When reminiscing through the equipment of his forge, silent and dark in the silver evening, the twins' eyes parted opened with sleepy wonder.

One of them cooed, kicked a tiny foot beneath the blanket, and waved a little fist for attention, while the other promptly yawned again and settled for gazing sleepily up at his Atar.

Fëanáro leaned over to kiss their tiny noses, breathing in their clean scent.

He sounded out "Ambarussa" under his breath with a whisper of quiet love, feeling the younger twin's hand brush against his lips, and he kissed it with an aching tenderness in his roaring heart, my little treasure.

As if the word treasure became the pulling thread to his attention, he spotted it at the corner of his eye, an indecisive thought crossed his mind, stirring that burning rise of lust and possessiveness that kept stirring in his chest and nagging his thoughts of late.

With a glance at his tiny sons, already half-asleep in the crook of his arm, he reached out into the dark corner at the far back of the forge where a small, heavily-vaulted chest lay hidden.

Unlocking the bolts and opening the lid by a crack, a bright, white light, mingled by three star-like jewels embedded together in a silver crown—his crown—illuminated the forge, the air filling with soft, gentle song that enchanted his heart and soul from the moment the first stone had breathed its first tune.

The babies made gentle cooing noises, both peering at the crack of light with snow-flamed stars reflecting from their eyes.

One reached as if his tiny, delicate fingers could ever hope to touch its source, while the other flinched back and wriggled in his bundle with a whimper.

"Behold, my loves," Fëanáro breathed, drawn by the light, but not so much that he give in to the urge to press his youngest son's tiny outstretch hand between his finger and thumb, "safe and sound…My Silmarils, the light of your making...the light of my fëa, and that of the stars...where none but me and my own may see and touch..."

One twin is more lazy and mild, while the other is more active and noisy. Which one is which, you would wonder?
