It was nearly ten at night, and after two grueling hours of trying to get Finn to study for his big exam the next day, Logan Huntzberger wanted nothing more than to curl up with his girl on the couch in what was now their apartment. After what felt like eternity, the elevator finally reached his floor. Extracting his keys from his pocket, smile on his face, Logan opened the door. And stopped.

Rory was on the phone, laughing at whatever the other person on the line had just said. Not wanting to interrupt, Logan stayed where he was.

"Really, Mom," he heard her sigh, back pressed up against the partly open door, "your twenty one year old daughter phones you up to tell you she's just moved in with a guy for the first time ever and the first thing you ask is 'Did I jump up and down on the bed?' There was a brief pause. Then, "Of course I did. How was it? Springy, but not too springy that you fear bodily harm if you sit down too hard. He's even got really nice pillowcases. No wonder his hair always looks so good. I just said that out loud, didn't I?" Rory groaned, and Logan had to stifle a laugh, figuring Lorelai's ribbing at that wonderful statement would be more than sufficient.

"Pillowcases and hair quality aside, I'm really surprised how normal it all feels. I mean, yeah, I've obviously been here before, but it's Logan's space, and I was wondering how I was going to fit into it, you know? Would it look like his place, with just my stuff residing in it? But it doesn't. He even made sure to get my favourite coffee for me and made room for all my books and I just know that he took some of his favourites off. How? Because i found them hidden in the cupboard with the mop. It's useful to know where the cleaning supplies are, mom! Anyway, if I wasn't so touched by the gesture, I'd pull him on his treatment of classical literature. Yes, only me, I know," Rory said, and Logan could picture her rolling her eyes as he heard her put her cup of coffee in the sink, even going so far as to rinse it. God, she was too good for him.

And he was glad, so very, very glad that she felt like the apartment was hers to, that she hadn't freaked out at the big step in their relationship. Because he'd never moved in with anyone, either, and if he had to keep his books in the cupboard with the mop, then he was fine with that, so long as she was happy. Besides, a few of them were ones she already had, not that he'd ever tell her that. There would be no end to the boys' teasing if they found Logan reading Pride and Prejudice or Little Women or Jane Eyre.

"No, mom, I didn't find any skeletons in the closet, gold or otherwise...Yes, I did find something. No, I'm not gonna tell you. Why? Because he's my boyfriend and not only do I love him, I respect him and his privacy. Mom! Fine, if you really must know, I was a red flashing reindeer tie, you know, one of those battery operated ones with a tag saying, 'Hope you have a flashing good Christmas, mate. Kisses, Finn.' There, you satisfied? Good. No, I will not make him wear it for you to Grandma's. No, not even if you bring me dinner from Luke's for the duration of the year." Lorelai must have said something along the lines of, 'You must really love him, then,' because Rory replied, "Yeah, I really do love him," causing his heart to melt in his chest.

Right back at you, Ace, he thought as Rory finished her call. Knocking dramatically, Logan stuck his head round the door, unable to keep the grin off his face. At his expression, Rory rolled her eyes, tossing her phone onto the coffee table.

"How much of that did you hear?" she asked with her back to him, rummaging around in the fridge, as if she could tell that he hadn't eaten since heading to Finn's.

"Enough to know that I better make sure the doors are locked lest your mom comes sneaking in to steal the mattress while we're asleep," he teased, hanging his coat up next to hers.

"Hey, a mattress of such high caliber should be sufficiently praised. Not that your ego needed the boost," Rory quipped, shutting the fridge with a hip, arms laden with food.

Logan shook his head, picking stuff out of her arms and placing them on the counter. "Really, Ace, it's late. You don't have to do that," he murmured.

"I know, but I want to. You'll need your strength to fend off my mom with your trusty mop when she comes for the mattress."

Logan took the proffered sandwich.

"How was it?" his girlfriend inquired once he put the empty plate in the sink.

"For you? Surprisingly edible. Listen, Ace, I just wanted to say..."

Rory frowned at his pause. "What?"

Logan ran a hand through his hair, hoping she couldn't see his shaking fingers. "Well, I know that you didn't have a lot of time to consider your options when Paris kicked you out and all," he began hesitantly, "and that you never do anything without just reasoning, and we hadn't talked about it, but... I'm glad you're here, Ace. Really glad. I like to think that we would have got here eventually, but the fact remains that I never thought I'd be so happy to know that I've got someone worth coming home to at the end of the day."

In a flash, her arms were winding around his neck, and she was pulling his face down to hers as she kissed him."God, you could give Austen a run for her money," she breathed against his mouth, and Logan didn't dampen his chuckle as he kissed her on the nose.

"I'll take that as a compliment of the highest order coming from you, Ror. But I meant every word."

She nodded, fingers smoothing over the nape of his neck. "I'm sorry my mom knows about the tie," she apologized, a guilty flush on her cheeks.

Logan shrugged. "It's cool. I can always bribe her with a good cup of coffee."

Rory nodded sagely. "That you could. Now, what could I do to bribe you into helping me unpack?"

He grinned at her teasing tone, pulling her in tight. "Honestly? I can think of only one thing."

"And what's that?"

"If you stay forever."

Another kiss, soft and lingering and sweet. "Done."

Author's Note: Hello, fellow Rogan shippers. Again, another one-shot I've had lying about in my drafts that I finally finished. Domestic Rogan will always have a special place in my heart, and I wish we could have had a moment like this on the show. I know in the actual episode, Christopher (*grimaces* sorry if you're a fan, I just don't like him) comes over and all, so I just changed that. Personally, I think this is better, but I suspect I'm biased. I'd love it if you left a review and shared your opinions and thoughts!

Thank you so much for reading and happy Friday!

All my love, Temperance Cain
