Chapter 9: A New Journey
Lynn Sr was making twists and turns as he was speeding through almost every red light trying to make it to Great Lakes City. It's not often that he drives Vanzilla, since Lori has her license and usually drives herself. But considering this was a major problem, Lynn Sr thought it would be best for him to drive instead of Lori.
Every other sister, minus Lori, was sitting in the back seats of the car.
Lori was just paying attention to the road, in case Lynn Sr swerve or ran another red light.
Leni was too busy paying mind, since she was occupying herself by brushing her hair.
Luna put some headphones on and listened to Mick Swagger to ease the tension she was feeling at the disappearance of her brother.
Luan just told herself some jokes in order to pass the time.
Lynn was practicing football, basketball, baseball, etc. not before being interrupted by her dad to knock it off.
Lucy was just sitting down quietly not making a noise. She was too focused on finding her brother.
Lana and Lola were bickering and arguing like usual before being scolded at by Lynn Sr. Afterwards, they stopped altogether.
Lisa, much like Lucy, was sitting down and saying nothing. But unlike Lucy, Lisa was thinking of ideas on how to find Lincoln without looking for him in the city, but she decided to skip that for now.
And Lily was sitting on Leni's lap, snoozing peacefully.
All of a sudden, the car made a high-pitched noise signaling the car needed more gas.
"Uh oh." Lynn Sr said.
"What's wrong dad?" Lori asked.
"Look." Lynn Sr said showing Lori the 'F' symbol on the dashboard glowing red.
"Aw man, we're almost out of gas." Lori retorted.
"Gas?" Lana said while stifling a laugh.
"Yes, gas" Lynn Sr begrudgingly said.
"BAHAHAHAHA! I'M SORRY, THAT WAS JUST TOO FUNNY I COULDN'T HOLD IT IN HAHAHA!" Lana said, trying to calm herself down in the process.
"Geez Lana calm down, it's just gas." Lola firmly told Lana.
"I know, I know, but you gotta admit, that was pretty funny!"
"I guess." Lola said with a slight smirk forming on her lips.
"Guys look!" Lori said, pointing her finger out. "There's a gas station up ahead!"
"Sweet! Thanks for looking out Lori." Lynn Sr thanked Lori.
"No problem."
As Lynn Sr made his way into the gas station, he noticed not a single car was in sight, which greatly confused him considering the time of day.
"Hey Lori, check your phone and tell me what time it is?" Lynn Sr asked Lori.
"Sure thing. It's uhhh...5:00 PM"
"Huh, strange. Usually there would be people here but I guess not." Lynn Sr thought to himself
As he parked the car into a parking place, he unbuckled his seatbelt and turned around to face his daughters.
"Alright, I'll be back in a few minutes. Lori you're in charge. Make sure no one comes in or out this car, got it?" Lynn Sr said.
"I got it dad." Lori said.
"Alright I'll be back in a few. Bye!"
"Bye!" They all said.
As Lynn Sr made his way into the store, he saw Flip behind the counter.
"Flip?" Lynn Sr questioned. "What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean? I always work at gas stations." Flip replied in that groggy voice of his that none of the Louds liked all too much.
"Well, I didn't know you worked at this one. Especially without any customers." Lynn Sr stated.
"Eh, I get some here and there. You're actually the first customer of today."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Anyways what do you need Lynn?"
"Not much, just some gas."
"Gas? Ok...well that's gonna be about 50."
"50?" Lynn Sr said in shock.
"Yep." Flip replied in a flat tone
"C'mon Flip you can do this to me, not today at least."
"And why is that?" Flip said with hesitation in his voice.
"Well, it's kinda a long story but I'll make it short. To sum it all up, my son left our house because of our daughters but now we're on the hunt to go and find him."
"Wait. Isn't is name Lincoln?" Flip asked.
"Yes?"
"Well I actually saw him pass by my store a few hours ago."
"Really? Where did he go?"
"To the city."
"Oh thank gosh. That's where we were going actually."
"Oh well that's good, hope you find your son."
"Thanks Flip." Lynn Sr thanked.
"Don't mention it, but you still have to pay for the gas."
"Yeah I know." Lynn Sr said in a flat tone.
As Lynn Sr made his way out to door and filled the car back up with gas, he told his daughters everything.
"So, are you guys ready to find Lincoln or not?"
"We're ready!" The sisters said in unison.
Thus, the trip continues on. It's time for for The Loud Family to get their only brother and son back.
Lincoln and Ronnie Anne just got home after a long day of eating, skateboarding, and just overall having a good time. They had failed to notice that the time had gone by so fast, and since Ronnie Anne's mom would be home any minute they had to hurry. Thankfully when they got home, no one was there except Lincoln and Ronnie Anne.
The two just sat down on the couch not saying a word to each other.
Lincoln was sitting on the sofa, fiddling wit his fingers as the hand of the clock ticked away. He still had his shoes on, but had one leg resting on the headrest, while the other was dangling off of the edge. He looked around the room for a good amount of the time but always seemed to have his eyes on Ronnie Anne more often than not.
Ronnie Anne was sitting on the big comfy couch having her legs in a crisscross position. She had taken her band out of her hair, letting it fall down to each side of her shoulders. She played with the hair for quite some time until she saw Lincoln looking at her.
The two of them just stared at each other until they eventually realized what they were doing
Both Lincoln and Ronnie Anne looked away from each other blushing profusely. None of them wanted to speak first.
"S-sorry about that Ronnie." Lincoln apologized. "I-I just...happened to see you was all."
"D-don't worry about it Linc." Ronnie Anne said. "You were just curious was all."
After that, silence was the only thing that filled the Casagrande household. That was until the silence was interrupted by Ronnie Anne's mom, Maria Santiago.
"¡Hola mija!" Maria announced in her nurse outfit.
"Mom!?" Ronnie Anne said.
"Mrs. Santiago!?" Lincoln also said.
"Oh hola Lincoln!" Maria said.
"Uhhh heyy?" Lincoln said nervously.
"What's the matter Lincoln? Are you hot? Running a fever? Have a co-"
"Mom!" Ronnie Anne interrupted. "Lincoln is fine. Now if you don't mind, me and him are gonna talk. Privately."
"Oh perdon!" Maria apologized.
"C'mon Lincoln, follow me"
"But wait Ronnie what about your mo-"
"I said let's go!" Ronnie Anne said through clenched teeth.
"Yes Ma'am!" Lincoln hastily said.
As Lincoln and Ronnie Anne went into Ronnie Anne's bedroom, Maria couldn't help but laugh at the situation.
As Ronnie Anne locked the door she sat on her bed and patted on it, signaling Lincoln to do the same.
As Lincoln sat down, Ronnie Anne began talking:
"Lincoln, I know that you might be unsure of the situation you're in right now and I don't blame you. If I were you, I'd be unsure as well. But, you've been living with me for about a week now and I'm surprised you haven't called any of your siblings yet. I'm sure they miss you a whole lot. But the real question I was gonna ask you was, do you miss your family?"
Lincoln was unsure on how to answer it. He never really brought up his family all too much after what occurred last week. Did he love his family? Of course. He loved every single one of them. But he wasn't really sure if they were worth his time for now. He knew his sisters could get violent and such, but he never expected that it would've gotten bad for him. If he were asked the question the day he left his home, his answer would've been a no, but now? Well, Lincoln is wondering that for himself. He just didn't know how to express it.
"I'm not sure." Lincoln simply replied.
"Hmm." Ronnie Anne pondered. "I understand Lincoln. You don't really want to talk about it I understand. Besides, it's almost 7:00 PM, I don't want you to overthink about this tonight. Let's just wind down for the night shall we?"
Lincoln knew Ronnie Anne was right. She knows he overthinks a lot, and decided that the best way to forget about it for now was to just, not talk about it.
"Yes, we shall." Lincoln replied.
As Lincoln grabbed his sleeping bag, Ronnie Anne hopped into bed getting ready for the night.
"Goodnight Lincoln." Ronnie Anne said.
"Goodnight Ronnie Anne." Lincoln said.
As Ronnie Anne fell asleep, Lincoln stared up at the ceiling. He knew he had to face his family eventually. There was no doubt about it. But like Ronnie Anne said, to not overthink it. And Lincoln did just that.
He then closed his eyes drifting off to sleep, ready for the next day. Ready for a new tomorrow.
