In the beginning, there was only ocean... until the mother island emerged.

Lei Reigna, or simply Reigna. The most beautiful island alicorn goddess ever known.

Her heart held the greatest power ever known. It could create life itself, and Reigna shared it with the world.

In order to keep balance with this power, Reigna passed parts of her power to her three daughters:

Fantasia, Dreamira Heart, and Forsythiana.

The eldest daughter was granted the power to make the sun rise and shine to create the warmth and energy life needed to grow and flourish. The middle child created the winds that brought the pollination and the rain clouds to where they were needed most. And the youngest child created the life force itself that allowed plant life to grow healthy and strong.

Each daughter took full responsibility for the gifts their mother bestowed and honored them greatly.

But in time, some began to seek their mother's heart. They believed if they could possess it, the great power of creation would be theirs. And then one day... the most daring of them all voyaged across the vast ocean to take it.

He was a Jedi demigod of the wind and sea. He was a warrior. A trickster. Some even called him a psychopath. He could change form with the power of his magical fish hook. And his name... was Quinlan Vos.

Quinlan Vos, in his human form, used his hook to pry Reigna's heart out from its spot.

However, without her heart, Lei Reigna began to crumble, giving birth to a terrible darkness. Reigna's three daughters came after the thieving demigod and tried to get their mother's heart back, but the three princesses lacked sufficient experience with their powers to capture him.

And as the three princesses attempted to capture the would-be escapee, they were confronted by another who sought the heart.

Lavadera, an equine demon of earth and fire.

Quinlan was struck from the sky, and his magical fish hook and the heart of Reigna were lost to the sea.

The three daughters split up to look for their mother's heart, but never found it. But, they kept searching and used what power they had to keep what their mother created alive.

A thousand years later still, Lavadera and the demons of the deep still hunt for the heart.

In present day, a man by the name of Qui-Gon Jinn showed some of the village children some handmade tapestries that told the very story.

"Hiding in a darkness that will continue to spread, chasing away our fish, draining the life from island after island until every one of us is devoured by the bloodthirsty jaws of inescapable death."

Many children were scared by that story, except for one little girl. A Togruta toddler. Her name was Ahsoka.

"But Reigna's daughter's continue to protect the islands the best they can. As long as we continue to honor and share our island's blessings with them, we shall be spared. And one day, the heart will be found by someone who will journey beyond our reef, find Quinlan and the three daughters, deliver them across the great ocean, to restore Reigna's heart and save us all."

"Alright now," said a new voice. And in came a Kel Dor by the name of Plo Koon, Ahsoka's stepfather, and one of the many chiefs of this tribe. "Thank you, Chief Qui-Gon. That is enough."

"Papa," smiled Ahsoka, waddling over to her father, who picked her up.

"No one goes outside the reef. We are safe here. There is no darkness. There are no monsters."

He accidentally knocked down a rolled tapestry, unrolling it to reveal a picture of a monster. And then another, and another, and another until the whole room was filled with monster pictures that scared the children into knocking Chief Plo down.

"No, there are no monsters!" Plo said. "There is nothing beyond our reef but storms and rough seas. As long as we stay on our very safe island, we will be fine."

"The legends are true." Qui-Gon said. "Someone will have to go."

Ahsoka peeked out from the story time hut and caught a glimpse of the view of the ocean.

If you haven't guessed by now, Ahsoka was a very curious child.

This island she lived on was called Manta-Jedi. It was home to a tribe of a people called the Jedi. Unlike some tribes, this one had many chiefs. Her mother and stepfather were two of them.

In the customs of her island, every chief was betrothed to a carefully selected spouse with whom they bear a child to be their heir, and then that child is betrothed to a village member deemed worthy and so on. Ahsoka's mother, Chiefess Shaak Tii had previously been married. But her father passed before she was born. And Chief Plo Koon had been married as well, but never managed to bear a child of his own, and his bride passed. Eventually, the two chiefs fell for one another, and so they married and agreed to raise Ahsoka together into a fine young princess and eventual chiefess.

Ahsoka giggled happily as she reached the beach. She loved the feeling of the warm sand beneath her little feet.

The waves pushed a pretty pink shell onto the sand, and the curious Togruta was about to pick it up. But then she looked behind her as she heard birds screeching.

Ahsoka looked at a plant near where the birds were landing and spotted a baby turtle hiding underneath; he was too scared to crawl out to the ocean with those big birds out there.

Ahsoka looked at the shell and then at the turtle. She decided to do something.

The little togruta grabbed a big leaf from a nearby bush, and she walked across the beach, holding the leaf over the little turtle for its protection, shooing away any of the birds who came by trying to eat the poor baby turtle. And happily, the baby turtle made it to the ocean.

"Bye-bye!" Ahsoka waved as the little turtle swam away.

The ocean seemed to sparkle in front of Ahsoka, and a bit of the water made what looked like a special arc that opened for Ahsoka to pick up the seashell she'd seen before, as though it were a reward for helping the turtle.

Ahsoka picked up the seashell and looked into the wave. She could see another shell, and she reached out her little hand. Then, the waves opened a little more.

Ahsoka walked up to the shell and picked it up. And as she walked, a path formed that allowed Ahsoka to walk on dry sand while looking into walls of water, seeing the beautiful plants and animals that lived beneath the waves. Ahsoka picked up a few more shells and then looked up to see a wave seemingly looking down at her with curiosity.

Ahsoka looked curiously too. She tilted her head curiously, and the wave moved the same way. Ahsoka giggled and reached up and touched the wave, a little bit of water dropping onto her head, making her laugh.

And then, Ahsoka spotted something really shiny and pretty in the water. But it wasn't a seashell. It looked like a heart. A heart-shaped stone made of emeralds. And it had a pattern that looked like a horseshoe with little flowers engraved all over it. Just like the Heart of Reigna. Ahsoka reached out and grabbed the stone when she heard her father calling her name.

The ocean waves picked up little Ahsoka and rode her back onto the shore on a little piece of driftwood like a little boat, the stone landing by Ahsoka's side, and she picked it up and held it close.

And that was when Chief Plo arrived.

"There you are, Little 'Soka." said the Kel Dor, picking up his little girl. "What are you doing? You scared me."

"What? I wanna's go back." Ahsoka said.

"I know, I know. But you don't go out there. It's dangerous."

Plo put his daughter down, but she looked out at the water again.

"Ahsoka, come on." Plo said, taking Ahsoka's little hand. "Let's go back to the village."

Plo Koon and little Ahsoka were soon met by Chiefess Shaak, who was happy to see her daughter was safe.

"You are one of the next great chiefesses of our people." said Plo.

"And you will do wonderous things," said Shaak, spinning her daughter around. "My little hibiscus."

"Indeed. But first, you must learn where you're meant to be."

In the village of Manta-Jedi, Jedi young and old were doing their various jobs of taking care of their people and their home itself. Weaving baskets and clothing, gathering food, building fires and new huts, cooking food, teaching the children.

Plo carried Ahsoka on his shoulders as he and his wife took their daughter through the village.

Plo:

Ahsoka, make way, make way
Ahsoka, it's time you knew
The village of Manta-Jedi is all you need
The dancers are practicing
They dance to an ancient song
(Dancers: Who needs a new song? This old one's all we need)

But while other kids drew pictures of the beautiful things on the island, Ahsoka drew a picture of a boat, which concerned the other chiefs.

This tradition is our mission
And Moana, there's so much to do (Villagers: make way)
Don't trip on the taro root, that's all you need
We share everything we make (Villagers: we make)

We joke, and we weave our baskets (Villagers: ah-ha!)

The fishermen come back from the sea

Little Ahsoka walked towards the water as the fisherman came to the shore.

Ahsoka: I wanna see

But her father picked her up and shook a claw at her.

Plo: Don't walk away

Ahsoka was now seven years old, which meant she was old enough to receive a training crown.

Ahsoka, stay on the ground now
Our people will need a chief, and there you are

Plo & Shaak:

As Ahsoka was rowing herself and her little filly friend, an alicorn named Fiesta, her parents picked her up and carried her away from the water.

There comes a day
When you're gonna look around
And realize happiness is where you are

Plo: Consider the coconut (Villagers: the what?)

Ahsoka's parents brought her to the coconut grotto, where the older Jedi were showing the children how to harvest the coconuts and use them for different things.

Consider its tree
We use each part of the coconut, that's all we need

Shaak:

We make our nets from the fibers
The water is sweet inside
We use the leaves to build fires
We cook up the meat inside

Plo:

Consider the coconuts
The trunks and the leaves (Villagers: ha!)

The island gives us what we need

Ahsoka kept trying to go to the water many times, but each time, her parents pulled her away from it, which only made her want to go even more.

Ahsoka:

And no one leaves

Ahsoka's parents opened the curtain, as it was time for Ahsoka to walk across the path and to the palace hut to be officially initiated as a future chief.

Plo:

That's right, we stay
We're safe, and we're well provided
And when we look to the future, there you are

But as she walked down the path with her parents, Ahsoka saw something from the corner of her eye. She spotted Chief Qui-Gon dancing by the sea.

You'll be okay
In time you'll learn just as I did

Everyone:

You must find happiness right where you are

But everyone looked around, and found the young princess had disappeared, and left her crown behind.

Ahsoka giggled as she couldn't believe how she managed to get away at last. Qui-Gon became like a grandfather figure to her over the years, and he was loved by many of the village children for how kind and wise he was. And huggable too.

But, the other chiefs often questioned his behavior, and some villagers dubbed him the crazy guy.

Ahsoka came by and started to mimic Qui-Gon's movements with the ocean. The dance he was doing was meant to honor the life itself surrounding them. Its natural beauty, the happiness it gave, and prayers that it would continue for present and future generations.

Qui-Gon:

I like to dance with the water
The undertow and the waves
The water is mischievous,

He splashed Ahsoka a little, making them both laugh as they danced together

ha!

I like how it misbehaves
The village may think I'm crazy
Or say that I drift too far
But once you know what you like, well, there you are

Years went by. Ahsoka managed to get a couple of other chief's kids to come dancing with her. Chief Fisto and Secura's young son Zatt, and Chief Windu's daughter Myra.

By now, Ahsoka was sixteen years old. Zatt was nine, and Myra was fourteen. And to this day, they danced with Qui-Gon at the water, getting better and better each time.

Qui-Gon:

You are your father's daughter, stubbornness and pride
Mind what he says but remember
You may hear a voice inside

Qui-Gon walked with the three kids across the sand.

And if the voice starts to whisper
To follow the farthest star
Ahsoka, that voice inside is who you are

Qui-Gon pulled a branch aside and showed the kids some boats on the shore. Ahsoka stepped forward, but was stopped by a stern-looking Plo Koon.

"Oh! Hi, Dad." Ahsoka said. "I was only looking at the boats. I wasn't gonna get on them."

"Myra." called a voice, and a human male came in.

"Zatt." called that of a blue Twilek.

"Coming, Daddy." Myra said, reluctantly leaving with her father.

"Coming, Mom." Zatt said, also leaving.

"Come, Little 'Soka." Plo said, taking his daughter's hand. "There's something we need to show all of you."

Plo, Mace, and Aayla brought their kids up to the top of a mountain that stood above the entire island.

"We each wanted to show you this the moment you opened your eyes." Mace explained to his daughter and her friends.

The kids were brought to a place where there were various stacks of rocks. Each rock had the name of each Jedi Chief of the past and present.

"This is a sacred place," said Aayla. "A place of chiefs."

"There will come a time," said Plo. "When each of you will stand on this peak and place a stone on this mountain. Like we did and our parents did, and their parents, and every chief and chiefess that has ever been."

"And on that day, when you add your stones," said Mace. "You will raise this whole island higher together."

"You and your friends are the future of our people, Ahsoka." Plo said, motioning to the ocean. "And they are not out there."

He then motioned to down below.

"They are right here. It's time to be who you need them to be."

So, for now, Ahsoka chose to be that.

Villagers:

We make our nets from the fibers
The water is sweet inside
We use the leaves to build fires
And cook up the meat inside

The village believes in us (ha, that's right!)
The village believes (ha!)
The island gives us what we need

Plo:

And no one leaves

There came a day, when the children of all the chiefs participated in a special dance at a luau to symbolize that they were growing up and going to rise into great leaders together.

Ahsoka:

So here I'll stay
My home, my people beside me
And when I think of tomorrow, there we are
I'll lead the way
I'll have my people to guide me
We'll build our future together where we are

'Cause every path leads you back to where you are
You can find happiness right where you are
Where you are
