A tranquil wind flowed through the Mushroom Kingdom one peaceful summer afternoon, the sky was clear and all was at peace in the world. While the world relaxed in harmony, the sound of humming filled the halls of Peach's Castle as Mario and his friend Meggy Spletzer worked on setting up party decorations in preparation for a special event.
"So, how's it-a going over there?" Mario asked.
"Phenomenal." The former Inkling replied as she inspected a balloon, "Everything is splendid. How's your end coming along, Red?"
Mario flashed her a thumbs-up in response and held an Inkling balloon in his hand, then he went back to work and started humming the overworld theme again while Meggy finished setting up a couple multi-colored banners with Inkling logos on them. A large banner with the words 'Happy Splatoon Day' dangled above the upper floor Star Door with multi-colored banners attached to it.
A DJ's booth was prepared near Meggy's position, looking perfect, and a parlor was set up on the right wing almost close to where Mario was working. They had been very busy with setting things up, especially if they were about to have a party.
Half-exhausted, Meggy stepped away from her work to examine how everything was going, mostly regarding the party decorations and the set up.
"Lookin' great so far." Meggy said happily, "No problems, no trouble. This party is going to be amazing, all we have left before the guests arrive is the streamers, more food and disco lights. How are the Sea Snails doing over there, Mario?"
KRSH! "WAH! Mamaf***er!"
Meggy giggled, "Mario, now's not the time to..." She turned around and let out a shriek of alarm, a strange-looking snail with Mario's head was moving around in a slow manner near a basket full of Sea Snails and was grumbling unhappily.
"Red, you're not supposed to eat the Sea Snails." Meggy protested, "They're for the party!"
"There wasn't any spaghetti to eat, Mario was hungry." The plumber said apologetically, "And the Sea Snails look like very, very yummy power up mushrooms."
"Just don't do that again, okay?"
"Oookie-doookie…" Mario soon reverted back into his normal self, sitting on the floor with a sad expression on his face. However, his mood changed when Meggy hugged him. She forgave the plumber for being an idiot again, then they got back to work on getting ready for the big party, which was very important for one very particular reason.
Not too long ago, Splatoon 3 the video game had released and, so far, it was a massive hit with people across the land rejoicing the new gaming title's release. To commemorate the game's release, SMG4 made IF MARIO WAS IN SPLATOON 3 and, within hours of it's release, everybody had seen it all.
And just like that, the Splatoon Craze was in motion and it was all thanks to SMG4's efforts, due to how popular he was, combined with the smashing release of the video game. To honor the big occasion, the Glitchy Gang decided to throw a Splatoon party and decided on Peach's Castle being the ideal location to do so.
Luckily for the gang, they managed to get Princess Peach's permission before she headed off on a tropical vacation and promised they wouldn't mess up the castle while she was gone.
With Peach gone, it was up to the crew to host the party, Peach was going to be far too busy on vacation to even attend or help host the major event. Either way, the stars had aligned and today was the perfect day to host a Splatoon Day party. Everything felt so right!
Tari and Fishy Boopkins helped with the guest list with Bob volunteering to be one of the DJs alongside Luigi, even Melony was brought on to help be the food server with Saiko. Mario and Meggy had their jobs in the bag, they would be making sure the party went smoothly. In fact, they and SMG4 were the main hosts since they had organized the event.
Chris and Swagmaster would be serving as security, keeping an eye out for possible party crashers and ensuring the safety of everyone in the castle. Everybody had high hopes for the party.
Meggy and Mario made sure the sound-speakers were set up properly, checking for bugs and loose wires. However, Meggy frowned when she counted the speakers. There was a missing speaker, they were supposed to have six, but she could only count five.
"WE GOT A MISSING SPEAKER!" Meggy yelled into a megaphone, "DOES ANYBODY HAVE ONE?"
Bob came rushing out of the nearest room, a sound-speaker in his sword hands. "Super sorry, Meggy!" He said in his trademark monotone, "I needed to practice my rapping for the party and I needed a sound-speaker really, really badly, didn't mean to cause any trouble for you, LOL!"
"Just place it over there, Bob!" Mario and Meggy told the Garo.
"You got that, chief." Bob tossed the sound-speaker next to the others, nearly knocking one aside. Mario yelped and Meggy cringed, hoping it didn't destroy any tubes. She performed a sound-speaker inspection, checking the speaker for any broken parts. Luckily, Bob hadn't done any damage.
"Darn it, Bob! Be gentle next time!" The former Inkling chided.
"Hey! Screw you!" The Garo told Meggy, "I got no time if I'm going to be singing for the chicks at the party and everything needs to look perfect!"
The door opened and Melony walked in with Tari, carrying a cart full of Fried Salmon Steak. Meggy had tasked them with getting more party food, it apparently hadn't taken the girls that long to get that task done. An excited Mario whooped and hugged Tari, complimenting her on a job well-done.
With everything just about done, the plumber helped Meggy set up the Splattershot party steamers around the room and test fired them, spraying confetti across the floor, which the gang cleaned up in a heartbeat. Last but not least, there was the matter of the party disco light balls. Luckily, Luigi had fetched them from Peach's basement.
Melony grabbed a tall ladder and set up the first disco ball on the ceiling, then Meggy took care of the second with Mario holding up her ladder. Since he was easily distracted, Tari supervised him.
It didn't take the gang very long, very soon, everything was in order. The nearest door opened and SMG4 appeared from his room, his eyes nearly wide with dread and concern. "Is everything set up?" He asked.
"Don't worry, SMG4." Meggy flashed a thumbs up, "Everything's all under control here. Sound-speakers are set up, food's set and the decorations are in order. We're ready."
"Great." SMG4 wiped some sweat off his forehead, "Can't wait to get the Splat party started. But, uh, where's our party security? SWAG! CHRIS! WHERE ARE YOU? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE OUR PARTY'S SECURITY GUARDS AND HELPING LUIGI MAKE SURE OUR GUESTS ARE THE ONES ON THE LIST!"
A door opened and the two uniformed guards appeared.
"Sorry, SMG4." Chris said, "We were busy upstairs."
"Yeah." Swag nodded, holding his rifle, "We had a monster infestation to deal with, but the situation's been neutralized and you're safe now. LOL!"
"Never mind that, get to your posts, guests are on their way and you're the party security, who's gonna make sure nobody sneaks in to ruin the party?"
"Got it, chief!" Swag saluted.
"Don't fret, SMG4." Chris agreed, "You'll be safe and sound by the time the party's over!"
Giving SMG4 and the gang another salute, the guards made their way to the door, weapons ready. It was then that the clock chimed 3:30 P.M., followed suit by the ringing of the doorbell, the latter of which perked everyone's attention.
"Right on time!" Meggy said with glee, "Let's get this party started everyone." She glared at Mario, "You helped organize this, Red. Do not screw this up, okay!"
"Wahoo!" Mario nodded, "Mario will be a good boy!"
A short time later, after the door had opened and the guests had been ushered inside by the guards and checked in with Luigi, the gang was ready to start the party. Sure enough, everyone was here; The Squid Sisters & Off The Hook, Kermit & Jeeves, Desti's old team the Octoposse, Bowser, Shroomy and a few others from Inkopolis with Heavy Squid and Cap'n Cuttlefish along with some Toads.
Even SMG3 was here, SMG4 had sent an invite to the Internet Graveyard and his old nemesis came with a pair of Ugandan Knuckles and the Eggdog he'd adopted after Terrance sacrificed his meme energy to ensure the defeat of Zero several months back.
The guests talked among themselves excitedly, full of eagerness to have a good time and hyped by the idea of a Splatoon party here. For those from Inkopolis, it sounded like a great way to honor that new video game and that new video that had just came out. This seemed so perfect, there was nothing that could ruin the whole experience whatsoever.
A loud ringing sound echoed throughout the room and the crowd became silent as Meggy and SMG4 stepped forward with the former holding the microphone in her hand.
"We'd like to thank you for coming here." Meggy said into the microphone, "It's just incredible, especially with what's been happening recently, but the timing feels perfect for such an occasion and thank you for taking the time out of your day to join us for what we hope is a festive time for all of us..."
"Here, here..." Pearl nodded.
"Yeah, Splatoon rocks!" A Toad cried.
"Now, before we start the party, SMG4 would like to say a few words." Meggy handed the microphone to her friend, "What would our favorite meme man have to say to our guests?"
SMG4 took the microphone, "Thank you, Meggy. You're all good friends to us and we know that memes and Splatoon are very important to us in our lives, for years, we've had some amazing adventures while Splatoon has captured our hearts in more ways than one. It's colorful, we've made new friends and have experienced some remarkable adventures.
"If it weren't for your support, I wouldn't have made such an amazing video that the fans would have loved very much. And if it weren't for us, Splatoon wouldn't have been as big as it is today and we wouldn't have been able to meet someone by the likes of Meggy here. So, thank you, your support, passion and kindness is the reason we and Splatoon have been able to keep going...
"So why don't we have some fun and rejoice, remember why we're here on this day, remember what brought us together in the first place and make this an unforgettable day that'll be with us for the rest of our lives. SPLATOON IS AWESOME, BABY! SO, LET'S PARTY!"
Disco lights exploded to life and the Splattershot streamers fired, confetti exploding everywhere, and the guests whooped with excited enthusiasm. Lively music flared up from the sound-speakers with Callie and Marie's iconic hit 'Calamari Inkantation' playing, energizing the mood of the party even further and delighting the Inkling guests.
Meggy brought out the champagne and poured some for her and Mario, the two raised their glasses with a smile against the backdrop of the Splatoon party, standing near the "Happy Splatoon Day" banner with optimistic satisfaction in their hearts as to how things were playing out so far.
"To-a the release of Splatoon 3." Mario declared with his glass raised.
"Here, here!" Meggy agreed, "And to SMG4: If Mario Was in Splatoon 3..."
They clicked their glasses and sipped their drinks. Soon as Mario sipped his champagne, his eyes widened and he gasped, almost as if he was shocked by what he'd done. This champagne tasted so salty, so sugar-y, so fresh! He hadn't tasted that stuff much, but it was incredible.
A concerned Meggy eyed Mario warily. "You okay, Red?" She asked, "You look like you're not enjoying your drink."
"Mario's okay." The plumber replied.
"Best idea ever, so far." SMG4 said with a grin as he oversaw the festivities, the meme man glanced at the two Splatfest champions and fellow party hosts with a confident thumbs up, "Excellent work on making sure our party is the success it's turned out to be so far, you two."
Down below, Bob and Luigi were working the records and checking the tunes as the party DJs, turning the discs and maintaining volume levels, wearing headphones on their heads that fit them. The two were working in perfect sync with each other, with no drama between them and without any of their personal interests getting in the way.
Near the door, Swag and Chris were on duty, guns at the ready. However, Swag was starting to really like the beats that were playing, especially the Calamari Inkantation, as his body started to move to the beat. His feet started tapping, his fingers clicking and Swag started humming.
"Really now, Swag?" Chris said, "We're supposed to be on duty and you want to dance?"
"But this music's really good to listen to, I feel like dancing right now." Swag said, "C'mon, Chris, let's hit the dance floor and dance away!"
"I am not dancing with someone like you, the thought of even dancing with a guy I am friends with really repulses me. Go dance with Sonic if you want to dance with someone, I have a job to do and there will be consequences if we fail. Swag, SWAG!"
Too late, Swag had put down his gun and headed out onto the dance floor in the middle of the guests. He raised his arm and lowered his other, doing a dab, then he started rocking his body back and forth in a type of Fortnite move. Swag tapped his foot to the rhythm, clicked his fingers, nodded his head and began dancing all around while performing some very slick moves as he twisted and flipped around.
Chris face-palmed, irritated that Swag had just abandoned his post to go dancing. He held his gun firmly and continued guarding the door, looking at the guest list and then looking back at the door.
Even with the guests and the hosts enjoying the party and with the festive mood in the air, something was bound to happen at any given minute. Chris eyed the door and looked around, his gun ready, keeping alert for any attacks that were likely about to happen at any minute. As Chris tried to relax his nerves, he heard a knocking on the door and checked the guest list.
Someone was here, but weren't all the guests here, what was missing on the list? It was probably a late last minute party guest who decided to come. Chris opened the door and Wario waltzed in, wearing a Splatoon hat and T-shirt.
"Where's the party at, I wanna help myself to some food and enjoy the fun." The greedy anti-Mario said with a sinister grin.
"It's right over there, Mr. Wario." Chris said, "Please enjoy!"
"Ha-ha! Thank you-a so much!"
Wario joined the party in the main room, heading to the tables where the food awaited. However, a stirring in a tray caught his eye and he took notice to the Sea Snails in attendance of the Splatoon party. Wario's greedy eyes lit up, they looked like power-up mushrooms, super tasty power up Mushrooms. As a matter of fact, what did they taste like?
SMACK! Wario backed away and looked into the serious face of Tari, who'd just slapped his hand. "No." She told him, "Don't eat the Sea Snails, they're for the party. Meggy has a rule against eating Sea Snails, don't even think about it, you greedy man."
"GRRR! Fine!" Wario growled, "Where's the party food?"
"Over here, Mr. Wario." Melony said sweetly, handing Wario a tray full of pineapples, meat and vegetables that didn't include watermelons.
"Didn't expect Wario to show up." SMG4 commented when he saw him, "We didn't put him on the list, then again, anybody can attend but as long as they're a friend." The meme man frowned, "Hold on, if we didn't include him, then... Oh boy!"
KA BOOM! The castle walls exploded and Waluigi flew in in his Super WaluRambo form that he only obtained when he was turned down and refused, his eyes aglow with angry energy. Right on cue, the door burst open and Chris fell over as Nintendo's Lawyer Kong marched in with a pair of Nintendo Ninjas beside him.
Everyone gasped, the music stopped and the festive mood became replaced with dread and uncertainty. All eyes were on the new arrivals, concerned and confused. What was happening?
"I WASN'T INVITED TO A PARTY!" Waluigi screamed, "WHY WASN'T I INVITED? YOU WILL FEEL MY WRATH, YOU ALREADY KNOW WHY I HATE BEING TURNED AWAY AND NOT GIVEN LOVE!"
"Any and all illegal activity must cease!" Lawyer Kong added, "Desist at once!"
Tension grew, the gang prepared themselves, getting ready to fight. Weapons were being drawn, the suspense escalated and boiled towards the tipping point. Eyes were narrow, energy was swelling. But just then...
"Wait." Tari stepped forward with a smile, she looked up at Waluigi and then at Lawyer Kong. Everyone looked at her, wondering what she was aiming to do. Of course, she was being a pacifist.
"How about we party together?" She suggested, Tari glanced up at Waluigi, "We're so sorry for not inviting you, we would love to have you attend our party. We can let you dance and help yourself to some meals, maybe play some games, if you're interested?"
"Wha…" Lawyer Kong raised an eyebrow, "What are you…?"
Waluigi's eyes reverted back to normal, the wah-man looked at Tari with curious optimism, having just been accepted. "Do you mean it; I can attend with my brother as a guest?" He asked.
"You sure can, bro." Wario nodded.
"Of course, you can." Meggy said.
This made Waluigi happy and he transformed back into his regular standard self, his powers subsiding. The Wario brother cried out happily, exclaiming 'wah-llelueah', before hugging Wario happily and thanking Tari, who then looked over at Lawyer Kong with a sincere and calm smile on her face.
"And you can join the party as well, Mr. Lawyer Kong." The blue-haired gamer said, "There's no need to drop a cease-and-desist on us over rejoicing Splatoon, we love your products and Nintendo is an amazing company, how could we possibly diss you and disregard your work when we're hanging out and rejoicing what you love about that product? We'd be happy to have you join us on Splatoon Day..."
"Very diplomatic and non-aggressive." Lawyer Kong remarked with a smile, "Very well, stand down, Nintendo ninjas. Let's party!"
DJs Bob and Luigi geared up the soundtracks and very energetic music started up again with everyone hitting the dance floor, doing the Splatoon dance to the new 'Colorful Splatoon' theme that rejoiced the vibrant and colorful nature of Splatoon itself. Mario and Meggy hugged, the gang high-fived and everybody enjoyed themselves, rejoicing Splatoon Day and having the best party they ever had.
And despite the abrupt arrival of two nearly-uninvited guests that nearly ruined the party for those hosting or in attendance, everything had turned out well in the end.
The End
