Not My Job

Tony stood in the center of a holographic sphere filled with different news reports, skimming the headlines for anything that would help him understand how anyone could get the upper-hand on the Sorcerer Supreme.

"Where are you, Doc?" Tony asked, his eyes drifting from one news report to the next. There were multiple angles of the fight with Baron Mordo but there was nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps it was something he couldn't see in the tangible world, maybe whatever sent the Doc away had to do with the occult. Something an engineer could never hope to understand.

Tony outstretched his arms and curled them back into himself, closing the sphere before plopping down into the seat next to him.

"Nothing, huh?" Tony glanced over at the entrance where Pepper stood wearing a look of concern.

"It's like he just vanished. I have no clue how to bring him back." Tony admitted. "Where do you start with something like this? I grew up in a world of science where everything follows a mathematical pattern. Ever since people like the Doc showed up the world makes no sense."

Pepper crossed the room and knelt in front of Tony, placing overlapping hands on his knee. "It's been a long day and you've been searching since you got back from the fight." To emphasize this, Pepper reached a careful hand and grazed her fingers over a dried cut on Tony's temple. "Maybe you should take a break, get cleaned up and try again with a clear head."

The corner of Tony's mouth pulled up into a half smile as he grabbed Pepper's hand. "You're right." He placed a kiss on Pepper's knuckles as he stood up. The pair exited the room and headed upstairs, as they passed the large window overlooking the Pacific Ocean, they heard a knock on the glass. The Knocking was insistent and sporadic.

Instinctively, Tony shoved Pepper behind him. Then, lightening flashed revealing a familiar silhouette; a large sheet of darkness billowed in the wind. Tony gently pushed away from Pepper in a gesture that told her to remain where she was.

"Doc?" Tony chanced but no answer came. The knocking continued as Tony approached the window. He opened it slightly and in an instant, he was drowning in damp red fabric. Tony flailed around as he tried to regain control of his body. He managed to claw the red fabric of the Cloak of Levitation away from his face and catch his breath.

Pepper joined Tony as the Cloak finally released him. Tony stood up, irritation clearly written on his face. "Man, I knew the Doc didn't like me but to have his Cloak try to smother me…" Pepper elbowed Tony, she could tell that he was somewhat relieved by their new visitor.

"Well, where is he?" Tony asked, glancing around outside as the lightening flashed once more.

"I think the Cloak is trying to tell us something." Pepper pointed out as she nodded toward the Cloak as it danced around for attention.

"Great, unfortunately, I don't speak magical curtain." Tony said.

At that the Cloak billowed and tucked one of its corners into itself before removing the Eye of Agamotto from its folds.

"I'm going to guess that it's a bad thing that the Doc doesn't have that anymore." Tony said.

The Cloak whipped around and lunged toward Tony with a speed the billionaire was ill prepared for. When the Cloak pulled away Tony was wearing the Eye of Agamotto around his neck.

"Oh No, No way. Not my job!" Tony exclaimed.
