I was in my training room in full on work out gear, sweating the whole day away. Allison went to school and my dad and kate were out doing some 'business' things. I almost wanted to eavesdrop, or even go through Kate's bag but they were in and out of the house way too often.
I had my own music blasting, but I was honestly way too tired out and it was almost dinner time so I needed to be clean because one thing about me? I like to be clean and comfy when I eat.
I exited the garage and walked up the steps slowly. The whole house was quiet like there was no one here. As I got farther up the steps, I began to hear music from Allison's room. I didn't know what time it was but she must've been home. I hadn't been out of my training room for around four hours so I hoped so.
I turned her knob once I got outside the door and- Oh my god, ew! She was making out with Scott on her bed and he was definitely gripping ass.
They both jumped and shouted in shock at my entrance. I immediately stepped back and closed her door. These types of things are so awkward! It's never happened before and I was glad for that. Allison barely ever would have boys over and even if she did she was not the type to be making out in her room. Me on the other hand preferred to do my dues at the boys house; their mothers barely ever cared. Allison clearly needs some tips.
I was just going to mind my business and head into the shower. Hopefully someone will be home and there would be dinner ready when I got out, so Allison's company better be freaking gone.
I took at least forty five minutes in the shower. I had to wash my long dark locks and scrape the sweat and grime off of my body from my work out session. Showering was the best after a good work out. Ten out of ten, highly recommend.
When I got out I heard multiple voices downstairs, much to my delight. There was a nice aroma slowly wafting up the stairs. One thing about my mom? She throws down with the classic french food. I watch Gordon Ramsay, so I know a thing or two about a thing or two. After I got dressed I made sure to run down the steps.
I was shocked when I caught a glimpse of Scott at our dinner table. My father already looked kind of irritated. I did not want to participate in him grilling Allison's boyfriend but as soon as he saw me he said, "Jocelyn, nice of you to join us. Sit. You know Scott."
My dad has a way of giving demands without even really trying. I sat my ass down and didn't even argue. I sat next to my aunt and across from Scott. They had a plate there for me as if they were waiting for me, which I'm fucking glad they were. I finally said, "Not really." I wanted to ask why the hell he was at our dinner table but instead I said, "I didn't know you guys were meet the family serious enough for him to stay for dinner."
My father grimaced and it seemed like Scott did, too. He looked so nervous as if he was in his worst nightmare or something. Kate nudged me, "We actually found them getting it on in front of all the guns."
I looked at them with my brows furrowed. What the hell? I looked to Allison, "I hope you didn't go into my room."
"Actually I did. I wanted to show him that I was good with a bow, too." She pressed her lips together in this fake smile. "I'm sure you don't mind that invasion of privacy."
Scott choked on his water as the rest of the table looked on with confusion. Touche twin sis, touche. I raised a brow at her and took a bite out of chicken. She got me there.
My mom seemed to be the only one who cared that Scott choked because she offered him some water. All he did was politely decline and my dad started to go in, "We can get you some beer."
"N-no, thanks."
"Shot of tequila?"
"Dad. Really?" Allison finally decided to stop our father from bullying her boyfriend! I'm the observant, mind your own damn business type but I was about to go off on my father. I'll be damned if he did that to someone I brought here. See why I go to the boys house?
"You don't drink, Scott?" my dad asked, not once breaking eye contact with Allisons boy toy.
"I'm not old enough to." With Scott's response I knew exactly why him and Allison were perfect for each other. They both are goody two shoes people pleasers.
"That doesn't seem to stop most teenagers," my mom said, making sure to shoot daggers at me with her eyes. I pretended not to notice her gaze and kept eating my food.
I rolled my eyes as my dad then asked, "You smoke pot?"
Before anyone said anything I let my fork drop so it made a loud clanking noise. "Dad, you know what I didn't sign up for? Awkward dinners. You know what you're making this? An awkward dinner. Leave him alone; she's seventeen. Not twelve."
Kate made whooping noises from her seat next to mine in that way she does where she feels the need to over exaggerate everything. "You know you're really being a dick if you get Jos to call you out! Don't mess with her twinnnn. Anyways, Scott, uh- Allison tell us you're on the lacrosse team. I'm sorry. I don't know anything about that."
"It's dumb." I said dryly. Once you get me to finally talk, I probably won't stop.
Scott looked so taken aback like I had just crushed his dreams. I bet he couldn't wait to talk about Lacrosse. "Yeah, um, it is kind of just like hockey, except on grass."
I thought my dad was done but in a dead serious tone he said, "hockey on grass is called field hockey."
Allison kissed her teeth and forced a fake smile on her face. Home girl was stressed. "So, he meant like field hockey except just with a different stick. He's really good, he scored the winning shot for the first official game. The ball went straight through the goalies net."
"I think he was playing with a defective stick." My dad was quick to shoot her down in the most nonchalant tone ever, taking a bite out of his food without even changing his facial expression.
I thought I'd give my sister some credit. "Wait, the ball went through the net?"
She smiled at me. "Yes, it was so cool, I'd never seen anything like it. You need to start coming to the games." Then in a lower tone she added, "you'd probably be much better company."
Scott choked on his drink again as everyone looked over to my father, who definitely heard Allison's little comment. The table got silent for a few seconds until he said, "On second thought, I'll take that shot of tequila."
Somehow that eased the tension enough for everyone to laugh and I didn't even realize I was holding in a breath until then. I'm making it a goal to never have to endure this kind of awkwardness ever again. I can't wait until we move and don't have to deal with relationships again.
Scott's phone rang and he excused himself from the table, which made me feel like I could finally get up and leave. I grabbed my empty plate and walked into the kitchen to dump it into the sink. Allison was behind me leaning over the counter. I turned to make eye contact with her.
She said, "You're being awfully talkative and dare I say.. Supportive?"
I rolled my eyes. "I like to be able to eat in peace don't feel special."
She raised her brows at me and completely disregarded what I said, running around the edge of our island counter and throwing her arms around my shoulders. "Thank youuuu. I owe you."
I gave her a questioning look. "What are you talking about."
"Please, I know you love me. You could've just let me crash and burn like Dad wanted. You loveee meeee," she teased, still holding onto me.
I giggled at how childish she was being and rolled my eyes again. "Whatever."
My mom came in the room and tilted her head in shock at the sight of her daughters hugging. "Girls, help me with dessert."
She moved around the kitchen and started to pull a cake out of the oven. I grabbed some new plates with a lot of reluctance, and Allison grabbed utensils and the cake knife. I really didn't want to sit around the table again and eat dessert but I do like chocolate cake.
When we walked back into the dining room, Scott was already back in his seat and talking to my dad and aunt. I tuned into their conversation as I handed everyone smaller plates for cake. "So, Allison said you work for a vet; what does your boss think of the recent animal attacks?"
I was actually pretty concerned about whether this was an animal or a murderer, so I stayed open eared as I sat down. Scott answered, "Everyone is just saying its a mountain lion."
"That'd have to be a very large mountain lion," Kate said knowingly. I glanced at her with a raised brow. She's been here for less than a day and my dad felt the need to debrief her on the attacks like that? She caught my gaze and kept eye contact for a second. Then she smirked and looked back towards Scott. "Don't you think, Scott?"
He looked super uncomfortable once again but answered steadily with a, "I don't know. We usually get cats and dogs at the vet. Nothing that vicious."
My dad gulped loudly from his seat which got everyone's attention. ""Never had to deal with a rabid dog? Oh. I grew up with a lot of dogs. I saw one get rabies from a bat. It was transferred through the bite. You know, people think that a rabid dog just suddenly goes mad. It's a lot more gradual. First stage is subtle changes in behavior - They're restless, morose. It's the second stage that people know - the furious phase. That's when they attack. And we're talking any moving object. Did you know that a caged rabid dog will break its own teeth, trying to chew through the bars? It'll even rear back and snap its own spine. Can you imagine the amount of force it would take to do that? It's a complete character reversal. This harmless animal - Turned into a perfectly vicious killer. And it all started with that one bite."
Allison said through gritted teeth, "That dog died didn't it?"
"Because you're grandfather shot it."
"Yeah to put it out of its misery?" She shot back. Kudos to her for not backing down to our big bad dad.
I dropped my utensils. "Yeah, dead dogs over chocolate cake is my last straw."
I stood up to go but Kate touched my arm to get my attention, "Honey, I think you're dad is just trying to say that sometimes, no matter what, there are just some things that are too dangerous."
"Too out of control," He finished from his seat.
Kate wasn't done there though. "And better off dead," she added almost ominously.
I glanced back at everyone and slowly pulled my arm way. I didn't understand the significance of what she said but something just made we feel weird about the whole thing. "I'll be in my room," I announced before I slowly walked away.
The next morning brought my birthday upon us. Birthdays aren't really too important to me only because I've never had this big group of friends to celebrate with. My birthday consisted of the same things almost every year- which I definitely appreciated at times. I do not like surprises.
As soon as I got back from my jog and showered, I made sure to peek my head into my sisters room. I was not going to school for my birthday and I honestly never had. "Happy birthday!" I shouted at her.
"Happy birthday to you too!" She said back with a wide smile. She came over to me and threw an arm around my shoulders. "We're finally seventeen."
"You are finally seventeen," I corrected. "I've been twenty one for years." She laughed at me went to finish getting ready. The hallway smelled like my usual birthday breakfast; scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and hashbrown casserole. Breakfast fit for a queen.
I almost floated down the stairs. When I got into the kitchen I saw everything put together on different plates set up at the breakfast table. "Happy birthday my princess!" My mother said, throwing her hands around my shoulders. I hugged her back and pulled away quickly to get straight to the food.
On my empty plate sat a card. It was from my mom. I opened it immediately and five different gift cards fell out. I smiled back to where she stood and thanked her. My favorite part is always the gifts.
While I ate my aunt exited the guest room in pajamas. She smiled wide at the sit of me and jumped up and down screaming like a teenager. "Happy birthday! Oh my God I can't believe you're growing up on me you little model!" She came over and hugged me. When she got close she whispered in my ear, "I left a little gift for you in your training room."
Her words filled me with more excitement than I had felt since I started living in this town. Fuck the food! I hopped up and ran around the corners of my house until I got to the door of my room. I was only hoping it could be one thing.
As soon as I swung open the door I noticed the blanket thrown over something in the middle of the room. I ran straight to it and grabbed the blanket, tossing it off of the item without a second thought. I all but screeched as I saw the rack of swords sitting beautifully.
There was one sword sitting on the top rack just untouched and pretty. I noticed a small tag and grabbed it immediately. It had japanese writing on it that honestly made me hotter than an orgasm. I knew this had to be extremely expensive; these things go for at least $4,000.
I really didn't want to take it out of the sheath because it felt like a dream. The sheath was blue, just like katana from the video game. There was a pretty white floral pattern running down the length of it. I finally picked it up. It was heavy like I expected but it felt just right in my hands.
I was so enamored with my gift; I turned it over and over, examining each part. The braid pattern of the handle was baby blue and white; it was lovely. I finally decided to unsheath it, pulling the blue ribbon off of the scabbard and taking out the blade.
So shiny and…..pointy. The sword itself had a blue tint to the and there was also a floral pattern engraved into the sword, running all the way down to the tip. I almost wanted to stab myself with it just to see. I was going to have so much fun today locked in this room.
Finally, I slid my hand up to the collar so I was holding the sword properly. I stood up and held it out in front of me to get the actual full effect. At the very end of the sword there was another thing engraved in it. It was a….werewolf? I don't know.
But then I noticed also on the bottom of the collar a saying… in french.
"Nous chassons ceux qui nous chassent."
I have a husky so imagine how all the howling during watching the show goes for me. She actually looks like Derek because she has blue eyes and her black pattern looks like his hair/beard.
Do you guys pets ever act like they rule your whole life (even tho they do) I recently saw this thing that was like "Pets are like sugar babies, you waste all your money on keeping them happy and all they do look cute and give you attention sometimes" and I've never related so much
