her way to home plate, the magenta-haired Gem had to keep reminding herself 'Keep your strength in check. Humans of this age aren't that strong.' Finally reaching home plate, Sasha picked up the bat from the ground. Getting a feel of the leather bat handle in her hands, the magenta-haired Gem turned her attention to the pitcher. Thinking back on her life years ago before what happened between her and Dean, she remembered one of the pastimes that she would take part in with humans of that time. 'Don't hit the ball too hard. Just enough to help your team with getting some points.'
The ball came her way. And with the right amount of speed and power, at just the right moment, Sasha hit the ball and sent it flying midway of the field-'No need to give my all on my first day,' the Gem thought to herself with a slight smirk-before she joined her teammates that were on the bases in making their runs to home plate while the other team scrambled to get the ball. But, their efforts were in vain as, just when they finally got the ball, Sasha made it to home plate, adding to the points her teammates got.
As she walked past the student next up to bat, Sasha could hear some of what her classmates were telling her, most of said remarks being fairly congratulatory. 'I seem to have impressed my classmates a bit. That's a good sign.'
"Good job up there, Sasha. That was some hit you got," Paige smiled as the magenta-haired teen sat down beside her.
"It was nothing really. I just thought back to baseball games I've played with my ...dad," Sasha said, hesitating a bit when she said the word 'dad'.
"Well, it sure seems like those games really helped out," Paige said.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that," Sasha smiled, her mind drifting off to times in her past when she and Dean would do many things together.
The rest of the class went by quite well for the magenta-haired Gem. The game had went by what felt pretty quickly with Paige and Sasha's team winning by three points. With Ms. Moore sending the class back inside as the period was coming to an end, the Gem walked along with Paige as she listened to other students talking around her.
"So, how'd you like your first day of Physical Fitness?"
"I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought it was fun and a nice break from sitting at a desk."
Laughing a bit, Paige said "Yeah, I agree with that. It's nice to get a break from having to listen to lectures most of the day."
"It is. I'll have to make sure I let Bayley know how my first three classes have gone."
"I'm sure she'll be pleased with the status update you give her."
"I think she will be, too," Sasha agreed with a smile. Changing out of what she wore for Physical Fitness-all while making sure to keep her back turned so that no one would see her Gem-the magenta-haired Gem let her thoughts go back to how her first three classes have gone. 'I have to say this was quite a fun class. School's been going quite well so far. I hope the rest of my day will be the same.'
Aww, isn't this great? Sasha seems to have taken a liking to her Physical Fitness class. She likes the chance to get some activity in, she seems to have impressed her classmates, and it seems like playing brought up some memories of her life many years ago. There's also the little oddity of her mentioning a "dad" she played baseball with in the past. Wonder who she could've meant by that (even though I feel like I may have given that away ^^,)? And with three classes done, ahead lies lunch and her other classes. How will all of that go for Sasha? ...Stay tuned for the next chapter to find out. Until then, don't forget to R&R please, and stay safe out there. And I will see you all next time. =)
