Shaggy's Spirit Thingy
Shaggy had just dived down the hole to save Scooby, he slid down a short slide and tumbled before landing on a sandy floor of a spooky underground tunnel.
He coughed a bit before he got on his knees and said, "Scoob?"
He stood up and looked back and forth and called out, "Scooby Doo, where are you?"
He hesitantly approached the edge of the cave wall as he said, "Scoob?"
He looked ahead to see a large chamber with a spooky looking cauldron above the entrance to a green cavern. The cauldron had some kind of white light coming from it and Shaggy could hear small voices coming from inside it. Shaggy stared at the cauldron in fear but courageously hurried toward it to investigate, briefly stopping to make sure no one was around. He walked up to the cauldron and stared down into it to see a slow-moving whirlpool of liquid with glowing balls inside it. He had no idea what it was as he stared into it with his mouth agape.
Suddenly he heard a familiar voice say, "Shaggy!"
He turned around to see Mary Jane standing behind him with a look of fear as she stared at him.
He took a few steps toward her as he said, "Mary Jane, what are you doing here? I told you to stay up there."
She looked at him with a worried expression as she shook her head and said, "You shouldn't be here."
He looked at her before glancing back at the cauldron while saying, "I have to find Scooby! And this spooky stew pot thing might be a clue to…"
She interrupted him as she nervously said, "No! You REALLY shouldn't be here!"
He walked up to her and was concerned as he asked, "What do you mean?"
Her expression immediately changed to hostility and she spoke with deep male voice and said, "You've seen too much!"
Before Shaggy could react she grabbed him by the throat and lifted him off the ground as Shaggy grabbed her arm.
He could not pry her grip as he said, "Crud!"
She stared him in the face and opened her mouth as she released a bunch of green gas into his face.
Shaggy showed a goofy smile as he said, "Like wow."
He got very dizzy as two men in strange costumes came at them from the sides. They took Shaggy from Mary Jane while she walked away. Shaggy was still dizzy as they dragged him by the arms and lifted him onto a platform with a column on the back and they restrained Shaggy's arms using some latches on metal arms of the column. Shaggy was just starting to come to his senses as he looked around frantically; he saw his arms restrained and tried to pull them free. It did not work as he fearfully looked at the two men standing beside him, then he looked and saw Mary Jane sitting in some kind of control area higher on the other side of the cauldron. She stared at him ominously while she started using the controls.
Shaggy only stared at her in fear as he said, "Scoob was right! Why are you doing this Mary Jane?"
She spoke with the same deep male voice and said, "You will soon find out."
She started operating a large robotic arm that had a claw on the end and she began moving it toward Shaggy.
Shaggy stared at it curiously and asked, "What is that thing?"
As it moved closer to him it shined a bright white light on him and Shaggy grew nervous as he said, "Like this can't be good."
The claw moved closer to Shaggy and reached INTO his chest while Shaggy frantically said, "What are you doing? Keep that thing away from me! Stop! Stop, stop, stop!"
A bright light shined from Shaggy's chest as the claw pulled back and Shaggy loudly screamed, "ZOINKS!"
His voice echoed throughout the cavern as the claw pulled back and extracted Shaggy's protoplasm, his spiritual head, his soul. Without his protoplasm his body stared forward in a shocked, terrified expression before it closed its eyes and just stood lifelessly with its head hung. Shaggy's protoplasm was being held in place by the claw as it held onto his "tail". Shaggy's glowing bluish white spirit head was bobbing up and down as he stared back at his lifeless.
He gaped in fear and gasped in shock before glancing at the two men at the sides and said, "Like Zoinks! What did you do to me?! I can't feel my legs!"
The claw was pulling Shaggy backwards, away from his body, and he stared into space dizzily and said, "I'm starting to feel a little lightheaded."
As the claw kept moving it Shaggy turned his head and watched Mary Jane operating the controls for the claw.
He tried to move his head toward her as he desperately said, "Like Mary Jane don't do this! Is this your way of breaking up with me? We didn't even have a date yet! I like really like you but this is too much!"
She just kept staring at him ominously as she lowered the claw down toward the cauldron as he said, "Come on Mary Jane. We can make this work. Just let me go and we can talk about this over some Scooby Snacks and…"
He was interrupted when the claw suddenly stopped, inches above the cauldron. Shaggy looked down and saw the vat of other protoplasms swirling beneath him. He gaped with a terrified expression as he realized that he was about to join them; he stared down with his eyes wide and his jaw dropped.
He quickly looked up at Mary Jane, who smiled evilly as Shaggy desperately pleaded, "No wait! Don't do it! We can work this out! Like-"
He was cut off when she made the claw dunk him under the water and release him.
His voice then bubbled, "Zoinks!"
Immediately after they were finished one of the creatures from last night climbed out of the cavern underneath the cauldron. It jumped out in front of Shaggy's lifeless body and chuckled evilly as it grabbed his chin and stared at his face, tilting the head up. It also opened Shaggy's mouth and held its right hand in front of Shaggy's face. It's arm began turning into a mist as it flowed into Shaggy's mouth, the rest of its arm followed and soon its face and head entered Shaggy's mouth as well. The rest of its body turned into mist and flowed into Shaggy's mouth while his body started move a bit as if it was alive again. The last of the missed entered Shaggy's mouth and then his mouth closed and his face stared forward with an evil demonic expression. With Shaggy's protoplasm gone the creature had now possessed his body as it glanced from side to side. The two men walked up and undid the latches on Shaggy's arms and the creature pulled its new arms free and hung them at its side.
The creature turned to the man at its right, then left, as it spoke with its real voice and said, "Montovock. Lipsnoko."
The creature held Shaggy's arms out and the two men helped the creature down and it turned to the side to see Mary Jane walking toward it. Her eyes briefly glowed green as she stared at him, her body was also possessed by another one of these creatures.
The creature in Mary Jane's body walked to the one in Shaggy's body and greeted, "Bonolook."
The creature in Shaggy's body replied, "Lodarmo."
The creature in Mary Jane's body spoke English with its deep voice and said, "The last protoplasm has been acquired and Mystery Inc is out of the way. All that remains is the pure one. We must get ready."
The creature in Shaggy's body nodded and said, "Zonolebik."
They both started walking out of the cavern and the two men in costumes followed them as they left the cauldron. Inside the cauldron, Shaggy, having just been dunked in started to sink down into the vat, passing hundreds of other protoplasms as he went deeper.
Shaggy stared down and looked at the protoplasms swirling around him as he said, "Like zoinks! This is totally freaky! Are we dead? Is this the bad place?!"
Suddenly he heard a familiar voice say, "Fortunately no."
He turned and looked up to see Velma's protoplasm looking at him as she flowed in the swirling current with all the others.
Shaggy was very happy as he shouted, "Velma!"
Despite having no body he managed to "swim" toward her and floated next to her as he said, "Velma, it's you!"
She looked back at him nervously and said, "Yeah it's me but I wish it wasn't you. I was really hoping they wouldn't catch you."
Shaggy was very frightened as he frantically said, "Mary Jane did this to me! She took out my soul thing and put me in here!"
They kept flowing in a circular motion as Velma explained, "I know. Those creatures that attacked us last night brought us down here, where they took our protoplasms and put us in this cauldron. Now those creatures are walking around inside our bodies."
Shaggy was shocked as he said, "What?! Like what do they want our bodies for?"
Velma was baffled as she nervously said, "I don't know, but without our bodies we're all trapped in this vat."
Shaggy stared forward sadly as he said, "Oh man! I should've listened to Scooby. He tried to warn me about Mary Jane but I didn't listen. Why would she do this?"
Velma stared at Shaggy and shook her head as she said, "It wasn't her Shaggy. They removed her protoplasm too."
Shaggy looked at her in shock and said, "They did?!"
Velma nodded and glanced around as she said, "Yeah. They put her in here with the rest of us. I saw her a little while ago but now she's somewhere in this endless vat of souls. There's no telling where she is."
Shaggy was very worried as he said, "Like what are they gonna do to us?"
Velma looked back at him with fear and said, "I don't know but it can't be good."
Just then Fred floated up next to Shaggy, he stared forward in fear as he babbled, "It's okay, you're gonna wake up! It's okay you're gonna wake up! It's okay you're gonna…"
Shaggy turned to him and exclaimed, "Fred!"
Fred cried in fear as he looked at Shaggy, then he calmed down and said, "Shaggy! They got you too?!"
The three of them flowed in the current as Shaggy nodded and said, "Yeah! Like totally freaky huh?"
Fred nodded as he said, "Yeah. What a crazy dream. But it's okay. We're all gonna wake up and then everything will be fine."
He looked ahead while Shaggy turned to Velma, who nervously shook her head and said, "That's what he keeps telling himself."
Suddenly they all heard a familiar voice say, "Guys!"
They looked up to see Daphne's protoplasm "swimming" down toward them; she stopped and was flowing in the current with them just above Fred.
Shaggy looked at her and shouted, "Daphne! You're in here too?!"
Daphne was annoyed as she whined, "Yes! That masked wrestler creep captured me, took the clue, brought me down here, and took my spirit thingy and put me in here! Now one of those monsters is walking around in my perfect body!"
Velma stared at her as she explained, "She got caught not long before you did Shaggy."
Fred looked up at her and said, "Yeah, I knew she'd get caught again."
She glared down at him and angrily said, "If I had arms I would hit you, but since I don't I'll just do this!"
She then childishly stuck her tongue out toward Fred, but he didn't care as he kept looking around nervously.
Shaggy looked at his friends with a nervous smile as he said, "Guys, I'm like really glad to see you right now but I'm also really scared right now."
Velma looked very worried as she nodded and said, "I agree Shaggy. With all four of us trapped in here I'm afraid to guess what will happen next."
Daphne shook her head with confidence as she smugly said, "I'm not afraid. I'm the one who's going to find a way out of here, and when I get my body back I'll be the one to come back here and set all of you free."
Fred was very afraid as he skeptically said, "Yeah right! Like that's gonna happen!"
Daphne angrily managed to jerk her body down and bounce him on the head, and she angrily said, "You can stay in here the longest! You all are the damsels in distress, not me."
Velma looked at her with fear as she argued, "Daphne, we're ALL the damsels in distress here! None of us can escape! There's no way out!"
Shaggy looked at her with wide eyes and fearfully asked, "Like no way out?!"
Velma sadly shook her head as she said, "No! I've done the math. The only way we can get out is if someone frees us from this cauldron. But everyone's bodies have been possessed by those creatures!"
Shaggy was terrified as he stared forward and said, "Like zoinks we're doomed!"
Daphne looked at him as she stubbornly said, "No we're not Shaggy. You'll see. Velma's wrong. I'll figure a way out of here and I'll be the hero to set everyone free."
Fred looked up at her and fearfully asked, "How are you gonna do that?! We can barely even swim in here!"
Realizing she had no idea what to do she nervously said, "I don't know! I'll… I'll get up to the surface and find a way up."
Velma was still afraid as she grew more impatient and said, "Daphne, I'm telling you, none of us can leave this cauldron! We're all trapped in here with no way out! I was hoping Shaggy would save us but now that he's here too the only one who can save us is Scooby!"
Realizing Velma was right Shaggy up the vat, past the swirling protoplasms, and saw the surface as he said, "Oh man! Scooby Doo, where are you!"
Meanwhile, outside the Cauldron, Scooby was all by himself as he entered the chamber. He managed to somehow escape the people who captured him and now he was trying to find his way out of this spooky place. He suddenly stopped and started sniffing the ground as he picked up a familiar scent.
He recognized the scent as he stared forward and said, "Raggy!"
He looked and saw the cauldron ahead of him and he stared at it nervously before slowly approaching it.
Author's note: That's the end of this oneshot fanfiction. After doing "Spirit Thingy" stories for all the other characters I decided to do one for Shaggy. The ending with Scooby was to show that this does NOT end with Scrappy winning. This is like that other body swap story I did where Scooby freed them from the cauldron instead of Shaggy. I also love doing the conversations between the gang while they're floating in the cauldron together. I came up with the idea of the creature in Mary Jane's body operating the claw after thinking about the movie. In the movie and deleted scene we see different people operating the claw, which suggests the same person doesn't always do it. I also thought having the creature in Mary Jane's body do it would make it creepier and in some ways funnier. Like it shows that Scooby was absolutely right and it makes it look like she's pure evil. I also thought it would fit to have her remove Shaggy's protoplasm, so that way he could sort of beg for her to spare him. But since it's a creature in her body that would never work.
