Chapter 2

Cheap motel room, L.A. morning

John was in the bathroom washing his face with cool water after what just happened or was about to happen just moments ago, there she was, Cameron lying on the bed with her top naked under him, she wanted him to check her power source which lays in her chest or was that only what she told him?

There was a moment when he was on top of her when he stared deep into her big brown eyes and was almost about to kiss her when she said "John… It's time to go", he still couldn't forget that moment for some reason he felt almost dejected even she seemed reluctant to end this moment.

The worst part was that he still wanted to kiss her, but he couldn't, "It would be wrong" he kept repeating in his head like a mantra and there was no time for this they had to break mom from jail.

Cameron was in the room standing by the window observing the outside world for any threats to John, she was experiencing something akin to sadness and disappointment, or was it, she didn't understand what she expected, was she really wanted John to kiss her or was this just some glitch in her programming like many others she experiences since the bomb.

She was standing and seemingly lost in thoughts until she heard John calling her.

"Cameron, are you ready?"

"Yes" she responded

"Remember, no killing"

"Yes, John"

They went to the room's door ready to free Sarah from the prison when they opened the door they stopped immediately, in front of them was a man wearing a green trench coat, blue jeans, and sneakers.

The man said "Hello John hello Cameron"

Earlier at the motel, night

He parked the SUV in front of the motel, he was completely unarmed knowing very well that had he been he would be seen immediately as a threat by the cyborg, he knew that they were at this motel, he even knew their room and decided to rent a room for himself and meet them in the morning.

He covered his face with a hat to not be recognized before, he got out of the vehicle and vent to check in after this to his room which was near them.

He felt nervous seeing the world like it was before the bombs dropped, he felt strange, he wanted to use the moment having fun in this beautiful world, taste the food, go to the cinema but he had to wait he had a mission to accomplish.

Immediately after entering the room, he went for a shower which was a long-forgotten luxury in the post-apocalyptic future after that he went back to the room a decided to eat something he bought on the road, it was cheap and provably junk food, but it still tasted to him like food from king's kitchen.

After eating he lay on the bed, the mattress was cheap but more comfortable than anything he laid on in the future.

While in bed he started thinking about the meeting he had in the morning, how to explain everything to them, what was the best approach, explaining everything immediately or step by step tell them when the moment was right as he was told in the future he should do.

His thoughts went also to his brother who was killed by some gray because of something he never did, he hated the grays for what they did to his brother, and despite not begin a vengeful man he still wanted to repay those who killed his brother.

He wondered if a world without Judgment Day was ever possible, if he, his brother, and the rest of the family could have a normal life without the fear of machines or traitors, he wondered how his life would be without Skynet's threat.

Perhaps he could have his own family, be a husband and father have a normal job, but he knew it was too late for him perhaps his younger self could have this life but not him, not after living in hell for so long.

Slowly his mind drifted towards sleep when he woke up from his sleep it was still dark outside, he decided to eat what he left before going to sleep and then started working on what to say when he meets them.

He knew that he had to explain only part of the mission at the time and not everything that could "freak them out", especially John, but he had to give them sufficient information so they could believe.

In front of John and Cameron's room in the motel, morning

When the time came, and he was ready to explain everything to them that was necessary for now he got out of the room and went to theirs staying in front of the door for a few minutes when the doors opened a couple of teenagers were staring at him.

He recognized them immediately, the last time he saw them in the future they looked a bit older, especially John, he started greeting them "Hello John, hello Cameron"

Both John and Cameron examined the stranger and observed his face which looked like John although older probably around 30 years old and his eyes were blue, he also had a beard.

Cameron's HUD found a match, as she did, she said to John "I have identified this man as the Sergeant of the Resistance Kyle Reese".

John's green eyes were wide open, and the stranger confirmed what Cameron said.

"Yes, I am Sergeant Kyle Reese of the Human Resistance"

John was shocked and was unable to say anything he just stood there looking at his father from the future.

Kyle finally said "We have to talk now"
