Chapter Two
Carla was looking forward to this day ever since Victor died. It's Día de Los Muertos.
Not only that, it was the one day where she wasn't on high security. However, the only thing she could do was visit her father's grave for about an hour, then she had to go back to work with Charles right behind her. Her hour was wasted trying to let Charles get her out of her cell, but he said he had to run it over with Elena.
Charles was the guard for Carla, and he didn't want her to run off, so he wasted her hour not letting her out. He felt a little bit sorry for her, but he wanted her to be with him this entire day. Just him, her, and the chores. He could maybe tell her that he liked her, wait a minute! Like her? She's a criminal! One of Avalor's enemies! I can't like her! Maybe it's not so bad. "Alright miss, let's get to work. The princess requests that you weed the garden, then prepare dinner, after that you take care of washing the dishes. Once you're done with that, you will help Mateo clean up his magic workshop space thing. Now when you are in there you will be under maximum security just in case you decide to use magic on us."
Carla glared at him, stuck out her tongue and said, "Fine. You do realize you wasted the only time I had to see my Papa's grave right?"
"Yep."
It was really late when she had finished everything except for Mateo's magic place. When she got to the painting, what seemed like a small army had come in. They were all guards. When they all got there, they opened it and half went in first, the other half followed her in. She picked up everything, but left the tamboritas there, assuming that the guards didn't want her to touch them. She was about to leave, but the guards blocked her way, "Hey! I'm done, let me out."
"Heh. No you're not. Look." one of them pointed at the tamboritas.
Carla went to pick them up. When she touched one, the guards grabbed her by the arms and dragged her to Elena, "Hey. What did I do?"
The guards stopped, one of the strongest came and punched her in the gut, "You were going to use that tamborita on us! We saw you pick it up!"
"Because you told me to!"
The guards continued to drag her to Elena, when they got there, she was then dragged to the council room, "How many times am I going to come in this stuffy room? If you ask me, I think that this is very unnecessary. Along with the many other times."
"Be quiet!"
Elena gathered everybody into the room again. Carla was sure that they would punish her without a doubt, their faces looked annoyed. Elena sat down slouched back, "What is it this time, Carla?"
"The guards wouldn't let me leave because there were tamboritas on the floor, but I didn't want to pick them up in case they got mad. But they forced me to pick them up. So when I just touched one, they yelled at me and took me here."
"You know what? I can't take this anymore! Just go! Leave Avalor, never come back. Guards, please escort her out." Elena said, almost yelling.
The guards took Carla outside and to a carriage. They were riding out of Avalor, but they had to go through the woods. The wood where Carla could see her hut one last time. She had to look away and wipe tears off her face. She thought about her and her father when she looked at that house.
