Author's Note: Update! :) Prompt: Fluffy one-shot about Jack meeting Andy's family at the picnic. Set in season 4 where my Jandy head cannon exists, and so Jack is her husband in this situation, not Robert. (Spoiler: it's never going to be Robert LOL). Sorry this took so long and I hope you like it, please forgive me! :) Xx
She was nervous. She wouldn't lie. It would be hard, integrating herself back into the family without her Papi and the newfound information she'd discovered about Elena, and how she was, well, basically in hiding for the past twenty years. Not dead. It had been…a lot to process. Still was, and that, on top of her dad's death and Ryan's, it felt…unfair.
She felt justified in thinking that, wasn't ashamed of it, but she was a little ashamed of the fact that she was most nervous to see her family because they would be the ties to mother, the memories of her, the good ones, that she hadn't thought about in so long.
They were all good memories and that's almost what made this worse. Because now, now, when she sees her Tia and Tio and her cousin Michelle, sweet, loveable, Michelle, she'll be thinking about how her mother was alive, and all of the deceit, the pain, the betrayal, from her, somehow, it would all be intertwined. Wouldn't it?
She was so glad that she had Jack with her today; he'd insisted on taking the day off to be there for moral support, and normally, she would shrug him off, normally, she would be fine to go at things like this alone, but she's changed in these past few months; she's realized that needing people, it doesn't make her weak, it actually makes her courageous because in self-awareness, there's courage. That sounded like a line straight out of therapy, and, hell, maybe it was, but hell if she cared. It helps.
Just like his hand on her back, rubbing in slow, tender, circles, working at the knots in her shoulders. It was helping. It was helping very much.
"Don't stop…. that feels so good…oh…"
She sighed, relaxing further into his touch and he chuckled, pulling a little at her hair. She nearly moaned then, too, but this time for a totally different reason.
"Hm... give me something you could say during sex and getting a massage…" he teased her, and she rolled her eyes as he nipped at her neck.
"You're an idiot," she said to him and he just continued to kiss her favorite spot. It wasn't so funny anymore.
"Are you ready to go?"
"Not if you keep kissing my neck like that. I'll never want to leave this car."
They were parked behind a couple rows so there was no chance of her family seeing them like this, so she wasn't worried. She was worried though, that she quite literally might never leave this car. Jack Gibson can be quite intoxicating when he wants to be.
He stopped kissing her then, put his arm around her shoulders and hugged her to him from the driver's seat. "Everything is going to be great, baby. I promise. Everybody loves me."
"It's not you I'm worried about though…" She sighed again, twirled her hair in between her fingers. "What if – what if they remembered me differently?"
He smiled at her reassuringly. "I didn't. So they won't either." A chaste kiss. "Okay? You're kind of impossible to forget."
"Okay. I'll believe that. For now."
"It's true," he said to her, and undid his seatbelt, as well as hers. "Ready?"
"Yeah. We shouldn't keep them waiting long."
Andy got out of the car behind him and when her family saw her approaching they had on beaming smiles.
"Mija, oh, it's so good to see you!" Her Tia Sandra enveloped her in an embrace, and then so did her Tio.
"She's right, Andrea. It has been much too long. Never this long again, yeah?"
Andy nodded against his shoulder, as he kissed her temple in a familial sort of way that he hadn't been able to since she was nine years old.
Michelle was last because it is what they always say – best for last, and she hugged her cousin, tight, and then drew back from her.
She gestured to Jack standing there beside her. "Is this your lucky guy?"
He smiled and went to shake Michelle's hand and as he did, she blushed. "I'm the lucky one."
"Shut up," Jack murmured good naturedly into her ear as he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his side. "You know it's the other way around."
"So," Michelle clapped her hands together. Between the three of them, they've had a few drinks and both Jack and her cousin were flushed and happy. She was happy, but notably sober, but only she knew the reason for that. "Kids. When are we thinking – two, three months? Six? A year?"
Andy laughed quietly. She was a little embarrassed by the question, was nervous how Jack was going to react. He was her fiancé (again – or now because she hadn't technically given him an answer the last time, she kind of just dumped him and then used him and then – well, the whole thing was awkward, and she preferred not to relive it). They were well on that track, with neither of them (unfortunately) getting any younger. She made the choice and thought now was as good a time as any to let the secret slip.
She looked to Jack, who had, to her surprise, already been looking at her; it touched her heart knowing that he wanted her to be the one to answer that question, to decide, because he was, after all, a firm believer in her body, her time. It wasn't so much her choice, but that was never something they had to talk about. They both wanted children, fully and without regret.
"What about now?"
He looked stunned which made her laugh, and then he was laughing, and poor, sweet Michelle was still confused, but then as she watched Jack grab her face and kiss her square on the mouth, something clicked for her poor cousin. The whole thing was kind of funny, especially the tone to her voice, finding humor in her own ignorance. It's why Andy loved her so much. She was never too hard on herself, some quality that Andy envied big.
"You're pregnant." Jack breathed out, his hands making a small shape on her stomach. "Baby, I can't believe it. We're doing this. We're really doing this?"
She grinned at him, touched his stubble delicately with her thumb and forefinger before gripping his chin in her hand as she leaned in to kiss him.
"We're really doing this, baby. And there's nobody else I would rather have by my side. I love you."
"Holy shit, Andy, I love you so much."
"Oh my gosh, I love the both of you," Michelle squealed, pulling them both to her for half of a family hug.
Her Tia and Tio heard the commotion and, once filled in, joined the good news celebration, and inserted themselves into the hug between her and Jack. It was perfect. Nothing could be more perfect than this moment, right here.
Author's Note: So? Did I do the prompt justice? :) Quick thing to note: If any of you also watch 9-1-1 I have written some Madney (Maddie/Chimney) fics on my Archive of Our Own account (same user as FF). Feel free to check them out. :) It would mean a lot if you watch the show. :)
Am I the only one who feels like Station 19 is going downhill? I personally don't love politics and real-world issues, although important and need to be talked about, in my TV shows. There's a platform and a place and just my opinion but I'm really not liking this season so far between COVID and all of the BLM emphasis - again it's an important issue/topic and I am doing nothing to discount that I just...anyways. We barely see Jack and Andy interact (ever). It's like they don't even know each other anymore...she's all about Robert, which I get he's her husband but this is a safe space for Robert Sullivan slander so lol
Anyways, anything Jandy-related you are dying to see? Until next time! Xx
