Hmm when I originally wrote this I wasn't too sure where this would go. Anyway I didn't want to make another story for this and would only clutter things. Anyway this is a two-parter with the second one will be in Passion due to it's sexual content.

This is just a flip of the situation of Souji having to be away rather than Naoto. While she's more than capable of doing everything on her own, sometimes you just have those weekends where you really miss someone. Yeah I can relate.

This pair of stories was a request for Zanmat0.

Separated Pair:

"So when are you planning to be back again Souji-kun?" Naoto asked into the phone. She could hear Souji chuckle from the other side which only made her frown.

"I'll be back in a couple days, this feel trip is gonna take us to the mountains for classes. It's just like last year. There is nothing to worry about Naoto." His reasoning was logically sound but it only made her frown bigger.

"I know but I was at a case last year, so we were both out, the house feels strange without you here." She blushed as she involuntarily declared how much she missed him. A hearty laugh came through the receiver yet again.

"Now you know how I feel." The dig was made in good taste but it instantly made her feel guilty knowing that for once the roles were reversed. Plus she's a Shirogane, she's not so weak that she's directionless for the next couple days without her significant other.

"Souji-kun!" She wailed bringing out a third laugh, this time not trying to mask that it was bringing him to tears. After a moment when he finally got control of himself.

"Alright, alright. I'll be back in a couple days I promise. I'll keep sending you pictures and messages during my trip so it's like you're here with me." That brought a smile to the Sleuth's face.

"Thanks Souji-kun. I just miss you that's all." She noticed Souji paused before her replied, normally this meant that he was caught off guard with embarrassment.

"I miss you too my Princess. I don't know what I would do without you." Naoto's blush deepened.

"Yes my love. I love you, I really do."

"Love you too. I'll send you pictures of when we arrive. Over and out." Naoto subconsciously gripped the handset slightly harder.

"Take care Souji." With that, the network beep replaced the joyous voice her boyfriend as Naoto's let the phone linger against the side of her face. Finally forced to let go, she sighed knowing she was overreacting. The timing of Souji's trip was awful because she had a string of cases back to back and she was finally looking forward to curling up with him for a long week off but she's had to delay the plan until the Sunday.

"I should finish the figures that Souji got me for White Day."

Throughout the day Naoto kept her private mobile incredibly close, normally within grab's reach. Each message from Souji, she hung on to every word, and commented on every picture he sent over. She couldn't help but coo and the cute pictures he had taken with some of the younger kids crowding around him. She was almost jealous at how much company he was with while she had to patiently wait for him to come home to her.

The first night went painfully slow, being in her habitat but not having the same bed routine was hard. She ate dinner late, being too distracted by Souji's messages, she couldn't help but phone him before going to bed. She half expected him to reject the call knowing how hard it is to get a moment away to answer it in private. Surprisingly her disappointment was crushed when in a hushed whisper he greeted her from the other side of the call.

"Souji-kun!" Her voice jumped an octave, happy to hear from her favourite person. Her neutral work voice all forgotten as her inner lady spread it's wings in greeting him.

"Hey hey, is everything ok?" Souji asked in a hushed whisper. She could tell he was happy to hear from her but his quiet tone instantly caused her brain to send a message to the rest of her body to reign in the excitement a bit.

"Everything is fine. Do you have a moment to talk?" The moment of silence kept Naoto on edge as she waited for his reply. Her hand tensed around the phone, regretting to call him impulsively when he could be busy.

"I'm good, I just have to keep my voice down, all the kids are asleep in the other rooms but the walls are really thin, heh."

Naoto let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Good good, I didn't want to disturb, so if you need to go just let me know."

"No no, it's fine. I was wondering if something is wrong since you never call me around this time. Let me guess, can't sleep in our bed without hearing my voice." Naoto thought about answering it honestly, but was worried that he would laugh.

"Yes I am."

His voice turned solemn. "If I knew the trip would be this harsh on you I would have made sure I made enough good food to last while I was gone to distract you."

It was enough to make her giggle, to partially forget the distance. The idea in itself was great.

"I appreciate it Souji-kun but I can cope without you, it's just this trip feels different." She heard the creek of the of the floor thought the phone, she assumed that he's just leaning back now.

"Ah, I'd rather not be the source of any negative feelings, is there anything I can do to help?" Naoto only hummed, holding the phone closer.

In a breathily whisper. "Just make sure you stay safe and come home. That's all I'll ever ask for."

Souji seemingly hummed himself, accepting it as the only answer that makes logical sense.

"I'll do that, I'll stop short of wrapping myself in cling film because I need to interact with the kids still." That brought another giggle from the Sleuth as she sunk back into the bed, her spirits lifted from the calming and humours logic of her boyfriend.

"Thanks Souji. Please keep me updated."

"Always." A small smile appeared on her lips.

"I love you, sleep well."

"You too Princess. Love you with all my heart."

"I would hope you do." With that the phone bleeped as their connection was severed, only leaving the gentle hum of the internal electronics in Naoto's ear.

"God I miss this fool." She said to no one in particular, still surprised how hung up she was without her plus one.

For Naoto, she had a restless night, her dreams were vivid and kept her half awake, her body expecting Souji to surprise her in the middle of the night. She knew it was completely impossible and not going to happen, and the logical part of her mind was saying it was preposterous that anything like that would happen. Alas all she could do is wait for the Monday morning for when he arrives.

Unfortunately the Sunday was the complete opposite in communication between the two. While Naoto had her phone on her all the time but it barely vibrated. She got a warning from Souji pretty early on in the morning that the schedule of the day changed and it got a hell of a lot more hectic for the day now. That didn't stop her from hanging on to every letter of his text, regardless of how sparse they were. She started to take the initiative by sending pictures of her day, a documented play by play to help distract him from the stress of the kids he was looking after. She made pictures of her lunch, the current figures she was building, the notes of her current case and then mundane things like tidying.

It wasn't until around 8pm when she stepped out of the shower, her phone buzzed again with the personalised tone she set for her significant other. A mix of excitement and concerned graced her features as she picked up the handset.

"Sorry my Princess I've been so silent. The kids has been extra active today and the needed all hands on deck. All the pictures and messages have been lovely and it just makes me wish I was at home. I can't wait to get back home and be in your arms again. I love you and I think about you every couple minutes in my mind."

As Naoto's eyes scanned the message her eyes welled up a little. Quickly taking notice, she rubbed her eyes quickly before rereading the message.

"You idiot, sending me sweet things like this..." She placed the phone next to her forehead for a moment as images of Souji flooded into her brain. "I'm acting like I haven't seen him in months, I need to pull myself together and I'm seeing him tomorrow too."

She gently shook her head as she adjusted her towel. She will make him pay for having these feels. She could simply send a loving but snarky reply but she would rather make him remember what he was missing from home. Her brain quickly scanned for possible ideas but drew a blank on her initial search. It wasn't until she saw her full body mirror where her mind pinged and the cogs in her brain lined up with the perfect idea. She grinned evilly knowing exactly what she could do to make his evening.

-Elsewhere-

Souji was laying in a futon with inside a resort with in the nearby mountains. The room was silent outside of the gentle snore of Sugiyama-Sensei who slept a few meters away from him across the room. It's now 10pm with the only light in the darkness swallowing the room his phone as he quietly answered e-mails and checked in with the former investigation team through their group chat. One thing he noticed was Naoto being suspiciously silent over group chat. While she didn't talk too often in general, she's usually a lot more active when he was away. Looking at her Line profile, she hadn't been active since she sent him a run down on her dinner earlier that evening.

-Buzz Buzz-

Souji looked on curiously as a new message under Naoto came up. raising an eye brow at the fact that the message preview was the start to a URL seemingly linked to their house's private server. For a minute he thought that someone must have gotten into their system and used Naoto's phone for phishing purposes. Considering that cyber security was a massive part of the Shirogane Estate budget, that couldn't have been the case. Cautiously he opened the message, seeing a small note attached at the bottom.

'Sorry about the security, just need to make sure no one else can get this.'

Ok, now Souji's curiosity went through the roof. Souji tapped the URL briefly opening up his phone's web browser before quickly changing to a homebrew server navigator application both he and Naoto had on their phone devices to send sensitive information. A small password authenticator came up with a secret question which Souji filled out by muscle memory. He quickly put a note on in the back of his head to change it because he's gotten so comfortable with it now.

Once he got into the file browser there was only one folder in there, locked with a password question. Souji shifted in his futon on his side, finding this a lot more interesting than he first thought. He tapped on the folder and a small prompt came up.

'What day is the most important day between us?'

Souji thought for a moment, knowing Naoto she wanted it to be something easy because she wanted him to get the message but it's only something the two of them remembered. After a moment of pondering he typed the date when he first confessed to her. The question disappeared in an instant replaced with a green tick that it was a correct. The folder then activated to a set of pictures and a small 15 second video from the file description. There was no file preview either so he had to open up the pictures to see them. After a second of loading, the picture came up which made his eyes bulge wide in surprise. Quickly he swiped through the others seeing if what his eyes were seeing was true. After only seeing around 4 of them, the theme of them were all too clear. He went back to the first file to take his time in inspecting it before moving back to the others. Promptly, Souji turned down his media player audio for when he got to the video, knowing this wasn't something his colleague needed to hear.

-Souji & Naoto's Home-

Naoto was just getting ready for bed, putting a book down on the bedside table when her phone went off. She grabbed it wondering what her significant other's response was. His replay caused her to laugh heartedly, as her cheeks warmed in memory of what she sent.

'Thanks now I can't sleep. I'll see you tomorrow my love.'

For her it couldn't come any quicker, and hopefully she brought him to the same level of anticipation she was at now.

'Welcome to my world. I'll make it worthwhile tomorrow. I promise.'

Her typing that made her feel so bold. Only a few hours was in the way of their reunion.
