Of Phone calls and Breakfast

Nobodys' pov

The next day or rather the next morning flew by since it was Sunday and Sunday meant no online classes, which meant no rush for Kenzan Johan or Judai to even wake up. Jehu however got the three of them going somehow. The only true way to get three guys up faster than ever was cooking a hot breakfast.

He decided to raid Judai's fridge for ingredients which he luckily found plenty of to cook. His best cooking was waffles with eggs and bacon which is exactly what he started making. Not long after the waffles were cooking did Kenzan start stirring up and groaning in his sleep sounding hungry.

"What… time is it…?" His yawn cut off his sentence as the words fell out of his mouth.

"It is… almost 11 am." He had to double check the time, he was fairly certain his own brother never slept that late before. Kenzan looked at his phone and noticed a shit ton of messages.

"Sam hell my phone was on silent!? My mothers gonna murder me and serve me with cole slaw." Jehu looked at the male confused as he quickly called his mother who was screaming so loud on the phone Jehu heard breaks in the conversation.

"M-mama! C-calm down please! I-I was asleep! My phone went silent on me! Wha..? What do you mean about his mom!? WHAT she was sick this whole time with that? Is there gonna be surgery?" He paused for a moment which in response he let out a hard breath.

"I'll let Judai know.. your gonna stay there with her right? Alright.. well Jim's at home. I'll be careful.." he hung up the phone his ass plopped back down on the sofa his face twisted in a upset way.

"Wanna explain or wait till the sleeping duo wake up?" Kenzan looked up at Jehu as another heavy sigh escaped him. He rubbed the back of his head debating as he spoke up. Jehu's eyes widen in surprise.

"That bad huh… All we can do is be here for Judai and keep his spirits up. What about your other friends the one from the web cam?" Kenzan blinked his eyes.

"I could see if they'll answer or if they'll respond but since it's a free day some of them might not respond."

Jehu shook his head in understanding. His gaze drew to the stairs leading up to where his brother and Judai slept 'I hope things get better for you Judai..' He could only think as he returned to cooking.

Upstairs Johan stirred quietly but remained in place when he felt soft hair under his jaw. 'That's right' his gaze went down to the brunette in his arms. 'Judai needed help last night…' his emerald eyes had a sharp flash of pain in them.

He recalled how he looked just like Judai when his own parents passed away shortly before Covid was even announced. It took many months of closing everything down in Norway in their parents names with the help of the family lawyer and accountant before Johan could travel to Japan to live with his brother.

Jehu had moved to Japan to get a fresh start and a new job after college. He was originally gonna he going there while they're parents were busy with business before Covid struck. Johan let a sigh escape him as he tightened his grip on the brunette in his arms.

He listened to the soft snores that came from the male in his arms. He leaned back just slightly to see his face. There were red rims under his eyes from the crying he did yesterday and his breathing as slightly ragged from the stuffy nose he had from the crying as well.

He brushed the hair on his forehead lightly a smile on his face as he looked at him. Judai snuggled closer to Johan's chest a smile lightly tugging the brunettes lips in his sleep. Johan could feel his own heart thudding in his chest at the sudden extra warm of Judai's breath against his shirt.

He blushed a bit at the warmth but smiled happily and sighed again in content as he placed a kiss on the brunette's crown. He didn't want to move an inch nay a centimeter from the brunette out of fear he'd wake him up.

He was at peace in his sleep and reality for the brunette right now was terrible. Johan didn't know the state of why Judai was on the floor nor what caused it. It hurt his own heart to think the first person near and dear to him had lost everything.

'No, Ju-Chan still had his friends, and me and Jehu… whatever happened, he has us.' Johan thought looking towards the window as the sun broke through the curtains and nearly blinded the bluenette. He clenched his eyes shut and burred his face into Judai's brown hair.

'Dear God, make it so nothing tears me from Ju-chan's side…' he pleaded in his prayer. He didn't pray very much except when he was at the gravesite of his parents before he came to Japan. He had prayed to god and his parents to watch over both brothers and keep them safe. He did once pray to god to give him a true friend, someone who'd mean the world to him. 'God answered that prayer at least… Ju-chan, I'm never leaving your side.'

"Mmm… Jo…Johan..?" His voice was a breeze but Johan heard it well as he lifted his head from on top of Judai's looking at the brunette who rubbed his face with the back of his hand his brown rich eyes looked concerningly at the blue haired male. His face quickly drops from concern to shame and regret the minute he recounts yesterdays events.

"J-Johan… I'm sorry you had to see me like that.. you Jehu and Kenzan…" He covers his face with his hands before turning to lay on his face tears escaping the sides of his hands as he rolled. Johan wasn't gonna have any of it.

"Ju-chan, It's better I found you. You were not in a good place or a good state. You would've made yourself sick, make everyone worry about you more." Johan sat up and pulled the brunette close to his chest resting his chin on his head as his arms looped around his chest and waist, holding him. The brunettes face turned pink at the action but quickly calmed himself down as he let Johan hold him in his comforting grip.

Judai relaxed just a bit before realizing the smell in the air. "Johan is someone cooking?" Johan realized the smell just then as he got up dragging Judai with him out the bedroom door his arms still around the brunette.

"Gah! Johan! I'm still attached to you- let go!" He half stumbled out the door and down the stairs. Johan paid no attention as he got to the bottom still dragging a now annoyed Judai who glared at him.

"I can walk damnit! Let go!" Though fighting against the Scandinavian was futile because he had a better grip and was stronger than the more lightweight and shorter brunette. Kenzan looked up at Judai's cries and laughs seeing the bluenette dragging the lighter male down the stairs.

"Johan why are you man handling the Sarge like he's a giant sack of manure?" Kenza laughed harder slapping his hand across his knee as Johan walks into the living room still dragging the half screaming brunette along with him as he looked at his brother.

"Bror hva gjør du?" His Norwegian language came out confusing the two males listening while Jehu looked at his younger brother.

"Lage frokost og slutte å snakke norsk!" Johan rolled his eyes at his brothers words. Jehu's next words caught him off guard.

"Kommer du til å gi slipp på ham eller skal du dra ham ned i alteret sånn?" Johan immediately turned bright red dropped Judai who didn't have his feet under him the whole time as his whole body hit the floor with a thud.

"Ack! Ngh… Ow.." The brunette let out a light painful noise which caught Johan's attention as he yelped in surprise.

"Ah! S-sorry, Ju-Chan!" He pulled the brunette up onto his feet looking even more embarrassed than he did when his brother spoke to him.

"Hahahahaha! You got my brother how you say… whipped!" Jehu's laugh bellowed out of the kitchen as he made plates of food for the 4 of them and set them on the bar counter.

"Whipped?" Judai sounded confused but by Johan's expression was a hateful glare at his brother.

"Drittsekk holder du noen gang hemmeligheter?" He spewed out taking a bar stool seat next to Judai and Kenzan walks over and take the next seat to him. Jehu shook his head chuckling at his little brothers upset looks he kept throwing at the dark bluenette.

Judai and Kenzan shared a look and shrugged their shoulders as they ate their own plates as Jehu came around and ate his plate next to his brother. Johan still upset with his brother half shoved him away which made Jehu ruffle his hair playfully making him laugh more at the pout his brother now gave.

Kenzan looked at Judai. "My mom called, she says your moms not doing so well… it's worse than anyone knew." Judai's eyes widen a freaked out expression took place.

"S-She dying too isn't she…?" Kenzan couldn't look him in the eyes but gripped his arm and squeezed it.

"I'm sorry Sarge… Its stage 4.. your dad's death pushed her over the edge.."

Judai says nothing but the fork drops from his hand as he chokes out a sob. Johan's not a second late as the bluenette pulls Judai into a crushing hug both Kenzan and Jehu don't look too surprised after last night. They could tell the teal blue haired male felt close to Judai. It brought a smile to the Dino army boy's face.

Johan had his arm around Judai tightly as his hand dug in his hair holding him tightly as sobs could be heard coming from the brunette in his arms.

To Jehu's ears he could hear his brother whispering words in their language things such as it's okay to cry and I'm not letting go. Jehu slapped his brother's head in a praising fashion but an obvious blunder to the teal man when he realized he slipped back into his foreign language.

"Ju-chan, finish your breakfast?" Judai slowly let go of the emerald eyed boy, whose eyes in question were glued to Judai's face concern but care filled his expression.

Judai took his fork and started eating from the plate Johan leaving a supportive and comfort filled hand on the male's back while Kenzan reached over and squeezed his knee.

"I'm going to call the others. Want me to tell them?" Kenzan looked at Judai sideways the male barely looking at his plate as he ate.

A slow nod was his response as Kenzan finished the last of his breakfast before jumping down from the stool and exits the kitchen patting Jehu on the back as thanks for breakfast before grabbing his phone and stepping outside to make the calls.

Jehu finished shortly after collecting Kenzan's plate and washing up the dishes and putting away any left overs and since both Johan and Judai were upset at the moment there was plenty still left.

Johan looked at his brother. "Bror hva vil skje med Ju-chan hvis moren hans døde?" His brother let out a heavy sigh looking at him. His eyes left his and landed on Judai who was now picking at his plate lazily.

"Tante onkel besteforeldre... en av dem ville ta ham inn... han er 17 år han har et år før han kunne være alene." Johan bit his lip. He knew Judai would have to leave depending on where his other family lived.

"Venner av familien? han kunne bo med Kenzan..." his brother scratched his head. Normally if a friend of the family took in a child of the parents were deceased then he could stay with them if it was in a will or a last words left by the parents.

Jehu could see the hope in his brothers eyes wanting.. no wishing that Judai were to stay in Japan and not hauled off somewhere far away or on the opposite end of the planet. Jehu didn't know how it would come about.

"Judai, do you have any relatives?" The brunettes eyes widen as he held his head up and looked at the amber eyed bluenette looking back at him.

Judai's pov

My head swam heavily since Kenzan broke the news of my mom to me. I always knew something was off about her and that she seemed having trouble catching her breath or even doing something lately but he never knew it was something as horrible as something incurable.

What's gonna happen from here on out? My thoughts were barely coherent as suddenly I felt Johan's arms around me as he whispered foreign Norwegian words in my ear as I sobbed into him, not sure what I could do anymore.

Who was gonna take me in? I don't know any of my relatives and even if I knew I couldn't burden them with me for a whole year till I was able to graduate in two years.. My mom would know who to send me off too.

If I recalled right my Uncle lived in Hokkaido which wasn't far from here… but he's always away on business trips… then there was my grandparents.. but they're in France on their anniversary trip, and they live normally in Germany… maybe my cousin Yubel..? But I forgot where she lives…

Suddenly the home phone starts ringing. I forgot it was a thing. No that's a lie, I don't answer it much because mom.. or dad tend to answer it. As I was about to get up and answer it Jehu beat me to it and started speaking gruffly into the phone. "Yuki residence. Who's calling?" Jehu listened to the phone call for a second.

Jehu pointed the phone to me a second later handing it out towards me as I stool and took it. "Some cousin?" I blinked in utter surprise. I put the phone to my ear, I could feel Johan right beside me not leaving my side.

"Hello?"

"Judai Itoko! What's going on over there? Why did I get a call from the hospital about Aunt Suzuki? And Uncle Yazaki is dead?" Yubel's worried voice filled my head as once again my body is filled with distraught. Her words ring in my head about her uncle, my dad being dead hit harder from family than some random nurse at a hospital.

The phone slips through my fingers which Johan catches in seconds before it broke hitting the ground. I turn and bury my face in Johan's shirt my arms going around his neck as I felt tears start to poop in my eyes.

As much as I haven't heard from Yubel since she started college, I had no strength to speak. Johan nudged me gently as he put the phone to his ear as I whispered the name of my cousin on the phone not moving myself from him.

"Yubel-san? I'm really sorry. Judai… is in a lot of pain. He can't really talk right now." Johan rubbed my back with one hand supporting me against him. I'm just a shaking mess against Johan as I listen to his and Yubel's conversation. The phone's audio was loud enough for me to hear her side of it.

"Who the hell are you guys and why are you there?"

"My brother Jehu and I. I'm Johan, by the way. We're new neighbors to Judai. I'm his classmate on the online classes from Duel Academy."

Yubel's voice was paused for a moment to think before she spoke again this time worried resounded in her voice. "How is he…? Who's staying with him?"

"Me and my brother. Kenzan, from three doors down let us in last night after Judai broke down.." Johan rested his chin on my head letting out a heavy sigh he was holding in as he rubbed my back.

"My poor Itoko…"

Johan raised a eye brow to me in confusion. "It means cousin." Johan nodded his head smiling before responding to Yubel. "Where are you located?"

"I'm in Hokkaido. I was visiting my parents. Mom and dad don't know about the problem with aunt Suzuki and Uncle Yazaki.."

"Can you come down here to Domino?" Johan suggested knowing fully well I needed someone to stay with me that could be a legal guardian before social services started working their noses into my business and my family's problems.

"I might have to take a bus or get a car but I can be there in a day or two and take care of Uncle Yazaki's… well, last deeds. Is Judai nearby?"

Johan instead of replying puts the phone on speaker, the front door opening as Kenzan walks in to hear the conversation. "Speakers on Yubel-san." He speaks up at last having given Kenzan a look as if to say stay quiet.

"Judai, I'm so sorry you had to be alone during this. I'm gonna get my car filled up my bag packed and i'll be on the road soon. I'll be there by tomorrow evening, if I get on the road tonight."

I bit my lip as I opened my mouth to speak to my cousin. "Be safe Yubel… I'll see you soon." I could hear a smile in my cousin's voice after finally hearing me speak.

"You take care too. Eat and get your mind off everything. I'll take care of Aunt Suzuki, okay? And I'll handle Uncle Yazaki's last deeds."

I hung up the phone sighing as I pry myself from Johan to look at Kenzan. He had his hands on his waist sighing. "The others..?" I look at him almost blankly, my emotions drained and I was feeling numb.

"They're gonna call tonight. You better answer if you know what's good for you. That's from Manjoume, Ryo and Edo by the way. Fubuki Sho and Asuka were more caring.." Kenzan chuckles slightly. He ruffles his braided back hair in his bandana just a bit in awkwardness. "So Yubel is coming?" He dropped his hand and gestured to the phone in Johan's still occupied hand.

Johan nodded before replacing the phone on the receiver before turning towards Kenzan with me in tow. "Ju-Chan let's get you relaxed on the couch okay."

I nodded lightly as he walks over to the large couch not needing much effort to bring me along, my body was so heavy from the sadness in my chest.

He sat down first before pulling me down next to him. He took the remote from the stand and clicked the tv on. "Movie?" Johan's emerald eyes looked down at me as I lifted my head to meet his a small smile on my face.

"Okay.." Johan pulled me against him so that my head was flushed against his chest and under his chin as he gently rubbed my shoulder and arm. I blushed lightly at his comforting gesture as Johan puts on a old mystery movie that seemed more funny than it was supposed to be.

Nobody's pov

Kenzan glanced at Jehu who went back to cleaning up the dishes before Kenzan leaned over the counter in a hush voice whispering. "Is your brother… ya know on the Spectrum..?" Jehu looked at the tanned male in confusion blinking his eyes with an eyebrow raised.

"Y-ya know… Is he still in the closet?" Jehu had a slight trouble understanding his meaning so he gestured to the male for another example.

Kenzan slapped his palm to his face getting flustered his face turning lightly pink in embarrassment. "Does he… like guys?" He hissed out trying not to catch the two males attention just nearby.

Jehu looked up from the dishes as he put them in on the drying rack. "He can be whatever he wants to be… and right now Judai makes him the most happy i've seen him in years."

Kenzan and Jehu both looked at the two on the couch both having a quiet conversation about the movie playing on the tv. "Johan was a shy child growing up. Mother and father loved him dearly but were always busy people. He didn't have many friends either… because of his shyness. Something about Judai… meeting him on the front lawn the other day, made Johan open up. So, if he's gay… I pray to a god listening that Judai is the same."

Kenzan turned to Jehu a smile twitching on his face. "Judai is wonderful. No doubt he'll keep Johan's feelings first." This made Jehu perk up a smile framing his ivory face as he watched his little brother with delight.

'If mom and dad could see you right now Johan… they'd be proud of you for how your helping someone else going through the same trauma you just experienced…' Jehu smiled lightly resting his chin on his hand.
