Thank you guys so much for your patience in waiting for an upload. Holiday season is crazy and I work in a job that is SUPER stressful during this time so writing fell at the wayside alittle. But i am happy to be back.
Thank you so much LoveAngel5952 for the lovely message you sent me! Really appreciate it.
I hope you all enjoy the story! Don't forget to favorite/follow/review!
Disclaimer: I do not claim ownership of Descendants. Only Belladonna!
Understandably the three boys were shocked at what I had told them. Ben looked down right horrified.
"Peter Pan killed Captain Hook?" Ben repeated, his voice uncharacteristically small for the boy I had come to know.
"3 years ago. Ever since I can remember, Peter Pan has come to the Isle and teased and tortured everyone he could at the Docks. Hook tried to stop it as much as he could. Never liked how Pan was picking on people so much weaker than the magical immortal boy." I said, standing up. I wasn't able to sit when thinking of that day. Maleficent had needed something from Ursula so she had sent me to collect it.
"Then Peter Pan tried to kidnap Harry Hook, make him into a Lost Boy. Course he didn't count on not being able to convince Harry like he had so many other boys. Harry fought enough that his dad and crew came to his rescue. Hook and Pan fought and Pan landed a fatal blow when Hook was distracted by Harry nearly being taken anyway by Pan's shadow. Hook fell into the water...We never found his body. One of the crocodiles must have taken it or something...Pan flew off and we haven't seen him on the Isle since." I said, crossing my arms into myself.
My heart felt for Harry Hook that day. I have never seen the boy so weak and so heartbroken. No one ever saw that side of him again either.
"I'm sorry. I can assure you no one in Auradon had any idea. If I had known-"
"You'd do what Ben? Get justice for a villain?" Chad sneered, interrupting him.
"I should think in this story, the immortal man child who tried kidnapping a defenseless boy and then killed a father for sport is the villain. Not the other way around. Supposed villains are capable of good just as supposed heroes are capable of bad." I swiftly dealt to Chad, leaving no room for debate.
There was no debate to be had when one was right.
"Lay off Chad. Be diplomatic or princely for once why don't you?" Xavier cut in as Chad went to speak. The boy shut his mouth and slumped into the couch pouting.
"Ben where is Peter Pan anyway?" Xavier then turned to the Prince.
"As far as anyone knows he is still in Neverland. I'll have to discuss this with my father. This is a criminal matter, just because Hook was a villain on the Isle doesn't mean this isn't a crime." Ben said, getting out of his bed and going to his desk to write something down.
"After we end our meeting today I'll escort you back to your dorm Belladonna and head straight to my parents. I promise." he swore to me.
"I believe you Ben. Thank you." I said genuinely.
I stayed there for an hour, going back and forth between the three boys as we discussed the debate. While Ben was going to his parents to report what I had said, he didn't want it revealed to the public til after the debate.
He called it strategy. I called it good politics. It would mean any trial would precede into his own Kingship which would mean a strong example of new leadership almost immediately after his coronation. I told him as such.
"It's just doing the right thing. Not putting the people into a panic." he replied.
"You have to understand, you are going to be King though. Everything you do will have to have politics in mind. The world is fickle, which I believe we are all beginning to see. Or have seen." I said. He could only nod.
After about an hour of talking, Chad deemed himself too tired to go on and stormed off before anyone could say goodbye.
"I guess we're all heading out. Uh nice working with you Belladonna. See you around eh?" Xavier said as he was leaving. He sent me a smile that I guess was supposed to be charming but it only made me hold in a laugh.
"She's gay Xavier." Ben deadpanned.
"I can't help my charming self Prince Ben." Xavier teased as he left the room.
"Sorry about him," Ben said, getting his jacket back on.
"Oh he's harmless." I said. And my brother. Ew.
As we were walking back to the dorm, Ben posed another question.
"Belladonna...can I ask something personal? About Evie?"
It made me pause in my walking. I gave him a look but more of hesitation because we had never really discussed Evie before.
"Go ahead." I said.
"How did you like know? About...being in love with Evie?" he asked. Oh.
I gave him a smile to show I wasn't upset about that question.
"Well. On the Isle you couldn't really let any emotions factor into public life. Me and Evie would only kiss once a week, just to make sure her mother could never find out. But alot of the times we would sneak off to the Docks. We had this place. One day we were just sitting there, talking about the future. What we could do off the Isle… And she put her head on my shoulder and just...turned her head just right so her face was against my neck. And i just...knew. I knew I loved her and I would do anything for her no matter the cost. As long as I could be with her and she wanted to be with me." I explained.
Ben had a soft look in his eyes.
"Wow." he said.
"Are you questioning things with Audrey?" I asked. He hesitated and I could see conflict in his eyes.
"I've known Audrey all my life. And everyone just kind of expected us to be together and now I'm becoming King which means I should be getting more serious with her and present her as mine in a social setting like Cotillion, but the very thought of that makes me...nauseous." Ben rambled.
"Well...if Audrey is what's expected. Do the unexpected." I said, hiding a smile. I had a sneaking suspicion that maybe our own arrival had something to do with it too. But I'll hold my tongue for now.
We made it to my dorm and I knocked on the door, just to make sure they wouldn't be discussing anything mission wise with Ben so close.
Mal swung the door open, wide-eyed. So they must have been.
"D! Ben?" She said.
"Donna!" Evie said from somewhere in the room before appearing at the doorway and pulling me in past Mal. Instantly I had arms full of Evie who pressed a long kiss against my lips. I gently wrapped my arms around her as I soaked in the love and comfort her kiss gave me.
Yeah. I loved Evie.
"Hey Mal. I didn't see you guys today and so I'm just letting you know if you have any questions or if you guys need anything I'd be happy to help. With anything." Ben stumbled over his words.
Evie and I parted from our kiss and her nose rubbed up against mine, her eyes were still closed.
"Missed you." she whispered.
"Missed you." I said back.
"Wait Ben! Is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?" Mal asked. I turned to look at the boys and saw Carlos stare at me sheepishly.
Oh yeah. I didn't get to mention it to her before. Welp.
"Yeah the whole school goes." Ben said, giving her a smile.
"Wow. That is beyond amazing. Do you think that it's a possibility that the four of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother? To soak up all that goodness?" Mal tried to negotiate.
Ben's smile faltered.
"I wish you could. Up front it's just me, my advisor, their family, my folks, and my girlfriend." Ben replied.
Uh oh. Mal got a look in her eyes that I knew very well.
"Oh ok thanks bye!" Mal said with fake cheer and closed the door in the prince's face before he could say anything else. She let out a devious smirk and her eyes flashed green.
"I think it's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend." she announced. We all shared a smirk back. I thought that was a wonderful idea.
"And I need a love spell." she said, holding out her hands for her mother's book to be tossed to her.
To be honest, if we had more time I don't think she would need a love spell to woo Ben. But time was of the essence, and if i played it right, it still shouldn't blow up in our face too terribly.
Hopefully.
We snuck our way down to the kitchen but not before I got them all to dress in their pajamas. If we were still fully clothed in the middle of the night it might seem suspicious. But in pajamas, it's as if we were making a late night snack.
So the boys were in sweatpants and tshirts. Mal was in purple sweatpants and a black tank top. I was in black silk pajamas and Evie was in a blue silk nightgown and a warm blue robe with matching slippers. Her custom crown was still on her head but her hair was pulled up along with it.
"All right. It says that we still need one tear, and I never cry." Mal read as Evie was mixing the dough together. I was sitting on top of the counter watching her hard at work.
"Let's just chop up some onions." Carlos suggested, holding up one.
"No! It says that we need one tear of human sadness. And this love potion gets the best reviews so we have to follow it exactly." Mal insisted.
"A tears a tear!" Jay protested. Evie spoke up, batting the hand I was using to play with her hair away.
"That's not true, Jay. They both have antibodies and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear."
Everyone stared at her for a moment before I sighed. they all turned to me.
"Beauty and brains." I praised. she beamed at me and gave me a quick kiss.
All of a sudden Lonnie burst into the kitchen making Mal hide the book before they all stood quite straight and quite guilty looking. I just held in a laugh.
"There you are Mal! I was looking for you. You know, all the girls want you to do their hair." she said, walking closer to us.
She leaned on the counter to see the bowl.
"Midnight snack huh? What you guys making?" she asked.
"Nothing special. Just cookies." Mal brushed off, but quite freaked out when Lonnie dipped her finger in the bowl for a taste!
"What?" Lonnie asked, seeing everyone's freaked out looks, mine included. I didn't know what a half made spell was going to do to the girl.
"I'm not gonna double dip." she defended herself.
"Feeling anything?" Evie asked.
"Woozy, dizzy, light headed?" I continued before Evie elbowed my side.
"Or maybe like something is missing?" Mal said through gritted teeth and a fake smile. Jay on the other hand strutted over to her and got in her face with a very charming and flirtatious smile.
"Hey there."
She stared at him for a moment before saying, "It could use some chips."
"Chips?" he asked, confused.
"And those are…?" Mal asked.
"Chocolate chips. Just the most important food group." Lonnie said cheerfully, going into one of the fridges to take out a bowl of chocolate chips. She then saw all of our blank stares.
"Wait, didn't your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies?" she asked. I grabbed onto Evie's hand because I could feel her energy sink. I felt all of us sink as Lonnie continued.
"Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big old glass of milk, and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and...why are you all looking at me like that?" she asked as she realized we all were looking down at ourselves.
I thought about stuff like that when I was little. When I was told the truth about my real mom and dad. What I could have been like was something I thought about for years. The hugs and kisses and comforts we all had missed on trapped on the Isle with the only family we had that often forgot about us, scheming for things we couldn't understand as children. The VK's had each other and that was it.
"It's just different where we're from." Mal said, absentmindedly stirring the bowl.
"Yeah, I know. I just, you know, I thought...Even villains love their kids -"
"Lonnie" I cut in. Stern. She looked at me wide-eyed.
"Best stop." I said quietly, rubbing my thumb across Evie's hand.
"...Oh...How awful." Lonnie whimpered out, a tear falling down her cheek. Mal quickly took that tear and threw it in the bowl.
"Yeah well big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by. Really, really have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow. Evil dreams." Mal said with that grin plastered on her face. The grin she gave when she was trying to hide everything inside.
One of these days that grin was going to break apart. But we would be here for her.
We got the cookies finished and bagged up before heading back up to our dorms. Evie was very silent as we both got into bed.
I wrapped my arms around her and pulled Evie in tight as we lied there for a few minutes.
"Hey Belladonna...When we have kids. Can we make them cookies?" Evie whispered to me.
"We can do it every night." I promised, my heart warming at the thought of kids with Evie.
That's a future I would really like to see.
Thank you guys so much! Happy Holiday Season!
