A/N: So, yeah, apparently I don't know how to work on my bigger, more important projects anymore. My brain is like "No! Must write all the many, many ideas coming" and won't let me focus on old projects. Please forgive me and enjoy the little number here.
OOOOOOOOOOO
David walked in the rain, not caring about the little storm that was brewing. Nothing would stop him from getting to his goal.
Calli had called him.
She needed him and Hell forbid anyone get in his way before he got to her.
He saw her sitting in the bar, looking so out of place with people that smelled like piss, sweat, and stale, cheap cigarettes. His little witch kept flipping tarot cards over for people, letting them know what their futures held for a few dollars per question. He could see the little pile of money that she had formed in her beanie that she guarded in the crook of her elbow.
Calli, he called out to her as he moved towards her.
Those beautiful tri-colored eyes turned towards him and he saw the extra moisture in them, not budging her much improved quality eyeliner. (Thank Paul and Marko.) Calli brushed back a strand of her red hair and looked back at the person asking the final question and told them what her cards meant before the woman wandered off. Calli whispered a small "thank you" to her cards before slipping them back into her leather card sleeve, embossed with a moon.
"Making money tonight, Calli?" David asked, pressing a kiss to her temple as he took a seat next to her.
"Considering I don't have a job at the hospital anymore…yeah…I've got to make money somehow," Calli muttered, slipping her earnings into the purse at her side. She pulled her beanie onto her head and turned to look at him. "I don't know why I feel so bad about it."
"About making money in the way that you know how?"
"No, about not having the job at the hospital and after…you know…even though so many of those people hated us housekeepers and each other. It was pure insanity. But…I miss the repetition and the patients. Hell, I miss my boss."
"Too bad," David said, ordering a couple bottles of whisky. "You got to go back once because you were pretty convincing with your tongue…but you don't get to pull that same trick twice. Especially when they started treating you like shit to the point that several of them had to meet an untimely end."
Calli pushed her bottle of whisky aside like a cat that was annoyed by something so close to her. David rolled his eyes and helped himself to his own.
So, she's in one of those moods…
"I need something to do, David."
"You live in that big house with plenty of things to occupy your time when we're not around. You have plenty of hobbies and don't pretend that you don't."
The witch sighed. "They're not going to make me money."
David snorted which was something he rarely did because he found it unattractive. "You're joking, right? Calli, you've made hundreds on your books and art alone. So fuck your pathetic excuse of how it won't make you any money."
Calli reached out and knocked her bottle off the counter, letting it shatter on the floor next to his feet. David let out a growl and his ice blue eyes turned towards her. Calli glared at him, challenging him with her eyes.
"Bye," she said in a hard voice as she rose to her feet.
"It's raining," David told her, eyes narrowed.
"So go snore somewhere, Old Man."
"Bitch."
"Asshole." Calli snapped, throwing her middle finger up in the air as she walked away.
The door swung shut behind her and David sat there, nursing his bottle of whisky. He heard the crack of thunder roll overhead several minutes later and rolled his eyes. Pushing himself to his feet, he slapped down some money and headed out into the storm.
She's going to end up with a cold or something worse, David thought, blue eyes scanning the street for his girl as his nose scented the air. And I'm going to kill anyone that decides to mess with her…then deal with her…
OOOOOOOOOOOO
David found Calli stomping in ankle deep water in front of a bus stop and growled as he pushed her under the shelter of it. Calli growled back at him and kicked out with her boot, but he deflected it, knocking her back against the plexiglass.
"Look at yourself," David said, glaring at her. "You look…"
"I know what I look like," Calli muttered, crossing her arms over her chest in a vain attempt to hide the fact that her shirt was sticking to her like a second skin and her nipples were hard from the cold. "You can take a picture to remember what I look like because that's all you get."
"Is that so?" David growled, advancing on her.
Calli stuck her chin up defiantly and he kissed her hard, fiercely. One of his hands tangled itself in her hair and pulled on her soaked tresses while the other touched her between the legs. Calli moaned into his mouth as he woke something up in her and he took the opportunity to slide his tongue into her mouth, tasting her, dancing with her tongue…
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
David looked over at Calli as she slept on the bed hours later, having come home after their quickie in the rain and doing it again for hours all over her house. She was curled up on her side, hand stretched onto his chest and a small smile was on her face.
He smirked and looked up at the heavens. That's my girl…
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
