"Come here, Selena," I say as I sit down on the couch with my phone ready to call my mom and dad to tell them everything. I know the longer I wait the more upset they are going to be. My dad does not like secrets, he never did like secrets and I know I am wrong for keeping this from him. I also know he's not a fan of Damian which is why I am so hesitant to tell him.
"Yes, Mommy?" asks Selena as she joins me in the living room.
"I'm going to call Peezy and G-Mama, do you want to talk to them?" I ask as Damian comes into the room.
"Yes!" she says with excitement making me smile.
"Okay," I say with a smile before I hit my mom's name in my phone, I click on the camera and soon it starts to ring. I smile when my mom's face appears on the other side. "Hey, Mom," I say with a smile.
"Hey, Sicily," she says with a smile. "How are you doing? How is work going?"
"Mom, I'm doing great but we are in the middle of a pandemic so it's a little crazy, very busy a lot of shortages happening," I explain, "but I still love my job."
"I'm glad to hear it," she says.
"Hi, G-Mama!" waves Selena.
"Hey, Sel," she says with a smile. "How are you?" she asks.
"Good, my Papi is here," she says looking at Damian.
"Your papi?" asks my mom.
"Yes, G-Mama," she says. "He live here."
"Oh really?" she asks as I look at Damian. My child apparently can't keep a secret but then again she's 3 years old so she doesn't think it's bad, she's just excited because her dad lives with her and her mom. "Sicily?" I shrug at Damian.
"Yes, Mom?" I ask.
"Damian is living with you?" she asks.
"Actually, I did want to talk to you and dad about something, is dad home?" I ask.
"Yes, let me get him, but before I get him are you pregnant?"
"No," I say, "I'm not pregnant."
"That's relieving," she says as she goes to get my dad Damian gives me a kiss on my forehead before he takes Selena to another room because we don't know what my dad's going to say and I have NEVER subjected my child to negative things about her dad. I always thought that kids can form their own opinions and she will love him as her father and their relationship, not based on the negative things said about him. I silently thank him.
"Hey, Dad," I say as he appears on the screen with my mom.
"Hey, Sicily," he says, "where's my granddaughter?"
"She is with her dad," I say not telling the whole truth but just half the truth.
"At least he can be a father," he says rolling his eyes.
"He is a good dad," I say, "He is a really good dad."
"Better dad than he was a boyfriend, if he would have been a better man he wouldn't have gotten you pregnant and left," he says.
"He didn't leave me, Dad, I left him is that why you don't like him?"
"I don't like him because he took advantage of you, he was an older man working at a night club that took home a young girl," he says, "he took advantage of you."
"I was a willing participant," I say.
"You were too young to get involved with him and now look, you two aren't together, you got pregnant and are a single mother."
"Did you feel this way about Keilani, or do you just feel this way about me? And what about Jordyn, she was a single mother until she was with Seth. I also wouldn't call myself a single mother when he is very involved in her life. I know he's not your favorite but Dad you're going to need to learn to get along with him and learn to like him. I promise he's a good guy."
"Sicily," he says.
"Apparently Damian is living with her," says my mom.
"So they are shacking up again, trying to have another baby together?" he asks.
"Actually, we are living together, because we are back together," I say. "And he proposed to me last night so we are getting married."
"Wow," he says.
"You're getting married?" asks my mom with a smile.
"I'm getting married," I say holding up my hand to show them my engagement ring. "I love him and I know he's not your favorite, and I know we have a lot of shit to work out but I love him."
"Sicily, I don't think this is a good idea."
"I think it's a wonderful idea," I say, "I know you don't like him but can you please just give him a chance. I promise he has my best interest at heart."
"More like his best interest at heart, he probably only wants to marry you to get up the WWE ladder," he says. "Your brother is one of the best wrestlers in WWE and I'm your dad, Seth is also your brother in law so why not marry you to boost his career."
"No, Dad," I argue, "that's not his intention, his intention is to love me and marry me, to be a family together with our daughter and whatever kids come after her. I'm not asking you to love him, but I am asking you to give him a chance. Please don't be upset, I love him."
He lets out a sigh, "I'm not upset, I'm disappointed, Sicily. I think you can do much better than him but at least he is trying to make things right and marry you but don't feel obligated to marry him for Selena. I just think you deserve better."
"Dad, I think I will be fine with Damian, they don't get any better."
"I hope you know what you're getting yourself into," he says.
"I know, Dad," I say.
"Congratulations," says my mom with a smile. "I'm happy for you, have you picked a date yet, make any plans?" she asks.
"Actually since he proposed last night we didn't really talk much about it. I know that we have to be cautious because of the pandemic and stuff so we will have to work around that but I don't have any details yet."
"Well, I want to help you plan," she says, "I didn't get to help plan Jordyn's because she and Seth just decided to go to San Diego and get married. Chelsea pretty much knew what she wanted and what she was doing, same with Kaylee, you're my last daughter so if you need help planning I'm here to help."
"Okay, Mom," I say with a smile. "I will probably need your help because I never got married before."
"And hopefully it's your only marriage," says my dad.
"Says the man that was married 3 times," says my mom.
"I just saved the best for last," he says with a smile.
"Well," I say, "on that note, I am going to go see what my fiancée is up to, I will talk to you two later, stay safe out there. I love you."
"Love you too," says my mom.
"I love you, Sicily, but make sure that boy knows how to treat you right."
"I'm sure he does," I say, "bye, Dad."
"Bye," he says before the call is ended.
I let out a breath, at least I told him, it went better than I expected but he still doesn't like Damian. I hope that he can grow to like Damian and I am glad that my mom is supportive of our engagement. I smile down at my ring and start thinking about wedding plans. I don't want to wait a long time to get married but I think 6-9 months is a good time frame for us to get married. I get up off the couch and make my way around the house to find my two favorite people. I walk into Selena's playroom and smile in the doorway as I see Damian teaching her some karate moves. I love watching him with her, ever since he moved in they have been inseparable, they play together a lot and he always does what she wants him to do even if it is painting his nails. I love the days he wears barbie pink nail polish all over his fingers from her work. I watch as Damian shows her a few moves and she follows along. It makes me smile. He looks over to me and smiles. "What are you two doing?" I ask before making my way into the playroom and taking a seat on one of her little chairs.
"I was just showing her some karate and martial arts moves," he says.
"I like karate," she says with a smile.
"Have we thought about putting her into anything like sports or dance?" he asks taking a seat on the floor as Selena continues practicing karate moves.
"I haven't really thought about it," I say, "I mean I would like to get her into something but I don't know what. I thought about ballet and sending her to Chelsea's ballet school but something tells me that she's not the ballet type of girl."
He looks at her, "yeah, I don't think she's a ballet type of girl either."
"She's like her mom," I shrug. "I wasn't the ballet type of girl either as much as my mom wanted me to be I just couldn't get into it. I tried it when I was 3, it was the last time when I got up on stage and just did my own thing, I didn't care about pointing my toe and stuff. I pretty much ripped off my tutu and removed my bun. I wasn't having it."
He lets out a laugh and looks at me, "I can definitely see it, so what did you do, what type of activities did you do?"
"I was more sporty than anything, I played soccer and I did gymnastics. I even played volleyball," I say, "but as sporty as I was I also enjoyed the arts like music. I played the violin since I was 5 years old until I graduated high school. I love music, and singing. That's why I wanted to name her Selena after my favorite singer."
"I had no idea that you were so musical," he says with a smile. "I like that."
"Thanks," I say with a smile, "what about you, what did you do?"
"I didn't really have a lot of opportunities growing up but I did do martial arts with my dad at his school when I came to New York. I love Martial arts but I also like music."
"I never would have guessed," I say with a smile. "Selena, do you want to go to ballet with Aunt Chelsea?"
"No," she says shaking her head, "no ballet. Karate," she says.
"All right, we will look for some karate classes for you," I say with a smile. "Selena, would you ever want a baby brother or baby sister?" I ask as Damian looks at me with a smile.
"I want a baby sister!" she says coming to me. "I want a baby sister, mommy. Can I have a baby sister?"
I let out a laugh and say, "we'll see what happens but your Papi and I do have something to tell you," I say.
"Okay," she says looking at me with her blue eyes and thick lashes.
"Your Papi and I are going to get married, which means we are going to have a ceremony and share words with each other."
"Okay," she says taking it in.
"And you get to be our flower girl and wear a beautiful dress, you get to drop flowers on the ground," I say.
"Yay!" she says with a smile.
"And that just means that I am going to be here forever," says Damian with a smile.
"Forever," I say with a smile. "so what do you think about getting married in 6-9 months?" I ask. "I don't think we need to wait a year, what do you think?"
"6-9 months," he says taking it in. He nods and says, "okay. I can do that, how was everything with your dad, did you tell him?"
I let out a breath as Selena climbs into my lap and I hold her. "I told him, he wasn't happy about it but he didn't fly over the top like I thought he would, he said he was disappointed."
"Disappointed in what?" he asks.
"That I'm with you and that we're getting married. He swears that you're using me to boost your WWE career."
"Sicily, you know that's not true, I would never use you for that in fact I am taking a couple weeks off," he announces.
"Why?" I ask.
"I need to rest my back," he says.
"Is it giving you trouble again?" I ask.
"Yeah, so the WWE doctor and my chiropractor suggested taking a couple weeks off to rest it."
"That's probably a good idea, you don't want to mess around with a back injury."
"No, you're right, so I will be home for a couple weeks to take care of Selena while you work."
"Sounds good because I have 12 hour shifts all week long," I say.
"Damn," he says, "We aren't even going to see each other."
"We will just later at night," I say, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay," he says with a smile. "You are out there saving lives that's impressive."
"I think you're impressive," I say with a smile. "I love you."
"I love you too," he says with a smile before leaning in and kissing my lips softly. "Better start planning that wedding if we only have 6-9 months. I can't wait to see how beautiful you look in your dress, and I can't wait to give Selena a baby sister," he says before kissing my lips. His phone rings and he pulls it out of his pocket, he looks at the screen. "I have to take this, I'll be back," he says getting up leaving Selena and I alone in the playroom to play but something feels off with the way he just quickly left the playroom, I can't shake it as I play with Selena.
A/N: What did you think? What's Damian up to? Is Sicily just being cautious and insecure, what do you think? Please review and thank-you for reading.
