Vin and the Shadow Dancer Chapter Three: Cold Revelation
There the two are on the snowy mountain as the snowstorm gets wilder. Interestingly enough, Yvette is not freezing up from the clothing she is wearing. Speaking of the techie, she is still looking at the mech Yves is in.
"Is that accurately you in that contrivance?" Yvette wanted confirmation.
"Um, yes," Yves hesitated to answer. She had already given her voice away, might as well go ahead and tell the truth.
"It appears whensoever I go, I continuously find you," Yvette accredited.
"I don't think that's accurate," Yves replied from inside her mech. "In fact, I only know you from dreams I had."
Yvette's eyes widen in surprise for a brief moment before going back to her monotone facial expression. "Well, I have personally encountered you in various alterations."
"Alterations?" Yves questioned confused.
"Don't play the fool with me. You've been a thorn in my side everywhere," Yvette stated, a hint of venom leaking from her voice. "You won't hesitate to get rid of your enemies then cry about your actions when you have nothing to blame but yourself."
Yves winces from that comment from inside her mech. "Okay, that is a surprisingly accurate description of me."
"As expected, all of you are the same," Yvette said then glares.
"All of us? Okay, please stop with the crypt talk," Yves pleaded coldly. "You know something that I don't know. Now spill it out." The dancer is no longer interested in winning the challenge. She just wants answers.
"Unfortunately, I can't give you that data," Yvette stated as she begins looking at her tablet and begins pressing the screen with her right-hand fingers. "Because you won't live long enough to find out."
"I'm sorry, what?" Yves exclaimed about to panic. Did the techie just threaten her?
By using her tablet, Yvette is able to control the snow falling from the snowstorm. On the tablet's screen, she moves her right index finger from the bottom to the top in a sliding motion. The snow then launches itself to destroy the dancer's mech.
Yvette watches in satisfaction as the rapid snow continues to hit the mech. By just touching the tablet, the snow stops attacking. Her smirk fades quickly once she sees the snow covering the mech falls without doing damage.
"What!? How!?" Yvette said baffled. "That snow should have at least damaged sixty-nine percent of your mech."
Yves looks around her control room and notices the shield button still on. "Oh, that's because of my forcefield."
"You mean the purple aura around your mech?" Yvette stated as she adjusts her glasses with her right hand. "I presumed it was an artistic design."
"Nope, just blocks all attacks coming at me no matter how great the damage can be," Yves responded, forming a small smile.
"That is completely broken," Yvette spoke deadpanned.
Yves does not respond to what the techie said and instead grabs Yvette's body with her mech's left hand. She accidentally crushes the tablet the techie has in the process.
"You idiot, do you know what you have done?" Yvette exclaimed annoyed.
"No," Yves simply answered.
"It was a rhetorical question," Yvette snarked.
"Being sardonic? Didn't take you to be that type," Yves smirked.
With the tablet broken, the snowstorm stops, and the sky becomes clear. Then the snowy mountain begins to shake.
"I hypothesize that this will lead to disaster," Yvette speculated as she adjusts her glasses again.
"It doesn't take a genius to know that," Yves responded, already knowing the circumstances.
The mountain continues to shake.
"Just leave me here," Yvette told the dancer, still begin gripped by the mech's yellow left hand. "Is what you would do anyway. The mountain is going to go back down to its original size."
Yves narrows her eyes. "As if I'll let you potentially die." She holds the forcefield button to see if the purple aura can surround Yvette. The aura does.
"What are you doing?" Yvette wondered as she sees her body be encircled by the aura.
"Saving your life," Yves declared. "Hold on tight!"
"You're gripping me with your mech's hand where else am I supposed to go?" Yvette quipped as the mountain continues to shake now more rapidly.
Yves controls her mech into putting its right hand and two feet deep into the dirt to stay steady. The mountain stops shaking and begins to rapidly go back to its normal size. The two girls scream as they descend with the mountain going back to its original form.
Back at the start of the mountain the rest of the contestants in their mechs, Dana, and Chris watch it return to its normal size in awe, concern, and perplexion.
Once back to its original form, everyone notices the dancer's mech holding Yvette. The giant yellow ring has stayed put on the mountain.
"And Yves wins the first challenge for the Beta Bots!" Dana announced excitedly.
The Beta Bots do not cheer, they are still wondering what just happened.
"Who's the girl? She's not a contestant," Chris pointed at Yvette.
Yves turns off her forcefield and lets go of the techie. The broken tablet pieces fall to the ground.
"You saved my life when you could have gone on your own. Maybe you are different from them," Yvette thanked in her own way. "Though, you could have just flown us out of the predicament."
"I'm not good at making instant decisions that's my boyfriend's job," Yves told. "Though you can be more grateful." Since Yvette is no longer a threat, Yves gets out of her mech. The dancer watches the other contestants get out of their respective mech.
Daniel gets out of his giant black bot with several music-related images plastered on the shiny armor. He seems fine with his team's loss. Maybe he knows that somebody else is going home.
Caleb gets out of his mech that resembles a giant white king chess piece. The mech's legs and feet are similar to the black bishop chess piece. Its arms and hands look like black rook chess pieces. He smirks happily that his team won.
Calvin already got off his mech. The contraption is a blue mechanical triceratops with wheels instead of feet. He takes his team's loss with pride given his facial expression.
Valerie gets out her mech and is surprised her team won. "What is this happiness I'm feeling," Valerie spoke. Her mech has the figure of a female boxer, boxing gloves included, and colorful flower patterns all over it. The mech is gray with its gloves, chest, and torso pink.
Garret does not mind the loss for his team the Delta Droids. His mech is basically a giant version of him with a large guitar on its back.
Brittany has already been out of her mech. She is filing her fingernails, unbothered by her team's loss. She is positive she will not go home first. Her mech is another humanoid one which is blue with white flowers all over it.
Mitchell seems to be struggling a bit to get out of his mech. Buck and Sami help him get out. The paranoid author keeps quiet and does not thank his teammates. Not because he is rude. Has to do more with suspicion. Buck and Sami look at each other to see what either of them did wrong.
Mitchell's mech resembles a horror character from a movie. The circle shape head is a hockey mask, the legs resemble jeans, the feet brown shoes, and the arms and chest look like it is wearing a long-sleeve brown sweater. Lastly, its hands resemble black gloves.
Nolan sighs as he looks at his mech. It looked like it got damaged during the challenge since various sparks are all over the machine. The mech looks like a tyrannosaurus rex that is green with red spots and yellow eyes.
"I did make it weak in my application," Nolan said the shrugged.
"Excuse me? What did you say?" Margaret exclaimed heading towards the buzzkill.
The other Delta Droids walk to Nolan to have a conversation on why he made his mech weak except for Niu. That is because Niu recently got out of her mech.
Niu's mech is a giant silver disco ball.
Violette reunites with the Beta Bots as they now cheer for Yves's victory. In the background, Violette's mech is shown. Which is a giant rabbit machine. Chris and Dana approach Yvette.
"Explain yourself," Chris spoke as he crossed his arms. "Don't try to run away. Our contestants can capture you with their mechs."
"You think I didn't think of that already?" Yvette spoke, feeling disappointed that the dashing host asked her that question.
"Explanation," Dana reminded while glaring at the techie. "You are lucky today's challenge is a success. I would be more upset if you interrupted it, so consider yourself grateful for not getting any punishments already for trespassing."
Yvette sighs. "Very well, I suppose it is necessary to explain myself. I simply am a huge Total Drama fan and wanted to be in the new season since it's about robotics which fascinates me."
"Oh my gosh, you too?" Dana said excitedly, immediately forgetting what recently happened.
"Yes, I forgot to make an application which is why I came here with my tablet to explore the whereabouts," Yvette continued as she looks down at the broken pieces of her tablet.
"By hacking the island to create a snowstorm?" Chris narrows his eyes at the techie. Looking at the broken parts of the tablet he can tell the product is similar to the one he used in Pahkitew Island. "I bet that tablet helped you to do it."
"You are smarter here than I thought," Yvette replied.
"Yeah, I'm sensing some Sierra vibes with you," Chris said then looks at his co-host. "Let's call the cops and get her out of here."
"Since when did you care about intruders?" Dana wondered.
"Since Topher planned that attack in Crowstillo Island," Chris retold the child.
As her team continues to celebrate and talk, Yves has been hearing the whole conversation. This is even raising more questions. She also knows that Yvette is lying. Being a Total Drama fan? She does not remember her being that in her dreams. Well, maybe just for Scarlett. Perhaps this girl can provide answers.
"Very well, where should I wait for them to take me away?" Yvette asked emotionless.
Before Chris or Dana can answer, Yves steps into the conversation being between the two.
"You know, since Yvette is a Total Drama fan why don't you two let her enjoy the experience as an intern?" Yves proposed. "Seems likes a justifiable punishment for trespassing. Plus, she no longer has her tablet to hack the island."
Chris and Dana think about this for a moment. The two hosts look at each other and nod in agreement.
"Sure, this person Yvette will stay as an intern," Dana agreed with the idea. "Chris, take her to the janitor closet. I will be hosting tonight's elimination." She leaves the scene.
"You're lucky that the janitor closet is near my jacuzzi room," Chris told smiling. It is a win-win for him. He tortures a teenager on becoming a janitor then relaxes in his private tub.
Once Chris escorts Yvette, Yves goes back to her team the Beta Bots.
"Why did you let that lady stay?" Buck asked his teammate.
"Well, she's a Total Drama fan like Kristie. I figured her staying as an intern might let her realize how being a fan of this show is a big mistake," Yves explained. Did she lie? She knows Yvette most likely lied. Oh dear, she is going to have to keep secrets from her team is she not?
"Who is Kristie?" Sami wondered.
"Who the **** cares about some random person not in this show?" Caleb exclaimed annoyed.
"Hey, we won the challenge. Didn't Chris mention the winning team will get a good prize?" Violette remembered.
"Better bunkrooms," Valerie answered. "But is probably just the same as the others but slightly cleaner."
"Come on now don't think so negative. They might be as soft as hay," Buck spoke positively.
"I don't know if that's better or worse than normal beds," Mitchell said nervously. "What if something inside the hay grabs you in the middle of the night?"
Violette snickers at the writer's paranoia.
"I'll go find Chris. Probably has the keys to our bedrooms," Yves volunteered. This will also allow her to have a private conversation with Yvette.
"Well hurry the **** up then," Caleb told unhappily. "We can't have our rooms be locked all day.
"I'll join her like sheep," Buck offered to go with Yves.
"Oh, I want to go too. The more the merrier," Violette said with her cute face being close to Buck's face. The MacGyver blushes a bit.
Confessional – Sami
"Caleb seems sweet at times, but is it wrong to tell him cursing every two minutes is a little annoying? Because its honesty is, but I don't want to sound rude."
End Confessional
Inside the hallways of the dome the trio Violette, Buck, and Yves walk around until they notice Chris talking with Yvette. The techie is now wearing green sneakers, long gray uniform pants accompanied with a long gray sleeve uniform shirt, and a gray cap. Yvette opens a door and enters a place that is most likely the janitor's closet.
"We'll stay here while you talk to Chris," Yves told Buck.
"We will?" Violette asked confused.
Yves grips her left hand on the sly girl's right arm while giving a forced smile. "Yes, we will."
"Sounds good to me," Buck told then calls McLean's name to get the host's attention. The Southern afterward walks to Chris.
"You can let go of me now," Violette told Yves. The cute girl then forcefully takes her right arm out of the dancer's left hand.
The two girls narrow their eyes at each other.
"I know your game," Yves coldly said. "Whatever you do, do not manipulate Buck into being in a relationship with you. One, because it will end badly. Two, I need him more than you in case more crazy stuff happens."
Violette chuckles quietly. "I should have expected that forgetfulness is all an act. Nice strategy, similar to mine."
"Forgetfulness? An act?" Yves responded in a quiet tone. She does not want to cause a scene.
"Don't worry, I'll let you have Bucky-bear," Violette smirked. "The other two boys are far easier anyway."
"Got the keys to our rooms," Buck came back after conversating with Chris. He notices the stares his teammates are giving each other. "Hey now, what's with the bull faces?"
Violette is the first to smile at her teammate. "Oh, just Yves and I having a lovely conversation about boys."
Buck chuckles. "Guess you two were about to talk about makeup too?"
Violette playfully laughs. "You're funny Buck. Let's give the rest of the keys to our team."
"You two go on without me," Yves said as she gently takes a key out of Buck's left hand. "I'm going to do some exploring before checking out my room."
"Suit yourself," Violette responded while shrugging. She and Buck enter another hallway.
Yves approaches the door where Chris and Yvette were talking nearby. She knocks on the door three times.
"I have exactly forty-two minutes and seventeen seconds before going on cleaning duty," Yvette spoke from inside the room. "Fifteen seconds now, fourteen…"
"It's Yves, we need to talk now," The dancer spoke.
Yvette opens the door. Inside the room is in fact a janitor's closet. The shelves have all kinds of cleaning equipment, sponges, buckets, broom, and mops.
"Come in," Yvette offered Yves to enter the closet.
"Don't try to harm me. We both know doing that will ruin your life," Yves bluntly spoke.
"I figured that out already," Yvette replied.
"Then why did you try to kill me with snow earlier?" Yves wondered as she enters the closet. Yvette closes the door.
"I didn't try to kill you," Yvette stated.
"You literally told me in my face that 'I won't live long enough to find out'," Yves recapped, getting annoyed. She needs to know where this girl actually came from.
"Technically I was talking to the mech," Yvette clarified.
"Don't be stupid you know what I mean," Yves exclaimed.
Yvette's legs shake after the dancer almost yelled at her. Yves notices this and calms down.
"I'm sorry, is just so much has happened in less than a day. It's been freaking me out. I thought you would have the answers," Yves apologized and explained.
"What answers?" Yvette questioned curiously.
Yves takes a silver bucket out of the janitor's shelf and puts it upside down on the ground. Then she sits on the bucket. "You didn't tell the truth to Chris and Dana, didn't you?"
"Correct, how did you figure it out?" Yvette nicely asked.
"I've competed in two seasons of Total Drama already. I pretty much know the ropes when it comes to figuring out each person's ambitions," Yves explained.
"Two seasons?" Yvette wondered, now wanting to know more about this specific shadow dancer. She sits on a wooden chair that is in the left corner. "Explained all details. All of them."
Yves does not know if she should talk about everything that has happened to her. Perhaps just enough so the techie does not ask more questions. After all, in the dreams she had with this girl this person is not exactly trustworthy.
"I don't belong here. I don't know how to put it. One moment I was at an island with my boyfriend and the next I'm here stuck in this artificial one," Yves explained a bit about what happened.
"Hmm, something similar happened to me," Yvette stated. "I was competing in Total Drama. An all-star season sort to speak. Pahkitew Island was about to explode again, and I had Chris's tablet with me. When I entered one of the doorways underground this red cloud suddenly engulfed me."
"Red cloud?" Yves wondered. Could it be the same cloud she and King Vinoripmav got in?
"Indeed," Yvette confirmed. "Once the cloud disappeared, I saw myself here on a mountain of this island. I quickly realized this place is artificial once I looked at my tablet giving me blueprints of this place."
A quick flashback shows the techie looking at a sign that says, 'This Island is Artificial'. Flashback finishes.
"I hacked the island to create a large snowy mountain for myself to figure out on my own what happened. That is until I met you," Yvette finished bitterly. "Always ruining my plans. Though I must thank you for saving my life and letting me stay here. Don't know where I'll go if I left this island."
"I appreciate you thanking me, but how do you exactly know me? I only know you from dreams," Yves kept the conversation going.
"We competed on that all-star season together, but we also encountered ourselves competing in a cruise ship, and an alpine," Yvette stated. "Is just a theory, but that red cloud must have combined all versions of me into one due to the fact I have all knowledge of these three events. I don't believe in the supernatural aspect and there is no evidence I have to justify that theory yet is all I have gathered."
Confessional – Yves
She is frustrated. "Ugh, this just raising more questions!"
End Confessional
"Thanks for the chat," Yves expressed gratitude as she stands up from the bucket she was sitting on. She is doing her best not to hide her disappointment. "If my team throws a first win party, I'll clean up a bit." She walks to the door of the room and opens it.
"That is surprising to hear coming from your mouth," Yvette admitted looking at the dancer.
"I'm… trying to change for the better," Yves replied then left and closes the door.
A few seconds pass until Yvette hears knocking on the door again. She groans as she gets up from the wooden chair and opens the door. The figure is not shown except for its left bone arm and hand that is holding a sword. Surprised by this, the techie does not know what to do.
Time has pass and it is now night. Surprisingly to Yves, her teammates did not throw a party. Well, Sami offered but everyone wanted to be in their own room to relax. Except for Buck and Sami of course. Yves can tell those two are the most sociable. Not because of how they act, but because she has competed with them in Back to the Islands and Radiant Redemption.
Yves refused the party since she still does not want to be too close to Sami. Even if the theater girl does not remember, just standing a close distance makes her uncomfortable, but she will not show that.
Yves was exploring the island a bit to find answers on how she got here but nothing came up. Now that it is night, she walks down one of the hallways and approaches a door in the middle of eight other doors. Well, almost middle. She takes out her key and inserts it into the doorknob. Once opening she enters her room and looks around.
The walls are painted red. The floor tiles are white and so clear that one can see their own reflection. The bed is king size while the sheets are a sky-blue cover. There are three white pillows on the bed. To the dancer's right is a forty-inch flat television screen connected to the wall. Under the TV is a brown shelf with books and magazines on it. There is also a remote for the TV on top of the shelf.
"No wonder my teammates wanted to stay in their room," Yves joked as she closes the door of her room. Once locking the door, she heads to the open bathroom area and notices a hot tub in there.
"Alright, this has to be Dana's work and not Chris. No way he would provide this amount of luxury," Yves told herself. "Wonder how that girl even has the funds for this."
She heads back to the bedroom section and grabs the TV remote on top of the shelf. She then sits on her bed and turns on the TV with the power on button on the remote.
"Is probably going to be reruns of Total Drama," Yves expected.
Once on, she is right. The series showing on screen is a rerun of Total Drama Crowstillo Island's finale.
"Watching my boyfriend's downfall in his debut? Eh, sure," Yves casually said. Time pasts as she watches the episode. She sees Casey sliding down the small man-made pyramid.
Casey has natural straight blonde hair dyed halfway in pink that goes down the way to her back. Her face is very youthful-looking with almost big yellowish-green eyes. She is 5'7'', has pale skin, and has a pear-shaped body. She wears a thick and incredibly long yellow scarf, a black t-shirt depicting realistic-looking scars and blood patterns, a short red skirt, and almost knee-height black combat boots.
The dancer is perplexed by this action. She puts the remote on her bed.
"That's not supposed to happen. Casey trips while sliding down the pyramid," Yves said baffled at what she is seeing. There is no way that scene was edited out. It plays a crucial part in the episode.
As Yves continues to watch, she notices that Casey's left ankle is good since the blonde is running fine.
"Her ankle was sprained," Yves exclaimed now even more confused as she stands up from her bed. "What is going on?"
As Yves gets close to the screen Casey and Knick are kissing each other on the lips.
"Here we have our two finalists," Chris declared from the episode.
"No, Casey is supposed to put a sticky grenade on Knick's face," Yves spoke, her confusion growing by the second. "This isn't right." She takes magazines out of the brown shelf and puts them on her bed. She is ignoring the rest of the episode on the TV.
Upon looking at the magazines, Yves can only gasp at what she is gazing at. Some of the magazines have a cover of Knick and Casey being together. She opens those magazines and rapidly reads almost every page that describes her boyfriend's relationship with the other girl going for three years strong.
"They are not supposed to be together," Yves said to herself panicking. Is that what Buck was referring to earlier today? "They broke up after one week of that episode."
She closes the magazines she opened and throws them to the side with frustration. Then she notices one of them having a cover of Dana and Chris shaking hands. She opens the magazine and reads it out loud.
"Three years after Total Drama's cancellation, Dana and Chris have agreed to make Total Drama Mega Mechas and bought the rights to the franchise."
Yves grips the magazine tightly then rips it in half. "The show came back after two years, two years!"
"Can we make out?" Casey asked Knick from the episode that is still on the TV.
"Sure," Knick responded.
Hearing the smooching, Yves grabs the remote she put on the bed and throws it at the flat TV screen. The screen becomes static while the remote is stuck in the electronic device. The confused girl gets on the floor with her knees. She stares at her reflection on the clean tiles.
"Where am I? I want my life back," Yves cried as tears begin to fall from her eyes. Why is Knick still with Casey? Whatever the answer is, she does not know. All she can do now is cry. Cry on how everything going on has no sense to her.
Her teammates are outside the hallway in front of her door room after hearing the commotion and sobbing. She hears knocking coming from her door.
"Yves, are you okay?" Sami worryingly asked. "We all heard something break and heard your crying."
"Go away," Yves spoke from inside her room then continues to cry.
"Geez, what a baby," Caleb commented to her teammates.
"She's probably going through something we do not understand," Buck figured.
"Can't be worse than me," Valerie spoke quietly as she crosses her arms.
"Maybe we should give her space," Mitch suggested. "Or maybe she wants us to go into her room. Wait, what if it's a trap to try and…"
"Love the suggestion of giving her space Mitch," Violette interrupted while smiling cutely.
Sami knocks on the door again. "Yves as a team we are here for you."
Yves knows the theater girl is not going to budge. Sami always wanted to make sure her teammates are okay.
"If I'm still crying for more than three minutes I'll come out and talk," Yves replied while still weeping.
"Okay," Sami responded.
Not wanting to truly talk with anyone Yves decides to take a shower. Even if she talks about everything happening to the team they will think she is crazy. She opens the faucet to the shower so her teammates can hear the sound of water falling quickly. After hearing footsteps and several doors open Yves sighs.
"Just take a shower and call it a night," Yves told herself calmly once she stops crying. She will need all the rest she needs to continue in trying to figure out what has happened to her.
More time passes as it is now the middle of the night thanks to the dark sky with the full moon lighting the world as much as it can. Calvin is shown walking through the hallways in his pajamas which is simply a dark brown boxer short. He yawns and scratches his back a bit.
"Man, I wish the communal bathroom wasn't so far away from my team's bunk room," Calvin commented groggily.
As he continues to walk down the hall, he begins to hear animal noises coming from behind. Turning around, Calvin notices a swarm of black bats heading in his direction. He ducks so the bats can pass by without interference. As much as he would like to investigate why bats are flying through the halls, he is too tired to do so.
"Suddenly I don't have the need to go," Calvin admitted, still surprised by what just happened.
The swarm of bats approaches the door room where Yves is sleeping at. One of the bats uses its left foot to unlock the door. The rest of the bats enter the room and make noise.
Yves is sleeping on her bed. She is wearing a white nightgown. She does not know how she got pajamas in her room in the first place since when heading to Vinolucard Island she only wears her everyday clothing, but she's not going to complain. Upon hearing the bats' noises, she opens her eyes. Once fully realizing what she is seeing the dancer is about to scream. One of the bats however uses its right foot to signal her to shush.
Normally one will scream after a bat tells them to be silent with their foot, but Yves stays quiet. Why? Not even she knows. The swarm of black bats lifts up Yves.
Where are they taking her is what Yves is thinking right now as the bat that opened the door unites with its swarm and the bats continue carrying the girl out of her room, into the hallway, outside the dome, and into Cali-Tokyo's city.
