With the sun shining into my bedroom window I let out a groan as I wake up to hearing Selena outside my bedroom door, "Papi, papi," she calls out. I look beside me and see Sicily still sleeping peacefully beside me, she looks beautiful, she's always been beautiful but the plan was for her to be gone before Selena woke up this morning. Her dark curly hair sprawled out on the pillow, her soft plump lips pursed out, her dark long lashes standing out as her beautiful blue eyes remain closed. "Can I come in, Papi?"
"Just a minute, Selena," I say throwing my arm over my face I don't even know how I am going to explain to my 3 year old why her mom is in my bed or why her mom is here. Sicily was supposed to be gone but time got away from us, we slept longer than we planned. I get up out of bed trying not to disturb Sicily, she stirs a little but doesn't wake up. I let out a soft sigh as I pull out a new pair of briefs from my drawer and then a pair of shorts. I slide them on before throwing my hair up into a messy bun. I grab my glasses off the dresser and put them on. I can hear Selena's little hand on the doorknob as I go to splash water on my face to wake myself up. I dry my face off and head to the door, I look back at Sicily and smile as she's still sleeping. I open the door and close it behind me so that Selena cannot see her mom, I'm not ready for her to see her mom yet nor am I ready to explain why we are in bed together. "Good morning, Princessa," I say with a smile.
"Good morning, Papi," she smiles at me. "What we do today?"
"I don't know, what would you like to do today?"
"Go see fish!" she says with a smile.
I smile back and nod my head, "okay we can go to Seaworld to see the fish."
"Yay!" she says making me smile.
"But let's get you breakfast first and then I will get you dressed and ready for the day."
"Okay, Papi," she says with a smile.
I make her a quick breakfast of eggs, toast and turkey sausage with some orange juice. Once she finishes eating I take her upstairs to her room to get her dressed for the day before I do her hair into pigtails like she requested. She plays in her room while I get myself dressed for the day. Sicily stirs awake, "good morning," she smiles at me.
"Good morning," I say with a smile. "I take it you slept well."
"I did," she smiles as she looks at me. "I did miss you, Damian."
"I missed you too," I say, "I don't know what your plans are for today but Selena wants to go to Seaworld so I am going to take her today, do you want to come with us or no?"
She stretches out and says, "I don't know is that a good idea for me to go?"
"Sicily, it's not like we are going on a date, we are taking OUR daughter to Seaworld, it would be nice to actually do something together so that she can see that we can get along and we are both in this together, if you don't want to you don't have to."
"I think I want to," she says.
"All right," I smile at her. She is absolutely beautiful.
"What?" she asks.
"Nothing," I smile, "would you like some coffee and breakfast?"
"You don't have to," she says.
"I want to," I smile, "and if you would like to take a shower feel free."
"Thank-you," she says.
Just as I am finishing up the breakfast for Sicily and me she comes into my kitchen dressed in the clothes she wore the night before, her hair still wet from her shower hanging down in the perfect ringlets. She takes a seat at the table as I give her the food and coffee. "Thank-you," she says.
"You're welcome," I say sitting to join her.
"So where's Selena?"
"She's playing," I say. "So about last night, are you sure you want to do this?"
"I'm sure, if I wasn't we wouldn't be here now."
"Okay," I say, "I just want to make sure you understand what's happening."
"I do, do you understand?"
"Yes, we're just fucking each other and then when one of us finds a love interest that's over."
"I wouldn't put it into terms like that but yes pretty much," she smiles as she looks at me, "I can't get over how much Selena looks like you. She is your twin."
"I know it's crazy," I smile, "other than having your eyes she's my twin."
"We did good work," she says, "you more than I."
"I suppose, so how is everything with your family, how are your parents doing?"
"My parents are doing pretty good. They are still living in Phoenix, always waiting to see their grandchildren. How about your parents, how are they doing?"
"Good my dad is still in New York and my mom is still in Puerto Rico, I talk to them every day, waiting for this craziness to be over so I can spend time with them."
"Same here," she says, "I miss my mom. So how is WWE life? Is it everything you dreamed of?"
"I love it, I can't believe I made my debut at the Royal Rumble and now they want me to wrestle at Mania, my first Mania appearance. It's exciting."
"I'm proud of you," she smiles. "Congratulations on getting into WWE, are the other guys nice to you like Seth and Roman? What about Ben is he nice to you?"
"I don't really see Roman much because he's on Smackdown and Seth has been off due to having the baby but Ben has been pretty welcoming, I am grateful he is on RAW with me."
"Well, if anyone is worth having a friendship with it's those 3," she says.
"I figured so how are your sisters Chelsea, Jordyn and Kaylee doing?" I ask.
"Well, Chelsea is back with Cody and they are running their own company together she finally gave in to have another baby with him. Jordyn is doing pretty good, she just had her son Josiah so she's been pretty busy even though she swore after Meilani she was done but being a surrogate for Tay and Roman she decided that she wanted to have one more baby so she did as for Kaylee I don't really see her much, she's living in Iowa so she doesn't really talk much with me."
"I see," I nod, "so tell me about this preschool for Selena is it a good one?"
"It's one of the best preschools in Tampa, Chelsea sent Liberty and Langston there so I know it's good. Selena has been on the waiting list since she turned a year old and she was accepted she's going to get the education she needs to prepare her for kindergarten." I nod, "it's a really good school."
"That's good, I only want the best education for her, I regret not completing mine but I know Selena is going to get the best of the best, I will make sure of it," she clears her throat, "we will make sure of it. If you need any help with tuition or payments I got you."
"Thank-you," she smiles as Selena comes into the kitchen dressed in a butterfly romper.
"Mommy!" she says giving her a hug.
"Hey, Beautiful," she says with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" she asks.
"Well," I say, "How do you feel about Mommy coming to Seaworld with us? Are you okay with that?"
"Okay," she nods.
"I'm glad," I smile as Sicily smiles at me. I smile back at her, still not sure why we ever broke up. We had a good thing going with each other, I did truly love her, I still love her but after we got pregnant things just changed, I wasn't good enough anymore it still breaks my heart. I never wanted a broken family for my daughter, I never wanted to live in Orlando while she's living in Tampa, I went through this myself and I promised myself my child would never go through the same and yet here we are. If given the chance I would change this but I know Sicily doesn't want that.
Sicily, Selena and I enjoy the day at Seaworld I get on some rides with Selena, we meet some of the Sesame Street Characters. We watch the dolphin show that she absolutely enjoys. She sticks by my side all day, I carry her and hold her on my lap. I enjoy the time with her it's so much more complicated to get this time with her when she lives in another city than me and right now I have the down time to do these things with her. I don't know what will happen when I am out on the road every weekend because I don't want to give up my time with her. "Look, Papi!" she yells with excitement as we are walking around looking at the orcas.
"Those are orcas," I say with a smile as I hold her in my arms.
"They're big!" she says, "a big fish!"
"They are big, they're not fish though, they're mammals. We call them orcas."
"Oh," she says processing the information. "They're pretty."
"I think they are pretty too," I say with a smile before kissing her cheek.
"Why aren't they fish?" she asks, "they live in water."
"Well, orcas are considered mammals because they breathe air like we do, they have to come up from the water to breathe in the air, fish on the other hand do not need air to survive and if they come out of the water they will die," I explain. "Orcas are actually dolphins."
"Oh," she says.
"Orcas are not dolphins," says Sicily, "they're whales."
"No, they are dolphins, Google it, I love marine biology so I know a thing or two about ocean life."
"I don't believe that," she says pulling out her phone. She looks it up and says, "okay so an orca is a dolphin."
"Told you," I smile.
"Shut up," she says with a smile of her own. "How am I supposed to know you are a marine biology extraordinaire?"
"Could it be because you only wanted me for my body when we were together?" I ask, "you didn't take the time to get to know me."
"No, I know you, Damian," she says.
"Do you?" I challenge raising an eyebrow. "What do you know about me?"
"Well," she says, "I know you're an amazing father to Selena, you're determined, you're strong willed, you have a heart of gold and you're very humble."
"Hmm, is that all you know?"
"What do you want me to say?" she asks.
"I was at least expecting some of my favorite things in life said to me," I smile.
"You don't know me either, Damian."
"So you're admitting that you don't know me and for the record I do know you," I say.
"So what do you know about me?" she asks.
"I know you're competitive, you like challenges, you love to put puzzles together and you love to draw. I know that your favorite sports teams are the Yankees, 49ers and the Lakers. I know you love sports and you were going to go into sports medicine but because your mom had breast cancer you decided to go into medicine. I know you love the color aquamarine and you love Lillies and I know that Lily despite being your niece is also one of your best friends, should I go on or is that enough to prove that I know you?"
"I think that's enough," she says, "so you were paying attention."
"It was hard not to," I smile. "I did want to marry you," I say.
"I remember that," she says as if she's contemplating something.
"Papi," says Selena, "Can we go see the penguins now?"
"Yes, we can go see the penguins now," I say with a smile as we start to walk. I'm nearly stopped by Sicily grabbing my hand, she entwines our fingers as we walk. I look at her and she nods at me letting me know it's okay. It's all confusing for me but I have no complaints.
After an eventful day at Seaworld and spending time with one of my favorite girls we arrive back home and Selena is passed out. I carry her into the house without disturbing her, it's late so I carry her straight to her bed. I put her into her bed and cover her up with her blanket. "Goodnight, Sel," I say before kissing her cheek softly as she squeezes the orca plush she got from Seaworld.
"Goodnight, Papi," she says softly before falling back to sleep. I turn the light off on my way out of the bedroom and shut the door.
I make my way downstairs to see Sicily in the living room. "Would you like anything to drink?" I ask.
"No, I should probably go. I stayed here last night so I should probably go," she says.
"I don't want you to go," I say honestly, "I want you to stay."
"Damian," she says softly as she comes to me. "Do you still love me?"
"I'm not answering that, Sicily besides we have an agreement, sexually exclusive, nothing else."
"I was just curious," she says, "you're such a good dad to Selena, it kind of makes me regret leaving you."
"Sicily," I say, "we're not doing this, not tonight."
"Maybe I made a mistake and I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you, you wanted to marry me."
"Wanted to?" I ask, "I would marry you still in a heartbeat, Sicily."
"So you do still love me?" she asks.
"I don't know, I guess that I do, do you still love me?" I ask.
"Damian," she says looking at me with her deep blue eyes, long eyelashes. I take my hand and cup her cheek, stroking her cheek bone with my thumb. "I don't think I will ever stop. I made a mistake when I left," she says honestly, "and I am sorry."
"I don't think this is being sexually exclusive," I say with a smile.
"Fuck being sexually exclusive," she says, "I want to be exclusive, you and me, no one else, no love interests but each other, I want commitment, I want you, Damian, with me," she says honestly. "What do you think?" I don't even answer, I take her mouth and kiss her with my passion, my feelings, my promise. She breaks the kiss, "we need to figure out how we are going to do this, Damian."
"Tomorrow," I say with a smile before taking her mouth again, I scoop her off the floor and carry her up to my bedroom.
*A/N: So what did you think? Are Damian and Sicily making a mistake? Do you think this will work out better for them? What do you think changed their minds? Please review and thank-you for reading.
