Chapter 2: Broken
Silence. Only silence filled the house. No one dared to speak just because of the scene that just unfolded in front of their eyes. If it were a dream, they would've woken up in an instant. Every sister was either shocked or sad. But they all knew this silence wasn't gonna last forever. Someone had to say something. They just didn't know who was gonna start.
That's when Lori spoke up.
"I-I can't believe it..." Lori stammered through tears. "We just made Lincoln run away. Why? Why would we do this? It doesn't make any sense."
"Yeah, why would Linky just take off like that?" Leni stated.
"Dudes, do you think it was s-something we did?" Luna questioned
They all pondered on this for a moment. They all loved Lincoln very much, so it was very odd when Lincoln ran away. Lincoln wasn't the type to usually get angry. If something or someone got on his nerves, he would usually brush it off, or ignore it. But when they all remembered what Lincoln said, they all realized why Lincoln ran away.
It wasn't because of him or any personal problems. Or heck, it didn't even have to do with his friends like Clyde or Ronnie Anne. It was all because of one of thing.
And that one thing, were the sisters themselves.
After realizing this, they all started to break down. Not a single face was dry in any way. It felt like a semi truck just rammed into their hearts, it felt like a bat being swung against their heads. It felt like nothing but pain and sorrow. They all felt guiltily for what they've done. But they're not sure if Lincoln would forgive him. Or if he would even come back at all. But they knew they had to do something about it.
"Dudes, what are we gonna do now?" Luna asked through tears.
"I-I don't know Luna..." Lori said. "I think we should all wait until Mom and Dad get home so we can tell them about what happened."
Oh no. They completely forgot about their mom and dad. The reason they weren't home was because they had to run a few errands, and just knowing that they were gonna have to tell their mom and dad just made them more sad then they were.
"No. NO! You can't tell mommy and daddy! What if we get in trouble?"
Lola was right. Despite only being 7 (this takes place in Season 5) she still had common sense and knew what kind of trouble they could be in if their mom and dad found out.
"But Lola..." Lori said, "It doesn't matter if we do or don't tell them. They're gonna notice that Lincoln is missing and we'll have to tell them either way."
"I know, it's just...it's just..." Lola cried into Lori's arms. "IT'S JUST I WANT OUR LINKY BACK! I DIDN'T WANT HIM TO LEAVE US! IT'S ALL MY FAULT! IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME! IT SHOULD'VE BEEN MEEEEE!
Lola just kept on crying in Lori's arms and Lori just continued to comfort Lola until she could compose herself again. After 15 minutes, Lola was back to her old self again.
"Do you think we'll be able to find Lincoln?" Lola questioned.
"I...I don't know Lola, I don't know." Lori said nervously.
Lori was always seen as the oldest, which she was, and was also seen as the boss of the house when mom and dad went somewhere. But today Lori didn't feel like the oldest sibling. She felt like the youngest. And all she wanted, was her brother back.
Nothing in this moment could really cheer them up. What could they even do to get their mind off of what just happened. Nothing. Nothing at all. If the sisters weren't depressed before, then they sure are now. And with the fact that their parents could be home at any moment, really unnerved them.
"I guess we might as well sit on the couch while we wait." Lynn suggested.
And even though none of them wanted to face what was coming to them, they knew they had no other choice. So it was either that, or nothing.
"F-fine!" Lori blurted out. "W-we'll go sit on the couch and wait."
They all headed out of Lincoln's room and went to sit on the couch. One of them noticed that the clock hit 5 PM.
"Oh no..." they all said.
That was the time that their father always headed home for work. He wasn't a busy guy or anything, but when you have 11 children, you need a good paying job. And Lynn Sr sure did get a good job. His job pays him 25 an hour, so he gets around his office and rarely slacks off. Besides that one time where it was Bring Your Daughter To Work Day and he kinda had too much fun being there. He still feels bad about what happened and hopes that one day he could bring Lincoln to a Bring Your Son To Work Day. But that would be for another time.
As he pulled into the driveway, he took noticed of the lack of lights in the house, and acknowledge that fact that no one was outside, which confused him greatly.
"I wonder if the kids are not home. I hope not. I'll just have to see." Lynn Sr thought.
As he approached the front door, he also heard no sound at all through the house. Now this is just getting out of hand. Lynn Sr knew his kids weren't this silent. He knew he had to do something about it. So without any further hesitation, he opened the door.
creeeeeak
Lynn Sr poked his head through the door, only to see all his daughters sitting on the couch.
"Oh hey kids!" Lynn Sr exclaimed. "How are ya?"
"Great..." they all said unenthusiastically.
Lynn Sr noticed this and asked the hard-hitting question:
"What's wrong?"
They all knew it was coming, and yet they still feel scared. Nobody spoke for about a minute, until Lynn Sr said something else.
"C'mon kids you can tell me anything. Remember? I'm Papa Loud!" He said
They all looked at each other for a little while until all eyes set on Lori.
Lori wasn't ready to take any action with her father. She knew what was gonna happen, but she knew it had to be done. So with a little preparation. She took a deep breath and made an audible gulp.
"D-dad." Lori said nervously.
"Yes, honey?" Lynn Sr questioned.
All the sisters were ready for the inevitable. A few were scared, others were shaking, and some just wanted to get out of this situation so badly. But they couldn't. They had to face their fears. They had to face their father.
"W-w-we made L-Lincoln run away." Lori said.
