Happy new year's everyone! That's right, i'm still alive! Let's not waste any time as we dive right into the chapter!

As the laughter subsided, Xavier made the last of the introductions. "Wanda, I would like to introduce you to Scott Summers." he said while gesturing to the young man with red sunglasses.

"Hi." He said as he shook hands with Wanda. Wanda was still nervous, but not as much as before. She looked at Scott's glasses in confusion. Seeing where she was looking, Scott smiled before pointing to his glasses. "If you're wondering about the glasses, just so you know, they help to keep my powers in check."

"Oh." Wanda responded. Not really sure what else to say. Seeing her uncertainty, Laura put her left hand on Wanda's shoulder, getting her attention, while gesturing to her father with her other hand. "And that's my dad." she said with a smile.

"Name's Logan." he said with his arms crossed and a hard gaze aimed at Wanda, which made her step back in fear a little.

Laura put her whole arm around Wanda and said, "Don't let his tough guy act fool you. By dad's a real softie when you get to know him." While giving a smirk to her father.

"Don't push it kid." Logan said with an amused expression, making the others laugh once again.

"Well," Xavier said after everyone calmed down. "I need to take care of some things in my office. Would you three like to show Wanda around?" he asked Scott, Jean and Laura.

"Of course, professor." Laura said while she grabbed ahold of Wanda's arm and started dragging her out of the bathroom, followed by Scott and Jean.

"Just don't break anything!" Logan called once the children were out of sight.

"We won't!" came Laura's reply.

After the children had gone, Xavier, Logan and Ororo looked at each other with grave expressions.

"So that was Wanda?" Logan asked rhetorically before looking at his feet and feeling his anger rise. "To think that someone would throw away their own child like that is just... inexcusable!" he finished while tightening his knuckles, his claws popping out at the same time.

"I know." Xavier said grimly. He knew Erik didn't share the same views as him, but to think that he would just leave his own daughter in an asylum, makes one wonder how far his old friend has fallen.

"But why would someone do that?" Ororo questioned. "If Erik really wants to ensure mutant superiority, why would he lock away his own daughter?" Although she brought up a good point, she had a scowl on her face, showing that she was also mad about what Erik had done.

"I think it's because Wanda has a such a hard time controlling her powers." Xavier said, causing Logan and Ororo to look at him in confusion. "Erik would have needed to be there for Wanda to help control her powers. While I'm not sure, I believe Erik has some other work to deal with which he finds more worth his time than caring for Wanda."

"So instead of helping his own child from becoming a living bomb, he tosses her in a cell and throws away the key." Logan concluded angerly.

"It's the only reason I can come up with." Xavier said before looking towards Ororo and Logan "Regardless, the fact is he locked Wanda away in that place and, in her eyes, abandoned her. She clearly needs help to move on from her ordeal."

Logan and Ororo glanced at each other, both nodding in agreement. No matter how long it takes, they were all going help Wanda get over her trauma. No child should have to suffer the way she had.

At Wanda's request, the four children had walked out in the backyard. She stood on grass, arms outstretched and eyes closed as she took in the sun's warm rays, a content smile on her face.

Jean, Scott and Laura stood back and looked at Wanda. Laura glanced at her two friends before whispering, "She really likes the sun huh?"

"If you had been locked up for a month in a room with no way out, wouldn't you try to get sunlight at any given chance?" Jean whispered back.

"Good point." Laura admitted, a bit ashamed for asking that question.

After a few moments, Wanda opened her eyes and walked back to the others. She looked at the three other mutants nervously. Jean, Scott and Laura were quiet, wondering who would break the awkward silence.

Eventually, Laura decided to do just that. "So... umm... what are your powers?" She asked Wanda, who looked up at her before looking down at the ground, lost in thought. After a few moments she said, "I'm... not sure."

Laura and the others looked at each other in confusion before turning back to Wanda. "What do you mean you're not sure?"

Wanda looked down at her hands and said, "I mean I'm not sure what exactly happens. Whenever I get scarred or angry, my hands glow blue and everything around me goes crazy. Everything shakes, lights flicker and sometimes stuff floats in the air." She clenched her fists and closed her eyes in pain at the memories that flashed before her eyes. "Some of the 'doctors' that looked after me even called me a witch."

"Yeah well, we know that's not true." Came Jean's voice, causing Wanda to look up at her. Jean smiled and gestured to herself and her friends. "Professor Xavier helped us all control our powers." Laura fake coughed into her hand. Jean gave her a look and said "Well, he helped me and Scott anyway. If he could help us, he will definitely be able to help you as well."

"You think he can?" Wanda asked hopefully.

Scott smiled and said, "Of course." before gesturing to his sunglasses. "If the professor hadn't helped me with my eye beams, I don't know where I would be today."

Wanda raised an eyebrow. "Eye beams?"

Scott scratched his head while Jean explained, "That's his power. Scott can project a powerful beam of concussive, ruby-colored force from his eyes."

Scott looked down at his feet and frowned. "Problem is I can't control it. Ever since my powers emerged, I haven't been able to turn it off. The only time I can turn it off is if I shut my eyes. The only reason I can see at all right now is because of these shades."

"Oh. I'm sorry." Wanda replied in understanding, knowing herself what it's like to be unable to control her powers.

Scott smiled said, "Thanks." Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder and looked to his right to see Jean smiling at him, hoping to comfort him. The two stared at each other for a while, almost seeming oblivious to the world around them.

Wanda glanced questioningly at Laura, who smirked at her before fake coughing into her hand. Jean and Scott soon realized that they had been staring at each other and broke apart awkwardly.

"Anyway..." Laura said, hoping to move on. "Here's my power." She continued before popping out her claws in both hands, scaring Wanda who gave a short scream and stepped back instinctively.

"Hey, hey! Relax..." Laura tried to calm her down before showing of her claws. "See, it's okay."

Wanda was a bit scared at seeing claws pop out of the girls' hands (not to mention the fact that she's had to deal with a lot of sharp objects back at the asylum) but found herself slightly curious as well.

"Doesn't it hurt?" Wanda asked.

Laura shrugged "Nah, not really." she said before pointing her knuckles at Wanda (who stepped back a little) before retracting them. "I heal pretty fast." Wanda examined Laura's knuckles, expecting to see some kind of wound. But to her surprise, it looked completely fine.

"How...?" Wanda wondered.

Laura smirked and explained "I have a healing factor. I can from pretty much any wound instantly. Much faster than an ordinary human. My dad has the same powers as me." she finished proudly.

Scott and Jean rolled their eyes at Laura's attempt to show off. Before she could brag some more, Jean intervened. "Laura, please calm yourself."

Laura rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever you say 'Little Miss Perfect'."

Scott chuckled a little at Laura's nickname for Jean, but stopped when he noticed Jean's glare and coughed into his hand. Laura only smirked at

Wanda, sensing the tension in the air, attempted to change the subject. "So, umm... Jean, what are your powers."

Jean did a complete one-eighty and went from glaring at Scott to smiling brightly at Wanda.

"Oh, my power is telekinesis." She said before stretching out her hand and lifting a few small rocks of the ground. "At first, I couldn't lift more than small objects, but I've been training to be able to lift larger objects as well."

"Oh, and she can read minds too." Laura chimed in.

Wanda's eyes widened. "You mean like the Professor?"

Jean dropped the rocks onto the ground and said, "Well, yes, but I'm not as good as him." Jean gestured to everyone and said, "that's basically our powers."

"But wait, what about Ororo? What are her powers?" Wanda asked.

"Oh, she can control the weather." Laura said nonchalantly, as if it was no big deal to her. Wanda's shocked looked made the rest of them chuckle a little before Scott suggested, "How about we head inside?"

Wanda nodded, still trying to wrap her head around everything she had learned, before they all walked back inside.

Later that night

It was currently night time at the institute. After having eaten dinner, Wanda was shown to her room. Wanda was amazed at the sheer size of it and she was especially happy to be lying on an actual bed for the first time in a month.

Currently, Wanda was lying in bed asleep, although it wasn't a peaceful sleep. She kept tossing and turning as if in pain. She was experiencing nightmares.

She was back in the room, nothing had changed. She was still trapped in the darkness all alone. Wanda looked up and saw her father in the door opening, looking just the same as when she last saw him. She reached out for him, her eyes pleading for him to help her, but he just looked at her passively before turning around and walking away. After he walked away, several figures she couldn't make out appeared. They reached out towards her and tried to grab her, all the while calling her things like 'freak' and 'witch', things the doctors had called her back at the asylum.

She pushed out her hands, shouting "Leave me alone!"

Meanwhile, Logan was still up and about. Right now, he was in the kitchen having a beer, thinking about the day's events. While he had never meet Magneto face to face, if and when Logan finally does meet him, he would gut him without hesitation. The man had put his own daughter in an asylum for no reason other than he didn't have the time to look after her.

"I swear I'm going to make that man pay if it's the last thing I do!" He thought to himself as he glared down at his beer can.

Before he could take another swig of his beer, the mansion started shaking. Since this hadn't happened before, he knew it had to be related to Wanda. Quickly butting down his beer, he dashed out of the kitchen towards Wanda's room. When he got there, he could smell fear emanating from the room.

Quickly throwing the door open, Logan was shocked at the scene in front of him. Wanda was clearly having a nightmare and her powers must be going out of control because of it. Aside from the shaking, the lights were turning on and off and her bed was jumping about like something out of a horror movie.

Logan moved quickly to her side and tried shaking her awake. "Kid, wake up, wake up!"

Wanda awoke with a scream, but she was still struggling, thinking she was still at the asylum and that the hands on her body was one of the guards. Logan managed to catch her wrists in his strong grip.

"Kid, it's okay. It's me, Logan. You're safe. It was just a dream." he said loudly, causing her to calm down. Logan released his grip and turned on the lamp by her bed, blinding her for a minute. In the lamps light, he was clearly able to see the tears in her eyes and the frightened look on her face.

"What has this kid been through?" Logan thought to himself. Wanda looked so scared and vulnerable sitting there in front of him. A sight that reminded him of that night several years ago when Laura came in to his bedroom after she had a nightmare of her own.

"Hey... it's okay. You're alright." Logan said gently and slowly placed an arm around her. She flinched at first but relaxed after seeing that he wasn't going to hurt her.

"I... I was back in the room... in the darkness... and... they came for me... again." Wanda broke down into tears. Logan hugged the girl close to him, once again feeling a sense of Déjà vu. "I don't want to go back! Please don't make me go back there!" she shouted as she cried her heart out.

"It's alright. No one's going to put you back there ever again... and you know why?" She stopped crying a little and looked up into his face, her eyes red and puffy, tears all over her cheeks, and her lip was trembling. "Because I'll make sure no one ever does."

"We both do." came a voice from the door, who revealed herself as Laura, having been woken up by all the shaking. She smiled warmly at Wanda as she walked up to her bed and wrapped her arms around the broken girl. Wanda felt strangely comforted by the father and daughter. "Thank you." She said weakly due to the stress she was under.

After a few minutes, Wanda fell asleep and Logan tucked her in and turned off the lamp before he and Laura walked out of the room. After closing the door to her room, Laura asked, "Do you think she will be fine?"

"Not right away." replied Logan. "But with some time, yes, I think she will." After taking a short look at the door, Laura told her dad that she was going back to bed. After she had left, Logan heard Xavier's voice in his head. "Logan. How is Wanda?"

"She's fine for now. But we had best get ready for a few sleepless nights in the coming future. She's had it rough." Logan thought, knowing Xavier can hear him.

"I know. We'll all have to adjust, not just Wanda."

"Yeah, but that can wait until tomorrow. I'm heading to bed, good night, Chuck."

"I'll see you in the morning Logan." Xavier finished. Logan looked at the door before walking away to his own room, wondering how the future would look now.

Unknown to anyone at the institute, someone had witnessed the events that had transpired. A raven was sitting on the windowsill outside Wanda's room. After Logan and Laura left the room, it flew away from the institute towards some of the other buildings in town. Eventually, it found a small alley between some buildings where it landed and scanned its surroundings for any people. When it didn't see anyone else, it transformed into a humanoid shape. The person was clearly female, but she was not human as she had bright blue skin and completely yellow eyes with black pupils. She had red hair cut to her shoulders, extending slightly in the back and was wearing a sleeveless white dress with a high neck, purple skinsuit under her dress, thigh-high white boots, and white gloves which reached nearly to her shoulders without covering her fingers.

"So, Magneto's daughter is currently being taken care of by Xavier." The woman thought to herself as she looked towards the institute. "He's not going to be happy about this. But then again, what did he think would happen when he threw her away like that?" The woman sighed sadly. "Not like you were any better." She thought as she remembered her own failure as a parent. Shaking her head to get rid of these thoughts, she knew she had to report this development to Magneto as soon as possible. She transformed once again into a raven and flew off into night.
