King of the Ring Finals

Ced or AJ Styles vs Ricochet or Randy Orton

The past weekend for Cedric had been a bit of a whirlwind. For one, it went back fast considering that Friday, he had his match with Kane to advance to the Semi-Finals of the tournament. And as soon as SmackDown ended, he hopped on a plane and took a flight home to be with his fiancée and his kid. The time with them was short but well-spent giving him the break he needed to refocus his attention. He hopped on a plane early this morning and flew out to Atlanta for the King of the Ring event and that was it. The rest was history.

Ced had a chance to cement his spot at SummerSlam and earn an Intercontinental title match and go ahead and cross something off his list of career goals. Winning the tournament was all he needed to make sure he was going to be a hall of famer by the time he was ready to hang it all up.

Currently he was walking around the back clad in his purple ring trunks with his ring name and logo in a yellow and white color scheme. It was supposed to represent the popular King of the Ring colors. He was wearing black knee pads and boots with black tape on both of his wrist. He wore his brand-new shirt that was gonna be released today after the event. It was a black shirt with King in the center in white bold letters with a colon next to it with his ring name next to it. Luckily for him, he had gotten a few extra shirts to send to his family and friends. Kala had even sent him a picture with little baby CJ in a shirt.

At the end of the day, that's who it's all for. Everything he did in the past, everything he does today, everything he does in the future is to make a great legacy. A legacy that his son could be proud of.

"Nice shirt but it's a little bit too early for a celebration, don't you think?" Ced heard making him stop in his tracks and turn around with a smirk on his face to see the man who was sort of a mentor to him, Paul Levesque AKA Triple H.

"Nope. I don't think it's too early. Besides weren't you the one who approved this shirt to be put in store?"

"It was really more so Vince but I like it. You busy right now?"

"Nope, not really. Just walking around trying to clear my head a bit. What do you need?"

"I want to talk to you about something. Something that you can't tell anyone about. Can I trust you with that?"

"Of course."

"Alright, so you know of course 'Taker retired at WrestleMania."

"Yeah, but that's no secret, everybody knows that." Paul chuckled as he shook his head before he placed a hand on Ced's shoulder.

"That's not the point. Everyone knows I've been the business for a long, long time. And one thing I was told: was that I would know and I would feel when it was time to hang it up and retire. I'm telling you because I got a few more matches in the tank. And I want one of those matches to be with you, sometime down the line. So, what do you think about sometime down the line we get Ced vs Triple H?"

Cedric was speechless which was something that didn't happen often. Ced vs Triple H. That was a dream match of Ced's since even before he became a wrestler.

"Hell yes."

"Good, we'll start to sit down and have some meetings when we get a bit closer to 'Mania but until then just keep it a secret. Now you got about 10 minutes till your match so I'm gonna leave you alone. Good luck." Paul said as he tapped Cedric on the shoulder before he walked away leaving Cedric there with the biggest smile on his face.

And while the future was on his mind, he needed the present to become the center of thought. Because AJ Styles was an opponent that you needed to be 100% against and fully mentally prepared to face.

The WWE Universe cheered as they heard the music of Ced. Ced walked out onto the stage hearing the cheers from the fans as the lights in the arena were going around in a frenzy of different colors.

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is a Semi-Finals match in the 2020 King of the Ring tournament. Introducing first, making his way to the ring, from Charlotte, North Carolina. Weighing in at 250 Pounds. Ced!"

Ced looked up from the stage floor and spit out his water in the form of a mist before he started making his way down the ramp with a frown. Once he reached the ringside area, he looked around at the fans. He saw a group of fans holding various signs for him making him smirk before he walked around to the steps and ran up them entering the ring. He made a beeline to the corner and stepped up onto the middle turnbuckle doing his pose as he once again got a pop from the crowd. He took off his t-shirt throwing it off to the fans while his music faded off into the background.

"Phenomenal" by $CFO

The lights in the arena had transitioned into a blue hue as "The Phenomenal One" walked onto the stage with a hood on his head. He walked to the center of the stage crouching down as the fans gave him a mixed reaction which was mostly cheers. He popped back up to his feet taking off his hood before stretching his arms out as looked around the arena.

"And his opponent, making his way to the ring, from Gainesville, Georgia. Weighing in at 218 Pounds. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles!"

AJ looked around the arena as he got a mixed reaction from the WWE Universe. He looked around the arena before he started to walk down the ramp locking eyes with his opponent. "The Phenomenal One" walked around to the steel steps, running up the steps and onto the ring apron. He entered the ring and stretching his arms out as he looked into the crowd before putting his gloves together forming his P1 symbol on his gloves. AJ Styles turned around as his music faded off into the background while he took off his vest throwing it off to the ring crew on the outside.

The referee called for the bell signaling for the match to begin.

Ding-Ding-Ding!

Ced walked towards the center of the ring holding his hand out for AJ Styles to shake as a sign of mutual respect and sportsmanship. AJ smirked as he walked towards the center of the ring shakings hands with Ced getting a pop from the crowd as the two nodded before breaking the handshake and backing up into their corner.

The two superstars circled around the ring before locking it up in a collar elbow tie up. The two battled for dominance in the test of strength with Ced getting the advantage pushing AJ Styles into the corner. Ced held AJ there in the corner applying pressure as the referee counted to 4 making him release the hold. The former Intercontinental Champion backed up to the center of the ring motioning for AJ Styles to bring it. AJ came out of the corner and immediately locked it back up with Ced in the center of the ring with Ced once more getting the advantage transitioning the hold into a side headlock wrenching down on the head. AJ Styles backed Ced up to the ropes and pushed him off into the ropes on the opposite side of the ring. Ced came off the ropes hitting AJ Styles with a shoulder block sending him down to the mat. AJ Styles popped up to his feet and attempted to hit Ced with a dropkick but Ced held onto the ropes, letting AJ crash on his back.

AJ Styles kipped up to his feet as Ced came off the ropes swinging with a right hook. "The Phenomenal One" ducked it and waited as Ced turned around and took him down with a side-headlock takedown. AJ wrenched on the head applying pressure. Ced's shoulders were down.

AJ Styles took this opportunity and ran to the ropes as if he were going for an outside dive causing Ced to quickly move out of the way but AJ had other plans and hopped over the top rope standing on the apron.

Ced had his back to AJ Styles but when he turned around, he was caught with a sliding knee off the apron from AJ Styles making him stumble back a bit only to be caught with a springboard moonsault press off the top knocking both men off their feet. AJ Styles was the first to rise to his feet and taunted trying to draw a pop from the crowd which he did. The fans cheered as AJ grabbed Ced dragging him up to his feet. AJ dragged Ced over to the ring apron, slamming him face-first into the hard-side of the apron before throwing his body off into the ring breaking the referee's count at 4.

AJ climbed up onto the ring apron waiting for Ced to rise up to his feet. Ced turned around as AJ jumped onto the top rope and flew towards Ced looking for a springboard forearm but Ced quickly moved out of the way causing AJ to land on his on his feet and roll through before turning around getting caught with a back elbow to the jaw knocking him down to the canvas. AJ with a hand on his jaw crawled over to the corner using it to pull himself up as Ced made his way over to AJ hitting him with a series of right hands causing him to slouch in the corner. Ced followed up with a series of stomps to the abdomen, stomping a mudhole into "The Phenomenal One" until the referee pulled him off.

"Young Simba" wasn't taking any chances and grabbed AJ lifting him up to his feet. Ced whipped AJ hard into the corner causing AJ to fall off his feet as he groaned in pain. "Young Simba" looked around the arena at the fans before walking over to AJ and dropping an elbow on the spine looking to go after the midsection of "The Phenomenal One". Ced dragged AJ by his hair up to a vertical base. He set AJ up in a vertical suplex position lifting him up and dropping him on his midsection on the ropes. AJ groaned in pain as Ced went for the cover.

1, AJ quickly grabbed a hold of the ropes breaking the count. AJ was caught with a right hand causing him to slouch down in the corner followed by a stomp to the midsection making him fall to the canvas. Ced placed his knee into the throat of AJ. AJ groaned as he struggled for his breath while the referee started his count.

Once he reached 4, AJ was released as Ced backed up to the center of the ring panting for his breath while the fans cheered. Ced was in control of the match keeping a slow pace, trying to slow down "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles who had a explosive array of High-Flying offense. AJ used the ropes in the corner to pull himself up to his feet. Ced walked towards AJ and clocked him in his jaw with a right hand. "Young Simba" grabbed at AJ dragging to the next corner and smashed his face into the turnbuckle pad and looked to mount some more offense but AJ had another thing coming and instead caught Ced with a stiff kick to the knee. Ced grunted as he came out of the corner. Ced was caught with another stiff kick to the knee making him stumble into the corner. AJ quickly walked over to Ced in the corner and attempted to whip him into the opposite corner but Ced reversed it sending AJ into the corner.

Ced tried to shake the slight pain coming form his knee and ran towards AJ. AJ attempted to kick Ced in the gut but Ced caught the leg and transitioned it into a T-Bone Suplex throwing him half-way across the ring. AJ rolled out of the ring getting some space from his opponent. Ced adjusted his knee pads and stepped out of the ring grabbing AJ making him rise up to his feet. The former Intercontinental Champion dragged AJ over to the barricade lifting him up and dropping him spine-first with a back-suplex. AJ groaned out in pain as he placed a hand on his spine while his opponent looked around at the crowd with a smirk on his face, panting for his breath.

Ced bent down grabbing Styles and lifting him up to his feet, throwing him into the ring. The former Intercontinental Champion ran up the steps onto the apron and looked around at the crowd, stepping in between the top and middle rope. AJ quickly recovered and caught Ced with a chop block to the leg making the larger, younger man fall to the mat. AJ backed up into the corner as he looked down at Ced seeing the young man clutch his knee in pain. AJ grabbed Ced's leg raising it up to drop an elbow onto the knee working on the leg of the young man. Just like Ced was doing earlier, AJ was now targeting a body part and this time it was the leg. Possibly looking to limit his strength. AJ dragged Ced to the center of the ring of the ring and dropped another elbow on the knee making Ced curse out in pain. AJ once more dropped the elbow on the knee and this time, held the knee twisting as he continued the abuse on the knee of Ced.

AJ twisted at the knee as Ced groaned in pain while the referee checked if Ced wanted to submit. Ced reached his arm out, reaching for the ropes but the ropes were too far away. He looked down at AJ and grabbed the former World Champion by the hair striking him with a right hand. He gripped AJ's hair once more and clocked him with another right hand breaking the grip on the submission. Ced crawled towards the ropes feeling the pain in his knees as he slowly used the ropes to pull himself to a vertical base. AJ stood up to his feet and ran towards Ced looking for a clothesline but Ced ducked it and ran to the ropes, albeit a tad slower. When Ced rebounded off the ropes he was caught by AJ with a springboard moonsault off the ropes transitioned into a inverted DDT. AJ with the hook of the leg.

2, Ced kicked out prominently at 2. AJ ran a hand through his hair as he looked around at the fans. Ced stared up at the ceiling as he panted for his breath as AJ Styles rose up to his feet. AJ bent down grabbing Ced by the head and neck making him rise to his feet. AJ kicked Ced in the knee making him drop down to his knees in pain before he locked on a sleeper hold looking to wear Ced down. Ced frantically waved his arms around as AJ's arms were wrapped tightly around the throat making him struggle for his breath. The crowd was now hushed as AJ had the submission locked on. AJ wrenched in as Ced struggled while seemingly the life was gone from his body. The referee walked towards Ced raising his arm attempting to let it free fall but Ced had too much fight in him and raised his arm in defiance as the crowd cheered. AJ tried to tighten the hold on Ced but Ced rose up to his feet and picked AJ up dropping him flat on his back with a back suplex.

Ced reached down clutching his knee as he felt pain once again in his knee. He had to shake the cob webs off and keep fighting. So far, their match was currently at the 18-minute mark and they had to remember, the winner of this match still had a whole 'nother match awaiting them at the end of the night.

Both men slowly rose to their feet with AJ leaning up on the ropes and Ced standing in the center of the ring. AJ came running towards Ced to be taken down with a clothesline. AJ popped right back up and was taken down with another clothesline. Right back up took a swing at Ced only for Ced to duck it and stand behind AJ waiting for him to turn around to take him with a powerslam.

"Come on!" Ced shouted as he rose to his feet while the fans cheered. Ced backed up into the corner looking for his patented spear. A move that had helped him become a 2-time Intercontinental Champion and maybe, a soon to be 3-time Intercontinental Champion.

AJ Styles slowly rose up to his feet and turned around facing Ced causing the young star to run towards him looking for a spear but AJ reversed into a small package.

AJ was the first to reach his feet and walked over to Ced who was still grounded on the mat in pain. AJ bent down trying to grab Ced and lift him up but Ced managed to get AJ down into a small-package surprising AJ.

Ding-Ding-Ding!

"Here is your winner: Ced!" The WWE Universe cheered loudly as Ced's music hit the PA system while he quickly rolled out of the ring after stealing a quick victory from AJ Styles which now meant he was heading to the main event to face either Ricochet or Randy Orton. Ced panted for his breath as he winced in pain feeling the pain in his right knee. AJ Styles locked eyes with Ced shaking his head talking trash. Ced raised his arms in victory as he slowly walked up the ramp while AJ frustratedly kicked the turnbuckle in the ring.

(!)-(!)-(!)-(!)

Cedric was currently in the medic room getting his right knee taped for his match later on tonight. The Randy and Ricochet match was currently on the TV in the medic room. In the match, Ricochet had taken a beaten especially on the abdomen, perhaps Randy was trying to take Ricochet's patented 630 Senton out of his arsenal. Currently in the ring, Randy Orton was leaning on the ropes as Ricochet was leaning the corner groggily struggling to stand on his feet. Ricochet stumbled out of the corner with a hand of his abdomen. Orton ran towards Ricochet jumping up looking for an RKO but Ricochet pushed Randy Orton away. Orton hit the ropes and when he rebounded off the ropes he was caught with a Recoil (Running Single Knee Facebreaker) that sent Orton down to the mat. Ricochet covered Orton as the referee counted. 1,2,3. The match was over and it was final the main event of King of the Ring was Ced and Ricochet once again. Another classic to be added to their great rivalry.

Cedric smirked as he watched Ricochet celebrate in the ring. He heard his phone ring making him turn his head to see Kala's name on his screen. He quickly swiped the button and held the phone up to his ear answering the phone.

"Hey baby."

"Hey baby, I saw your match with AJ, are you okay? How's your knee?"

"There's a little pain in my knee but after I finish this match with Ricochet, I'm gonna ice up and try to ease the pain a bit."

"Alright just be careful tonight. I don't want to have to watch you get surgery."

"Trust me, you won't. Now how's my little man-man doing?" Kala chuckled hearing the nickname that Cedric insinsted on calling their son.

"He's fine. He's just playing. We're sitting here in the living room. I got the Pay-Per-View on the TV in the front. I got to say those trunks look good on you."

"Be honest, you were checking me out the whole time, weren't you?"

"You know I was. It's my right as your future wife to be able to check you out." Cedric chuckled shaking his head.

"Hey, I'm gonna call you back after the show. I love you."

"I love you too."

"And stop checking out my butt." Ced said hearing Kala giggled on the other side of the line before hanging up. The smile soon faded off his face as he looked up and let out a deep breath before looking down at his right knee that was taped up. The knee was a source of worry for Cedric and heading into a match that could definetly put him a high chance of injury, played a bit of worry in Cedric's mind but the want, the need to win this tournament outweighed that worry.

Cedric exhaled and stood up feeling a stinging sensation in his knee making him wince in pain before he limped out of the medic room and on his way to the locker room.

The fans cheered as they heard Ced's music for the second time tonight for the main event match tonight against a longtime friend and rival, Ricochet. Ced walked out onto the stage dressed in the same threads from earlier tonight with the new addition of white tape around his right knee. He looked around at the fans before he started walking down the ramp slowly with a frown on his face. Ced entered the ring with a frown on his face, looking around at the crowd as he then walked over to the corner and stood there waiting for his opponent.

"One and Only" Hits

The WWE Universe cheered loudly as they heard Ricochet's music hit the PA System. Ricochet walked onto the stage with a smile on his face despite his abdomen being heavily taped with white tape. As the lights usually went around in their array of lights, Ricochet raised his hand up in the air before he then let it fall down to his side before he threw a fist into the air as the lights went to their normal color. He looked around the arena before his gaze set on his opponent in the ring. The smile faded off his face as he walked down the ramp with a hand on his abdomen before he ran into the ring sliding under the bottom rope and then did his usual theatrics in the ring landing in a hero like position while his opponent stared a hole damn near into his soul.

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is the finals of the 2020 King of the Ring tournament. Introducing first, from Charlotte, North Carolina. Weighing in at 250 Pounds. Ced!" Greg Hamilton announced as Ced walked towards the center of the ring looking at Ricochet.

"And his opponent, from Paducah, Kentucky. Weighing in at 207 Pounds. Ricochet." The fans cheered as Ricochet walked towards the center of the ring staring into Ced's eyes while the referee was going over the rules with both men as Greg Hamilton walked out of the ring.

Ding-Ding-Ding!

As the bell rang, the fans cheered at the main event match of the King of the Ring Pay-Per-View. This was Ced's very first time being in the main event of a Pay-Per-View under WWE's banner and Ricochet's second time with the first being Money in the Bank 2019. Ced held his hand out for Ricochet to shake making Ricochet smirk as he shook hands. The two had a mutual respect for each other and friendship out of the ring that couldn't be broken but right now it was time to put all of that to the side and crown a King of the Ring.

Both men started trash talking each other as they handshake broke apart while they stood there face-to-face. Ced was the first throw a punch getting a pop from the crowd as he did so. Ricochet fought back with punch of his own and pretty soon there were throwing hands back and forth with Ricochet getting the advantage hitting Ced with right hands that sent him into the corner. Ricochet continued throwing hooks at Ced until the 6'3 Superstar managed to get some separation when he kicked Ricochet in the gut making the high-flier take a few steps back to catch his breath.

Ced stepped out of the corner towards Ricochet grabbing him before hitting him with a knee to the abdomen making Ricochet grunt as he stumbled back to the ropes. "Yung Simba" was making it his mission to target the weakened abdomen Ricochet. If he took out the abdomen of Ricochet, then he could limit the amount of aerial offense that Ricochet could pull off. The former Intercontinental Champion ran towards Ricochet hitting him with a clothesline knocking him over the top rope. Ricochet landed on his feet but stumbled into the barricade as his back hit the barricade making him grunt. Ced stood in the middle of the ring, looking around at the crowd with a frown as his face.

Ced dropped down, rolling under the bottom rope and walked towards Ricochet looking to mount more offense but Ricochet had other plans and managed to get Ced with a drop toe hold making Ced's face hit the top of the barricade making him drop down to his knees. Ricochet took this as an opportunity and backed up getting some space from his opponent. "The King of Flight" watched as Ced rose up to his feet and turned around to face him. Ricochet ran towards Ced hitting him with a dropkick to the right knee causing Ced to fall on the outside with his face smacking off the mat on the outside. Ced clutched his knee as Ricochet slid under the bottom rope and slid right back out breaking and restarting the count. Ricochet grabbed Ced by the head and neck and threw him into the steel ring post making Ced's head ring off the ring post with a thud.

And Ricochet wasting little to no time grabbed Ced once more and threw him into the ring. Ricochet hopped up onto the apron before jumping over the ropes with a slingshot corkscrew splash hooking the leg of Ced.

1...

2, Ced quickly powered out at 2. Ced shook his head as he sat up while Ricochet hit the ropes and when he rebounded off, he caught Ced with a basement dropkick, hitting Ced directly in the jaw. Ricochet hit the ropes and jumped onto the middle rope jumping off colliding with Ced's body with a springboard moonsault. Ricochet rolled away from Ced clutching his abdomen as Ced rolled away from Ricochet towards the ropes. Ced rolled out onto the apron using the top rope to pull himself up to a vertical base. Ricochet ran towards Ced jumping onto an opposite set of ropes and used the elevation from the ropes and clock Ced with a triangle dropkick knocking him off the apron, to collide face-first with the barricade once again.

So far Ricochet was in control of the match and wasn't looking to let up as he ran to the ropes looking for an outside dive. Ced despite the lingering pain in his knee quickly ran into the ring under the bottom rope and caught Ricochet as he rebounded off the ropes damn near knocking Ricochet out of his boots. Both men laid on the canvas panting for their breath as they stared up at the ceiling while the fans cheered. They were only 7 minutes in the match and their tanks were already half-way. Earlier in the night they both wrestled grueling 20+ plus minute matches with Ced's match with AJ being 21 minutes and Ricochet's match with Randy Orton 25 minutes.

Both men walked rolled over to the ropes and used them to pull each other up to their feet. Ricochet and Ced both stared at each other with a small smile forming on the two opponent's face. Both men ran towards each other and started trading blows once again with Ricochet getting the advantage hitting Ced with right hands sending him to the ropes. Ricochet tried to whip Ced into the ropes but Ced reversed it and sent Ricochet into the ropes instead. As Ricochet bounced off the ropes, Ced went for a clothesline but Ricochet ducked it and went to the ropes once again. Ricochet bounced off the ropes and Ced caught him almost instinctively with a high knee using the right knee. Ced groaned clutching his knee in pain as Ricochet rolled over to the corner and used the ropes to pull himself up.

Ricochet saw that Ced was in a precarious position and ran towards Ced hitting him with a chop block to the right knee sending Ced down to the canvas clutching the knee. Ricochet grabbed Ced by the leg turning him over onto his abdomen and placed his feet onto the back of the knee and raised it up in the air before slamming it down onto the canvas making Ced groan in pain.

Ced silently cursed as he slapped the mat. Ricochet looked down at his opponent, placing his foot on the back of the knee once more and picked the leg up slamming his knee into the canvas making him grunt in pain. Ricochet wasn't completely known for wrestling a slow pace but in a match against a man like Ced, he had to. Ricochet rolled Ced over onto his front and locked on an inverted Indian deathlock making Ced scream out in pain as he felt the hold work on the already injured knee.

Ricochet kept the hold locked on as Ced continued to scream out in pain. He had to muster up enough strength to pull himself to the ropes forcing Ricochet to break the hold. Ced crawled over to the corner and used it to pull himself up to his feet. He limped out of the corner and was caught by Ricochet as Ricochet put him down with a spinebuster shades of one of his favorite wrestlers, The Rock. Ricochet popped back up to his feet and looked around the arena at the screaming fans. Ricochet ran to the ropes. He jumped over Ced and hit the ropes once more. Ced kipped up to his feet making the fans pop even louder.

Ced grabbed Ricochet by his arm and forced him down to the canvas before Ced wrapped the arm around the face of Ricochet setting him up in the Killer Crossface. Ricochet screamed out in pain as he waved his arms around frantically as he struggled for his breath. The fans cheered seeing Ced used his patented Killer Crossface a move that had gotten him so many wins on the Indy scene. Ricochet couldn't fight it and tapped the mat repeatedly tapping out ending the match making Ced release the hold and rolled away to the ropes as he looked around.

Ced limped over to the center of the ring and raised his arm in victory while the fans cheered. He looked towards the stage seeing the iconic King of the Ring throne, crown and cape.

He limped over to the ropes and stepped out of the ring and slowly made his way up the ramp. He walked over to the throne and took the cape off the mannequin putting on his shoulders with a smile and placing the crown onto his head and sat down in his throne looking on with a smirk on his face as he reveled in his victory. He looked around at the crowd as pyro went off around the arena as Ricochet looked on in the ring in disappointment with a frown. A/N: Alright it's been a while since I've wrote a chapter for this story and most of it has been because I've been in a stump because of this chapter but luckily, I got over the hump and I'm onto the next one. Let me know what you think about the chapter, I admit the match against AJ was slightly better than the match against Ricochet but I did that because of the fact that Ced's knee was getting in the way and the fact that he had wrestled a match before then. But next chapter will be the SmackDown after King of the Ring and we'll get an angle and maybe a match. Keyword maybe.
