The real story of Rothbart
Long time before Odette was born some things had occurred that make Rothbar become a villain, this is his real story.
Erin and Rothbart met each other when they were children at Erin's father castle. They were the best friends and were partners in crime due to Rothbart's father was the right hand of the Duque of Leincester who was Erin's father, in addition Erin and Rothbart spent all their free time together. Even when Erin was ill, Rothbart sneak in her room to see her and give her her favourite sweets.
Erin and Rothbart grew up and became teens, there was the first time that Rothbar knew that he was in love with Erin. Although they spent less time together due to their duties because Rothbart had to study a lot to be a magician and Erin had to study to inherit his father's lands. They always find the way to see each other. Rothbart had always the hope that one day Erin became his wife.
However, the prince visited the castle of the Duque of Leincester, the handsome prince William. William spent there a few weeks before he came back to the kingdom but everything changed when William met Erin. When they saw to each other eyes they realized they were in love. Nevertheless, Rothbart hadn't noticed that Erin and William had fallen in love, and William and him became good friends. Before came back to the kingdom, William asked Erin to marry him and she accepted without a doubt. The wedding was kept in secret because they were too young to marry and the Duque and the King decided that William and Erin met every summer until Erin has the marriage age however Erin was so excited and she told Rothbart about her and William.
- Oh Rothbart, you are my best friend and I known I can tell you whatever I need to- Said Erin with a huge smile.
- I known Rin, there are something you need to tell me?- asked Rothbart.
- As you probably had noticed William and I became good friends. - Rothbart had noticed that but he never saw something inappropriate between them - As you know, in a few summer I will have the age to marry the man I love- she continued- and William and I agree to marry each other as soon as posible.
Rothbart felt a huge weight in his shoulders, a hit in his head and a cold that sunk his bones. He smiled the best he could and congratulated Erin for that notice. After that, Rothbart spent a week in his room, thinking about the situation and trying to decide if he could stand saw Erin with other man or if he was ready to never saw her again.
He finally decided to spend the more time he could with his best friend. Days passed and one season brings another and Erin, Rothbart and William become an inseparable trio and Rothbart understood that the most important was to see Erin happy with her love William. Finally the wedding day arrived, and William asked Rothbart to be his council in the kingdom and continue developing his magic. Rothbart accepted because that was the best way to stay at Erin's side.
Life in the castle was calm, when William's father passed away he became king and Erin queen, but years passed and William and Erin didn't have a child. King Dmetri and Queen Huberta who married few months before had already have their first child, prince Derek, and this make them worry a lot about the future of their kingdom.
Erin asked Rothbart about a magic method for had a child but Rothbart can't help them with the problem. It wasn't until three years later that Erin became pregnant. All the kingdom celebrate the expecting of their monarchs but one day Erin start to felt bad, there was like her vitality and energy had lost but she never lost her loveliness and optimism.
William was afraid to lose his wife and the baby nevertheless he asked Rothbart again, a magic potion to kept both alive. Rothbart had never known about that kind of magic but he had heard about a dangerous magic, the forbidden arts, he heard that people could bring back to life death relatives and lovers but he had never been interested in that, he was afraid about that magic but he was more afraid with the possibility of loosing Erin, this way he started practiced that to saved her.
Then he realized that a live was paid with other live and they must choose between Erin and the baby to live or doing nothing and pray for both.
Rothbar and William were afraid to tell Erin the truth about magic because they know that she would choose the baby's live but they couldn't take the decision in her place so they finally told to Erin the options she had.
- I will never choose to survive to my child y will gave my live for him or her! The baby will live- she decided.
William and Rothbar were devastated because of that decision, they try to convinced Erin to choose her own live but she always refused. They only convinced her to wait until her would be very ill to made the magic spell.
Few weeks after that conversation the moment arrived, Erin was very tired and can't move from the bed. With a bitter flavour Rothbart started the spell. When he finished he waited a lifeless Erin but suprisingly Erin was better than ever, she recovered her pinky skin tone. Rothbart and William were afraid to misunderstood the spell and practice the wrong one but all their worries disappeared when Erin felt the baby moving in her bump. There was a miracle, Erin and the baby were both healthier than ever so last weeks of pregnancy passed calm.
Erin started in to labour, every thing went well but in the moment when the baby leave her mothers bump she started to felt sick, she lost her pinky skin tone and her voice was a whisper. Erin was dying.
- William, I feel so weak, I know I'm going to….
- Erin… - William interrupted, calmly and empatheticaly- look at our baby, she is gorgeous, what name would you like she had?
- Odette, her name will be Odette. - said Erin in very low voice- Please, let her marry with the man she choose, William. Let her marry the way we do, only for love.
- I promise, my love- said William with a tear in his face.
With her daughter in arms and her beloved husband hand next to her, Erin passed away.
Rothbart refuse to see Odette, he hate her, Erin's death was her fault and now that She was dead her friendship with William has no sense and now that Erin can't decide he would choose for her. After days in the secret chamber of his room he think a plan: he would continue studying the forbidden arts to take Erin back to live and the live he would take in payment would be Odette's live.
Odette's presentation happened two months after Erin's defeat and William force Rothbart to be there and see that girl. He saw how everybody give her presents and congratulated William for her birth but that made him felt sick. The young prince Derek gave her a golden necklace with a swan because Erin loved swans and Huberta knew that. Huberta who lost her husband a year ago, was planing marry Derek with Odette from the first moment she knew Odette was a girl. He lent them to celebrate their stupid party because Odette would die soon.
William worried for his friend Rothbart enter in his room to talk to him, finally both of them had lost their best friend Erin but Rothbart wasn't there. William would swear he saw him enter in his room so he started gossip in Rothbart's room and he discovered the secret chamber and his plan. How he wanted to rapt Odette and kill her to bring Erin back to live. Too disappointed with him, William ask to capture Rothbar and although everybody wanted his execution, William destroyed the forbidden arts and exiled Rothbart. He hoped that all those years of friendship made him thought about his plan and in a future he can come back and be Odette's godfather. After that William started the plan of make Derek and Odette fell in love but Rothbart kept his desire of revenge from Odette and spent years in get back the forbidden arts.
Seventeen years after his exile Rothbart has recovery all his power and intercept William's carriage in a path. He killed William who was trying to save her daughter. Finally his plan would be complete and Erin would back. He had waited for her but in the moment he saw Odette he understood he can't kill her. She looked like exactly as Erin, her blonde hair, her pinky skin tone, her voice, her brave, but she has William's violet eyes. He changed his plan in that moment, he would marry her because he couldn't stand that she could die giving birth as her mother this way she never would have children, and hers father's kingdom would be the final prize for him. His revenge would be complete, he take William's most loved possessions his daughter and his kingdom and made him broke the last promise he made to Erin, because Odette would never love him.
- I will never marry you, prince Derek will find me and we will marry- said Odette fearless and defiant.
- Great, princess, but I have other plan for you, I see you like swans, had you ever dreamt to be one of them?- said Rothbart after saw that heart-shaped necklace with a swan he had seen before.
- If you want to stop me, you will have to kill me- said Odette at the same time she pulled out her necklace and dropped it to the ground.
- No, I needn't. You will turn a swan by the day and human by the night!- said Rothbart.
A lightning touch Odette and paralyzed her. Rothbart take her as she were as light as air and start walking to the castle of the lake. Few minutes after, Odette heard her name in a shout, it was Derek. She hopes he had found the necklace in the ground. A message for him to look for her
