Chapter 7: To Find A Loud

It was early in the morning, and the day couldn't get any worse. For Rita that is.

The room was securely locked, and any sight of light was nowhere to be found. Rita was lying down on her bed, facing the bland wall that seemed to just make her more bored than ever. She had been sulking all day because of what happened the day before. She wasn't the one to get quick with anger, but for some reason, something just clicked that made her go crazy.

She didn't mean to yell at her daughters. Far from it. She was just very worried about Lincoln and feared that the sisters were to blame, considering that a lot of the time they would bicker and argue and never seem to get along. But whenever Rita heard the news from Lori about what they had done, it just set her into a fast rage. But she had to admit, she really did go too far with her words.

She now felt like complete and utter trash about the words that came out of her mouth. She never thought that those words would ever be uttered at all. But yet, she still said them. And she really wished that she didn't.

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

That was the only words that played back into her mind, like a broken record. She was scared that she said those words to her daughters, her only daughters. Now, she had to pay the price. She felt like her daughters would never speak to her again. In fact, that's what she was hoping for, considering she told them to never speak to her again.

That's when all of this pressure, all of this guilt, all of this regret started to eat up Rita, and she couldn't take it no more.

Rita proceeded to break down in the middle of her room, with the sole exception of a few sniffles and snorts here and there. Rita had already cried the day before, she didn't need to dry out her eyes again. Yet, she still did. And she let all of that sadness out of her system.

After a good few minutes of getting all of the tears out, she heard a knock on her door.

Knock Knock

She was very nervous about who or what it was. She immediately thought it was one of the girls, but she quickly shot down that idea, considering that most of the sisters don't knock the door. They merely open it. So the girls were out of the question. But then she had another idea. What if? What if Lincoln was standing nice and tall in front of her door? It's a possibility, and Rita was taking any chances

Then, without any hesitation, she pulled open the door as far as she could to reveal the one and only...

Lynn Sr.

"Hey honey." Lynn Sr said tirelessly.

Rita didn't know it was her own husband that would be at her door, but nonetheless she answered.

"Hey Lynn, what's wrong?" Rita asked, still a bit sad after crying for so long.

"Well, apparently our girls have planned an idea for finding Lincoln." Lynn Sr said. He had been listening on their conversation, so it was only a matter of time before word got out.

"Oh, really?" Rita questioned, unsure if what she was hearing was true or not. "I haven't heard from any of them since...well, y'know"

"Yeah, I know." Lynn Sr admitted. He didn't really want to be reminded for the events that occurred not too long ago. But he could faintly see a single tear forming in his wife's eyes, and he didn't like to see her cry, so he decided on making her feel better.

"But, it's not your fault" Lynn Sr assured Rita, placing his right hand on her shoulder. "You we're just in the heat of the moment, and you needed to cool off, even if you really yelled at our daughters."

"But that's the thing Lynn!" Rita retorted. "I was so careless that I failed to notice what words were coming out of my mouth. And now, I feel like my girls hate me now."

"Now Rita, never say that they hate you. You know they don't. Maybe they were just, surprised that they heard you say those words. I don't think you ever meant to actually use those words, did you?"

"Well no, but I still shouldn't have said it in the first place. And remember what I said Lynn, I said that I would never speak to them again. What kind of mother would say that?" Rita started to form a few tears in her eyes.

"Listen, I know that a mother should never say anything like that to her kids, but you clearly never meant to hurt them. It was just something you happened to say. Besides, I think the girls would understand."

"Are you sure? Are you really sure Lynn? They might not want to talk to me after what I said to them. I know you said that I didn't mean to say it, but I still feel like...like..."

Rita was trying to hold in her tears. She didn't want to show her husband her true feelings. She thought that she had to be in charge and that she was suppose to help or resolve any issue that goes on in the house. But now, all she felt like was crying.

"Rita, just tell me what you need to tell me." Lynn Sr said, this time in a more calm and soothing tone.

That's when Rita couldn't take it anymore. All the guilt, sadness, and fear was all too much for her to handle. If she hold it in for longer, she felt like she was gonna burst like a dam. So she decided it was time. Time for her real emotions to come out of her.

"I FEEL LIKE A TERRIBLE MOTHER!" Rita yelled, crying hysterically and just letting out all of her pent up tears flow free, while Lynn Sr just gave her a hug and rubbed her back in a smooth little circle for comfort.

As Rita kept on wailing, she eventually was able to let out all the tears and was able to compose herself.

"Thank you Lynn. Thank you for being there for me, even in my darkest times. And thank you for helping me see that what I said, wasn't all my fault." Rita thanked Lynn Sr, still sniffing here and there after crying for so long and so hard.

"Hey, don't mention it. I'm just trying to look out for my wife. And that's why we're married right?" Lynn Sr said, lightly poking Rita's nose causing her to let out a slight giggle.

"Indeed you're right." Rita remarked, as both her and Lynn Sr shared a kiss for what seemed like minutes until they eventually broke free from the kiss.

"Wait Lynn " Rita said, still a bit stunned after the kiss. "If you told me you grounded the girls, how come they said they were gonna go find Lincoln, which meant they were gonna leave the house?"

That's when the realization hit Lynn Sr. He did tell them that they couldn't leave the house. And upon hearing from Rita that they were gonna leave to go find Lincoln, he had to tell them that they couldn't leave without asking first.

So after saying bye to his wife, Lynn Sr made a mad dash to the living room to look for his daughters.

They weren't there.

So he decided to head upstairs in hopes of finding them there.

They also weren't there.

So Lynn Sr decided on looking through the entire house. Left and right, up and down, far and wide In hopes of finding even a trace of the girls. But, he didn't.

So his only idea now was that they had already left in search for Lincoln.

That's when Lynn had an idea that even if it sounded challenging, he was gonna do it no matter what. And that was what he was going to do.

He was gonna go find Lincoln himself.

So Lynn Sr made his way back down the stairs and opened up the front door, only to be greeted by no vehicle in sight.

"Dang it, they must've already took Vanzilla. Remind me to buy Lori her own car very soon" Lynn Sr thought to himself.

As Lynn Sr was left wondering on how to go find Lincoln, Mr Grouse, Lynn Sr's neighbor was taking his trash out when he noticed him.

"Oh hey Loud." Mr Grouse said In that mocking tone of his that Lynn Sr never liked.

"Oh dear here he comes..." Lynn Sr said to himself.

"I went to go take my trash out, and I couldn't help but notice that your car is missing. Did you forget to pay for car insurance again?"

"No! That was last month." Lynn Sr said. "Anyways, why are you talking to me out of all days? Aren't you busy doing whatever you do?"

"Well, usually I would ignore you right now and go do what I usually do, but I couldn't help but notice you're in a bit of a pickle."

"Yeah, my son ran away from home and I'm trying to go look for him, but since Vanzilla is gone I can't do that."

"Your son?" Mr. Grouse was confused for a moment.

"Yes, my son. It was heartbreaking news to me when my daughters told me about it, I just couldn't take it. That's why I was trying to go find him."

"Hmmm, wasn't his name Tommy or something?"

"It's Lincoln."

"Close enough!" Mr Grouse argued.

"Anyways, why are you here?" Lynn Sr wondered.

"Well, I decided that since you don't have a car, and I know you want your son back, I've decided that you can borrow my car free of charge. Next time, it'll cost you though." Mr. Grouse said.

"Really! You'll do that? For me?"

"Of course! But, be sure to bring it back."

"I will. Thank you so much, Mr. Grouse!"

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Just go find your son and bring my car back so I can drive to the store. I really need my bread. I'm almost out of it."

"Sure can do Mr. Grouse!" Lynn Sr exclaimed.

As Lynn Sr drove off he was proud and excited, knowing that maybe. Just maybe, he'll find his son and things can go back the way they were.

Hopefully.
