(Author's note: Modounbubble from tumblr asked for this and requested that I make Seath suffer. I went for the prompt Sunburn because it is very fitting for him and I hope I made him suffer a lot. Seath clearly isn't having a good time here ^^)
Seath was in so much pain.
Seath disliked that he was lacking scales for many reasons. He wasn't immortal like his brethren. He had downright been bullied out of the colony by them. He was able to get hurt without the use of lightning first.
And today, he had learned that even the literal sun, the element of his beloved Lord Gwyn, was out to get him.
His skin was burned. All of it. Instead of his usual slick white, it was a pinkish red. At least one of his channelers had described it to him, Seath actually didn't have a clue how colours were supposed to look thanks to his missing eyes. He knew, however, that a white colour having turned red wasn't a good sign. Why did he have to be so pale and vulnerable?
The injury he was suffering right now was a full body sunburn. He had stayed a bit longer in the sun yesterday than he had initially planned. He only wanted to go out briefly, but then Gwyn had shown up and Seath simply didn't want to miss spending time with his beloved Lord. However, Gwyn was able to tolerate the sun a lot longer than Seath.
Seath hadn't thought too much about it when he had come back into the archives and felt a little itch, only upon waking today did he notice just how bad of an idea it had been to stay out several hours while the unfiltered sunlight shone on his scaleless skin.
He would have to live with this pain until it healed. Of course he could ask Princess Gwynevere for her services, but she was miffed about him since some of her maidens had gone missing and had been tracked back to Seath. He wasn't able to ask the princess for any favours for a loooong while.
He just had to make this situation more bearable. He was a big dragon, so there was a lot of skin covering his flesh and bones. He could use his magic to turn into his human form, then it would probably hurt less.
Seath moved to his cupboard to get some clothes out (unlike dragons humans didn't cherish the nudist lifestyle, though it was understandable, with their genitals out in the open instead of safely tucked away), and then changed into his human form. The transformation hurt a lot more than normally, leaving him panting in exhaustion and pain once he was done.
Then Seath grabbed the clothes and put them on and instantly realized that this had been a bad idea.
The clothes scraped over his burned skin and multiplied his pain. He pretty much ripped the clothes away, wincing every time the cloth hit his exposed and burned skin. It was time to turn back into a dragon then. Damn the social expectations of the humans, it would be so much easier to live with this burn if he wasn't so huge, but even putting on mere underwear had hurt. Even more than the loose fitting dress he had chosen, because underwear was much closer to his skin.
Seath groaned in pain, lashing with his tail. Today would be a very difficult day… he probably should stay in his study and try to move as little as possible.
After Seath had been in his study for an hour or so, not really being able to concentrate much because of the pain, a voice that was music in his ears sounded and it was the first good thing that happened to him this morning.
"Daddy!", Priscilla said, "I am already done with my studies with the channelers! Can we go play outside later?"
Seath smiled at his daughter's voice, though right after the good thing of hearing it happened, a bad thing had to follow, because like usual, Priscilla would tackle him for a hug. Which would not be a problem any other given time, but today it was downright torture and Seath yelped as the little crossbreed was agitating his skin.
"Prilla, stop! You are hurting me.", he screeched. Priscilla let go of him right away and looked up. Probably with big worried eyes. Seath could sense shapes thanks to his magic, but his missing eyes still wouldn't allow him to make out details.
"Are you in pain, Daddy?", Priscilla asked, "Did I hurt you?"
Her voice wavered and felt almost broken, so Seath was quick to reassure her. "No, you didn't hurt me. I simply have a sunburn.", he said, "And so touching me hurts. Please don't touch me today, Prilla."
"Oh, that is why you look so red.", Priscilla said, "Can I help you somehow? I don't want you to be in pain…"
"I am afraid I have to wait until it heals.", Seath sighed, "Your well-being is more important to me anyway, Prilla. However, I can't go play with you outside today because of my injury. You will have to spend some time with the channelers."
"Hmmm.", Priscilla said, apparently having forgotten her earlier request, "Just wait for me, Daddy, I will make you feel better."
Priscilla was off then, leaving Seath a little confused. What should a little eight year old crossbreed that also couldn't wander Anor Londo without supervision do to alleviate his pain? Well, maybe she would cook something for him or something similar, like picking flowers and making a flower crown. Seath appreciated the sentiment nonetheless.
Priscilla returned a little later, but not with a flower crown. Instead, she had three channelers and a bucket of… something with her.
"Daddy! Daddy! I went to Dolin and they gave me something for your ouchie!", Priscilla practically beamed. Oh, of course, Seath was often tutoring Gwyndolin in the arts of moonlight sorcery, as the only child of Gwyn that was born under the protection of the moon, they had a good affinity for it and therefore they had met Priscilla. The both of them quickly made friends, because Priscilla was a crossbreed and Gwyndolin an outcast of their own family.
"What is it, Prilla?", Seath asked.
"An ointment.", Priscilla said, "We rub this on you and you'll feel better in nooo time!"
"An… an ointment?! Prilla, no!", Seath protested but it was already too late. Priscilla and the three channelers got to work, rubbing the ointment all over Seath's body, and it HURT. Seath tried to not whine or wince, but it was impossible. All the hands rubbing over his burned skin, all the ointment covering him, he could feel it far too much and in the end, he was a twitching mess that grunted in pain until he was completely smothered in the stuff.
"Is Daddy feeling all better now?", Priscilla asked and she sounded far too proud for Seath to be mad at her.
"Y-yes, I am sure I will be healed in no time…", he said, "Prilla, go play with the channelers. Daddy needs some… alone time."
"Alriiight.", Priscilla said, leaving with the channelers and Seath slowly managed to get up. Then, when nobody was around anymore, he screeched. Because that had hurt so much and he just needed an outlet for the pain.
Once he was done, Seath took a deep breath. He vowed to himself to never stay outside in the sun too long anymore. Nothing was worth this pain, not even time with Lord Gwyn. He really should get his research going and finally find the secret of immortality.
(Author's note: Phew, the busiest week for Sicktember is over. That was the only time I would post four fics right after the other and then three of them are literally Dark Souls fic!
Next fic will be posted on Saturday, but it will be original OC stuff which to my knowledge can't be posted here, so if you are interested, you have to visit me somewhere else.)
