"A person. That's the biggest part that doesn't make any sense." I chucked a throwing knife at the training dummy across the room. It buried itself deep into the mannequins neck. I smirked. It felt nice to know I still had it.

"How come?" Kate questioned from her spot leaning against the wall. I picked up another knife and turned it in my fingers.

Before I threw it, I looked up at her and said, "something in me just tells me, that that wasn't a human."

"Insict is a marvelous thing," she said, her voice rising and falling as she spoke. "But what does that mean, Jocelyn?"

I scoffed, breathing out oudly as I tweaked my body to throw my knife. It landed right next to the other one. Perfect aim. I picked up another. "You tell me. It's like I'm never getting the full story from you. Or my dad but I expect that from him. Not you."

She nodded her head slowly, stalking over to where I stood until she was standing directly in front of me. I searched her face for something but one thing about my aunty was she had an excellent poker face. I noticed our resemblance everytime I looked at her. We were so much alike I might as well have been hers. Finally, Kate broke the silence with, "Maybe I just want you to pick up the pieces yourself. Prove you're ready."

"I'm ready. Whatever it is, I'm ready. What else could I do to prove that?" I asked frantically, throwing up my hands in defeat. This situation was completely too stressful.

She picked up a throwing knife and played with it for a second, before looking at the target and throwing it with more force than me- it landed right in the head. "Well," she said in a low tone, walking around to grab my shoulders and move me to face the mannequin with three knives sticking out of it, "first things first is to always aim for the head."

For some reason, after I've missed so many days and after they closed our school for three days, I was expected to be able to take a test today. It was a big mandatory pre test.

This test was the only reason I was even in my dad's car right now, being trapped inside while he apparently contemplated home school which at this point, I would probably prefer. Allison disagreed with me because when my dad refused to open the doors to let us out, she said, "Jocelyn, could you tell your dad to stop ruining my life by being so overbearing?"

"Could you let us out, beloved father?" I said, leaning over to the front seat and giving him my blue puppy dog eyes. Kate smirked at the sight and danced her fingers along the dashboard of the car and right over to the unlock button.

My dad kissed his teeth in response as he looked between Allison. Kate, and I. Kate said, "awe you know you can't say no to three Argent women."

"Thanks," Allison said, getting out of the car. I followed suit, throwing my bag over my shoulder and walking around the front of my fathers truck to meet Allison on the stairs to the main entrance.

"Well, you ready?" I asked as we walked.

"For the test?"

"Don't play dumb." I rolled my eyes at her and scanned the hallways for her now ex-boyfriend. She finally decided to take my advice and leave Scott- and let him be the one to go crazy over her instead of vice versa. Don't get me wrong, she was still going crazy, just not letting him see.

"I don't know, I still can't help but think I made the wrong decision." See what I mean?

"It's bigger than just the other night." I said as we reached my locker. Suprisingly, I still remembered the code to the lock and stuffed my bag into the tight space as soon as I opened it. I never carried around bookbags. "Allison. You need to focus on something else. Your life since we moved here has been straight up Scott."

She sighed. I finishd at my locker and we started moving towards hers. "I know, I know. It's just so hard. Nothing is right."

I furrowed my brow at her. "You're just now noticing that?"

"I don't know."

We reached her locker and I leaned against the wall next to her as I waited for her to do all she had to do. I replied with, "That's why you need a break from dating! Which means lay off Jackson, that's not cool and I don't see how you dont see whats wrong with it."

"It's not me, it's him."

"Shut it the fuck down, Allison. You look like an asshole."

She slammed her locker closed and we started our trek to class. Allison didn't say anything else and we took our respective seats in the class. Not even two minutes went by before Scott came in and he made a beeline for Allison's desk. The teacher intercepted pretty quickly though, ordering Scott to find a seat. I couldn't help but smirk at that.

Scott looekd extremely stressed about the breakup, which was good for Allison. I hope she kept up the willpower and let him go crazy like she had to do the other night.

Taking tests was not my thing, and once a pamphlet got handed back to me I couldn't even control the deep sigh of regret I had. Once the instructions started to be read, I scooted back in my seat and stretched my long ass body out so I could lean over and put my head on my arms on my desk.

Some time later my eyes snapped open. I was still in school and the only one in the classroom excpet for our creepy ass chemistry teacher who was sitting at his desk. I immediately pulled out my phone, there were 5 texts from Allison; 'jocelyn' 'wake up' ''oh my god' 'Harris would not let me wake you up' 'are you up?' And also a few missed calls. This would only ever happen to me.

'Good morning, Miss. Argent, how nice of you to join me," said sarcastially when he noticed me up.

I glared at him for a second before getting up from my seat. I had to stretch the kinks out of my long legs and arms before I could do anthing else. While I stretched I heard him say, "I'm assuming you're going to ask to schedule a retake?"

I laughed out loud once I felt good to walk and took some long strides towards the door. Before I left I made sure to comment, "Wouldn't you like that?"

I pulled my phone out again to check the time. Damn, school was almost over. I clearly needed that nap so there's no need for me to be mad at myself. I stretched one more time for good measure and called my sister.

"Hello? Where are you?" She said immediately, picking up the very first ring.

"I just left the room," I yawned out which made her laugh. Not sure what was so funny. If she was sleeping through the whole school day I would've made sure to wake her up. Actually I think I was okay with her not waking me up. "When is dad getting here?"

"Kate, actually, and when the school day is over."

I rolled my eyes to myself. This is why I drive. "Okay, bye." I hung up without waiting for a response and dialed Kate's number. "Come pick me up."

Obviously, Kate picked me up from school and I went sraight to the shower and back to sleep in my bed. My sleeping schedule has been too off whack lately, with all that's been going on. I needed moments like right now, where I could sit and just exist in my own space, doing my own thing, and not worrying about anything at all- for mental health reasons.

Of course that didn't last long because I have a twin who likes to invade my personal space lately. Even thouh she didn't knock, Allison still had enough respect to not turn on my lights as she came and sat down on my bed. "Do you know anything Kate knows about Derek Hale?"

I rolled my eyes in the dark. I just didn't want to have to think about that situation anymore. I swear unless Derek Hale is really some body building freak than that was not him. I don't say that, though. I like to recieve before I ever give. "No, why?"

"Well I told her Scott knew him, sort of, and she freaked out and started asking me all these questions," she said and then sighed. "Jos, sometimes I just feel like everyone is lying to me."

"Who is everyone?"

"Dad. Kate, maybe- I don't know." She paused, "Do you feel that way?"

Yes. "Are you feeling like this because you can't trust Scott?"

She sighed and didn't even notice that I ignored her question. "No its more than that. Way too many weird things have happened since we've moved here and I know you've noticed it and I'm sorry I took so long, I just-"

I kissed my teeth at her comment which made her stop talking. "Allison, you don't notice anything about me unless you really want or have to and don't be sorry because I don't care. If you feel like everyone is lying, stop crying about it and find out what the hell is the truth."

She didn't know what to say at first, clearly taken aback. Honestly, she was proably shook that I said so many things to her at once. "Do you know anything?"

See how she missed the part about her being a bad sister? I shifted in bed to make it seem like I was tired and wanted to sleep but she didn't budge if she did actually get the hint. "No, Allison, and I would tell you if I did."

"No, you wouldn't, that's not something you'd do."

"Well, you don't ask me about me or what I know often enough to know if that was really true."

Finally she stood up to leave. I wasn't lying about what I said but she was making me feel like I should be lying. She drives me so insane.

Before she walked out the door she said, "I'm going to the sport shop, you want to come?"

"No."

That was enough for Allison to leave and shut my door behind her. Thank finally.

After Allison left I lied in bed watching youtube videos for a few minutes until I heard a car pull into the garage. I was hoping it was my father. Or Kate. Talking to my sister made me realize I had my own digging to do. I felt more like they were being vague than lying, but not telling the whole truth was technically not telling the truth anyways.

I ran all the way down to our garage and sure enough, my dad and Kate were there, leaning over a table and whispering but as soon as I walked in, they shut up in an instant.

"This is what I'm talking about with you too. What's with the dead slience?"

"What are you talking about, Jos," my dad asked as if he was stupid. I threw a mini tantrum, rolling my eyes and stomping my feet. "You don't need to concern yourself with anything here."

"Until I'm trapped in a school with my sister and friends, all kinds of weapons training under my belt and still helpless."

My aunt tilted her head to the side and crossed her arms. "She does have a point."

My dad kissed his teeth and shot a quick glare my aunts way. "I understand your frustration. Is this about Derek Hale?"

"That was not Derek Hale! There's the lying- and that's my only frustration." I said matter of factly.

Kate caught my eye and we held eachothers gaze for a few seconds. It felt like we were having a mini conversation, but my dad interrupted the staring when he said, "We can talk about this later-"

"Yes, later," Kate said quickly with a slight smile playing on her lips. My dad stared at me expectantly, like he was waiting for me to leave. I threw my hands up in defeat and sulked away. Well, that clearly didn't work. Maybe I just have to think outside of the box..

The universe must've been reading my thoughts because oddly enough, Scott MCcall himself found me the next day in school. He stopped me in the hallways during transition and even though I probably shouldn't be talking to him, I knew he defnitely knew more about the school night than he let on, so I for sure was interested in what he had to say.

"Jocelyn, I know we're not exactly...close but I really need your help," He spit out in the most desperate tone I'd ever heard, extremely flustered.

I raised a curious brow and said, "Let me guess, you want my sister back?"

"No- well, yes- but that's not what I need your help with- well, not right now but maybe if you could- but right now, right now, I need something different from you."

I honestly couldn't tell what my sister saw in him. He could barely form a sentence! "Get to the point."

He started to speak very cautiously, "Well, I know you have seen that necklace Allison has-"

"It was a gift, what about it?"

"Could you like, let me borrow it- Or just convince her to be my friend at least."

I scoffed at him. He is truly a weirdo. "Even if I did like you with my sister, You are not helping your case at all." I had to stop and think for a second about my ultimate goal, though. "I'm not getting you her necklace but we could make a deal. You tell me about what really happened at the school or about whatver Derek Hale is and I can put in a few good words for you."

He stood there staring into space for a second. There was no doubt in my mind he was contemplating this decision. Maybe I really didn't need him to tell my anything- this could be him confirming my suspicions that he knew something about Derek and what he really is. In my eyes, as long as he was in love with Allison, I could always use it to my advantage- he was bound to give in.

"I-I can't," He finally sputtered out. I didn't even care. He would come around.

"Fine. Well okay, bye." The seed is planted. Now to just...wait.

6:45am I was up and running as usual. Recent events inspired me to keep a dagger on my thigh as I jogged, even if it was just for fifteen minutes. You never know in Beacon Hills apparently. I wonder when the FBI would show or something- with all these frequent unsolved murders.

Probably not the best thing to be thinking about as I ran alone in these creepy ass dense woods at the crack of dawn...yeah. I didn't even know if I would actually go to school, but since I'm contemplating I actually might make it a no. I had to let Scott sit on that idea for at least a day or two. Let it eat him alive as he sees my sister cozy up with Jackson. Which was disgusting, by the way.

As I jogged my normal route, this abandonded mansion seemed to call out to me more than usual. I had seen it before but since I changed my mind about going to school, I didn't really have to stick to my fifteen minute time limit.

I stopped in place at the tree line and considered the idea. Fuck it. I shrugged to myself and jogged over to the door. It was a truly huge house, obviously built in the victorian era which made the half burned appearance of it even more creepy. As I cautiously climbed the stairs, a somewhat still intact mailbox caught my eye. The letters H..L...E were still barely visible. Hale.

The name was enough to send me straight through the unlocked red door and into the deteriorating house. It still smelled like straight ash inside and all the blackened furniture was not helping. It was like a real life monster house.

Cautiously, I moved deeper into the house, moving around the stairs and into what I assumed was a living room. There was broken wood and glass all over the floor- most likely not from a fire. I would be lying if I said I didn't have the heebijeebies.

Then, on the floor, I noticed there were..claw marks all over the place and they even differed in size. Like a pack of wolves lived or even fought here. Could that be what connected Derek Hale to all of this?

"What are you doing here?" a disembodied voice startled me so bad that I jumped up and went straight to my knife, chucking it in the direction the voice came from before I even looked.

"Woah!" It was Kate, and thank God she had moved out of the way before I killed her with her own advice. "Always aim for the head," she said as if she was reading my mind. "You've got killer instics. Literally."

"Clearly so do you," I responded, "And I don't know why I'm here exactly. Why are you here?"

"I followed you, silly. I'm concerned. What are you looking for?"

"The answers you won't tell me. That nobody will tell me. I've never felt so out of the loop. This shit with Derek Hale, it doesn't make sense. Not with what I saw."

She raises an eyebrow at me, "what did you see?"

I hesitated. I felt like I had to be very careful. "Something not human. But even if it was- I'm me. I can face anything that's what I do. I've been taught to train my whole life just to be lied too? I threw away so many opportunities to become this freaking assasin just to be trapped in a school-helpess! I can't face what I don't know- I need to know!" That rant felt amazing.

My aunt didn't even look surprised, instead, she just nodded to herself before making direct eye contact with me. "You know, it's not me, it's your dad. He wants to protect you girls. But if you ask me, neither of you, especially you need protecting."

"From what?!"

"Just give me some time, I promise I can give you what you need."

It's important to me the second time around to let the canon story progression happen with Allison and Kate's relationship/her timeline of finding out about wolves. Just letting you know that EVERY conversation that has happened between Allison and Jackson, Kate, Scott, and Chris has taken place.

Do you guys like this ~*~* in between cuts or do you not care. I think I'm pretty good with the pacing and transitions and i know you guys arent dumb. The only time im choppy is with fight scenes, drunk scenes, and after falling asleep. Lmk cuz i dont mind either way
