We hunt those who hunt us.

I stared at the translation in google for at least twenty minutes, trying to decipher why the hell something in french was carved onto my japanese sword. I thought it couldn't be a coincidence. Kate had to have put it there herself. But my real question was why.

A knock at my door pulled me out of my trance. I slid out from my seat at my desk and glided towards the door in my computer chair. Allison stood behind the door holding her laptop. She asked, "Can I come in?"

"You're already here," I said, sliding back from the door and back to my desk. She shut my door and plopped herself down onto my bed. She looked excited and I don't blame her; she was thriving in Beacon Hills which was odd because usually I was the social sister. She had the popular friend, the star player boyfriend- everything she probably ever wanted. She was even grounded for the first time because apparently she stole a condom from Kate… I was just as shook.

I noticed something swinging from her neck that was….not cute at all. "What's that?" I asked pointing at the jewelry.

"Kate gave it to me to apologize for accusing Scott of being a thief. It's like the family crest or something." Allison swung her long black hair out of the way and grabbed the pendant, holding it out so I could see. It sure was ugly, but that didn't matter.

My eyes wandered to the engravement on the bottom of my sword, they were exactly the same. A bunch of smaller symbols surrounding an angry looking...wolf. But it wasn't quite just a wolf..

"Okay look," she got my attention. "I'm doing this project about family history and Kate tells me this weird like French story-"

"French?" I asked curiously. I could tell her about the inscription but I wasn't sure if it was for her to know. I was never the type to share my secrets.

"Yes, something about this wolf like animal and these mysterious animal attacks-"

"A wolf?" I cut her off again, sliding over to my bed so I could see what was on her laptop. The pendant and my sword wandered back into my mind. This whole thing was way too weird.

"Can I talk? I wanted to show you. It killed like hundreds of people and this skilled hunter was said to be the one to kill it. I think that hunter was one of our ancestors or something. And she was a girl," She explained, smiling at me widely. "I thought you'd like it."

"Yeah, send me the link," I instructed, sliding back to my desk. Allison thought I would like it for way different reasons than I had in mind. Lore was cool and all but now that all these things were coming together, especially with the weird animal attacks going on in this town and apparently in my family's history, I couldn't help but think there was too many subliminal things happening that connected us to this town or just the animal in general. I don't know. Shits giving me chills.

"Okay, I'm gonna go then," her voice dropped to a whisper. "Scott's in the closet."

I turned to her with wide eyes. What the hell has gotten into her? She stuck her tongue out in response. And even to be so bold as to leave the room while he's in there? "I can't say I'm not proud. But! Before you go, I'm going to plan something with Lydia and Jackson, and I'd like you to go because I don't want to third wheel."

"That's oddly nice of you," Allison said as she moved towards the door. "Are you becoming me?"

"Are you becoming me?" I shot back. Then I paused and said, "it's not everyday we have friends that get attacked by dangerous animals. Or maybe not according to history."

She smiled again and gave me a slight nod. "I'll be there. Bye!"

It had felt like forever since I had been in school. It was not even halfway through the day and everyone was getting under my skin. The main reason I had even came to school was to get a book out of the library about french history and "mythical" creatures and to see both Lydia and Jackson. I wasn't really their "friends" but who knew how long I'd be here so I'd better make some.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do and really I had too much I exactly wanted to figure out but I could fit them in. Maybe bowling or something. I don't know what Jackson liked especially because he's kind of an asshole. Maybe I should find Lydia now.

Instead of blowing through the day by reading this book, I guess I can be social. It was lunch time anyways. I strode over to the lunch room and looked around. Lydia and Allison were already sitting together. Perfect.

"Looks whos actually in school!" Lydia said with a fake gasp, "And sticking in her nose in a book? Who is this?"

I fake laughed as I sat at the table. "I didn't know you even knew what a book looked like, Lydia. Anyways, enjoy me while I'm around, please."

"I would enjoy you much more if you went shopping with me later," she said in sing songy tone. "I'm sure some new shoes are more important than anything in that book."

"You don't even know what its about," I said matter of factly.

"Is it about what I told last night?" Allison asked after chewing up a bite of an apple.

"Yeah, listen, The beast of Gev-ud-dan; A quadruped wolf - like monster, prowling the Auvergne and south Dordogne areas of France during the year 1764 to 1767. La Bete killed over a hundred people, becoming so infamous that the King Louie the 15th sent one of his best hunters to try to kill it." I paused to look at both Allison and Lydia. Allison was watching me with some hint of curiosity in her eyes but Lydia didn't seem to care at all.

"Boring." She stated, tilting her head as if she was challenging me.

"Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of Satan," I raised my brows, waiting for a response from her.

"Still boring."

I laughed at her and rolled my eyes. "Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predators, possibly a mesonychid while others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape - shift into a man - eating monster."

"What does this have to do with your family?"

"Listen," Allison said for me. I glanced at her with a smirk.

"This. It is believed that la Bete was finally trapped and killed by a renowned hunter who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature. His name was Argent." I read, throwing in some jazz hands as I finished.

"Okay, you're ancestors killed a big wolf," she pressed her lips together, "So what?"

Allison scoffed from where she sat, "A big wolf?"

I flipped through the pages until I landed on a picture of the large, beastly looking thing. The picture was terrifying; a shadowy, wolf figure menacingly perched up on two feet with red glowing eyes. I spun the book around in my hands and showed it to Lydia.

Her face immediately changed as she leaned closer into the book. I stared at her eyes as they went blank for a few seconds. I remembered what happened and shut the book, making her jump. "So, shopping tonight?"

Lydia did that thing that Lydia does when she switches from one version of herself to the other. It was weird and I didn't like it. "Text me. I'll see you in history." She got up and sashayed out of the cafeteria.

"She's something else," I said to my sister. "So, do you think we should go shopping? Jackson has his own friends."

"Well, I kind've wanted to hang out with Scott, so.. He's been kind of weird and I wanna know."

My jaw dropped. "He was in our house last night."

"So?"

I rolled my eyes and started to get my stuff together. "Everyone wants to know why I'm so irritable and distant. I never come around but when I do, yall clearly have your own agendas." Once I had all my stuff packed I stood up to go. "Bye."

As I walked out of the cafe I coincidentally bumped into Jackson. I think the attack was getting to him way more than Lydia; he looked terrible. So much that it shocked me when I greeted him. "Oh shit, hey."

He gave me a weird look with an upturned lip. "I didn't even know you still went here."

"Yeah, I only have enough energy to combat Lydia's snarkiness, so shut up. Anyways; I'm trying to do something with everyone tonight so what do you want to do ?"

"Huh? You want to make plan?."

"I could've sworn I just said that." What is wrong with these people! See why I put in no effort?

"Yeah, okay, nice joke. I want to enjoy my free period." He started to walk out of the door and I reluctantly followed behind him.

"I'm serious, I haven't been around and obviously everyone has been going through these things so-"

"What do you know about anything I've been going through?" he cut me off quickly and coldly. I noticed we were walking by the field and immediately regretted following him even more. The walk back is going to be so annoying.

"That's exactly why I want to plan something so I can be a better-"

He stopped walking and put his hand out to stop me, too. I pushed his arm away and looked up at his face to question why the hell would he ever and noticed he was staring intently at something. I followed his gaze to find Scott and his friend Stiles on the field and Stiles was actually pelting Scott with lacrosse balls.

I snorted. "What the hell?"

"I don't know," Jackson said monotone, still enthralled with the scene before us. He even moved to lean on a bench and get a better view. I could've watched Scott get hit a ton by his own friend but I wasn't too interested and Jackson was being too rude in not even ten minutes so I guess I can just hang with only Lydia like originally planned.

I started to turn and walk back, and I was almost all the way gone when I noticed Scott drop down from the corner of my eye. I glanced over to see what was going on. He was panting heavily and flexing; he flexed so hard that he ripped straight through the duct tape handcuffing him just by pulling his arms apart. Is that normal? I looked like Jackson now as I stared just as intently at the sight before me; Scott was literally digging his hands into the grass.

He was way too angry, and it kind of scared me. Personally, I did not want someone who could rip through duct tape that easily when he was angry to be dating my sister. Once he started to calm down I got bored and speed walked away- I had to make sure to make a mental note to remind Allison how weird Scott was. Probably for the thirtieth time.

After returning my book to the library, I decided the school day was too boring and plus I wanted to get in some more training with my sword anyways. I had been too preoccupied with this wolfiness shit that I had been slacking on watching videos and mimicking my favorite scenes from martial arts movies.

While I was in the living room watching one of those movies, my sister walked into the house coming home from school. She dropped her keys and came right over to the couch where I sat. "I figured you left early."

"You know me well."

She smiled and started to play with her fingers. By now I could tell that meant she had something to say or some type of news that was exciting her. "So, Scott is coming over around 8 tonight."

I hit pause on the movie. "So what's up with him? Does he have anger issues?"

"Why?"

I was about to go into detail but something just told me to hold my tongue so instead I just said, "I don't know, forget that. Didn't you say he's been acting weird?"

She finally stopped playing with her hands and walked around the room to join me on the couch. "Yeah well I'm gonna try to fix that tonight."

"I know this if your first and all, but let the guy fix the issue. Always."

She sighed and leaned her head on my shoulder. Scott being in her life has made her all too affectionate. "I'm not you. You're confident and sexy and mysterious. I really like him, so I wanna be the one to fix it."

All I did was roll my eyes in response, getting snuggly into the couch once again so I could hit play on the movie. You can't help them all.

By the time it was 8:30, I didn't even realize that Scott was late. I had already showered, and I was trying to get ready to take Lydia out. I was going to surprise her by taking us to a late night self defense class. I doubt she would like it but I did want her to feel like she could protect herself...maybe? It was in a studio super close to the mall so I would clearly have to trick her or something.

Allison paced by my room, phone in hand. I looked at my clock. 8:40. Here she was looking stupid like I told her she would. People like me prefer not to waste their breath on people who would make us say "I told you so."

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't round the corner and walk up to her to say, "I told you so."

Allison glanced at me and pursed her lips at my comment "Thanks."

Before I said anything back, my phone began to ring. It was Lydia. I answered. "Hellooooo."

"Hey, did Scott show up yet?"

"Nope. Are you ready?"

"Mmmm, well, Jackson is bringing me but he said you invited him," She said in a curious tone.

I don't understand Jackson, and I really did not like how easy it was for him to switch his whole disposition. From what Allison has told me, he had both a weird obsession and vendetta against Scott. Not that I really cared for Scott, but I did want him to be a good boyfriend to my sister and part of that is probably not having to be stressed by the captain of the team you play on.

"I don't care. I just want to hang out with you, make sure you're okay…"

"How many times do I have to tell you that I am okay." She paused. "Is Allison okay?"

I hummed my answer and looked back towards my stressed out sister. "She's being stood up so I doubt it."

"You know what, change of plans. We're going to find Scott and find out why the hell he is a no call no show."

"Find him?" How the hell are we going to do that.

"Yeahhhh," she said as if it were the most obvious idea ever, "we can just stop by his place and confront the asshole."

That did sound kind of fun, to be honest. "Hmmmm, fine." glanced at Allison again. "You're coming with me and Lydia."

"And Jackson!" Lydia added enthusiastically.

"And Jackson," I repeated. Instead of answering for Lydia to hear, Allison shook her head vigorously and wagged her finger no at me. I kissed my teeth and rushed over to her. I hung up on Lydia and grabbed Allisons arm. Even though she said she didn't want to go, she let me pull her down the stairs and then out our front door.

"Do you really want to hang out with all three of us to find Scott?" She asked as we stood on the curb outside of our house. Her head was down but she was peeking up at me with her brows raised to her hairline.

"No." I answered quickly. She knows me better than to even ask. "We've been here for over a month and I have been so in my own world-"

"Like always."

"Okay, and I'm bored- my social bar needs to be filled again."

Allison laughed at me and nodded her head. "Okay."

Just as I turned around to face the road, Jackson pulled up in his fancy little sports car. It was cute, but way too small. We would definitely be taking my car.

"Hiya!" Lydia said from the passenger window.

"I'm going to go get my car," I announced, turning on my heel.

"Wait," Allison said, face in her phone. "Scott just texted. He said to meet him at the school."

I actually do not want to write the school or finale episode. I thought about taking her out but hey plot development. If this was a third person story I wouldn't have put her there. All this shit is filler anyway the only important thing for her character arc in season 1 is her discvering wolves if it was ethical I would just make it happen already.

Five chapters left.

Did you guys hate Jacksons character? I'm starting to realize he wasn't that bad at all.
