Chapter 9 It's All Relative
"So this is the Duel Monster's Lab..." Rumi, Kaito, Ron, Rebecca, and Condor are now in front of a car lab.
"But still, I wonder why are we here in this first place?" Ron asks.
"The universe was formed in a logical manner. However, the creation of the four dimensions has broken down the logic." They turn to see a man standing in front of them. Rebecca gasps, "No way..."
"You know her, Rebecca?" Condor asks.
"He is Dr. Zweinstein, a Dueling Physicist." Rebecca says. "He has a self-proposed Grand Dueling Unification Theory, and also won ten Noble Awards..."
"You must be the Lancers, tell me. Is it really fine to let the four dimensions break the whole universe like this?" Dr. Zweinstein asks.
"As long as the people are happy about it, what's the problem with that?" Rumi asks. "Then I want to ask you, is it fine to sacrifice humanity just to do the Arc Area Project which combines the whole four dimensions into one?"
"You guys must be confined to the beliefs of the fake world, maybe a duel will let you get back to reality." Then the doctor activates his Duel Disk.
"I'll duel you." Rumi says while activating her Duel Disk. "I'll show you that the world is as real as good!"
With Rumi activating the Action Field, platforms appear and Zweinstein says, "Dueling is comprised of arithmetic, physics, chemistry, and all other logical thoughts. He who commands dueling will also command physics."
"But you can't win the duel with just logic." Rumi says. "I believe in my cards, and they will believe in me as well."
"It is just a coincidence. I will use this duel to correct your misunderstandings!" Zweinstein says.
"Duel!" (Rumi:4000)(Zweinstein:4000)
"I'll get the first turn. I activate the Field Magic: Relativity Field!" Zweinstein says.
Just then, the whole field turns into space, and Condor says, "This is..."
"The whole universe?" Kaito asks.
"I end my turn." Zweinstein says.
"Wait, you're ending your turn by just bringing out your Field Magic?" Rumi asks. "My turn!"
After drawing a card, she says, "I summon Flying Riders Nightingale Princess! (ATK:100/DEF:100 LV:4)
After the Monster appears, Rumi says, "Nightingale Princess can be treated as two Monsters when performing Xyz Summon! I Overlay Nightingale Princess! Rise into the air, and take the passengers to the sky with your big balloon! Xyz Summon! Come! Rank 4! Flying Riders Hot Air balloon 4!"
A hot air balloon with 4 level stars the balloon appears on the field (ATK:2200/DEF:1800, RNK:4 OVU:1)
"From my hand, I activate my Singularity Devil's Monster effect! When my opponent has Special Summoned a Monster, by sending this card and the Magic Card in my hand to the graveyard, it will negate Hot Air Balloon 4's Special Summon and destroy it."
"What?" Rumi gasps in shock as her Monster is destroyed. Rebecca says, "Did he just destroy her Xyz Monster just like that?"
"Damn it...I set two cards and end my turn." Rumi says.
"My turn!" After drawing a card, he says, "I use Continuous Magic: Schrödinger's Mischievous Cat! Then I activate the Magic Card: Pot of Greed. I draw two cards."
After drawing two cards, he continues, "The effect of my Schrödinger's Mischievous Cat activates! When I draw cards outside of my Draw phase, after the drawn cards are confirmed, they are returned to my deck and shuffled. After that, I draw as many cards from my deck as the amount I returned."
"So even if he draws two cards that might not be useful for him, he can just return it and draw two more cards..." Rebecca says.
"I set one card and Summon Laplace the Demon World Mathematician! (ATK:1000/DEF:1000 LV:4)"
After the Monster is summoned, Zweinstein yells, "Direct attack!"
"I use Trap Card: Flying Riders Rescue! When I take a direct attack, I can Special Summon one Flying Riders monster from my deck and end the battle Phase. I choose Flying Riders: Galaxy Center! (ATK:2500/DEF:3000 LV:8 PS:9)
After the Galaxy Center appears on the field, Zweinstein says, "I set one more card and use the Magic Card: Worm Hole from my hand!"
Just then, a portal appears below them and Zweinstein continues, "It removes one Monster on my field from this field until my next Standby phase. Then, there is Laplace's Monster effect! When Laplace has left the field, for each card that is out on the field, it inflicts 300 damage to the opposing player."
"There are six cards on the field." Kaito says. "That means there is 1800 damage."
Rumi glows red light as she yells in pain. (Rumi:4000-2200) "Additionally, there is the effect of my Field Magic: Relativity Field. When one's LP decrease, it reduces the ATK of a Monster on one's field by that amount." (ATK:2500-700)
"No way..." Rebecca says.
"One more thing! I activate the Magic Card: Black Hole! It destroys all Monsters that are out on the field." Zweinstein says as Galaxy Center is destroyed.
"Your monsters are just like these four dimensions. They may have some great opportunities, however, they will still be your ruin."
"And why are the four dimensions being our ruin?" Condor asks.
"Only by combining the world into one, the crisis that the four dimensions won't be there to happen. I end my turn." Zweinstein says.
"My turn!" Before Rumi can draw a card, Zweinstein says, "I use Continuous Trap: Draw Paradox. Both players will be unable to draw during their own Draw Phases."
"What?" Rumi asks.
"Both players are to draw one card from their deck during the Draw Phase of their opponent's turn. In other words, I will be drawing for this Draw Phase."
"Are you serious?" Ron asks.
"I set the Scale 2 Flying Riders Egg on the Pendulum Zone and end my turn..." Rumi mutters.
"It is my turn, but there is Draw Paradox's effect." Zweinstein says. "Go on and draw."
"Thanks?" Rumi says as she draws a card. "This is weird..."
"With that, allow me to continue my turn." Zweinstein says. "Due to the effect of Worm Hole, Laplace the Demon World Mathematician will return to the field."
After the monster appears, Zweinstein says, "How about I give you a lecture on how every universe has logic that beautifully unites the worlds in them?"
"A lecture in the middle of the duel?" Ron asks.
"To think we get to hear a lecture from a Nobel-Prize-winning Doctor...you don't get good luck like this every day..." Rebecca says.
"So is he also from the Original Dimension like you?" Condor asks.
"You can say he was in our history books. Back in our time period." Rebecca says.
"Dueling is built on three different forces. Magic, Trap, and Monsters. Behind this lab, I have studied the logic that unites these three, and I have finally completed it." Zweinstein says. "I use Magic Card: Dueling Constant! It will banish one monster, one Continuous Magic, and one Continuous Trap on my field from the game. Furthermore, because of Laplace's effect, for the five cards that were on the field...it now inflicts 1500 damage!"
Rumi is hit by the red glow again. (Rumi:2200-700)
"Next is the effect of Dueling Constant. Now that I banish my Monster, Magic, and Trap, I Special Summon the symbol of their unity, the All-Ruling Dragon - Brain Dragon!" (ATK:2800/DEF:1000 LV:8)
"Oh no...if that attack hits..." Condor says.
"Brain Dragon! Attack directly!" When the dragon is about to hit, Rumi jumps onto the platform and grabs an Action Card. "Action Magic: Evasion! I negate the attack!"
After the attack is negated, Zweinstein says, "Using cards scattered on the field, so this is the weapon of the Lancers that breaks the whole game...Action Fields...However, your being able to interact with coincidence ends here."
"We'll see about that." Rumi says.
"It's impossible for you to reverse the situation with the card that you've drawn. God is never one to roll dice." Zweinstein says.
"My turn!" After drawing a card, she says, "I set the Scale 10 Flying Riders - Space Wings on the other Pendulum Scale!"
After the scale is set, Rumi says, "With this, I can Summon Monsters from Level 2 to 9! Pendulum Summon! Revive from my Extra Deck! Galaxy Center!"
After the Galaxy Center is back, Rumi says, "Magic Card: Holding Back Direct! I half my Monster's ATK and attack you directly! Galaxy Center! Attack Directly!"
Zweinstein is hit by the cannons from the Galaxy Center. (Zweinstein:4000-2750) Rumi says, "And Relativity Field's effect activates!" (ATK:2800-1550)
"Good, Rumi's dealing some damage." Kaito says.
"I end my turn." Rumi says.
Zweinstein stands back up and says, "Pendulum Monsters, the combination of Monster cards and Magic Cards...they also destroy the logic of the real Dueling...it's my turn!"
After drawing a card, he says, "Brain Dragon's effect lets me draw two more cards. I then choose two from my hand, and return them to my deck in any order I choose."
After setting the cards back, he says, "I use Quick-Play Magic: Cyclone! Pendulum Monsters are treated as Magic Cards in the Pendulum Zone, so I destroy Flying Riders Egg in the Pendulum Zone!"
After the card is destroyed, Zweinstein says, "With this, you won't be able to Pendulum Summon in your next turn. I end my turn."
Rumi says, "My turn!" After drawing a card, she says, "I guess it is fun knowing the Physics or stuff, but I intend to end the duel this turn."
"What?" Zweinstein asks.
"I use Monster Reborn! I can Summon back my Nightingale Princess in my graveyard!" After the Monster appears, Rumi continues, "Then I use Space Wing's Pendulum Effect! I target two Monsters, Galaxy Center and Space Wings, their Levels will be combined!"
"That means there are 2 Level 12 Monsters!" Rebecca says.
"No, Nightingale Princess can be treated as two Monsters, so there are 3 Level 12 Monsters."
"I Overlay my now Level 12 Galaxy Center and Nightingale Princess! Fly into the sky, become the whole universe, and s how your strength in the galaxies! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 12! Flying Riders - Knight of the Universe 12!" (ATK:5000/DEF:4800 RNK:12 OVU:2 PS:3)
"No way! Could a miracle have just..." Zweinstein gasps as the knight on a horse made of 12 stars appear on the field.
"When Knight of the Universe appears on the field, I can destroy all cards on my opponent's field!"
Just then, the giant explosion occurs, and Zweinstein gasps, "My beautiful universe, it-"
"And this is the end! I attack you directly!" Rumi yells. "Knight of the Universe 12! Zodiac Attack!"
Just then, the knight transforms into 12 stars and then attack Zweinstein, causing him to yell in pain. (Zweinstein:2750-0)
After the duel ends, Zweinstein kneels down and says, "This was 99.99% impossible! Do I take this to mean that my Grand Unification Theory was incomplete?"
"No, your theory is interesting, but there is no right or wrong about the consequences." Condor says. "This is what makes studying interesting."
Zweinstein stares at Condor and laughs, "You may be right. Since you've beaten me, before I was carded by you, I'll show you something in my lab."
"Why will I card you?" Rumi asks, but as they enter the lab, Rebecca gasps, "Is this?"
"This is the doorway to the Duel Monsters Spirit World." Zweinstein says. "The Professor has me study the origin of the Dragons that once destroyed the original dimension. And everything links to what's behind this world."
"This must be a giant discovery..." Rumi gasps. "We might need to tell Akaba Reisho and the others about this."
"But why are you showing us this?" Condor asks. "Aren't you with Academia?"
Zweinstein says, "I only joined them because of the theory of the Arc Area Project. However, the moment you beat me, I know that theory might be able to change."
"I see..." Kaito says, "Let's go."
"Are you sure we're going to leave him here?" Ron asks.
"He won't be doing anything to ruin our plans to stop Akaba Leo. There is no reason for us to continue here." Rebecca says. "However, we must inform Reisho, Yuni, and others about the gateway to the Duel Monsters World."
The others nod as they leave Zweinstein alone, and Zweinstein stares at them and says, "Who knows, maybe there is still hope and logic in these four dimensions..."
Here is a new chapter, and this chapter might be one of the important chapters that will be related to the future events of the story. As you can see, Dr. Zweinstein is from the GX anime and the Duel Monsters world will play a big part in this. The next chapter will be Ruri's group.

Effect: When you get a direct attack, you can Special Summon one Flying Riders monster from your deck and end the battle phase.
Flying Riders: Space Wings:
Light Attribute LV:4 PS:10 Machine/Pendulum/Effect ATK:1200/DEF:1300
Pendulum Effect: You can target two Monsters on the field, and their Levels will be combined.
Monster Effect: You can equip this Monster to a Flying Riders Monster on the field, and it gains 1200 ATK.
Flying Riders Knight of the Universe 12:
Light Attribute, Rank:12 PS:3 BeastWarrior/Xyz/Pendulum/Effect, ATK:5000/DEF:4800
Effect:3 Level 12 Flying Riders Monsters.
When this card is Special Summoned to the field, you can destroy all cards your opponent controls, and by detaching one Overlay Unit, you can gain an effect of a Monster, Magic, or Trap Card in your field, hand, or graveyard. When this card is destroyed, destroy one Monster in the Pendulum Zone and replace this card on it.
