Thank-you for the reviews on the last chapter, they were greatly appreciated.
The next morning, the sun shines into our bedroom window, I am not even sure what time it is as I wake up to my phone dinging letting me know I have a new text. My head is throbbing which means I drank way too much last night, and the night just got wild from there. I remember Damian asking me to marry him, I remember saying yes and I remember coming home and eating a lot of waffles before we came to bed to celebrate our future together. I smile as I feel Damian's body against mine and holding me in his arms. I carefully reach over to the nightstand and grab my phone, I see that it's just after 11 in the morning and my text is from my sister Jordyn asking when we were getting Selena. I respond back that Damian and I will be there as soon as we can but we have to make a quick errand before we go to get Selena. Jordyn thanks me and tells me she will feed Selena lunch. I put the phone back down on the nightstand. I turn and bury my head into Damian's chest. "Good morning, Beautiful," he says to me making me smile.
"Good morning, Baby," I say. I feel he kisses the top of my head.
"How are you feeling this morning?" he asks.
"Like I got hit by a truck," I say as he chuckles.
"Me too, last night was crazy, I didn't know I drank that much."
"Neither did I but it is what it is," I say. "So Jordyn asked when we were going to pick up Selena. I told her after we ran an errand we would be there."
"Okay, but maybe before we go on that errand we can celebrate a little more," he says rolling me over onto my back.
"More celebrating, didn't you get enough last night?" I ask with a smile as I look up at him with his dark brown eyes looking back at me.
"I'll never get enough," he smiles, "and I have you for the rest of my life."
"I love you," I say with a smile.
"I love you too," he says with a smile before leaning down and kissing my lips softly. I wrap my arms around his large body, and take my hands through his hair as we share a soft kiss.
We spend the next hour making love with one another before we jump in the shower together and enjoy each other once more before we get out to get dressed, have something to eat and then go to the jewelry store to get my ring. I think about how I am going to tell my family that I am getting married, I haven't even told anyone but Jordyn that Damian and I are back together, now we are getting married. This is really complicated. I look over at Damian as he drives us to the jewelry store as the rock music is playing in the background. He looks gorgeous as always in his black Yankees hat, black basketball shorts and white t-shirt while I am dressed in a pair of distressed jean shorts, and a purple tank top with matching flip flops. "Do you want a long or short engagement?" I ask as he drives.
"It doesn't matter to me," he says, "I could marry you today, I could marry you tomorrow, I could marry you a year from now, it doesn't matter because the end goal is to marry you, it doesn't matter when. Do you want a long or short engagement?"
"I don't know," I say, "I still haven't even told my parents we are back together."
"You haven't told your parents we are back together?" he asks.
"Have you told yours?" I ask.
"I mean my dad knows but my mom doesn't," he says, "I talk to my dad every day and I told him a few weeks ago when we were moving in together."
"So what did he say?"
"He's happy for me, he wants to make sure this is what I really want and I do, I really want this. Why haven't you told your parents?" he asks, "we live together, Sicily, I think it's important that they know."
"It's just I know my dad isn't a big fan of yours and I don't know how he's going to react when I tell him so I have been avoiding it."
"Sicily, he needs to know, I am about to take you as my wife and he needs to know. I know he's not my biggest fan but hopefully I can change that."
"I know he wasn't my Nonna's favorite when he married my mom, it took a long time for him to be liked by her so I don't know why he's not all about you, and when he found out about Cody and Chelsea he beat Cody up. I think Seth may be the only one that he actually liked."
"Well, maybe when he gets to know me better he will like me," he says. "But you need to tell him, Sicily."
"I will, I promise."
"Thank-you," he says before taking my hand into his. "How do you think Selena is going to react?"
"I don't think she will understand, she is only 3 years old. I don't think she's going to understand that we are getting married or what it means."
"She's smart, she might surprise you," he says.
"That's true," I say with a smile. "She is so smart, almost too smart sometimes," I say smiling, "we did good with her."
"Well, she does get that from you, she gets your whole attitude, your drive, your intelligence it's all from you," he laughs, "sometimes it's like a mini you."
"Funny because every time I look at her I see a mini you, she got the best of us both," I say with a smile.
"I don't disagree," he agrees with me. "Let's make another one."
"Excuse me?" I ask.
"Let's make another one, she's going to be 4 soon, I'm going to be 38, let's make another one."
"Damian, slow down. I'm not ready for another one, I thought when I was younger that I would want 5 kids, I am good with 2 or 3 but no more than that, I need at least 5 years between my kids too. I'm not against having another one, I'm just against having one right now."
"All right," he nods, "what if we just didn't try and let life happen like before with Selena?"
"And we see how that turned out, Damian, I think I am going to keep taking my birth control and then after we are married we can let life happen but next time I have a baby I want to be married."
"You could have been married with this one but you said no," he says.
"Because I wasn't ready for a baby, I surely wasn't ready for marriage, one monumental thing at a time."
"Deal," he says, "let's focus on getting married, then focus on a baby."
"Deal," I say with a smile.
When we arrive at the jewelry store Damian and I walk in together, he holds the door for me before taking my hand, a salesperson comes to us immediately. Damian tells her that we are there for an engagement ring because he proposed last night, she congratulates us and takes us over to the display of engagement rings. She gives us some time to look at the rings to decide what we want, or more specifically what I want. "I don't know what to get Damian, they are all so beautiful."
"What about that one," he asks pointing out a beautiful Natural blue sapphire engagement ring with 1/3 ct weight, emerald cut 14K white gold ring. "What do you think about that one?" I look at it, there are three sapphires surrounded by tiny diamonds. I can't deny the fact it's beautiful.
"I like it," I say with a smile, "it's beautiful."
"It's your choice, Sicily, I wish I could get you something bigger but that's not exactly in my price range right now," he says making me feel bad.
I take his hand and look at him in his dark brown eyes. "Damian, it's a beautiful ring and it's the ring that I want. I don't need a rock or a $5,000 ring, I already have your heart, that's all that matters. I am not marrying a ring, I am marrying you, you are more important than any engagement ring, I don't need a rock, what I need is your love and your heart. You're giving me your future and a life with you, that's priceless, nothing compares. I want the ring," I say.
"I love you, Sicily," he says with a smile.
"I love you too," I say with smile.
The salesperson makes her way over, "have you decided?"
"Yes," says Damian, "we want that one," he says pointing to the diamond and sapphire ring.
"That's beautiful, what size do you need?" she asks and Damian turns to look at me.
"I'm a size 6," I say.
"All right," she says, "I'll be right back." She goes to the back and comes back a few minutes later with the ring, I try it on and it fits perfectly. I take it off and hand it back to her. She puts it into a box before we go to the register. She rings everything up, Damian signs up for the insurance on the ring before paying for it with his debit card.
We walk out of the jewelry store and Damian stops causing me to stop. He pulls the ring box out of the bag, "I'm going to do this right," he says with a smile before dropping to his knee in front of me. "Sicily, you're one of the most amazing women I ever met, you're stubborn, strong-willed, intelligent and I love you so much. I want to live a life with you, grow old with you, I want you to be a part of my future, have a couple more kids together, and love each other the rest of our lives, will you marry me, be my wife?" he asks making me smile.
"Yes, Damian," I say with a smile, "I'll marry you." He smiles before taking the ring out of the box and slipping it onto my left ring finger. I wrap my arms around him as he stands up. "I love you."
"I love you too," he says before kissing my lips softly.
After Damian's second marriage proposal to me in 24 hours, the third one in our lifetime together, we head to Jordyn's house to get our baby girl. I'm looking out the window thinking about what Damian said earlier about making another one. I love the one we created together already and although at the time I thought it was the worst timing possible being in nursing school ready to graduate with my bachelor's then going to get my masters in nursing I thought having a baby would have been the hardest and wanted to take care of it. I wanted to terminate the pregnancy but every day I spend with Selena I am glad I didn't make that choice, I'm glad I chose her because she is literally one of my best friends, she has my sass, my fire and my drive and everything of her dad's in the looks department, except my blue eyes. She's beautiful, our greatest accomplishment, our greatest creation. It was hard but I did it, I made it and Damian despite how we ended he has always been there for Selena. He has always been an amazing father to her and I love it. I love the bond they have with each other. "Damian," I say.
"Yeah?" he says taking my hand.
"Let's do it," I say.
"You want to have sex in the car?" he asks with a smile.
I smile, "no, not that, let's make another one."
"Another what?" he asks.
"Another Selena, let's just not try and let life happen, it will happen when it's supposed to, I mean we are getting married, if I get pregnant before that, we can just have a small private ceremony, but I want to do this."
"Sicily," he says, "are you sure?"
"100%"
"All right, we'll see what happens with life," he says with a smile, "but I honestly think that before we do all this you need to tell your parents everything, tell them we are back together and that we are getting married."
"I will," I say. "I mean if we are doing this, they need to know."
"They need to know, Sicily, don't keep secrets from them."
"Yeah, I remember when Chelsea kept the fact she was dating Cody a secret from our dad, let's just say my 11th birthday party ended in a Cody getting punched in the face. Good times as always in the Batista household."
"Shit," he says as we turn onto Jordyn's street, "how did he take Jordyn and Seth being together?"
"He actually handled that one pretty well," I say, "not a lot of drama surrounding their relationship, he just wanted to make sure that she was getting the love that she deserved, after all she was a drug addict, she was trafficked and had a son at 15 so I think that Seth was a breath of fresh air for my dad."
"Yeah probably," he says, "I just hope he doesn't punch me in the face."
"Well," I say, "he does have a temper so it's always a possibility."
"Great," he says turning into the driveway of Seth's and Jordyn's house. I smile as I see my nieces Meilani and Stella outside playing with Jonah and Michael as they play with Selena as I get out of the car.
"Mommy!" yells Selena as she comes running over to me excitedly.
"Hey, Beautiful," I say with a smile as she hugs me. "Did you have a good time with your cousins?"
"Yes," she says as Meilani and Stella come over. Stella is Ben's little girl and she's absolutely beautiful, as is Meilani, all my nieces and nephews are beautiful but Stella looks just like her mom Alyssa. Meilani is 2 years older than Selena, while Stella and Selena are the same age so they all get along well. Our family is pretty tight knit.
"Hi, Titi," says Meilani.
"Hey, Mei, Mei, how are you?"
"Good," she says.
"Hi, Stella," I say.
"Hi, Titi," she says with a smile.
"Papi!" says Selena as she looks up at Damian with a smile.
"Princessa," he says with smile before picking her up.
"I'm going to go tell Jordyn we are here, I'll be right back."
"Okay," he says.
I walk into the house as Damian is outside playing with the kids. "Jordyn," I say, "I'm here."
"In the kitchen," she calls out.
I make my way to the kitchen and smile when I see her holding Josiah in her arms. "I just wanted to let you know that I'm here for Selena."
"Okay," she says, "how was your night?" she asks with a smile.
"How are your kid free nights?" I ask with a smile.
"Amazing," she says with a smile as she glances at my left hand, "um what is that, Sicily?"
"Um, so funny story, Damian and I went out last night, we ended up getting engaged and he bought me a ring," I shrug.
"Well, that's unexpected, I thought you two were taking this slow?"
"J, I honestly wanted to take this slow but it's inevitable that we were going to get engaged, I love him. He loves me. And as I learned about 4 years ago we can't take anything slow."
"I knew it," she says with a smile. "I knew the moment you said you got back with him that it wasn't going to be slow. When should I expect a niece or nephew from you?"
"Whenever life allows it to happen," I say with a smile.
"I see," she says with a smile, "if you ever want to practice Josiah is always available."
"I might take you up on that offer," I say with a smile.
"Do mom and dad know about you two?"
"No," I say honestly.
"You better tell Dad," she says.
"Do you want Dad to punch Damian in the face?" I ask, "you know that dad doesn't like him."
"No, dad doesn't like his daughters growing up, if he can accept Athena marrying Tony after all he did to mom I think he can accept Damian."
"Yeah, but he doesn't like Damian."
"Dad doesn't like a lot of people," she says, "but he really hates secrets."
"I know," I say, "how did you keep him from punching Seth in the face?"
"Easy, I was honest with him, I told him that I had a boyfriend, that he was great with Jonah and we were moving in together. I never kept that a secret from him and he respected that. Chelsea on the other hand decided to sneak around with Cody, and lie to dad about it, so when dad found out he was pissed about it. I don't blame him. I can tell you it's better to be honest with dad then to lie and keep secrets. The way you and Damian are going you're going to be pregnant next month and that's another secret on top of three other secrets, that's going to make dad angrier than anything. I learned to never lie or keep secrets from dad again. I respect him too much to do that. Damian isn't a bad guy, he's a really good father, he takes care of you and Selena, dad has nothing to be upset about but if you keep secrets from him, he's going to be upset, then Damian is going to get punched in the face."
"All right," I say, "I will call dad tonight and tell him."
"Good and congratulations, Sicily, you deserve this."
"Thanks," I say, "and thank-you for watching Selena, I owe you for this."
"Like I said, Josiah is always available for some time with his titi," she smiles.
"And his titi always has time for him," I smile, "all right, I'm going to go. Thank-you."
"You're welcome," she says before I get Selena's bag and meet them outside. I smile as I watch Damian playing with the kids, I will never deny he's good with kids because he is and he is good with me so I don't know why I am so nervous and scared to tell my dad about Damian and me. It can't go that bad, I hope.
A/n: What do you think? Are Sicily and Damian moving too fast, should slow down? What do you think about Sicily not telling her parents yet, how do you think that's going to go? Please review and thank-you for reading.
