*Thank-you for the reviews on the last chapter they were greatly appreciated. Thank-you all so much!
About a week later, after I work a really busy week at the hospital because of a nursing shortage, I am ready for a break. Damian arranged for Jordyn to babysit Selena so that we could go out and unwind. I definitely need a good night out with my man at the bar, it's been a long time coming. I need this night out. "Wow," says Damian as I walk into the kitchen dressed in black strapless dress that hugs the curves of my body, falling just above mid-thigh, I have my curly hair straightened so that it falls to the middle of my back with a pair of hoop earrings and a diamond necklace, my nails freshly painted a deep purple while wearing a pair of black stilettos showing my deep purple toe nails.
"Like what you see?" I ask with a smile.
"Oh yeah," he says with a smile. "I hope I don't get into a fight tonight."
"I like what I see," I smile at him as I look at him in his distressed jeans, black t-shirt that hugs his body pretty nicely, his tattoos showing, his hair pulled up into a bun. "I mean, we could skip the club and just hang out here," I suggest.
"Nah, I'm planning on getting drunk and having waffles at 2 in the morning, you know like we used to do."
"Sounds like a plan," I say with a smile.
"I hope you don't mind, I invited some friends to come out with us, some friends from NXT."
"It's not Matt is it?" I ask, "I really don't want to hang out with him, not after everything."
"No," he says, "No Matt tonight, just some other friends from NXT."
"Okay, that's cool," I say with a smile, "let's go get wasted, I need this night out with you."
"Believe me, I need this night out with you," he says with a smile. "Let's get going before I take you back upstairs."
"I wouldn't object," I smile.
"I know you wouldn't but we have people to meet, I don't want to leave them hanging."
"All right," I shrug. I grab my black clutch as he grabs the keys to his car. We walk out the back door, he locks it up before we walk to his car, he opens the car door for me and kisses my collarbone softly before allowing me to get in the car. He shuts the passenger door and rounds to the other side. He doesn't just look good but he smells good too. He always smells good, when he gets in the car, he starts the engine, and programs his phone to the car and rock music starts to play as he takes my hand into his, entwining our fingers before he backs out of the driveway.
When we arrive at the club, Damian pulls up in front of the club and hands his keys to the valet after helping me out of the car. We make our way into the club, his hand at the small of my back as he guides me through the crowd, the club is loud and wild tonight. It's going to be a fun night at least I think it is until I meet this girl with dreads in her hair that fall to her bottom, with blue eyes and colorful eyebrows dressed in a crop top and short shorts with a thigh tattoo showing. "Sicily," says Damian, "this is my best friend Kayden, Kayden, this is Sicily, this is Selena's mother." It infuriates me that he refers to me only as Sicily and not just Sicily but Selena's mother, not his girlfriend, just Sicily like we weren't just making love to each other last night, he talks like I am some casual friend. I eye this girl up and down and then look at Damian, I don't like the way he's looking at her and I don't like the way she's looking at him. I feel the jealousy and rage burning. When people say Damian and I are volatile together THIS is exactly how it begins.
"Hey, Sicily," she says with a smile. "It's nice to meet you."
"Best friends huh," I say looking at the hand she extended to me to shake, "cute, I'm his girlfriend," I say staking my claim into Damian, I don't know who this girl is, and I don't know why he introduced me as just Sicily and not his girlfriend, but I am letting her know exactly I am more than just Sicily more than Selena's mother. I refuse to shake her hand.
"Okay," she says, "so, how have you been, D?" she asks.
"I've been doing pretty good," he says before she gives him a hug, I nearly choke on my spit when he hugs her back.
"How is WWE?" she asks.
"Everything I ever dreamed of," he says.
"Well, I'm going to get a drink, clearly you two want to catch up," I say.
"Sicily," says Damain, "please don't be like this. She's just my best friend."
"Oh, just like I am just Sicily and just Selena's mom, speaking of which you know my daughter?" I ask her.
"I have met her a couple times," she says honestly, "Damian introduced her to me."
"Oh, cute, introducing our daughter to other girls," I say, I feel it burning inside of me, I have to get away from Damian and Kayden. "Really, I need a drink," I say before I walk away leaving those two to catch up. I am so agitated as I make my way to the bar, I need something strong, something that's going to get me through the night. I don't want to fight with Damian but he pisses me off so damn much with this girl. I order my drink and wait for the bar tender to bring it to me. "Thank-you," I say as I take my vodka cranberry and take a sip. The coldness cools the fire burning inside of me. I take a seat as Damian and Kayden are talking.
As I am halfway done with my drink ready to order the next one, "I got this," says Damian as he puts the money down on the bar, the bartender picks it up and goes off to make my drink. "Also, I want what she's having, open a tab, her drinks and mine are on the tab."
"So you found me," I say throwing back my drink.
"Sicily, why are you being like this?" he asks.
"Who is she, Damian?" I ask, "who is she?"
"She's my best friend," he answers taking a seat next to me. "That's it."
"Did you fuck her?" I ask.
"Sicily," he says.
"It's a yes or no question, Damian, did you fuck her?"
"A few times," he says, "look before we got back together she was there to satisfy my needs, we had a friends with benefits thing going on."
"Oh, so she's your bed partner, and you introduced her to our daughter, did she fuck you when our daughter was in the house?"
"Sicily, you're being ridiculous, I don't want to fight with you, I hate fighting with you, we were having a good thing. Kayden is just my best friend."
"The best friend that you fucked, that has been in your bed," I say, "and you thought it was a good idea for her to meet me?" I ask. "Is that logical to you?"
"I wanted you two to meet each other because I am crazy about you, Sicily, I love you. I also think that you and Kayden would get along great. You both have the same personality, you both like the same kind of music, I just thought that you two would get along well."
"I think you are an idiot," I say, "you don't introduce your girlfriend to your fuck buddy and think it's okay."
"Okay," he says as the bar tender hands us our drinks, "I screwed up, I am sorry, Sicily."
"Why did you even invite her?"
"Because I thought it would be nice if we all hung out," he says.
"Do you have feelings for her?" I ask.
"Not in that way no, the only girl I have feelings for is you," he says, "there is no one else but you. I love you, Sicily. I am sorry that I thought it would be a good idea to introduce you two to each other but I know I am wrong for that and I am sorry."
"And you didn't introduce me as your girlfriend, you just introduced me as Sicily; Selena's mother, is that all I am to you, Sicily, Selena's mother?" I ask. "Because last week you were talking about how you wanted to marry me, how you wanted this whole life together, now I'm just Selena's mother."
"Damn it, Sicily, you piss me off so fucking much. I don't know why you have to act like this, it's fucking ridiculous."
"Ridiculous that I am upset that the man that told me last week he wanted to marry me, have this whole life introduces me to his fuck buddy not as his girlfriend, no just as his daughter's mother," I say infuriated before I hop off the bar stool to get away from him taking my drink with me. He stops me by grabbing me by the arm, "don't touch me, you don't get to touch me," I say pulling my arm out of his grasp, "don't, Damian, don't fucking touch me."
He lets out an exasperated breath, "Sicily."
"No," I say before I walk away. I make my way to the floor with my drink in hand. I start dancing to the music that's blaring from the DJ. I just want to be away from Damian, I want to be away from Kayden, I want to have fun. I feel a guy come up behind me and start dancing with me. I know it's not Damian but I dance with him anyway, I know it's wrong but the way Damian embarrassed me in front of Kayden, the way it made me feel I want him to feel that same hurt, that same embarrassment.
I dance with this random stranger, his hands all over me, the bump and grinding that's going on between us. I don't even care. I forget all about Damian as I finish my drink on the floor, I am starting to feel it, and looking for another drink just as Damian appears from nowhere, "I'm cutting in," he says with force.
"Dude," says the guy, "go find someone else."
"She's with me," he says removing him, "go," he says.
"Sorry, Dude," says the guy walking away and Damian takes his place.
"So this is how it's going to be Sicily, this is how our relationship is going to be? I piss you off and you're going to run off and dance with the first guy you see to piss me off, that's how it's going to be? I thought that we would be different this time, but you're the same old Sicily."
"So you want to have this conversation right here on the dance floor?" I ask as I stop dancing.
"No, I don't, but you walked away from me," he reminds me, "I came here to see what my girlfriend was up to and then I see this guy all up on you, how would you feel if you came to the dance floor and saw some girl all up on me, how would you feel about that?"
"I would be pissed as hell," I say honestly.
"Exactly, and I'm pissed, believe me I am pissed, Sicily because that's not what I want to see, I don't want to see some random stranger dancing with my girlfriend."
"So I'm your girlfriend, or does that title only apply when you're pissed off?" I ask knowing it's pissing him off more.
"I'm not doing this here," he says, "let's go, Sicily," he says taking me from the dance floor, he takes me to a private area of the club so that we can be alone to talk. He orders us another drink before we sit down. "Sicily, I'm sorry," he says. "I'm sorry."
"Damian," I say.
"Last time we fought all the time, and we didn't talk about things, we need to talk about things obviously you were upset about Kayden."
"I was," I say, "it's insulting that you sit with me last week telling me that you want to marry me and that you love me but you only introduce me as Sicily Selena's mother, I am more than Selena's mother you know this."
"I'm sorry about that, I should have introduced you as my girlfriend and I am sorry that I didn't," he says, "you are far more than just Sicily and our daughter's mother. You are the woman that I love, the woman I want to get to know, the woman I want to grow old with and I want to marry you some day, there are no other girls that I want, you're the only one. Yes, Kayden and I did the friends with benefits thing but that's over now, you're it for me, Sissy. I promise that to you, I am faithful to you and only you. You're my everything, I like the time we spend together, I like what we have but we aren't going to work out if we act like we did tonight, we need to talk about it. My dad once told me that we can't look at it as you vs me, we need to look at it as you and me vs the problem. I created a problem when I didn't introduce you as my girlfriend and I am sorry. Then you created a problem by going to dance with some random stranger on the dance floor, allowing him to touch the body that belongs to me. Seeing that pissed me off, Sicily, when you get like this it pisses me off."
"I'm sorry, Damian," I say as they bring our drinks. "I should have talked to you instead of acting up but I just felt so much anger, embarrassment and jealousy inside of me. I didn't like the way you looked at her and I didn't like the way she was looking at you, then you two hugged, that made me so pissed. You're my man, Damian, and I didn't like it. I shouldn't have danced with some random stranger, but I did it to piss you off, to make you feel like I felt when I met Kayden," I say honestly, "I am so sorry."
"Sicily, we have to work together, not against each other, if we want to make this work we need to work together, not against each other, do you want to make this work?" he asks.
"More than anything," I say, "I want to make this work more than anything."
"Then let's work together, I love you, Sicily, I love you so much and I had no ill intentions when introducing you to Kayden, I truly thought that you two would get along, but in hindsight I see now that that was probably a mistake. I probably wouldn't like to meet a man that was your sex buddy either," he says.
"Damian," I say taking his hand into mine, "I didn't have a sex buddy."
"You didn't have a sex buddy, you weren't with anyone for the last 4 years?" he asks.
"No," I say honestly, "I was a single mother, going through nursing school, I didn't have time for a sex buddy, plus casual sex isn't really my thing, I think we tried that and we see how that turned out."
"Wow," he says, "I am really sorry, Sicily."
"Sorry for what?"
"Kayden."
"We weren't together, Damian, you could have slept with anyone that you wanted, it doesn't matter but we are together now, I do want a little respect especially if you're talking about marrying me and building a life with me. Put a little respect on my name, I'm not just your daughter's mother."
"I know, you're my whole world, Both of you are my whole world. I love you, Sicily. I love you so much," he says before he leans in and kisses my lips softly, I kiss him back with a deep passion, he takes his hands through my hair as he kisses me, I feel all the love, all the passion in his kiss. He pulls away from me, looking at me with his dark brown eyes, stroking my hair softly, I look back at him with my blue eyes. "Marry me, Sicily."
"What?" I ask in shock.
"Marry me, be my wife, build this life with me. I know we haven't been together that long but we have known each other for years, be my wife," he says. I'm not even sure how to respond to this.
"Damian," I say with tears in my eyes. "I thought we were going to take this slow, see how it goes, now you're asking me to be your wife," I say as the tears blur my eyes.
Damian drops to his knee in front of me, taking my hand into his, he looks up at me with his dark eyes. There's so much passion, so much love in his eyes it makes me want to cry harder than I am. "Sicily Batista, I love you so much! This world is better because you're in it, I want you to make my world better, make my life better. It may be crazy but I want to live life with you, have kids with you, build a life with you forever, I want to get drunk in bars, go home and make waffles at 2 in the morning, but I want to come home to you after a tour, after a show, I want to go to bed next to you and wake up next to you every day of my life. I feel this is the right time, and I love you, Sicily, so Sicily Noel Batista, will you marry me, be my wife and build this life with me?" he says.
I have the biggest lump in my throat, tears burning my eyes, I start to cry as his words play in my mind. I think about it, I think hard about it and looking at him feels like an eternity. "I think we should get drunk, go home and make waffles at 2 in the morning together for the rest of our lives, I love you, Damian, I'll marry you, I'll be your wife, yes, I'll build this life with you."
"Sicily," he says as he stands up, I stand up with him as he wraps his arms around me, I wrap my arms around him, "I love you."
"I love you too," I say with a smile before we share a soft passionate kiss. It might be crazy, I may have said yes too soon but we don't have to get married tomorrow, we can take time, build up to our wedding but it's also not like we are strangers, we have been together before, we share a daughter together, I'm not marrying him for her, because I am fine co-parenting with him, I am marrying him for me, because I love him. I know there is no one else, when we were apart, there was no one I wanted to be with more than Damian, I just needed to find myself, build a life for myself, I have never stopped loving him. My mom always told me the right time would come, the right time would come and I would feel it, I have never felt more sure about anything in my life than I do in this moment, that yes was the right answer to this question. I remember my mom telling me about the time my dad proposed to her on Valentine's Day after 6 months of being together, everyone thought it was too soon and while they had their problems, after over 20 years almost 30 years of marriage they are still together, been through everything that was meant to tear them apart and still love each other more every day. That's what I want, and I know that's what I have found with Damian.
After drinking, dancing and celebrating our impromptu engagement, Damian and I arrive back at our home around 2 in the morning. I am literally drunk off my ass as I stumble in the door, he stumbles with me but I know he's not in as bad shape as I am. I make my way upstairs to our bedroom to change out of my dress, I put on one of his t-shirts before putting my hair up into a messy bun on the top of my head. I make my way downstairs to the kitchen as I see him getting out pancake/waffle mix, the ingredients and the bowls. "What are you doing, Babe?" I ask with a smile.
"Um, we got drunk, it's time to cook waffles and have waffles at 2 in the morning," he smiles at me.
"I like the way that sounds," I smile. I kiss his cheek softly before hopping up on the counter as he pours the dry mix into the bowl, then breaks the egg into the bowl before adding some milk and oil to the mix. I watch as he whisks it together and turn on the waffle maker.
He pours some of the mix into the waffle maker while I get the syrup out and get the butter out. He tends to the waffles as I get us some orange juice and pour it into each cup. I get out a plate for us to share as he finishes up the waffles, he takes the waffles out and puts them on the plate I am holding. I make my way over to the island as he follows behind me, we put syrup and butter on our waffles and start to eat them. "It's really like old times," he says.
"Yeah," I agree with him taking. "I miss this life."
"Getting drunk?" he asks with a smile.
"Yeah," I say, "I love being a mom and I love having Selena but sometimes I need a break. I like to forget I have that responsibility sometimes and live like every 25 year old I know."
"Selena is a big responsibility," he says, "so I take it no babies for a while."
"Probably 5 years," I say. "I need to be 30."
"As long as you want to wait," he says with a smile. "You make me so damn happy, Sicily."
"You make me happy," I smile before kissing his lips softly.
"And I know you don't have a ring," he says, "but tomorrow before we pick Selena up we'll go get a ring and then get our girl."
"Sounds like a plan," I say, "when my dad proposed to my mom he didn't have a ring for her either, he gave it to her after she said yes."
"So I'm glad I'm not the only one," he says.
"Yeah, it's crazy, I didn't expect to be engaged after tonight."
"Neither did I but the time felt right and I asked."
"My mom always told me that when you feel it, you'll feel it, and I felt it," I smile.
"I felt it too," he says. "I love you."
"I love you too," I say with a smile.
A/N: Definitely not where I planned to take this chapter when I started it but it felt right. What did you think? Is it too soon for them to be engaged? Do you think it will work out between them? Please review and thank-you for reading.
