Vin and the Shadow Dancer Chapter Four: Meeting Mystery

The moon at night illuminates the island called Cali-Tokyo. Many stars are also shown since the lights throughout the city are turned off. Except for the dome of course where Chris, Dana, Yvette, and the contestants are inside to sleep the night away. However, one is no longer in the dome.

The swarms of bats continue to carry Yves across the island. Yves decides to gaze upon the city, the stars, and the moon.

"This is surprisingly nice," Yves admitted, starting to get comfortable.

The relaxation ends quickly as the swarm of bats takes her to a place with three buildings that are large in length and two stories high. The middle is intact, but its neighbors are torn down, destroyed.

"Whoa," Yves said as she looks at the area. What could have caused that amount of destruction? Perhaps an earthquake?

The bats take Yves into one of the first-floor broken windows of the still-standing building. Though, judging by the fact that there are broken windows and cracks this building might collapse soon enough as the other two.

Once inside the structure, the bats stop carrying Yves. The dancer falls to the ground on her back by just one foot.

"Ow," Yves groaned. The fall was not bad, but it did hurt. She gets up and stretches her body before examining the area.

The building seems to be that of an office. An abandoned office at that. Books, desks, keyboards, computers, and shelves are all broken on the ground. The office space walls for employees have been torn down to the floor.

"What is this place?" Yves wondered. Yes, it is an abandoned office. However, what was it used for?

"It is my hideout," A voice is heard.

Yves turns around and watches the swarm of bats turn into King Vinoripmav of Vinolucard Island.

"Oh my gosh Vinoripmav I am so glad to see you," Yves said happily while having an open smile.

Vinoripmav has his cape covering his suit, bowtie, and pants. His facial expression is blank. "You're alive. Not even injured. That is good news," The vampire spoke in his Spain accent. He then notices the girl's forearms covered in dirty white bandages. "Well, at least you're not dead."

Yves notices the vampire looking at her covered-up forearms. "These are before I met you. They were hiding under my long sleeve orange shirt."

"Noted," Vinoripmav stated. He then examines the girl's nightgown. "Professionalism, purity, gracefulness. Those words can suit you if you ever learn."

"Learn? Learn what?" Yves wondered.

Vinoripmav turns around and begins walking away. "Follow me," The vampire instructed.

Yves wastes no time and walks with her companion. "You are going to explain everything to me of what is happening, right?"

"You are pretentious that I know the cause and effect of why we are stuck here," Vinoripmav stated as he continues to walk.

"You must know. At least some sort of idea," Yves begged. "Everything is a mess. We are stuck on this island, no one remembers me, and apparently, my boyfriend is with Casey when they are not supposed to."

Vinoripmav stops near an empty bookshelf. He pushes it to the left as Yves stops to see him doing the act. A door-size hole is shown once Vin finishes pushing the bookshelf.

"Did you make that?" Yves asked.

"Must have the orb kept in secret," Vinoripmav did not answer, though one can figure out he did in fact make the door hole. He uses his left hand to make a snapping sound with his thumb and middle finger. Once the snap is heard, fire comes out from the palm of his left hand. This illuminates the area of the dark door hole.

"Watch your step, there are stairs," Vinoripmav warned Yves. The dancer nods in understanding.

The two walk down the stairs until arriving at a cave-like area. Yves notices blue and cyan crystals enlightening the cave. Vinoripmav blows on his hand to put out his fire.

"I heard this island is artificial. Why are there Crowstillo crystals underground?" Yves wondered.

The king's right eye twitches when his companion mentioned Crowstillo. "You will find out in due time."

The two continue walking through the cave until stopping to gaze upon the red orb on top of a bunch of books. About five feet in height is the tower of books.

Yves notices the cracked part of the orb glowing a bit.

"Is not a good idea having the orb on top of a pile of books," Yves warned Vinoripmav.

"There are yellow magic chains under the orb to prevent it from falling in case of an earthquake," Vinoripmav told.

"Are you okay? You're a lot more expressionless from when I met you," Yves pointed out.

"Hmm, let me point out the issues. The red orb is cracked. We are stuck in another dimension. My injury prevents me from fully using my magic. Plus, I am hungry. There are barely any animals living here for me to sustain myself," Vinoripmav talked about the situations.

"Whoa, stuck in another dimension?" Yves pondered perplexed. "What do you mean by that?"

"I believe a demonstration for your human mind will let you understand," Vinoripmav spoke. He approaches the orb and begins tapping on it with his right fingers. He is also making sure to avoid the crack the red orb has.

"Hey, can I call you Vin? Short for Vinoripmav," Yves suggested.

"If you insist," Vin said after he sighed. Finishing with touching the red orb, several cloud formations are shown.

Each cloud Yves sees has a different event going on. All of them have one thing in common. They all take place in the competition show called Total Drama.

"Wow, I completely forgot that the orb could let one see different universes and enter them," Yves remembered.

"Dimensions," Vinoripmav corrected.

"That means we are in another dimension," Yves realized and gets happy. "That means my Knick is not with Casey and is still in love with me."

"It also means he's still stuck in my island," Vin reminded.

Yves's happiness drops. She left her boyfriend alone on an island possibly filled with monsters. What could happen to him? Is he still alive? Why did she think doing this was a good idea at all?

Noticing the girl's gloomy demeanor, Vin decides to cheer her up. How? He does not know. It has been more than a century dealing with the emotions of humans for him.

"Look," Vin pointed at one of the velvet clouds.

Yves looks at the cloud the vampire king is pointing at. She notices six contestants riding a roller coaster. What is weird is that all of them are standing on the ride, not sitting in it. Nevertheless, the dancer knows that location. It is the carnival that is being used for Total Drama's new season. She bends her knees a bit.

"Yves, don't!" Vin warned, extending his right hand for dramatic flair.

Yves jumps into the cloud. Instead of going back to her world, she face plants onto the cloud. The impact feels like someone bumping into metal. Even coming with the metal sound effect. The dancer slowly falls to the ground.

"Ow," Yves groaned in pain as she rubs her forehead with her left arm.

"Since the orb is cracked, we can only see the different worlds. Not enter them," Vin stated. He taps the orb again so the clouds can disappear. "I cannot repair this until my injury is one hundred percent gone."

Yves gets up and dusts herself off. "And where is this injury? I don't see it on you. You just want me to stay here as punishment for cracking the orb."

Vinoripmav opens his cape to reveal his injury. It is at the right side of his waist. Is a group of red visible veins outside his skin. Some veins go down to his leg and up to the right side of his chest. The veins are pounding like a heart.

Yves immediately vomits watching the injury. She closes her eyes. "Hide it with your cape again please."

Vinoripmav does as told and uses his cape to cover his body. Done, Yves looks at Vin as she takes some vomit off her lips with her left arm.

"That clears up the whole you could just be keeping me here as punishment," Yves stated.

"As if I want to stay on an artificial island with barely any wildlife for the rest of my life," Vinoripmav said annoyed.

"So, how long do you think this injury will keep us here?" Yves wondered.

"At minimum three weeks," Vin answered as he observes some of the cyan crystals. "There are no natural ingredients on this island to prepare proper healing. And this is no ordinary injury, so no man-made medicine is going to assist."

"Yeah, kind of figured that out with the veins pounding constantly," Yves expected as much.

Vin breaks one of the cyan crystals. "These will at least power my healing magic a bit. Will still take time all things considered."

Yves sighs. "Guess I have to compete on another Total Drama season against my will." She crosses her arms. "Great." She stares at the orb before looking at the vampire again. "Surprised Dana or Chris couldn't find you since cameras are all over this island."

"I was transported here," Vin answered, ignoring the names mentioned. "Lucky me, this area is abandoned. I have yet to witness a camera in my sight. Whatever that is."

"You're not too knowledgeable of technology, are you?" Yves asked.

"No," Vin answered as he takes out another cyan crystal. This time from the ground. "Which is why I dislike it here."

Yves yawns. She is starting to fall asleep. "Okay, before you take me back to my bedroom, let me summarize all this. The only way we can go back to our world is when the orb is fixed. Which means I have to stay in the competition as long as I have to."

"Correct," Vin confirmed, noticing the girl looking tired. "Any more questions before I bring you to your sleeping grounds?"

"How are you going to eat?" Yves asked.

"The small critters can only sustain me for so long until I desire human blood," Vin stated. He grabs a rat that is moving around in the ground near him and puts his fangs on the creature. He sucks the blood out of the rat quickly.

"Any other substitute for blood?" Yves wondered, her eyes going weary.

"Anything that is the red color. Like an apple," Vin answered as he drops the dead rat down. Then he crushes the cyan crystals into small parts with his left hand. Next, he drops the crystals onto the ground. The crystals have yellow dust on them. After a second, the crystals turn into a wooden throne chair.

"Not accustomed to this, but it will do for the time," Vin said as he sits on the throne.

"I can get red food from the kitchen back at the dome and bring them here for you," Yves offered. She yawns again. "I just need to…" She closes her eyes and falls asleep on the ground with a thud.

Vin gets out of his throne and approaches the sleeping teenager. Even though he is injured, he still can lift up Yves with ease.

"You humans are always amusing. Maybe I will actually get along with your kind again," Vinoripmav stated and lets out a brief smile.

Vin transforms into a swarm of bats and takes the sleeping Yves back to her bedroom.
