I woke up the next morning in bed on my stomach to find Ethan holding my finger with his hand. I smiled and carefully pulled it out of his hand before sitting up and wiping my eyes. I laid there in bed for about a minuet before getting out of bed. I walked in to the living room kitchen area to notice that Matt was up digging through his school supplies and toy area looking for something. I frowned but let him continued anyway. I stepped around him and went and sat down on the couch and let him dig for another 5 minuets before he gave up and just started putting everything back like I had it. I could tell that he didn't find what he was looking for because he had a sad frown on his face as he was putting the books and toys back up. So I decided to try and see if I knew where what he was look for was at so I asked him.
"what were you looking for." I asked him helping put everything back neatly.
"My Harry Potter books" He said getting up sad that he couldn't find them.
"They are under your and Sam's bed in a box labeled Matt's books." I told him getting a huge hug before ran off to get them.
I started on breakfast which today was going to be easy 2 cans of pears and a can of oranges for us to split. I grabbed them setting them to the side along with three bottles of water. I started making Ethan a bottle for breakfast as I got a knock on the Rv door. I opened it to find Lori standing there looking at me with a frown on her face. Just great what did I do now I thought stepping out of the Rv still in my tee shirt and boxer shorts on. I had Ethan's bottle in on hand shanking it up for when he woke up for his breakfast which would be soon along with Sam and Matt who were also waiting on breakfast to. I shut the door to the Rv behind me and followed her over to the main camp where Carol was standing already dressed making breakfast for the whole camp.
"What do you want Lori I have three kids that still need to be woken up, Fed, and dressed for the day. Hell I haven't even gotten dressed for the day yet." I told her crossing my arms on chest aggravated.
"You have more then just your kids to take care of. Me, Carol, and Morales wife get up and help make breakfast and we have kids that have to be fed and dressed for the day. So that is no excuse." Lori said trying to hand me a spoon.
"Yeah but neither of y'all have three kids with two of them being under the age of 5 now do you. I need to go before Ethan wakes up and Shane yells at me for letting him make noise." i told her just as Matt exited the Rv still in his pJ carrying a screaming Ethan.
"thank you Matt I'm coming to get breakfast ready why don't you wake your brother up." I told him taking Ethan and giving him his bottle.
I walked Ethan back to the Rv with him in my arms feeding him. Now that Lori had dragged me away from the Rv I was behind my morning schedule so now the rest of the day was going to be off. I saw that Matt had helped out by getting Sam up and dressed for me along with himself. That helped some but with Ethan now up it would take half the day to get him to let me put him down to get dressed for the day and I be damed if I would be walking around in boxers the whole day to I could get rude and sexual comments from the men because of it. After feeding Ethan and getting him changed and dressed for the day I passed him off to Matt so I could get dressed.
I got dressed in shorts and put a bra under my night shirt so you couldn't see my nipples through my shirt before I heard Sam start complaining for breakfast. I quickly put my hair up in a ponytail before putting on my weapons and diaper bag on. I had put my boots on before leaving the Rv earlier. I put the three canned goods into my bag along with a few snacks and water for the day. I was going to try and be the good housewife like Lori wanted. I put shoes on Sam and started packing up his bag with coloring supplies, toys, and School work for him do with the other kids later. I got Matt's bag together too adding his book. school work, hunting knife, and a couple of comic books. I then had Matt get his shoes on while I put Ethan in his sling for the day. I exited the Rv two hours later with all three boys and me dressed and ready for the day.
I walked over to the center of camp where Carol, Jaques, Lori and Morales wife were severing up breakfast. I handed them the three canned fruits getting a nod from Shane granting up permission to get food. I rolled my eyes making Morales wife and Jaques smirk when Shane wasn't looking. I gave Matt and Sam a bowl directing them over to picnic table to eat. I went back for one myself but they were all gone Ed had apparently went back for seconds which left me with out food all together. I smiled when I saw that there was only enough for Carol to have bowl and told her i already ate that I was fine. lying through my teeth to her getting frown from Matt at this.
I got Sam's coloring book out for him and Matt's book for them to use while I helped with the dishes. I was drying them off since I still had Ethan strapped to my chest. I was helping stack the dishes when Ethan started crying for his next bottle so I handed the stack of dishes off to Lori getting up to get Ethan's bottle to feed him. I sat down next to Sam watching him color while I fed Ethan. I then had to changed Ethan and throw away the diaper and dirty wipes before washing my hands. I went back to help but by then they were done with them and had moved on to tidying up around the camp. I went over and watch the kids. Louise had joined Sam in coloring while Matt watched them closely looking every few minuets for danger before going back to his comic book. Where Carl didn't even look up once.
"Okay kids school work time." Lori called while Carol got the books and paper for them to work on.
"Lori Matt is on a higher level then Carl and he learns different things then him." I told her taking Matt's books out of his bag and handing him them.
"Sam buddy it's time for school let me get your cards to study and when Matt is done with his work you two will play your plants and animal game with the flash cards." I told him putting his work book in front of him.
"Okay momma" He said cleaning up his coloring supplies shocking the women with how easy it was for me.
"Matt I'm going to take you and Sam plant hunting later so study up on you plants with Sam after your done." I told him getting an okay and a frown from him.
"Can i ask what you teaching your boys." Carol asked.
"Well they already know how to read and write so they read, study and learn about editable plants, berries, and roots you can eat in the wild and how to find them. They also learn animal tracks base on pictures. Then Matt is starting to learn about herbal plants he could use on cuts and scrapes using plants around him." I told them showing them what they were learning.
"Wow that's a lot for them isn't it." Lori asked.
"It's no different then giving them English, Math, Science, and History to work on." i told her.
I burped Ethan again since he was whining from air in his stomach. I then put him in the crook of my arm while I looked over Sam's shoulder checking his work. I watch him answer some problems getting an Idea on what he was having trouble with. I walked over to the other side of table where Matt was doing his school work. I stood there watching him do his problems and figure out the answer to the trick questions. Ethan was starting to doze in my arm and shifted him trying not to wake him up. I was helping Sam with a Math problem that he was having trouble on. Matt was better at Math and tracking while Sam was better at identifying animal tracks and editable plants in the woods. I had to make Sam redo this problem three times before he got it right and figured out what he did wrong.
After Math was animal track and edible plants flashcards were next for Sam to work on. I had drawn and a picture of each type of animal track from bird, deer, hog, pig, cow, goat, sheep, rabbit, raccoon, possum, hedgehog, squirrel and so on. The same was said for the editable plants and berries there was a drawing of them and picture of the berry and bush that they grew on. I also had information like how they smell, taste, look, how to use them weather for eating, cooking, or medical herbs. He worked on that while I put up his English and Math books along with Matt's books since he had finish his school work. He was he first one done with school work so he was reading on his Harry Potter book.
I went over to where Ethan's moses basket was in the Rv and grabbed it along with a couple of his toys. I walked back over to the table with the kids and set down the moses basket and laid Ethan in it making sure not to wake him up. I put the toys in a small pile beside the basket for when he woke up and was time for him to play. Sam was finishing up on his editable plants flashcards first. He like them better then the other ones he was better at them while Matt was better at the animal prints then edible plants and berries. I shuffled both decks really good before sitting down and showing her them as a test.
I went through both sets of flashcards with him one last time before putting them up with the other school supplies. Matt took the bag of school books back to the Rv putting them where they went. I helped Sam down from the seat letting him go back to the Rv to watch Tv or play with his toys for a bit. Matt had also taken Ethan's moses basket back with him since now he was awake and sitting in his sling starring around at everything and everyone. I was now helping the women make beans for lunch. We opened 3 corn, 3 peas, and 2 baked beans dumping them into a pot for them to warm up. I was making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to go with it. I was half way done when I heard Sam calling for so i finished the sandwich I was working on before getting up to go see what he wanted or needed.
"Momma Momma Momma" I heard Sam calling for me.
"What is it Sam." I asked him
"Will you turn on Supernatural for me and Matt to watch." Sam asked me with puppy dog eyes.
"Sure bud why don't you go pop some popcorn to go with you tv show." I told him searching the cabinet for the right supernatural season.
I put in Supernatural season 1 in the dvd player and started it. I decided to watch tv with boys after getting lunch. I grabbed four bags of plain chips from the pantry and opened one dumping some in to bowls for me, Sam and Matt to eat. i then dumped some extra into two other bowls for us to snack on while watching our tv show. I carried out the rest of the three and half bags of chips out to Lori who was looking unhappy that i had walked off when Sam had called for me. I handed her the chips before grabbing four sandwiches with grape jelly and put them in my bag so that I could grab the cups of beans. I grabbed each of us one. I carried the food back to the Rv where the boys had paused the first episode and were waiting on me.
I gave Sam his sandwich, chips, cup of beans, and small can soda for lunch. Me and Matt each got a sandwich and a half, chips, cup of beans, and soda. I shut the Rv door locking it before sitting down on the end of the couch to eat. I was able to get my sandwich ate and some of my beans when Ethan started crying from his moses basket. I got up and grabbed him before getting his bottle on they way back to the couch. I saw that we were now on the second episode and Sam was still watching and loving it. I was happy that he was liking the show as much as me and Matt did. I sat down back in my spot with Ethan feeding him. I burped him and changed his diaper while I was up putting the dishes and garbage up. We were now on the third episode while I put Ethan down in his bouncer with toys to play with so that he could get some play time in.
I watch another episode with the boys snacking on popcorn and drinking our canned soda. I looked down to check on Ethan to find him asleep in his bouncer so I left him there for now. I got up and looked seeing that we only had about 2 hours until dinner time now. I made 3 bottles and put them in the fridge leaving on out to feed Ethan with when he woke up. I picked Ethan up out of the bouncer putting him in the crook of my arm letting him sleep some more as I put his bottle in his diaper bag for later. I left the boys in Rv taking the clean dishes with me over to the main camp where Lori was pist that I had disappeared all afternoon. I just ignored her and started on 2 bags of lima beans, 2 cans of corn, and 3 bags of rice into one pot and started cooking it.
Daryl brought some meat over to me later on that I cooked separate over the fire before adding it in to the rice and beans. I added some of my salt, pepper, and chili powder to the bowl when no one was paying attention to me and quickly put the spices back in my bag before anyone saw them. I stirred the bowl while it finished cooking. I was still holding a sleeping Ethan in the crook of my right arm while he slept. I shifted him so he was laying on my chest with my hand securing him against my right side of my chest. I saw that Andrea, Amy, Morales wife, and Carol were all separating and folding everyones dried laundry into piles base on the person. Lori on the other hand was sitting down doing nothing at all while watching the other women do all the work.
"Lori why don't you go find the kids and let them know supper is almost done." I told her with a smirk on my face knowing that she couldn't refuse the task with some many others around listening.
"Yeah and tell Sophia to get her book so we can read after supper," Carol added not getting the point yet.
"Hey Amy why don't you come take over for me while I go get Ethan a bottle and the boys before he wakes up." i asked her know she would do anything to get out of laundry duty.
"Sure, I can help clean up after supper to if you want or watch the kids." She offered sweetly.
I nodded at her and headed towards the Rv. The boys were inside watching more tv when I entered. "Time to eat guys come on." I told them.
I waited on them to put their shoes and jackets on since I was getting colder outside with the sun setting. I switched Ethan's bottle out with a cold one from the fridge putting the warm on in the fridge. I also grabbed Ethan's blue and grey elephant baby blanket from off the couch to wrap him in so he wouldn't catch a cold after the sun went down. I grabbed my leather biker jacket off the hook. I had made it to look like the one Clarke wears in the 100 season 5 I think when she is left on Earth alone. I loved that jacket more than anything. I walked over to the group with Sam and Matt following close behind me and I made sure that they were close by when I sat down with Ethan who was now waking up and fussing for his bottle.
I fed Ethan his bottle while everyone else ate. I burped him and got up walking over to the table to change him and threw his diaper into the burn pile know that all it would do was get rid of it. I wrapped Ethan up in his blanket to keep him warm and finally got to eat my cold rice and beans. I ate as best as I could one handed while holding Ethan. Everyone else was talking about what we were going to due the next day. I knew that we were running really low on food but Shane like to keep that under wraps so people wouldn't panic about not having enough. I thought that we weren't rationing as much as we should be or the rest of the group wasn't I made sure that the boys got the correct rations each meal because I made their plates to checked them over before handing them to him. I spoke up during a quiet spot.
"Shane when are we going to on a run for more food. I notice today that we are running a little low on rice, beans, fruit, and cereal." I told him naming off what we had ran out of and he caught on that by the look in eyes.
"Tomorrow Glenn is going into Atlanta for supplies he will be getting mostly food then." Shane said trying to not make everyone panic.
"Glenn I could use some more baby formula, diapers, and wipes." I told him as he jotted down the items to his list.
"Glenn I could also use more school books for the kids." Carol told him getting a look from Ed.
"You should focus on getting rice, pasta, beans, fruit, and package and canned foods that would last longer then other foods." I told him as I got up with Ethan in my arms.
"Good night guys I'm going to turn in with the boys." I told the group walking back over to the Rv with both boys in tow behind me at all times.
I got the boys ready for bed by giving them both a shower and change of clothes. After they were both clean and changed into Pjs I let them start another episode of supernatural while me and Ethan took a shower and got changed into night clothes. I got Ethan a bottle, his blanket, and both the boys a pack of fruit snacks and a juice box. I fed Ethan his bottle and was rocking him to sleep when I got a knock on the Rv door. I got up with Ethan wrapped up in his blanket in my arms half asleep. I opened the door with one hand to find Carol standing there with our clean laundry folded in a basket. I motion her to come on in since I couldn't take it from with Ethan in my arms.
I had her follow me into bunkbed room. "You can put them on the bed." I told her.
"Wow this is a nice set up you have." Carol said noticing all the clothes and supplies I had.
"Yeah and I would appreciate if you didn't say anything to Shane, Lori, or anyone else for that matter. I worked two part time jobs on top of a full time job at the Military Academy to pay for all this camping gear and I don't want Shane to take if from me. Some of it was my husband's before he died. Anyway just please don't tell them I have all this there is a reason that I keep my supplies in the back room away from the prying eye." I told her as she walked back to the front door.
"Carol here. For the kids" I told her handing her four packs of fruit snacks one for each kid.
She thanked me and left. I could tell that she wouldn't tell anyone about my supplies because she knew what it felt like to have some one take everything you owned and worked so hard for away from you. I laid Ethan who was now asleep into his moses basket. I moved the moses basket to the bunk he slept on usually which had baby supplies laid all over it. I put the clothes away in the correct drawls before turning out the over head light just leaving on my bedside lamp. I shut the door behind me on the way back to the couch. I stopped in the kitchen to pick up the left out snacks and trash that was left on the counter.
I put the snack box away and threw away all the trash that had collected on the counter. I also put all the empty water bottles into the bin I used to hold them until I filled them back up. I washed out Ethan's dirty bottles before drying them out and made Ethan 5 bottles and put them in the fridge. I then wiped down the counter top. I saw that it was getting late so I made the boys head to bed. I tucked the boys in and read them a couple chapters of the Harry Potter until they were falling asleep. I then got back up and kept watch for a bit, while I started to planed on where would be a good next place to go.
I knew we couldn't stay here forever it was to exposed and open. If someone or walkers attacked we would be to out in the open with no where solid to protect. Plus with people sleeping in tents was fine for summer and fall but winter would be to cold for them even with extra covers and warmer clothes. I was writing down things that we would need more of before winter like food, water, soap, formula for Ethan, diapers, wipes, clothes for Ethan, shoes, gas, ammo for guns and even guns. Shane was to busy living day to day and wasn't thinking to far ahead and that was going to get people killed.
It was now after 9:00 so i got up and locked up the Rv before turning everything off and headed to bed. I checked on the boys first having to cover both Sam and Ethan since they had came uncover before going to bed myself.
