I got up and got dressed the next morning before laying out clothes for the boys when they got up. I went to the kitchen and started a chili with the last rabbit meat we had in the fridge for lunch and dinner. I started with an onion, and green pepper wanting to use them before they went bad. I also added a pack of hamburger meat along with the rabbit meat that I had. Use some of tomato paste, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, and a little bit of sugar not much but some. I let all that cook together while I opened 4 cans of kidney beans, 2 cans of corn, and 1 can of diced tomatoes to the mostly cooked meat in the pot. This chili would feed us for a fews days at least week if we only ate it once every day.
I grabbed the 4 eggs out of the fridge along with 3 strips of bacon from the fridge. I cooked the bacon first in on pan and then cooked the eggs in the same pan along with some salt and pepper. I was plating the eggs and bacon on to three plates for the boys. They were coming out of there rooms now dressed for the day and sat down at the table. I joined them eating my food with with for the first time in a long time. I was able to finish eating before Ethan woke up crying for his breakfast. I went and picked him up feeding him his bottle. After feeding him his bottle I changed him in to his day clothes and changed his diaper. I went and put the dirty clothes into the dirty clothes basket that was in the conner of the room.
I washed the dishes, dried them, and then put them up in the cabinet where they went. I got the boys school books out or at least the Math ones. Today I was going to go hunting while they did school work. I sat down with Notebooks for Sam and Matt. Matt was easy do problems for. I looked through the math textbook and found 4 pages of problems that I wanted him to complete. I wrote down what I wanted him to do in the blank page of the notebook. I then went to the English textbook and found 2 pages where you picked the right part of speech out, 3 pages where you had to rewrite the sentence with the correct verb noun agreement. In total he would have 100 math problems and 150 english problems to complete. I knew that this was a good bit of work but I wanted him to be busy for a few hours so I had time to hunt.
Sam on the other hand I had traced out each letter of the alphabet upper case and lower 3 times each. I was also making him write the number 1-50 on a page in order 2 twice. I also wanted him to pick out a the nouns in the sentences on 2 pages in a english textbook. He would have 50 problems there to do along with 50 Math addition problems. I wanted to keep him busy but not over whelm him. I wrote out directions on a page in each of the boys notebooks so that they would know what to with having to be told over and over again. I even made sure to include the name of the textbooks so that Lori and Carol who were watching them would know who got what text book. I would leave them with Lori and Carol to watch them while they are doing their school work. I loaded up the book bag with the write text books for the boys school work.
I started packing my military bag for my hunting trip. I put a change of clothes, 3 days worth of food and water, medical supplies, several tupperware containers to put the meat in after cleaning it, extra gun ammo, extra hunting knife, and extra handgun. I also packed Ethan's 2 blankets, diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, water, and clothes for him to last him 3 days as well incase we got stuck out there. I zipped up the bag and took it to the living room with me. I added my sleeping bag and tent to the bottom of the bag. I strapped my handgun to my waist, put a throwing knife in each of my boots sole. I strapped another to my right thigh, I also put on my hunting jacket. I put on Ethan's sling and then my bow and arrows on over it so it was easy to get to. I with the help of Matt put Ethan in his sling on my chest. I handed Matt his handgun and hunting knife that he strapped to his waist with the key to the Rv.
I turned off the cooked chili and put it back in the fridge for another day. I put shoes and socks on Sam's feet while Matt put his on. I walked the children over to where the others were already eating but since we already had I went over the flashcards about animal tracks with both boys. I notice that Matt was distracted by something so I followed his stares and found him watching Carol's husband Ed and how he interacted with his daughter Sophia. I watched with him as Ed yelled at Sophia making her jump back in fear as he raised his voice at her. I notice Carol was busy so I walked over to her and tapped her arm before motioning over to Ed and her daughter were at. She took off running when she saw what was going on.
"Carol I'm going to go hunting today can you watch the boys while they do their school work. I have wrote in their notebook what they need to do and what page to find it on." I told her showing the notebook instructions.
"Sure let me grab Sophia and Carl and after they eat we can start on the days school work." Carol said taking Sam by the hand and leading him over to the table.
I followed and handed Sam his backpack that had his coloring books and school stuff in it. Sam grabbed his coloring book and crayons taking them out to color with until it was time to do school work. Matt followed over to the table taking his Harry Potter book out of his bag and started reading some of it. I smiled and went over to help the group with breakfast. I saw that we were eating oatmeal. I had told Carol that the boys already ate this morning and not to worry about lunch that they would eat what ever they did. I walked over to where the boys were sitting minding their own business coloring and reading.
"Matt, Sam momma is going hunting for more food today. In your bags are your notebooks with instructions on what to do for school work today. You have your textbooks in your bag just follow the instructions on the page. Carol will watch you while you do you school work once you done all of it you can watch Tv in the Rv together until I get back. You know the rules of being in the Rv Matt your in charge watch your brother. I love you both be good." I told them kissing them on the head before leaving them.
I went to the woods taking my bow off my back and loading an arrow in to it. I hunted for 3 hours finding a total of 5 rabbits. I ran into Daryl who was also hunting and we hunted quietly together for another 1 hour with him killing 3 squirrels and traded him the 3 squirrels for his 2 rabbits. So I now had 7 rabbits with me and I headed back to camp with them. I stopped halfway back to camp and cleaned three of rabbits putting the meat in the tupperware container. I put the meat back in my bag. I had to stopped and feed Ethan and change him during this process. I moved since walkers would be attracted to the smell of the blood and guts. I stopped at a second random spot and cleaned the rest of my rabbits.
I put them in containers and in my bag as well before changing my shirt which had blood on it and returning to camp. I went straight for my Rv to put the rabbit meat up before it went bad. I took the chili out and put it back on the stove on low to warm up. I took a shower and washed the blood out of my shirt while I was in there. I hung it up over the top of the shower to dry out. I got dressed and checked on Ethan who was asleep on his bunk before going to see the boys who were still doing school work. Sam was on his last few math problems but had yet to start on his numbers as well as half of his english wasn't done.
"Sam finish up what you are working on and you can do the rest tomorrow buddy you did good. Go grab a snack when your done in the Rv and watch some tv. I put in your Spongebob DvD all you have to do is press play." I told him kissing him on the head.
"Matt you do the same thing. I know you will take longer since you were given more then he was. Once your finish check on your brother he is asleep in his basket on the bed and bottles are in the fridge. I'm going to wash some clothes." I told him kissing him on the head to.
I took the small basket of dirty clothes down to the lake to wash them with the other women. All the women but Carol were down at the lake washing clothes. Carol was watching the kids. I started on the clothes away from the other women first but over time the space between us had gotten smaller and smaller. I was washing clothes when Sam came running down to the lake calling for me.
"Momma Momma Momma. Shane is mad and is trying to get in the Rv. He woke Ethan up and Matt can't get him to quiet down." He cried making me get up as fast as I could. Carol took over washing my clothes for me since I only had like three outfits left to wash.
I walked up the hill with a basket of wet clothes with Sam by my side. I could hear Ethan crying or screaming from where we were across camp. I start to run towards the sound of Shane yelling at Matt who was standing in the Rv trying to calm down a unhappy Ethan. I notice that Matt was holding Ethan the way he hated and Matt knew that so he was trying to get me back to the Rv for a reason. I rushed over to Matt pushing Shane out of way taking Ethan from him as Sam slid back into the Rv and went back to watching tv. Shane hadn't notice that he was missing. I was able to quiet him down after a few minuets. I had to feed him half a bottle to get him to quiet down. Shane had stormed off when I arrived to do what ever hid did during the day.
I stirred the chili on the stove so it wouldn't burn and started some water for tea. We hadn't had any in a while so some with supper would be a treat. I checked on Ethan who was still sound asleep and Sam was watching Spongebob on the couch. Matt was working on some more of his school work since I had gone through and marked the ones that were wrong he was now reworking the problem to see if he could find where he went wrong. I smiled because he knew that we would go over that tomorrow before working on some more problems but he wanted to do them anyway. I patted him on the back making him stop and look up at me from where he was sitting.
"Matt I'm going to go hang our wet clothes up to dry and see what Glenn got from the run he went on Today. Will you listen for your brother he is still asleep for now." I told him before asking him getting a nod from him.
I went outside and started hanging up the wet clothes to dry on our laundry line that I had hung up between the awning of the Rv and a nearby tree. I was finishing up when I notice that Glenn had started unloading the car that he took to the city that day. I hung up the last shirt as I heard Ethan start crying and Matt get up to go get him. Matt walked out of the Rv about a minuet later with Ethan in his arms with a bottle in the other. I smiled at him as I took them from him giving Ethan his bottle. i walked over to where Glenn was unloading boxes of supplies from the Car. I burped Ethan and put him in his sling and his bottle went in my back pocket so that I could help him. No one else seemed to care that he was doing all the work.
"Hey Glenn did you get what I asked for." I asked him softly so that no one would hear.
"Yeah four boxes of rice, dried beans, pasta, mac and cheese, and flavor packets of all kinds. I was also able to get you 5 canisters of formula and 3 boxes of diapers. There weren't any wipes though."
"Wow that's more then I thought you would get. Thanks lets go ahead and get that in the Rv before Shane gets back from doing Lori in the woods." I told him taking a box of flavor packets and putting it on my hip.
My comment made Glenn blush and start coughing at it. I walked my box of flavor packets over to the Rv and open the door I put the box on the ground pushing it across the floor before getting in it myself. I handed Ethan off to Matt who came over to take him when he saw I was getting supplies into the Rv. I thanked him before jogging back over to the car and grabbing two more boxes. I carried them over to the door of the Rv and pushed them across the floor like I did the first. Matt had passed Ethan off to Sam who was still watching Tv on couch with Ethan in his lap. Matt was moving the boxes across the floor to the closet area and stacking them on top of each other to give us room to move around.
Glenn brought over the last two boxes over and sat them down on the Rv floor for us to handle. Shane choose that time to come out of the woods and see us doing this. I didn't want him to know that Glenn was going behind his back and giving me supplies that I asked for. I didn't want Glenn to get in trouble with him for this so. I motion for Matt to hide the boxes under the bed so that he wouldn't see them. I left out the box of formula and box of diapers so that when Shane got there and opened the boxes all that was there was baby supplies and that was it. Shane was now approaching us angrily and Glenn looked to be freaking out. I grabbed his shoulder to settle him down.
"Let me do the talking and everything is going to be fine." I told him just as Shane started to yell at us.
"What the hell is going on over here you can't be giving supplies that is the group's to her." Shane yelled at Glenn causing Sam and Ethan to whimper and Matt to go comfort them.
"He's not it just baby supplies. No a single box or can of food in theses two boxes look." I told him opening the boxes so he could see all that was there was formula and diapers.
"Your suppose to run all supplies by me before giving them out." Shane said to Glenn.
" didn't see the point since she is the only one with a baby besides formula isn't heathy for adults or older kids. I'm I'm i"m" Glenn stammered to him. but I stopped him.
"No Glenn don't do that you did nothing wrong this supplies is mine. It's Shane who should apologize he is the one who jump to conclusions and over reacted." I told Glenn stopping him from apologizing to Shane.
"Go do innovatory of the supplies Glenn got and let me know when I can pick up me and my kids portion of the rice and beans." I told Shane.
"I want to make a rice and bean soup so I'm going to need two bags of dried beans and a bag of rice. I want to make a meal with just me and the boys tonight so can I have them." I asked Shane who looked shock to find me asking for supplies.
"Sure get from Carol but wait until tomorrow and you can have your pick of rice and beans." Shane told me walking off with Glenn close behind him giving me a thumbs up behind his back.
I walked back into the trailer and got the first box organizing the flavor packets by kind and flavor. I was able to fit some bags of dried beans in the box with them. I organized the supplies in each box so that it was easy to find what I wanted. I put some boxes of the mac and cheese into the cabinet along with some flavor packets of each kind. I found that Glenn had even added some canned fruit and oatmeal in the bottom of the box. I smiled and put it in the correct supply box. I had some boxes for each thing i had the beans, rice, flavor or spices, breakfast foods, and canned goods. I stored most the boxes under the bunkbeds but had them labeled with a marker for easy reading.
I put the boxes back under the bed along with the new ones. I smile when I saw that Sam was laying down asleep on the couch with Ethan between him and the couch also asleep. I also saw that Matt had changed the Tv to NCIS he was on season three when Ziva showed up. I grabbed a small bag of chips from the snack bin and joined him on the floor watching it after stirring the pot of chili and adding some more garlic powder that Glenn had found today on the run. I added it to the chili giving it a taste to make sure that it tasted good. I had a great Idea I had enough chili here to feed the whole camp for a night if I added a few more cans of beans and some water. but I mostly wouldn't get anything out of it so I would leave it like it was and feed my family.
I watched Tv with Matt for about an hour before Sam woke up and watched with us. I had to get Ethan so he wouldn't roll off the couch. I watched another episode before I saw it was getting late so I got up and started toasting some butter bread on the stove top. I tested the chili to find it look warm so I turned it up so it got hotter for us to eat. I added some warm water to the chili to loosen it up a bit. I cooked me and Matt two pieces of toast each and Sam one. I tested the chili a second time finding it just right so I grabbed some shredded cheese and put a handful into each of three bowls before adding in half a bowl of chili. I moved the hot bowls to the table with a napkin under each bowl. I grabbed a packet of crackers for us to share. Tonight we weren't rationing we were just eating to get full.
We ate dinner and had a nice relaxing evening. I fed Ethan and changed him. We watched Tv together finding a few movies like Vertical Limit and Point Break. I had put Ethan to bed after the first movie and Sam followed not long after. I tucked Sam in reading him a story out of his story book. I then went and made Ethan 3 bottles for the night I already had two in the fridge so that made 5 and that would last us through the night with an extra one just incase I needed it. If not it would be breakfast like always. I walked back into the living room making sure everything was locked up tight and put away for the night. I stopped beside Matt who was awake on the couch still watching Tv.
"Matt honey i'm going to bed I have locked up and put everything away all you have to do is turn off the lights and Tv when you come to bed." I told him kidding him on the head.
"Okay mom turn off the lights, turn off the tv, and shut the door to the bedroom before going to bed." Matt told me getting a nod from me.
