No matter how she tried, Sheik just couldn't hide it. That look of rapture in her eyes whenever we walked past the shop… I caught her by the window. Sure enough, it was that blue Loftwing plush again. She had a passion for birds, that I knew, but I didn't think she'd be interested in something so frivolous.
"It's more than that," she said, a hint of longing in her voice. "My first time seeing a Loftwing, its wings spread wide as it soared across the sky… I can hardly describe the feeling."
More than anything I wanted to make her smile. I had to do something to make this Christmas unforgettable. I didn't know what I was going to do, but I wasn't about to mess this up.
Come Christmas Day, the whole mansion was champagne, excited faces and presents all around. I snuck away to the garden, however, and was glad to see Sheik already there. I wouldn't tell her why I had her come out here. Instead, I was going to show her, and I gave the signal, whistling loudly. Hearing the call, the blue Loftwing appeared, soaring magnificently in the sky with a jubilant cry. With a little magic know-how from Zelda, anything was truly possible.
As the Loftwing alighted on the ground, gently nuzzling its beak against us, Sheik let out what was perhaps the most beautiful laugh yet, filled with so much happiness…and as I watched her smile, all I wanted then was to hold on to this feeling.
