I don't own One Piece! This world belongs to Eiichiro Oda and these amazing characters are his. My OC'S and this story, however, are my own! This is a work of fiction from me, any relevance to the real world or other works is purely coincidental.

Zoro

Zoro glared at the building in front of him. A voice in the back of his mind was screaming out a warning. Something, though he didn't know what, was oddly familiar about all this.

"Hey," Alba shouted, her feet carrying her past him and closer to the cliffs overlooking the shimmering ocean nearby "take a look at that."

The group followed, glancing down to find ropes tethering another line of debris to the island. It swayed slightly in the ocean currents, bobbing a little but never straying far like true destruction would.

"The debris is tethered to the island," Alba announced.

"It's an anglerfish," Sanji reasoned, and Nami nodded nearby.

"What?" Zoro questioned; he didn't like riddles. Especially from target-face.

"It's a trap," Nami clarified, "anglerfish use a light that floats in front of their face to lure in pray before eating. It's the same here, someone strung together pieces of ships hoping it would bring people like us here."

"Do you think it could be a cry for help?" Alba questioned, glancing around.

"I doubt it, someone with the resources to build lines like these wouldn't do it to ask for help," Nami concluded.

Alba sighed, "Are we leaving then, since this is some sort of a trap?"

"I'm not running." Zoro stated placing one hand on his swords. He'd never been one to run from a fight unless it was absolutely necessary, and he wasn't starting now. Though it didn't surprise him that Alba wanted to flee, the massive scar down her back proved she was willing to turn her back on her enemies. She'd been branded a coward in his eyes.

"I unfortunately have to agree with rocks-for-brains," Sanji sighed, "even if we wanted to take off there's one massive problem with that logic."

Suddenly a large explosion sounded in the distance. Everyone froze, their gazes turning toward town where a billow of smoke was starting to rise into the air.

"Luffy!" Zoro shouted in unison with Nami and Sanji.

Zoro's feet started moving, following his crewmates as they raced through the ragged looking structures to what he could only assume was the center of town. Luffy really did like making a mess of things.

Alba's voice sounded behind him, but Zoro kept moving. She was keeping up so whatever she was saying could wait. Besides some distance between them was probably a good thing. It seemed to Zoro like his hands were aching to touch her, worse still the more he did the more he wanted too. When she'd nearly stripped in front of him… well he didn't want to think about it.

"Wait," Alba hissed, her hand gripping his arm and yanking him back just before a cliffside opened up in front of him, the roaring sea crashing into jagged rocks below. Zoro glanced around, finding no sign of Nami or Sanji anywhere nearby.

"You turned right," Alba breathed, her hand still holding his arm, "I didn't know what to do, or why you split from the others, but I'm glad I followed you."

Zoro glanced down at her tiny pale fingers wrapped around his arm. She was surprisingly strong for her small size and he had seen determination in her intense gaze. An unshakable need started burrowing itself deep inside him and Zoro kept still, waiting. Alba's golden gaze followed his arm down to her own fingers before she quickly released him, taking a step back that both calmed and frustrated Zoro.

Alba turned to face the opposite direction hiding her face from his view, "I'm guessing we need to head this way."

Zoro reluctantly followed as she walked past a few buildings before stopping. Alba glanced left and right before shaking her head, the golden-blond streaks in her hair shimmering in the intense sunlight.

"I think we're lost," she concluded, crossing her arms, "you took so many odd turns it was all I could do to keep up."

"But it should be here," Zoro reasoned "I was heading directly into town."

"In what world was your crazy run-around direct?"

"In the real world."

Alba laughed then, actually laughed. Her voice echoing through the nearby buildings and Zoro couldn't help but notice how incredible it was. She didn't giggle or chuckle like a lot of women did, as if trying to hold back their voice. Hers was deep and real, shaking her whole body as an almost musical sound reverberated around them. Zoro grinned, simply concluding that he liked it.

"Well, well, well," a deep voice interrupted, stirring anger in Zoro's gut.

Alba stopped laughing and froze, her normally passive eyes widening slightly in fear as she gazed at something behind Zoro. Zoro gripped one blade, pulling it free before spinning around, finding a large dark-skinned man carrying a huge mallet over his shoulder. Spiky hair stood atop his head, adding to his already near giant-like height. Bright clothes were a stark contrast to the tattoos covering his entire body, deep black lines that accented his enormous muscles.

"Looks like we caught some more of you," he chuckled "more bounties for the boss."

A thought appeared in Zoro's mind after that, one he would have to set aside for later. Though now he was pretty sure he had a good idea of where they were, and it wasn't good. Zoro pulled his other two blades, placing one in his mouth before taking a fighting stance. His muscles ached just at the action, reminding him that he wasn't fully healed. His head was pounding and pain accompanied almost every movement, but he wasn't going to run. Zoro could hear Alba moving around behind him, but he ignored her. Whatever she was doing it didn't matter, Zoro himself was going to take this guy down. Heck, she could even take off if she wanted to, in fact something in his core actually wanted her to. Even though it was cowardly, even though he hated cowardice. If she ran, she was safer, and some unexplainable part of Zoro wanted her safe.
