(Back, in the dragon's realms ...)
(In the dragon's temple ...)
Drago and Aurora were practicing with a ball for their next Skyball practice. They just waited for their parents to get ready and join their other Skylander friends in town.
"Mom and Dad have already taken a long time" said Aurora a bit bored, "What's going on?"
"I don't know, but I have noticed dad a bit worried" Drago mentioned, "I don't know what's wrong with him"
Instantly, Edel appeared behind the door accompanied not by Johnny, but by Thorr.
"Drago, Aurora ... ready to go to town?" Edel asked.
"Yes, Mom ..." said Drago, "But what about Dad?"
"Well ... there's a problem with him ... he's in the meditation chamber."
The meditation chamber was a new room adjoining the spirit gem chamber. The guardians used it essentially to train themselves mentally and to clear some doubts.
"In the meditation chamber?" Drago asked somewhat indignant that he was not with them, "Is he going to meditate? He promised us to go together! "
Drago ran out of the door through which Edel and Thorr had exited.
"Drago!" Edel yelled.
"I'll bring it, mom" said Aurora and went after her brother.
Drago had reached the door of the meditation chamber and breathed open fire, but it was blocked by an exhalation of ice from Aurora.
"Even though you go in there, you know that he will not react" his sister told him, "When a dragon enters meditation he will not move until he has found his concentration"
"Ah… yes" I had forgotten. But why does he have to do it right now? " Drago asked.
"You said yourself that he was worried about something. Maybe we should give it some time until everything goes back to the way it was before "
"Ok, let's go. I just hope it's not bad for him ... "
(1 Hour Later…) (In the city…)
It was a normal day in Warfang, and the dragons went out to collaborate with the moles in the usual duties: there were message jobs with letters, others to beautify the city, other moles helped fire dragons to forge tools and some armor (however, there was no longer any need for weapons, for now peace reigned).
Above the city sky, Nina was competing against her cousin.
"Hey, you're very slow turtle" Nina giggled.
"Don't compare me to a turtle, I'm just giving you an advantage by being my cousin"
"Really? Did the other 29 times before also give me an advantage?
"Well I ..."
"Hey guys!" yelled Flint, who was accompanied by Drago, Aurora and Rayla, "We are all together now"
"Alright, to the game," Nina declared.
In the city, they had built a small field similar to the one they had near the dragon temple. Some young dragons were also going to practice as it was a very novel and educational game. In the field Spyro and Cynder were talking to Edel.
"Um ..." Spyro said thoughtfully, "So Johnny has that concern too and that's why he needed to clear up the doubts."
"He told me to go ahead, that he would go as soon as he finished his meditation" said Edel.
"Well, he has his business ..." Cynder began, but noticing that Nina and the other young dragons arrived, she immediately fell silent.
"We're here mom ..." said Nina, "Is the field ready for us?"
"Actually, there are still a couple of dragons playing in ..." Edel started to say, but suddenly, a cold frill made them all shiver.
"This feeling ..." Edel thought and then looked up at the sky.
The day was clearly a clear day, but now they were becoming excessively cloudy. And that was not the worst: the white clouds were turning black and the sky was also darkening, as in an eclipse. Then, lightning bolts began to be heard.
"Dark mana ..." mused Cynder, who knew the darkness well.
All the dragons in the city were also very worried, and the little ones hid behind their parents or in their houses. In the sky, a layer of black clouds was slowly descending, and once cleared, a black dragon appeared.
Unlike Cynder, this black dragon was much more robust, it had strange symbol markings on the membranes of its wings. Furthermore, his body was surrounded by black chains that marked him as an "X".
Many voices of the dragons murmured in the city, such as: "Who is that?", "A dark dragon?", And the worst of all that caused the most fear was: "Is it Malefor?".
Of course for Spyro and Cynder the answer was no, they had seen Malefor himself, but there was something about him as if he was a part of the dark master himself.
With a flick of his claw, the dark dragon ordered his army of gargoyles to attack. And in less than an instant, chaos unleashed: dragons and gargoyles began to fight in every corner of the city and in the sky above it.
"Let's go!" Nina yelled at her companions, and they joined the fight.
Drago blew out a blast of fire that incinerated half a dozen gargoyles. Nina used her shadow power to dodge and surprise the unsuspecting creatures and attack them while she was backed by Ash. Aurora and Flint fought together with combined ice and earth supported by Rayla electrifying an enormous number of gargoyles.
It was not supposed to be a problem for an entire city of dragons, but there was something strange as the larger dragons crushed and wiped out the army: they seemed to have no end.
"Nina, watch out!" yelled Drago.
Nina was about to be attacked by one of the gargoyles that had taken her by surprise, but Spyro appeared just in time and rejected her with a strong tail blow. Next, he breathed out a large amount of fire and took down at least fifteen or twenty gargoyles.
"Nina, are you okay?" Spyro asked.
"Yes, thank you dad"
This time, Spyro was a little distracted and did not notice a sudden attack from another creature: a Wyvern. This time, he was saved by Cynder, who used a scream so loud that she rejected them easily.
"I take care of you both ..." she scoffed.
"Spyro, they seem to be increasing in number," Ray said with difficulty as he electrified a group of Wyverns.
"We won't be able to kill that many ..." Nina said when she saw the number of enemies that had arrived in a second wave.
Spyro had to think fast: how to get rid of all of them? And then, he had an idea: the black dragon that commanded them.
"You guys stay here and protect the city" he finally said, "I will stop him."
"Be careful, Spyro" Cynder asked, "He is not an ordinary dragon"
Spyro nodded before taking flight in the direction of the dragon. However, before arriving, he found himself surrounded in midair by a good number of Wyverns.
Spyro was able to defend himself, but something unexpected happened: one of the black dragon's chains attacked fiercely and knocked down several of his allies and, by an inch, Spyro was only injured with a scratch.
"Did you like it, dragon?" the enemy scoffed.
"You attacked yours too ..." Spyro said.
"Those? They were just trash, I have an even better hunting ... "
"Hunting? What are you talking about?"
The stranger just laughed as he said:
"My current name is Rea and, let's say ... I'm a fan of rare species, and a dragon is the rarest of all ..."
Spyro understood what he was referring to, but something was wrong:
"But, you are also a dragon!"
The chains around his body came loose.
"Do you really think that?" he said before attacking.
Immediately, the chains lengthened so fast that Spyro had to move before he was caught. Just when he seemed to have succeeded, the chains whirled and lunged back, forcing him to move again.
As soon as Spyro dodged the attack, he went on the offensive: launching a puff of fire, he attacked Rea. However, the chains immediately protected him. When he prepared to launch a second attack, he felt a grip on his leg: the chain had caught him. Before he could exhale any more, his mouth was closed and the chains released a strong electric shock that paralyzed him. Also, little by little, he felt mana being extracted from him.
"My prize of the day! I will take the body back home, after Malefor leaves it dry ... "
"Malefor?" Spyro thought upon hearing that, for he was gagged.
"Too much tallking..."
Rea launched another chain attack from him, and Spyro had to close his eyes from the attack. However, the blow did not come and he had to open his eyes; the black chain was being restrained and a dragon stood between the weapon and his prey: Jhonny.
