Author's Note: Hello! This chapter is a bit on the shorter side but I hope you enjoy regardless.

Farkas

Aela and Mjolnir had spoken late into the night and he had not tried to speak to her as she had not acknowledged him at all. This angered him and saddened him all the more. Vilkas had told him countless times to just let it go but he couldn't. Why did she sit in a web of lies and conspiracy? Who was she really? The woman he married was not who he thought she was and he wanted to know what had happened to her. Why in two years had she not let him know she was at least alive? Had she not trusted him? He swore on his blade. Wasn't that good enough for her?

"She's a busy woman brother. You wished to see her why not make amends?" Vilkas the wiser of the two drawled. Farkas would have none of that. Even if Vilkas could not understand from his point of view, Farkas knew his judgment was not wrong. Mjolnir was not who she said she was. And he wondered if Vilkas would feel that way if he knew the things that Farkas did. Besides, Aela was in Mjolnir's company. And Aela was a force to be reckoned with. The moment Mjolnir had stepped foot into the companions Aela had claimed her as hers. And Farkas had respected that. Aela, she was something else and he knew that without explanation she would fight him on Mojlnir's behalf.

He squinted as he watched Mjolnir, her tired face was etched with worries and her shoulders were hunched and she leaned over the back of the chair she sat in as if to alleviate some pain. But there was blood he could smell. It was masked and faint but he could smell it on her and yet she did not look injured at all. If she was worried she could heal herself Farkas thought while adding that she had the Jarl's healers at her disposal as well.

"I've done nothing wrong." Farkas grumbled at last wanting to enjoy the drink in his hand but Vilkas would not be so easily deterred. He had felt his brother had sulked enough and he desired to say what they all were thinking.

"Perhaps she never owed you an explanation, Farkas. She is her own person. If you were truly a companion you would have stood by her regardless." Farkas riled in his seat. He had been silent for too long and the beast inside him roared for justice. How dare anyone accuse him of being self-serving. "Is that so? Maybe she wasn't who she said she was."

He turned on Vilkas who had become extremely tense. Both were ready to fight one another but were interrupted by the scrapping of chairs. Farkas' head snapped to the left where he saw Mjolnir and Aela rise. Aela looked sternly at Mjolnir who was pale under the glow of fire light. They muttered a few words before Mjolnir turned and left on her heel not once glancing back in the brother's direction.

"Or maybe you just didn't see all there was to see." Vilkas retorted. He had had enough and was raising his fist to throw the first punch but Aela had approached them, looking bored.

"What's the matter with you two?" She asked glancing between the brothers who quickly recovered, pulling away from another so as to not cause a scene.

"Farkas is being unreasonable is all." Vilkas said with a gruff edge to his voice and tried to shake the irritation he felt off.

"I am not. And you did not like her when she first came here. Why defend her at all?" Farkas snapped back, grinding his teeth at Vilkas who shrugged and turned to Aela "What did she tell you anyway?"

Aela had thought for a moment and recalled her friend's perilous and grime adventures that had put her into less than ideal situations. Maybe Farkas would understand but admitted that she hadn't quite understood how she could have done some of the things she had done.

"Not for me to say." The huntress replied and both men knew they could not sway her into saying anymore. "If you want to hear what she said you must ask her yourself." She took her leave swiftly and made her way downstairs, likely to sleep off the alcohol.

Vilkas also took his leave and left Farkas standing there alone. It suddenly felt unbearably hot in the mead hall and he made his swift exit from the home of the companions. He'd go deep into the woods, far out of Whiterun where he would become his beast self to blow off some steam. So much had happened that he had begun to feel caged.
