The First of Many
Ojiro walked side by side with Tooru. The girl seemed nervous, at least from what he could tell by the shifting of the clothes and the gloves she was wearing. Well he supposed he was a little nervous too, this was their first official date after all.
Honestly when Tooru asked him, she didn't just ask, she yelled it, which made their friends look their way, and in turn make the two feel even more embarrassed. But Ojiro was more than happy to accept, even with the situation they were in.
Given they were still students they couldn't exactly go to a fancy restaurant, so Ojiro opted to take Tooru for a walk through the city park, and much to his surprise she arrived carrying a picnic basket for the two of them.
Neither of them had said much yet, walking in silence with Ojiro glancing down at Tooru and her quickly turning away as he did so. He chuckled at how shy she was sometimes. It was adorable.
"So the basket. Did you make the food yourself?"
"Huh, uh... not all of it, I had a little help." Tooru ran up in front of him to the base of a tree, the leaves of which provided them with thick shade. She sat down with her knees folded under her and waited for Ojiro to join her.
He gave her a warm smile before sitting down cross legged a few feet away, "Thank you for inviting me... I mean for asking me on a date, I think, I think I needed a little break away from everything. We all do."
"Oh! No problem. I'm glad you said yes! I was so worried when I shouted it at you. So embarrassing!" Tooru cupped her cheeks.
"It's alright, I'm happy to be here." Ojiro took one of Tooru's gloved hands in his own, "Really."
The two just stared at each other for a few moments, letting the peaceful moment wash over them.
"Would you... like to try some?" Ojiro blinks at Tooru, she gestures at the basket fool of food.
"Oh!" Ojiro laughs awkwardly and scratches the back of his head, his tail lightly thumping on the tree, "Sure, you brought it for us, I'd love to have a taste."
Tooru opened the books filled with different kinds of sandwiches, juice and little cupcakes. Ojiro smiles and reaches for a sandwich. He takes a small bite, chewing slowly before swallowing. Tooru watched closely while fidgeting her fingers in her lap. Suddenly Ojiro looks at Tooru with a beaming smile, "It's damn good Tooru!" He wolfs down the rest of the sandwich, not even noticing the way his tail swished back and forth behind him.
As the two ate Tooru couldn't help but notice the way Ojiro stared at her, "W-What?"
"Well..." Ojiro swallowed the last bite of his third sandwich, "I'd like to do it."
"What?!"
"Kiss your cheek." Ojiro smirked, seemingly fully aware of his innuendo. "It only seems fair, given that you already kissed me. I just uh... I'm not sure..." Ojiro glanced away with a small blush on his face.
"Oh." Tooru realized what he meant. She thought about it a little, explaining it might feel awkward so...
Tooru reached for Ojiro and cupped his cheeks, guiding his lips to her cheek. She felt him smile against her skin before placing a firm, but brief kiss on her cheek. "Thanks." Ojiro reaches up and takes one of Tooru's hands in his.
Tooru nods frantically, actually really happy that Ojiro can't see how red her face is right now as she leans her head against his shoulder. Ojiro responds by leaning his cheek onto her as they watch the sunset together, hopefully the first of many.
