Vin and the Shadow Dancer Chapter Ten: Only Option

Buck is sitting on his bed in his private room alone. He twiddles his fingers while looking at them. What happened earlier in the day still has him in an internal struggle.

Yves is from another world? That sounds impossible. But his teammate sounded serious when telling him. Was Yves right about rejecting his love? He likes crazy people, but to the degree of her possibly being from a different dimension?

Buck has never thought of the idea of a possible multiverse. He always believed there only existed him, the Earth, and outer space. He messes up his dirty blonde hair, struggling to understand the events of today.

"I shouldn't be thinking about this," Buck told himself after he finished touching his hair. "Yves is just crazy."

Crazy? How? He saw Ingrid and Yves greet each other and know each other. Ingrid was never in Revenge of the Island. How did she become a mutant?

Buck sighs. Maybe Yves is telling the truth. If so, despite her not wanting to become a couple, Buck would like to help Yves if more intruders come. After all, they are teammates and there is still a competition to win one million dollars. He needs all the help he can get.

Buck, now a bit more relieved and happier gets up from his bed. He quickly heads to his room's door so he can open it and go find Yves for more answers.

Once he opens the door, Violette is shown standing from outside the room. She has her hands behind her back and gives a bright cute smile to Buck.

"Hey Bucky-bear," Violette nicknamed with a delightful voice. "You're feeling better?"

"More than before," Buck laughed.

Violette giggles. "I didn't see you come to help give Yves dinner. I went with Caleb, Mitch, and Sami. We didn't stay too long because Yves wanted to be alone for some reason, but I got curious that you didn't go with us."

"Well, to be fair, no one told me what time ya'll bring her dinner," Buck pointed out. "But I probably wouldn't have joined. Maybe that's why Sami told me nothing," The southern murmured his last sentence while looking to his left.

"Oh yeah, you looked pretty dejected when we got out of our mechs this afternoon," Violette remembered. She grabs Buck's head and moves it so her teammate can look at her. "What happened to you? You can tell me. I'll keep it a secret."

"Can, you… take your hands off my face?" Buck kindly asked.

"Awe, do I have to?" Violette whined like a toddler but in an endearing way. She gives a flirtatious smirk and a more seductive voice. "I love the feeling of my hands touching your skin. You have really attractive blue eyes. Did I tell you I have a thing for mullets?"

Buck's eyes widen at the sudden flirting, making him confused. He grabs Violette's arms and gently puts them down. Violette slowly rubs her hands on Buck's arms to his hands and grips them. The two stare into each other's eyes.

"So, Bucky-bear, what seems to be the matter?" Violette asked, her tone a bit more serious.

"I confessed to Yves how I felt about her, and she didn't want to get into a relationship with me," Buck admitted, starting to sweat from holding hands with Violette.

"Oh, you poor thing," Violette faked her concern in a way that looked genuine. "She's missing out on a strong, smart, kind, and amazing man."

Buck lets a gentle blush out on his cheeks. "Violette, do you need to see a doctor? Because you are kind of acting strange."

Violette can hear footsteps coming by and brings Buck back inside his room with her. She lets go of her teammate's hands to lock the door. She looks through the keyhole and notices Mitch walking down the hallway from the right while Caleb walks down from the left. Both Beta Bot boys narrow their eyes at each other before leaving Violette's sight.

"Violette, I need to have a chat with Yves," Buck told the sly sweetheart. "If she's asleep I'll just wake her up."

Violette rolls her eyes and turns around to look at Buck with a seductive smile. She struts her way to Buck and places herself on the dirty blonde's chest.

"Why go to her again? She doesn't want you," Violette said as she gently moves her fingers around Buck's chest.

Buck grabs Violette's arms again and removes her teammate from his chest. He says, "Not as a boyfriend, but…"

"Bucky-bear, I didn't tell you I like you because I knew you wanted Yves' heart," Violette confessed.

"You, what, huh, how… you always like me?" Buck questioned perplexed. He sits on his bed and puts his left hand on his forehead. "Why in tarnation you didn't tell me?"

Violette sits next to Buck on her teammate's bed. "Because you liked Yves. I didn't want to risk myself getting rejected." She puts her right hand on Buck's left hand. "But now that she does not prefer you, maybe we can give each other a shot."

Buck and Violette look at each other face to face.

"You know, I never realized how pretty you are until now," Buck said after a chuckle.

"I always knew you are a beautiful man," Violette flirted. "You can talk to Yves tomorrow. Now, Bucky-bear, do you want to go out with me?"

Later that night, Vin pays a visit to Yves at the infirmary tent as a swarm of bats. He transforms into his vampire form and sees the dancer sleeping on a stretcher. He checks out the girl's bruises from a distance. Yves' right cheek has her now-signature three-line scratch. Her skin still has not healed that part. Upon further inspection are several scratches, small bruises, parts of her outfit ripped, and bite marks all over her. The bite marks are covered in big bandages.

King Vinoripmav moves his head side to side disappointed. "We do not reunite for one night and you are a mess."

The vampire touches one of the rails of the stretcher and rips a small piece from it. After taking a few steps back he bends and puts the ripped rail piece on the floor. He puts his left index finger inside his mouth and takes it out, now covered in saliva. He draws a bucket with his saliva on the ground around the ripped rail piece. With the snap of his right hand, a napkin appears above the hand. Vin takes it and cleans his left index finger, removing the saliva. He then makes the napkin disappear.

Vin puts his arms out and flips his palms up. A magical blue aura engulfs his hands. He shoots the aura at the bucket drawing and rail piece. The drawing and piece turn into one real metal bucket. Vin summons the soaked napkin back and has it floating above the bucket. Motioning his hands like he is pressing it, the napkin leaks out purified water into the bucket.

Vin grabs the bucket and simply dumps the water onto Yves. Feeling a cold sensation, Yves wakes up and looks to her left to see the vampire king standing near her.

"What the heck Vin? Couldn't you just tap me to wake me up? Yves wondered as she squeezes her black hair to get water out of it.

"What happened?" Vin asked, getting to the point with a serious tone. "Have you looked at yourself in a mirror?"

"No," Yves answered, done squeezing her hair. She tries to get out of the stretcher, but the battle damage she took from Ingrid is too much. So, she just lays back down.

"With injuries like these, it surprises me the hosts you told me allowed you to stay. Since I was informed injuries like these take a contestant out of the competition," Vin stated, examining once again the dancer's conditional situation.

"I was persistent on them letting me stay until the morning so you can heal me now," Yves said, looking at the roof of the tent. "Vin, I'm scared. I had to face a hallucination of myself caused by some Ringleader freak. Then I fought against an Ingrid from another world. If the orb does not get restored soon, I don't know how much I can keep up facing enemies of mine and people I don't know."

"Well, there is good news. The red crystals we encounter in the caverns for my consumption have healed my wound at an outstanding rate," Vin brought up, still having a poker expression. "My strength should be fully restored in two days. Which will allow me to finish fixing the orb."

"Awesome," Yves exclaimed happily. "Then we can get out of here. The enemies I have faced will go back to their own worlds, right?"

"Yes, as long as I give the correct spell the orb will fix our mess," Vin confirmed, no longer looking at Yves.

"Great, now heal me," Yves said. She closes her eyes and sighs happily. Feeling nothing has happened, she opens her eyes. "Um, Vin, did you heal me?"

"No," Vin stated.

"Then do it already," Yves joked then laughs. "I have to be in shape so I can continue competing tomorrow."

"Yves…"

"Because we both know if I leave the island, I will be put in jeopardy by my enemies wanting me dead," The dancer added.

"Yves…"

"Plus, you wouldn't know my location," Yves continued.

"I cannot heal you," Vin calmly said.

Yves' eyes widen in fear. "Wha-what do you mean you cannot heal me? Your wound is practically gone." She gets into a sitting position on the stretcher and looks at the vampire. "You must be able to cast healing spells now."

"Dear child, if I could use my healing spells, wouldn't you think I would have used them already on my wound?" Vin pointed out, keeping a calm composure. "I cannot heal you."

Yves tries to say something. A retort? A shout? A different plan? Nothing comes out of her mouth.

"Why are you tranquil about this?" Yves wondered on the verge of crying. "I can barely move my body. Being like this I'm sure to get medically evacuated in the morning. I don't want to die here Vin. I suffered too much to not go back and be home. I miss my life there. I miss Knick."

"Wipe those tears," Vin said to his companion.

Yves does as the vampire told by using her arms to wipe away the tears.

Vin briefly focuses on Yves' neck before heading out of the tent.

"Vin? Vin? Please don't leave me," Yves pleaded, almost about to cry again.

Vin quickly returns with a teacup with some liquid in it.

"I cannot use any healing spells, but there is a way we can have you stay on the island," Vin found a possibility as he approaches Yves.

Yves grabs the teacup from Vin and looks at the liquid. "Guess is having to deal with this tea?"

Vin looks at her and turns away saying, "Yes". What Yves does not know is that he lied.

Yves is too focused on wanting her health restored and drinks the tea. All of a sudden, she feels sleepy.

"You know Vin, maybe we should talk more tomorrow night," Yves admitted. She yawns, lays on the stretcher, and goes to sleep joyfully.

Now that the dancer is sleeping, Vin turns into a swarm of bats and leaves the tent. He gazes at the night sky and observes the full moon shining bright. He goes back into the infirmary tent in his vampire form. He stands next to the sleeping Yves and looks at her neck once again.

King Vinoripmav has a frown on his face. He does not want to do this, but it is their only option to make sure everything turns out beneficial.
