House of the Scott's
"I still can't believe that you're actually getting married before I do," Lydia said as she helped me into my wedding dress.
Two weeks had passed since the visit to the gynecologist who confirmed that I was really pregnant. Justin and I had discussed the possibility of getting married beforehand, and although my parents had turned down our proposal to tie the knot in Las Vegas, they had agreed to a civil marriage in Tree Hill anyway. Today the day had come when Justin and I would say "I do" in front of the registrar, and I was incredibly nervous. Fortunately, Lydia and Izzy were with me, who helped me with the preparations and my scare of the big ceremony, because my parents had already left. Justin was at home meanwhile. There, his parents and the twins made sure that he got ready to arrive at the county clerk's office in time. We would only meet again there, and I was very curious to see what he would look like in a suit.
"You look so beautiful, Sawyer!" Said Izzy, rolling her eyes theatrically. "I feel like getting married myself."
"Don't you dare!" Lydia gave her an indignant look. "You are still a child!"
"I'm almost 16!" Izzy retorted. "You don't have to lecture me, Miss smartypants! May I remind you that you also slept with Davis when you were 16!"
It was the little word "also" that made me look up. "You slept with Brandon?!" I gasped alarmed. Izzy's cheeks turned deep red and I expected the worst, but before I could get an answer from her, Lydia interfered again.
"Oh God! Please say that this is not true!"
"I ..." Izzy cleared her throat before continuing." Um ... no, we haven't slept together yet," she said slowly. "We both feel too young for that. So relax!"
"Phew!" Lydia let out a sigh of relief. "The next one to give birth is Brooke and then it's Sawyer's turn." She looked first at me, then back at Izzy. "You should first finish school and then think about a baby."
Izzy rolled her eyes. "Yes, Mom!" She said ironically. "But to put your mind at ease, Brandon and I have no plans to get married or to start a family. We both want to go to college first and then have a career. "
I turned to the mirror and looked at myself in my wedding dress. You couldn't see anything of the pregnancy yet. But soon there would be a bulge. Everyone in school would then see that I was pregnant. I could still vividly remember what it was like with Lydia. All the gossipping about her condition, and at the end of her pregnancy she could only take private lessons. Would it be different with me because I was married then?
"Hey! Are you okay?" Lydia asked worriedly.
I turned to her. "Yes, everything is okay. There are just so many things going through my mind."
"What kind of things?"
"Everything." I made a gesture with my arms. "About school and whether Justin and I will stay here or move to Los Angeles. I mean, we already talked about it. And Tom would be happy."
"You really want to leave?" Izzy asked softly.
I shrugged my shoulders. "It's Justin's dearest wish. And I can also imagine us living there."
"And what about us then?" Asked Izzy. "Tree Hill is so far from LA."
"There are planes." I smiled and looked at Lydia. "You could visit us in summer. We could then go to the beach and bask in the sun."
"Sounds like your move is already a done deal," Lydia said, frowning.
"No." I shook my head. "We haven't decided anything yet. However, we talked about it." I didn't want to worry her any further, but in fact Justin had made this exact suggestion to me just a few days ago. I've known all along that he would like to move to Los Angeles. And if it was his greatest wish, I wouldn't deny him that either. Ultimately, I would be his wife and follow him no matter where he went. "Should I leave my hair down or should I put it up?" I quickly changed the subject.
Lydia stood behind me and lifted my long locks a little. "An updo doesn't look bad either, but I think I'd rather let it hang down." She looked at Izzy. "What do you think?"
"Let it down. Somehow it looks more natural," she confirmed.
"Okay, we're done then, aren't we?" I turned to them and stroked my white, knee-length wedding dress. Even if the wedding ceremony would be a purely formal one, I hadn't wanted to do without wearing a white dress.
"Then hold still!" Lydia took the wreath of flowers and tucked it into my hair. "Perfect!" She said after looking at her work again.
"And here is the bridal bouquet," said Izzy and handed me the bouquet, which consisted of pink and white lilies. Her cell phone buzzed and she read the text message that had just come in. "This is mom," she explained. "She writes that they are leaving now. We'll all meet at the county clerk's office. "
I pressed a hand to my nervous stomach. "I think I'll be sick!"
"Not now!" Izzy grabbed my hand. "Save that for later. We have to go!"
Lydia looked at me sympathetically. She knew how I was feeling. I took a few deep breaths and then nodded. "Okay, it's better now. Let's not keep the others waiting." I risked one last look in the mirror and then left the house with my friends.
