In the next morning, we woke up to found ourselves still in Efrafa. She had the sweetest dream that anyone could envy. The dream was that everyone was alive and well at Watership Down, even I was there. Unlike Katie, I hardly had any sleep at all. The dream I dreamed was differ from hers. Setting years back, during my POW days in Afghanistan to losing Captain Holly. Katie simply exited out of the burrow to prepare for the day. The only person left in the burrow was me.
I could only feel that everything around me is getting smaller. Our parents and our biological siblings gone. Now our adoptive parents and our close family friends... gone. The only thing I wish to sing to them was the song that me, a fellow guitarist named Danny, and of course a Efrafan doe named Thethuthinnang. I could hear our voices singing around the fire. As well everyone present, joined in and sang.
A hundred miles, a hundred miles,
A hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles
The song fades, when I saw Campion, Katie, and Nightwolf arrived. Campion informed me that Nightwolf has something to help Katie. The four of us gone through the tunnel and stated that he'll explain about it as we're heading back to Watership Down. The new Chief Rabbit had informed Sainfoin that the four of us are departing for the down and left Sainfoin in charge, until returning. As we were journeying our way back to the down, Nightwolf was able to inform me something important for Katie's sake.
"I was able to create a remedy for Katie."
"Really? What is it?" I asked.
"I've created a tonic that would have your sister transfer her marking to someone else." Nightwolf informed me.
"Someone older than her?"
"That's correct." Nightwolf stated.
"Is it possible to transfer it to a rabbit, such as myself?" Campion suggested.
"Campion, you're chief rabbit. Your warren needs you!" I was shocked.
"I understand, but I promised Hazel-rah that I'll do whatever I can to help you."
I turned to Nightwolf. "Nightwolf, is that possible?"
He turned and spoke to the chief rabbit. "Your volunteering is noble, but unfortunately it has to be transferred to another human."
Campion became down. "Don't worry, Campion. Thank you though." He looked back at me and nodded. "And I won't be too sure how you'll be able to handle it back in my realm."
"It would be the same."
"However Campion, he and his sister would be taller." Nightwolf clarified.
Campion looked at me and my sister. He than imagined the both of us taller than him. "You might be right about that."
Katie chuckled. Nightwolf came over to her. "I'll be giving you this tonic, Katie."
"Why are you giving it to me?" Katie questioned.
"You two must work together to find a fighter that has no marking." Nightwolf answered. "When you two find the fighter, drink this tonic and placed your hand unto another's shoulder to transfer the marking."
"How long does it last?" Katie feared. "Because is there catch to it?"
"I'm afraid so. It is important to drink it before seven sunrises, seven sunsets." Nightwolf informed her.
"Seven days." I explained to Katie. "The tonic is only good for seven days."
"But what if it doesn't work?" Katie worried.
"If you remember to drink the tonic, the marking will transfer. You shall have nothing to fear." Nightwolf assured her. She nodded her head and accepted the responsibility, as did I as well.
When we arrived back at the down, we still smell death, shrouding in the air. Campion spotted Bigwig lifeless on the ground.
"Thlayli!" Campion was shocked to see a Captain of the Owsla dead.
"He died only to save us." I grieved. "It was my fault."
"There's no time for guilt, my friend." Nightwolf said. "The only way to free their souls is to stop Shang Tsung." When we arrived at the entrance, he insisted us to take the lead. As we gone through the tunnels, he told us to find a body and have them placed near the warren's entrance. One by one, we gathered the bodies and lay them in a single line. The last to grab was Hazel and Fiver. When we got them out, all of us made sure their eyes and mouth were closed.
Afterwards, Nightwolf instructed us to bury them next to Captain Holly's resting place. Campion, Nightwolf, and myself dug ourselves a proper grave for the rabbits that perished. As we lie them gently on the ground in a single file, he began chanting while sprinkling the herbs around them. He than had us to dig Holly's grave. When we finished, he was still covered with the blanket that Katie wrapped him around with. he chanted once more, before sprinkling with the same herbs that he used before. We than rebury Holly and buried Hazel and the rest of the rabbits.
All four of us had a moment of silence to reflect on them. Campion, Katie, and I recited the phase we always say to our fallen rabbits. My heart has joined the thousand... for my friend stopped running today. The wind passed by to give us a comfort to let us know that the dead were grateful for what we did.
"It is time." Nightwolf than broke the silence.
"Time for what?" I asked.
"For you and Katie to return back to your world." Nightwolf answered. He than began chanting and summoned a portal.
"We're going back to live there?!" Katie questioned.
"No, Katie." Nightwolf answered. "I was being instructed by Raiden to teleport you two back to Earth."
"Raiden?"
"I'm afraid he couldn't be here to explain it. Because Shang Tsung is from your time, you must battle with him there." Nightwolf informed us. "From there, he won't be able to aid you there. Another will be present."
"Another Raiden?" I was confused.
"Yes."
"So that means, the invasion never happened?" I questioned.
"In you and your sisters' eyes, yes. Others, no. Be warned though of this. You may even see relics that you may recognize, the one you know must be destroyed."
Katie and I nodded. Before I could take another step forward to start another adventure, some cloth was on the ground. I picked it up to see... it was my scarf. The scarf that was tainted with Holly's blood. When I unfolded the scarf, I began to hear voices that I recognized.
Thomas! Hazel's voice called upon me.
You must free us! Fiver's voice came.
I know you can do it! Remember what we taught you! Bigwig's voice came.
Free my sisters and the rest of us. Hyzenthlay's voice came.
No matter what happens, don't lose hope. Clover's voice came.
I closed my eyes to hear their voices come again and listened to them.
Thomas! I opened my eyes to see myself standing there... with Captain Holly.
"Holly?"
"It's me, Thomas." he said. "You must free them! No matter what happens, free their souls!"
Seconds later, he vanished and I was brought back to reality. From the voices that were lost, I know what I was being instructed to do, especially the advice from Nightwolf. I wrapped the scarf around my neck and turned to say my goodbyes to Campion-rah and Nightwolf, as well as thanking them for protecting me and my sister.
Katie and I began to walk towards the portal. She was the first to enter the portal and she vanished.
"May Frith give you both speed and luck of El-Ahrairah to you!" Campion spoke to me.
"And may the elder gods protect you, both." Nightwolf spoke to me as well.
"I'm afraid your elder gods, just as I told Raiden, to sit this one out." I told him. "Especially for Frith. But thanks to you both."
Campion and Nightwolf nodded, as they watched me entered the portal. When I entered the portal, the English down disappears and everything turned to flashes.
