The next morning I had got up early to do some work around the Rv to put everything in it's place or find it one. I had a lot of organizing to do in the storage room. I went into the kitchen and got out bacon and eggs for breakfast. i cooked the bacon first before putting it on plates for each of us before cooking the eggs in the same pan to give them flavor. i scrabbled them just like the boys liked them. I then got out a pice of toast for each of us and popped it in the toaster. I was cleaning up the pan that I had cooked in while it was hot.
Ethan started to cry so I went and got him before waking the other boys up for the day. I was feeding Ethan when they came in to the kitchen dressed in the clothes that I had laid out for them to eat. I burped Ethan before putting the food down on the table for us to eat. I finished feeding Ethan before sitting him on my lap while I ate my breakfast. By the time I was done so were the boys and Ethan needed a diaper change and also needed to be dressed for the day. I also got dressed for the day before getting all the dirty laundry together for me to take to the lake to wash
Today was a hot day so the boys were going to swim while I washed clothes at the lake. I was loading up my backpack with everything i was going to need. I had packed water, apples, lunchables, and towels into the bag. I had packed the lunchables for lunch and the apples as a snack along with a bag of fruit snacks. I put Ethan in his sling and laundry soap in the basket on top of the dirty clothes. I grabbed the diaper bag packing 3 bottles into it before putting the backpack then it on. Matt was carrying the towels for us down for me.
I had put my bathing suit on under my clothes so I could swim later on after doing the clothes. I exited the Rv with Sam behind and Matt last he closed the Rv door behind him. Everyone else was already up and moving just like us getting ready to start the chores for the day. Some of the other women were heading down to lake to wash clothes like me. I think they washed clothes everyday which was crazy in my opinion. Down at the lake I picked out a spot where I could use the rocks to my advantage of scrubbing the clothes. I was putting the clothes into the water as Sam and Matt were taking off their shirts to go swim.
"Stay close to shore just in case. Don't wonder far and always be in my sight." I told the boys before they walked in the water.
I was washing clothes for about 30 minuets before I was finally done washing the clothes and blankets that I had. I laid out the clothes out on the rocks to dry. The other women had barley made a dent in their stack of clothes and I was done. I put Ethan's blanket from his diaper bag into the bottom of the laundry basket and laid Ethan who was asleep down in it.
I put the basket in the shade so he wouldn't get sun burned from sleeping in the sun. i took off my top and pants to revile a two piece blue swim suit. I got into the water with Matt and Sam making sure not to wonder far from the shore incase Ethan woke up. I was playing and swimming with the boys for about 2 hours before Ethan woke up crying. I got out as did the buys to eat lunch.
I gave each boy their lunchable and apple to eat while I fed Ethan. After feeding Ethan I started folding the clothes that were dry and put them in the bottom of the basket. I dried off and put my clothes back on over my now dry swim suit before getting my apple out of the bag. I had let the boys swim for another hour before making them get out and dry off. I packed up and headed back towards the Rv. I notice that Carl, Sophia and two other kids were wondering around all alone. I couldn't believe that the parents were stupid enough to let them wonder off alone. I smiled at them but led the boys mostly Sam back to the Rv.
I saw Shane was sending Glenn out again for more supplies today. I thought it was to late to go but apparently not. I waved at Glenn before opening my Rv door and letting Sam in first and then Matt. I hung up the clothes on the clothing line that I had hung up before the boys had woken up that day for the clothes to finish drying. I also got so fold chairs out from behind the couch and placed them under the awning of my Rv.
I also had a small camp fire built there. I got the boys a change of clothes for them to change into before changing Ethan and carrying out his bouncer out beside the chairs. I put him in it and he started playing and bouncing with a smile on his face. I grabbed a survival book and started reading it. Sam was taking a nap after spending the morning swimming he was tired so I made him lay down. Matt was also reading and taking notes from a survival book for school work.
He was in the Rv at the table working while I watched the camp and looked through my book. Ethan started whining after about an hour of playing in his seat. I picked him up just as Shane and Lori walked over to where I was picking up the bouncer and carrying it back into the Rv. Lori didn't look to happy about something. I knew that this was going to be tiring and stupid conversation like they all had been. I wasn't going to give up my supplies no matter what they said.
"We need to talk about supplies your keeping to yourself." Shane said with Lori backing him up looking proud of herself.
"There is nothing to talk about." I told him picking up the toys that were on the ground from Ethan playing.
"Yes there is you have supplies and your not sharing it." Lori said.
"I know because they are mine just like how you keep whatever you want from the runs Glenn goes on and don't share with the other women." I told her surprising Shane with that comment.
"O Shane you didn't know that Lori is hogging supplies for herself and not letting the other women have any shampoo, tampons, and condoms." I asked him.
"No I didn't but that not the point." Shane started but I stopped him.
"There is one thing you need to know Shane I'm not giving up my supplies no matter what you say or want so just leave it alone." I told him shutting the Rv door in his face.
I carried Ethan into my room with me to check on Sam who I found was now awake and coloring on his bed. I finished putting up the clothes in the boys drawls before moving on to mine and when i was done i went back to where Sam was. I smiled and sat down beside him with Ethan in my arms. I watched him color for a about 10 minutes before Ethan wanted his next bottle but it wasn't time so I gave him some apple juice. I watch tv while feeding Ethan the apple juice. Matt had joined me watching tv on the couch. He had grabbed a snack from the snack box before joining me.
I burped Ethan and laid him in the nook of my arm as he started to fall asleep. I was careful not to wake him when I moved over so Sam could join me and Matt on the couch to watch some NCIS together before dinner. I was happy that we had left overs from the night before since I was tired from swimming earlier that day. I could tell that all of us were tired from the days activities and exercise. I had Ethan asleep in my arms while Matt and Sam started working on their edible plants flashcards I had made to help them study.
I was watching the boys study together making a game out of studying with the flashcards. I was due to make dinner soon or warm it up since it was already made. Ethan had woken up and I had put him on his stomach on his tummy time blanket. I got up and opened the fridge getting out the left over soup from the night before and started warming it up. I made the boys put up the flashcards while I was dividing the last of the soup up into three bowls for us to eat. Sam got the least since he was smaller than Matt and me.
I cleaned up supper and went to check on Ethan to find Matt sitting in the floor playing with him. I went outside to check out the woods before bed like always or since the Group started making a lot noise during the day. I was walking the woods and came across a walker putting it down before it knew that I was there. I also notice that someone who I guessed was Daryl had hidden traps to catch animals. I came across 5 of them but only 2 had animals so I grabbed them and reset the traps like he had them. I was almost back at camp when I heard someone softly approaching from my right. I knew it was Daryl by how quiet he was in the woods. Even Merle was noisier then his brother.
"Here these are yours. Don't worry I reset the traps like you had them." I told him throwing the squirrels in his direction as I killed a second rabbit.
Daryl and I hunted the rest of the way getting only a few animals each I killed my third rabbit adding it to my bag. I had killed two more giving them to Daryl to feed the rest of the group since he was hunting for everyone because they couldn't do it themselves. I notice that everyone was gathered around a small camp fire talking to each other but stopped when I exited the woods with Daryl behind me. Shane got up and headed my way as I started cleaning my three rabbits that I had found in a burrow. I was putting the clean meat into a tupperware container when Shane reached me and Daryl.
"Where have you been you can't just wonder off like that." Shane told me loudly practically shouting at me.
"I was hunting for breakfast that's what. I don't need no babysitter so fuck off." i told him standing up adding my gut pile to the pile that Daryl was going to have to get rid of.
"You can't just wonder off alone without telling anyone." Shane told me grabbing my arm.
"Let me go and yes I can because I can take care of myself." I told him pulling my arm free of his grip.
"Thanks for the hunting Daryl and enjoy those squirrels." I told him heading towards the Rv where Matt was standing with Ethan in his arms and Sam standing behind him.
"Hey guys want to grab a snack and join Daryl and the group around the fire." I asked them getting a nod from them.
"Go get your shoes and jacket on." I told Sam taking Ethan from Matt.
I wrapped Ethan in a blanket to keep him warm before grabbing his diaper bag. I put the meat in the fridge before grabbing three boxes of noodles. Sam had put on his shoes and jacket and was ready to go he was exited to show off his new toys. I saw that Matt was hesitant but did as I said. He grabbed his bag checking it over before putting it on along with checking his gun. I did the same with mine before exiting the Rv. I followed Daryl over to the group to the bond fire. I tossed Carol the boxes of pasta getting a thank you from them as Carl started talking to Matt who looked to me and waited for me to nodded before going to talk to him.
"Carol here use this meat me and Daryl hunted along with two cans of peas and corn to make a soup for dinner." I told her walking over to help her get it together for the group to eat.
"Don't worry about me and the boys we already ate before I hunted for tomorrow's breakfast." I told her shifting Ethan in my arms.
"Sam don't get to close to the fire or it will burn you buddy come play with your toys by the log." I told him pointing to an opening for me and them to sit.
"Oktay momma." He said getting up and grabbing his toys and going over to the log.
I helped Carol make the group supper adding in the meat to the warm corn and peas, that I cooked separate to speed up the process. I notice Carol added the noodles to the big pot with the meat and veggies. I was setting up bowls for the food to be put into when I heard the yell of Sam and looked up. I found that Ed was standing over him yelling at him for some reason. I got up from where I was sitting preparing the food and rushed over there but was beat by Shane who yelled at him as Sam came running over to me with his toy in his hand almost in tears. I picked him up in my free arm with on hand surprising most the people with that move.
Matt rushed over to check over his brother comforting him with me. Matt said something making Sam laugh in my arms before he got down and joined Matt. Matt, Sam, Carl, and Louis were playing with some toys together having fun making most of us smile. I went back over and started handing out water bottles to everyone and collecting the empty ones putting them into a bag that was there to refill the next day. I was handing out the bowls of food with Carols help to everyone. i handed Daryl a bowl first since he hunted the meat before moving on to T-dog and Glenn since they scavenged the supplies, then came the kids and Amy, Carol handed out the rest of bowls of food.
I sat down on the log by the kids were playing but now had gone back to their parents while they ate. I opened my bag and grabbed both Sam and Matt their bag of chips passing them to them. Sam sat down beside me in-between me and Matt eating his chips. Ethan I put between my legs propping him up against them so he could sit up and still look around at what was going on. Everyone was talking and eating while I fed Ethan the other half of his apple juice from after supper earlier that day. I had just finished and burped him when Jaques asked me the typical questions you would to get to know somebody.
"So Ellen right." She started waiting for me to nod before she continued.
"What did you do before all this started." Jaques asked with a smile on her face.
" I taught at the Military academy. I taught the older students how to track both people and animals through the woods. I also worked at the local dinner on weekends for some extra money." I told her.
"So you must be navy then." asked Amy
"No I was a Marine for 10 years before having Matt which was when I was station at the military academy to teach. I have been teaching there for the past few years." I told her.
"So where you married." Amy asked a second question getting scolded by Andrea.
"Amy" Andrea scolded.
"No it's okay yes I was married for 15 years before he died about a year ago when during his last deployment he was also marine, I was pregnant with Ethan at the time." I told them smiling.
"Momma can i go color" Sam asked me pulling on my sleeve getting my attention.
"Matt will you take him and Ethan to the Rv." I asked him seeing Ethan was asleep.
"Sure mom do you just want me to put him in bed and bring you the baby monitor." Matt asked taking a sleeping Ethan from me along with the diaper bag.
"Yeah shut the door to all the way." I reminded him.
"Come on Sammy let's go." Matt called holding out his hand for Sam to take.
"Can I asked why you want him to shut the door all the way." Lori asked.
"I want him to shut it so if a walker gets in they can't get to him. The Rv is specially made it had steel doors so they are hard to break through." I told her
"Mom I'm going to stay and watch Sam and Ethan." Matt told me handing me the baby monitor before walking back over to the Rv.
"Okay you got you knife and gun." I asked him lowly so the rest of the group couldn't hear the only one that could was Daryl who was sitting beside us.
"Yeah" Matt said getting into the Rv and shutting the door.
"So what did you do before all this." I asked Glenn
"I was a pizza delivery man." Glenn said surprising everyone.
"Really you would have been what the military calls a distraction. they are the ones who are fast on their feet and cause a distraction when necessary. My unit had two a male and female" I told Glenn.
"I never heard of them." Shane said not believing me.
"Most units don't have them we did since we specialized in collecting data and important items we did so people refer to them as fast talkers." I told him rolling my eyes at him.
"I'm going to bed so believe what you want." I told them getting up.
I cleaned up the kids left over snacks mess before packing the empty tupperware that had fruit in it in to my bag. I headed towards the Rv and walked in shutting the door behind me. i found Sam coloring and playing with his toys on the table while Matt read one of his books on his bed with the door opened so he could listen for Sam and still watch Ethan at the same time. I smiled at this before making Matt take a shower then Sam followed. I put them to bed afterwards and then took my own shower and got Ethan's bottles ready for the night jut as he woke up crying for it. I finished locking up the Rv and turning everything off before grabbing Ethan.
I was tired so I fed him in my bed making sure to grab a diaper and the wipes putting them on my nightstand before getting into bed with them. I fed him half his bottle before stopping and burping him then giving him the rest. I grabbed one of my books off the nightstand and read to him for about 15 minuets before he need his diaper changed. After changing him I laid him down in his moses basket and covering it up. I put the moses basket down beside me on the floor and turned off my lamp and laying down on my stomach with my right hand laying down to touch Ethan's hand.
