The sunny skies of Brisbane have now been covered by a woven blanket of storm clouds that were now showering the local plant life and fauna of the Queensland Capital city. The Heeler family car pulled in to the drive way of their home, Bandit turned off the ignition to the car and sighed while looking out the window watching the rain pour down. "Well kids, I'm sorry today turned real bodgy." he replied looking in the rearview mirror at his kids. "Are you joking, today was so much fun!" Bluey replied shocked by her father's notion. "Yeah, we got eat those yummy sausages!" Bingo added. "German Sausage!" Levon chanted. Bluey and Bingo sooned joined their brother and started chanting. Bandit chuckled and smiled at his kids positivity. He felt the loving hand of his wife on top of his, he looked and saw a warm, reassuring, and loving smile that confirmed today was great and that they all had fun even despite the rain and Bluey almost losing her favorite toy.
As the family got out of the car to unpacked all the gear from their picnic and began to head in to the house. The rain had finally stopped, much to the shock of the whole of the whole family. "WHAT!?" Bluey shouted unable to comprehend what just transpired and she wasn't alone. "This is OUTRAGEOUS!" Bingo added. Chilli and Bandit were not surprised, but chuckled at their children's reaction. "Come on kids, let's get inside." Chilli called out as she turned around, she suddenly heard her son Levon calling Bluey and Bingo out. She went back outside to the front porch to see the three Heeler children looking up at the sky, as she looked up and saw the most beautiful sight anyone in their life could ever see. Two large Rainbows stretched across the sky. "Wow." Bluey said in wonder, taking in the beautiful sight before her, and her family. Bandit came back to see what was taking his family so long to come in the house. He looked up and the two rainbows, Chilli tapped his shoulder and looked at her. "Honey, take a picture." Bandit pulled out his phone and took the picture of Levon, Bluey, and Bingo looking up at the sky, with the double rainbow in frame. "Aww, we're getting that framed." Chilli said as Bandit showed the picture to her. "Definitely." He replied as they watched their children enjoy nature's gift.
After a while, the double rainbow had faded away and the Heeler siblings gathered in the living room. "Hey Mum since it stopped raining, can we go play outside?" Bluey asked as her dad and mum were walking into the kitchen. Chilli stopped and gave it some thought, "Sure the yard might be a little muddy though, but I don't mind you kids playing outside." "Hooray!" Bluey and Bingo cheered at their mothers' answer. "Don't worry Mum, if we get dirty we promise to hose off before we come in the house right girls?" Levon asked his sisters. "Right." Bingo and Bluey both replied. "Okay as long as you keep your promise. I'm going to get dinner started." Chilli said as she went into the kitchen. "Alright, race ya outside girls!" Levon said as he raced out of the living room. "HEY" Bluey shouted. "No fair!" Bingo also shouted as she and her older sister raced after their older brother.
As Levon raced through the kitchen leading to the door outside, he stopped right as he reached the porch where the backyard and saw the yard. The once green grass was now replaced by a huge mud puddle. Levon stood in amazement and turned to see Bluey and Bingo now entering from the kitchen to join him. "Girls, come look at this." he motioned them to marvel at what was before them. "Wow" a response that Levon was hoping to hear. "Bluey, Bingo, my dear sisters with this mud pool. The possibilities are endless." he said as he turned to face his siblings with his hands on his hips. "Well, what do we play?" Bingo asked waiting for older her brother or older sister to come up with a game. "Well, I don't know about you two..." Levon trailed off as he spread his arms beside him and proceeded to fall backwards off of the porch and into the mud, much to the surprise of his sisters. He hit the mud with a splat and began to swim backwards like he was swimming in a pool. "I'm going for a swim." He then finished. Bluey and Bingo laughed as they watched their brother "swim" around the yard.
They then copied him as they too joined in for a swim. "Hey, watch this." Levon said as his sisters stopped to watch what he was going to do, he then grabbed some mud, closed his eyes and smeared the mud across his face. "Look, I'm Grandad." Levon said opening his eyes. Bluey and Bingo then proceeded to put mud across their eyes as well. The Heeler siblings shared a laugh as they continued to play in the mud and their bodies were soon covered head to toe in mud. Bluey and Bingo saw Levon moving his arms back and forth like he was doing jumping jacks. "What are you doing?" A familiar voice called out to the muddy Heeler siblings, they all looked behind to where the voice came from. It was Judo Spitz, the daughter of their next door neighbor, Wendy Spitz. They lived on the house left of the Heeler Residence. "We're playing in the mud pool and I'm making Mud Angels." Levon replied to Judo's question. "Why? You're just getting dirty. What's even the point of it" Judo retaliated Bluey and Bingo were too stunned to speak and they looked at Levon for an answer. "Well why would people spend money on getting mud masks and mud treatments, when they could just do what we're doing for free. Bluey and Bingo looked back at Judo and saw she had no rebuttal and disappeared back over the fence, probably to go ask her mum.
The Heeler children continued to play in the mud until. "Kids, it's almost time for dinner." Chilli called out as she came out on the porch. The Heeler siblings looked as they saw their mums eyes widened. "Holy Dooley, you kids are having fun aren't ya." she chuckled. "Just be sure to hose down before you come in please." she said as she went back into the house. "Yes mum." Levon replied. "Okay girls, time to hose ourselves down." he said as he got up to go bring the hose around. As he readied the hose, he unkinked it and began to hose himself down. Once he looked himself and didn't see any mud, Levon looked at Bluey and Bingo. "Okay, which one of you is going next." he asked his sisters. Bluey and Bingo looked at each other. Levon rolled his eyes with a smirk on his face and turned the hose on both of them. They both squealed and laughed at being sprayed. Bandit came out to he what his kids were up to. "Hey kids, mum says dinner's almost done. Are you guys done hosing off?" He asked. "Almost dad." Levon replied as he sprayed Bingo in the back, while Bluey shook off the excess water off of her. "It's tickling my bottom!" Bingo laughed as the water sprayed her. Her brother chuckled as he kinked the hose and went to go put it away and turn it off. Bluey was on the porch with her dad, while waiting for her siblings. "You kids finished hosing off?" Bandit asked as his son shook off the water dripping off of him.
"Ready dad." Levon replied as he turned to see Bingo struggling to shake off the water like Bluey and him just did. Bingo grunted in frustration "This is trifficult." he patted his sister and smiled at her. "It's okay sis, you'll get it one day." Bingo looked up at her brother. "How long will that take?" she asked with sad look on her face. "Well it took me a while and it took Bluey longer. But you never know, you could do it as soon as tomorrow." He replied while assuring her. Bingo lit up with excitement and her tail was wagging. "For real life?" she asked "For real life." Levon reassured, ruffled his little sisters head as Bingo giggled at the gesture. "Now, let's go see what Mum cooked for dinner." He said as he began to walk into the house. "Yeah!" Bingo replied as she ran passed him and into the kitchen. As Levon walked into the kitchen, he was stopped by Bandit who had a smile on his face. "Good one mate." He said as he ruffled his sons hair. Levon smiled happy that his father was proud for what he did for his sister, his tail began wagging. "Okay, let's go see what Mum cooked for dinner." Bandit said as he went into the kitchen.
As the Heeler siblings and their father gathered at the dinner table, Chilli walked over and set down a baking dish on the table. "So I read a recipe I saw on my phone today and I thought I'd give it a try." In the baking tray was eight Capsicums each set of two that ranged from red, yellow, green, and white. The peppers were stuffed with meat, and rice with cheese covering the top. The Heelers were amazed at how delicious the Capsicums looked. "Wow babe, these look great." Bandit was the first to speak about his wife's cooking. "Yeah mum, they look so juicy" Levon commented. "Why thank you, you two." Chilli said with a smile on her face. "I don't understand, I thought Capsicums belonged in salads." Bingo said with her eyebrow cocked showing she was visibly confused. "Oh honey they do, but you can use them in other ways too." Chilli explained. "Oh okay." Bingo said understanding. "May I have a yellow capsicum please?" Bluey asked very excited to try the new dish her mum cooked. "Yes Bluey you may." Chilli replied very proud of her oldest daughter for using her manners as she passed her a Yellow stuffed capsicum. "Could you pass me a white capsicum please mum." Levon asked as Chilli passed him one. As dinner was getting ready to end, the Heelers talked about topics ranging from what was their favorite part of the day to the moments that were really funny like when Levon won in a debate with Judo over why pay for mud bath, when could do it for free in your backyard. Resulting in Chilli and Bandit laughing hard. After Dinner, Levon washed the plates and placed them in the dish washer while his sisters got their baths.
(I hope that story is going okay and is making sense. btw I found out Australians call Bell Peppers Capsicums. The more ya know. There will be more to come.)
